The lingering sweetness of the drink began to take effect, and Zhou Le felt as if his heart might explode.
It was so hot… his body felt weak.
He found himself leaning against something solid and comforting, exuding a scent he liked.
Cool and pleasant.
Zhou Le made a soft sound.
He tugged at his collar, revealing smooth, pale skin around his collarbone, finally feeling a bit cooler.
Eyes closed, he nuzzled against the solid presence he was leaning on.
But even that didn’t feel like enough, so he lifted his arms, wrapping them around it.
“Zhou Le.”
A deep voice murmured in his ear, as if restraining some emotion.
“Mm?” Zhou Le responded softly.
Then, a hand gripped his waist, strong yet gentle, pressing into a sensitive spot, making him squirm.
“Don’t move,” came the voice again, lower now, almost threatening.
Zhou Le, drunk, couldn’t process it. His mind felt as fuzzy as his limbs.
He let out a breath. “Mm… I feel uncomfortable…”
His soft voice was thick with a nasal warmth.
“What would make you feel better?” Lu Jingran’s voice dropped to a low rasp.
Both his hands held Zhou Le’s waist, pressing him close. Zhou Le’s body was warm from the alcohol, and through the thin fabric, that heat seemed to seep into Lu Jingran, igniting him as well.
I want to…
Zhou Le’s hazy thoughts finally stirred, realizing his current position was uncomfortable, so he shifted to get more comfortable.
Lu Jingran kept a firm hold on his waist, ready to catch him if he stumbled.
Zhou Le ended up straddling Lu Jingran.
Now, he could completely nestle against that cool, familiar presence he liked.
Feeling it wasn’t enough, he raised his flushed hand to tug at Lu Jingran’s collar, pulling it open slightly and pressing his face against the skin there, nuzzling contentedly, his expression softening.
D*mn.
Lu Jingran swore silently, his brow furrowing deeply.
He held Zhou Le tightly, the Omega snuggled into his chest, arms around his neck, rubbing against his collarbone.
With Zhou Le’s waist under his grip, each of his movements stirred something inside Lu Jingran, setting a fire within.
The Alpha’s breath hitched as Zhou Le’s scent, heightened by his raised temperature, grew pure and alluring.
No matter how much Lu Jingran tried to hold back, he couldn’t ignore the intoxicating aroma surrounding him, driving him to the edge.
D*mn.
All these emotions piling up together were driving him insane.
And he really was going crazy.
Zhou Le was the first to notice something different. He stopped nuzzling and pulled back slightly from Lu Jingran, looking down at the connection between them in a daze.
Why is this…
Confused, Zhou Le looked up, only to meet the Alpha’s dark, intense gaze, full of raw desire and hunger. Beneath his dark bangs, hormones simmered like a wild beast ready to consume him.
It was a little frightening.
The look sobered Zhou Le up a bit.
“Class rep…” he called out faintly, as if in a trance.
Lu Jingran seemed to snap out of it, quickly averting his gaze.
Instinctively, Zhou Le stopped moving as well, like a small animal sensing danger, freezing in place.
After a brief pause, Lu Jingran gripped his waist and placed him back in his seat.
Zhou Le: ???
Lu Jingran stood up and said to Sheng Qian, “Let’s go home.”
As he spoke, he took off his coat, draped it over Zhou Le, and then lifted him onto his back.
Zhou Le, soft and limp like melted wax, draped himself over Lu Jingran’s shoulders.
His head turned to rest against the back of Lu Jingran’s neck, where he caught the familiar, comforting scent. Feeling content, Zhou Le wrapped his arms around him again.
“Home,” he mumbled into Lu Jingran’s ear with warm breath. “Going home with you… don’t run away, it’s so comfortable…”
Lu Jingran glanced at Zhou Le on his back and then looked at Sheng Qian. “I’ll take Zhou Le. I’ll send someone to take Lin Xiaoxiao and Xia Linchuan home.”
Sheng Qian nodded in agreement, saying, “Chen Nan’s with me.”
With the tasks divided, Lu Jingran carried Zhou Le out of the private room.
Chen Nan, still half-drunk, noticed him leaving and called out fuzzily, “What are you doing, Lu Jingran! I still wanted to drink with Zhou Le!”
It was only when he was drunk like this that he dared to shout Lu Jingran’s name directly.
Zhou Le, dazed and seemingly hearing something, struggled to sit up on Lu Jingran’s back. “I also… I also want to drink… mmph!”
Annoyed by his squirming and worried he might fall, Lu Jingran wrapped an arm tightly around Zhou Le’s waist, shifting him to the front, holding him close and adjusting his jacket around him.
Zhou Le, now held in place, still wouldn’t settle down. Lu Jingran released a bit of his Alpha pheromones, and Zhou Le finally laid quietly against his shoulder.
“Zhou Le, are you chickening out?” Chen Nan tried to reach out again, only for Sheng Qian to press him down into his seat. “Calm down.”
“Who are you? Get lost!” Chen Nan, in his drunken state, couldn’t recognize anyone. “Don’t touch me!”
Sheng Qian paid him no mind.
A short while later, someone arrived to escort Lin Xiaoxiao and Xia Linchuan home under Sheng Qian’s instructions, leaving only Chen Nan, who still hadn’t fully passed out.
Now, everyone else had left the private room, leaving only Sheng Qian and Chen Nan.
Strangely enough, after that initial outburst, Chen Nan sat quietly in his seat, like a lifeless figure, without moving.
Even Sheng Qian found this unusual silence unsettling and glanced over at him.
Chen Nan leaned back in his chair, one leg crossed over the other, a seemingly relaxed posture. His head was down, one hand resting on his knee.
He looked carefree, but his expression told a different story.
Cold and distant, he seemed shrouded in an air of gloom, as if his low spirits had seeped into the room, making the air heavy with melancholy.
Was he drunk? It didn’t seem like it.
Maybe he needed to get drunker, so he wouldn’t feel so troubled.
Chen Nan poured himself another drink, but just as he lifted the bottle, Sheng Qian took it away.
Holding the bottle far out of reach, Sheng Qian didn’t say a word.
Chen Nan lowered his empty glass, the faintest smile tugging at the corner of his lips. “What, still keeping me in line?”
“When you’re abroad, are you going to keep monitoring me from there too?”
Sheng Qian remained silent, the air between them tense and unsettling, quiet to the point of discomfort. Though they sat together, neither spoke, and the silence grew suffocating.
Finally, Chen Nan gripped his glass and flung it at the wall with a sharp crash.
The sound of shattering glass was piercing, jolting the silence.
“Sheng Qian, did you already plan to go abroad? Did you ever even think of going to college with us, or were you always planning to leave?!” Chen Nan couldn’t hold it back any longer.
He couldn’t stop himself from questioning, from venting, his voice shaking with emotion.
His eyes were red, as if he was on the verge of tears.
And Sheng Qian responded only with silence.
That silence drove Chen Nan to the edge of frustration.
What was Sheng Qian to him, really?
Chen Nan had been thinking about it carefully over the past few days.
Honestly, nothing much… what could he mean, really? It’s not like he couldn’t live without him. Life would be just the same with or without Sheng Qian. He’d have one less person nagging him, and they barely talked on most days anyway, with Sheng Qian often giving him the cold shoulder. He wasn’t smart, nor did he want to overthink things, and Sheng Qian knew that well enough, yet he would sometimes leave things unsaid, making Chen Nan guess, which he found endlessly frustrating.
But still… he couldn’t bear the thought of losing Sheng Qian.
Even thinking about it made him feel a strange kind of embarrassment. Chen Nan would have scoffed at such a thought in the past. Two Alphas, really? This clingy, sticky sentiment—how ridiculous.
But he really couldn’t let go.
He had known Sheng Qian since kindergarten, even before he met Lu Jingran. They had always been like oil and water, but Chen Nan knew that Sheng Qian was always the one to compromise.
As long as Sheng Qian was around, Chen Nan felt a deep, unexplainable sense of reassurance, like it was an instinct.
But now, he was saying he was going to leave him. Completely. Maybe tomorrow’s meeting would be their last, and after that, they might never see each other again.
Just thinking about it felt like a part of Chen Nan’s heart was being torn away, leaving him in such pain—so much pain that he even felt a bit wronged.
Why did he have to hurt him like this?
“Is it really that great abroad? So much that you just have to go?”
“Sheng Qian, do you remember what we said? That one day we’d settle down, marry Omegas, live next door to each other? One building for you, one for me. Our kids would go to kindergarten together. Didn’t you agree to that?!”
“…” Sheng Qian responded quietly, “Yes.”
“Then why doesn’t it count now?!” Chen Nan grabbed Sheng Qian by the collar, pulling him up, demanding, “Why?! Was everything you said just nonsense?! Huh?!”
Sheng Qian’s clothes were a mess from Chen Nan’s grip, but he let himself be held like that, his usually gentle, handsome face unreadable and cold.
It seemed he had no intention of answering Chen Nan’s questions.
Or perhaps he didn’t know how to respond.
How could he explain it… His feelings, his desire for him—as an Alpha, he had fallen for another Alpha. That kind of attraction where he wanted to completely possess him, to tear him apart with his own hands.
He wanted to see Chen Nan melt in his arms, unable to move, wanted to do to him everything he’d do with an Omega. He wanted to mark him with his pheromones from head to toe, making him his forever.
These wild, irrational thoughts had taken root back in middle school, and he had carried them all the way to high school, enduring this whole time.
Sheng Qian looked up at Chen Nan.
His eyes were slightly red from drinking, and the hurt in his gaze cut deep into Sheng Qian’s heart.
“Yes,” Sheng Qian thought, letting the pain fester like an open wound.
“Everything I said was nonsense.”
I don’t want to lose you, you fool.
But if I stay, what can I do…
