After Pretending to be a Beta, the Omega was Discovered by the School Heartthrob Chapter 55

The other party’s eyes moved slowly over each of their hands resting on Zhou Le, his gaze sharp and cutting like a blade.

Yi….

A collective shiver ran through the group. They immediately pulled their hands back, straightened their backs, and stood at attention like soldiers, fingers glued to their pants seams, just short of saluting.

When Zhou Le caught sight of Lu Jingran, his eyes lit up instantly.

“Class rep! You’re back!”

“The class rep recovered so fast! That’s amazing. As expected of a top-tier Alpha—you even got through your susceptibility period so quickly…”

As they rambled on, the group suddenly realized that standing before them was a top-tier Alpha who had just finished his susceptibility period.

Without exception, they all took a step back.

Even the faint remnants of Lu Jingran’s pheromones carried an intimidating weight. As Betas, they could already feel the pressure. They couldn’t imagine how much stronger it would be for another Alpha.

But what they didn’t expect was Zhou Le darting over to Lu Jingran with a bright smile on his face. He seemed a little excited, like he wanted to say something but held back. Instead, he just lifted his gaze, scanning Lu Jingran up and down, and softly said, “You’re back.”

He didn’t even bother to call him “class rep” anymore—pretty bold, honestly.

The others silently worried for Zhou Le, but then Lu Jingran smiled.

His eyes focused on Zhou Le’s face, and the corners of his lips lifted slightly.

It was the kind of smile that seemed involuntary, as if he couldn’t help but smile just from looking at Zhou Le.

The group exchanged glances, collectively feeling a sense of desolation. *It really is different for Omegas. Alphas actually cherish them. Poor us—a bunch of pitiful Betas. Boo-hoo.*

Seeing that Lu Jingran had returned safely, Zhou Le was elated. The last bit of gloom in his heart completely dissipated.

Classes resumed as normal, and Lu Jingran was back.

Zhou Le wanted to catch him to ask a bunch of questions: how he’d been these past few days, whether his mood was okay, if he’d been eating on time, if he still felt uncomfortable, whether Zhou Le’s pheromones had affected him, or if they’d hurt him.

But he couldn’t catch him.

After the first class break, Lu Jingran was called away for a student council meeting. Apparently, there was an upcoming exchange program with an international school, and students from grades 10 and 11, excluding grade 12, were being selected as hosts.

Zhou Le didn’t see him the entire morning. The only interaction was when Lu Jingran looked back at him before leaving the classroom.

By lunchtime, Lu Jingran still hadn’t returned. Sheng Qian guessed that he might have gone out to eat with the student council and told Zhou Le not to wait for him.

Zhou Le nodded in agreement but didn’t leave. He stayed in the classroom, partly to wait for Lu Jingran and partly because he had nowhere else to go. Xia Linchuan had gone to an internet café, and Lin Xiaoxiao had gone to a bookstore to pick out magazines.

Zhou Le went up to the top floor, where the large conference room was located. The student council often held their meetings there. As Zhou Le got closer, he could vaguely hear voices coming from inside. He didn’t dare to go in and listened outside for a while before leaving, disappointed.

It seemed the meeting would take a while to finish.

Just as this thought crossed his mind, a sudden force grabbed him and pulled him into the restroom nearby.

His head was cushioned as he was pressed against the wall, the person’s hand firmly gripping his waist.

Zhou Le instinctively struggled, but then a familiar scent filled his nose. He froze, wide-eyed, staring at the person in front of him.

It was Lu Jingran, his breathtakingly handsome face close to his. The dim restroom light cast soft shadows on the slight smirk at the corner of his lips.

Lu Jingran rarely displayed such playful expressions, like a boy teasing his crush.

Surprised and delighted, Zhou Le exclaimed, “What are you doing here? Aren’t you supposed to be in the meeting?”

“I caught your scent, so I came out,” The Alpha replied in a deep, velvety voice, his tone flirtatious and heart-stirring.

Only then did Zhou Le realize their current position: he was practically in Lu Jingran’s arms, face-to-face, their eyes locked.

Feeling self-conscious, Zhou Le’s cheeks flushed. He tried to move away, but as soon as he shifted, Lu Jingran tightened his hold. His face lowered, and their noses almost brushed.

Zhou Le leaned back, still unaccustomed to such intimacy.

Noticing this, a trace of disappointment flickered in Lu Jingran’s eyes, and after a moment, his grip loosened slightly.

“You don’t like?” he asked, his gaze unwavering.

“Huh? Like what?” Zhou Le was confused.

“What you said the other day—was it all a lie?”

As Lu Jingran spoke, it seemed like he hurt himself with the mere suggestion. His deep, dark eyes were tinged with sadness.

He had been dwelling on it for days, wondering if Zhou Le’s confession during his susceptible period had been a delusion, a misunderstanding, or just a comforting lie.

He hadn’t dared to confirm it, too afraid to hear that it wasn’t real. Throughout his susceptible period, he didn’t even contact Zhou Le, terrified that hearing the truth would drive him over the edge.

In a way, every Alpha teeters on the brink of madness during their susceptible period. The higher their rank, the thinner the line between reason and chaos.

Lu Jingran had known this truth intellectually, but he hadn’t truly felt it—until he fell for Zhou Le. Until he heard Zhou Le’s confession.

“What… what lie?” Zhou Le stammered, confused at first. But seeing the look in Lu Jingran’s eyes, he quickly understood. “No! It wasn’t a lie! I meant it!”

“I wasn’t lying. I like…” Zhou Le hesitated, flustered. He wasn’t used to being so direct, and his voice trailed off. “I like you.”

“It’s true… I wasn’t lying.”

The Alpha’s scent filled the air, exuding joy. He seemed very satisfied with Zhou Le’s words.

Zhou Le grew more uncomfortable after speaking, especially since Lu Jingran was still holding him.

“Maybe you should let go—”

Before he could finish, Lu Jingran leaned in completely.

He embraced Zhou Le tightly, resting his cheek against his forehead, then against his own cheek, nuzzling gently.

It wasn’t possessive or lustful—just a tender, heartfelt gesture.

Zhou Le’s heart melted. Tentatively, he lifted his arms and hugged Lu Jingran back, ever so slightly.

“Don’t be scared…” Zhou Le whispered.

“I love you… for real.”

Zhou Le’s school registration had already been updated, but some formalities still needed to be filed with the education bureau.

The next evening during study hall, his homeroom teacher,  Xu Yue, called him to the office to fill out paperwork.

Sitting next to her was another teacher from the neighboring class. He was watching the hallway monitors to supervise the cleaning duty at their classroom entrance.

Seeing Zhou Le beside him, the teacher couldn’t resist a lecture. “You really thought you could hide this? Do you know what kind of trouble it could have caused if you lost control during a special period? You’d have been a problem for the entire school. How could you be so careless?”

Though not one of Zhou Le’s teachers, he nodded obediently and said nothing, quietly accepting the reprimand.

“Teacher, this is from Class 9’s homeroom teacher.”

It was Lu Jingran’s voice.

Zhou Le looked up, and sure enough, it was him.

“Oh, thank you, thank you! Just leave it here,” the teacher said, his tone changing completely as he smiled at Lu Jingran.

The other teachers immediately called Lu Jingran over, clearly having something to discuss.

Standing beside Xu Yue’s desk, Zhou Le filled out his forms absentmindedly, sneaking glances at Lu Jingran whenever he could.

Lu Jingran, for his part, kept looking at Zhou Le too. When their eyes met, he couldn’t help but chuckle softly.

“Hmm? What’s so funny? You agree with my proposal for the international exchange program, don’t you?” a teacher asked, laughing.

“Yes,” Lu Jingran replied, though he had no idea what the proposal was about.

“Haha, I knew it! I’ll report this to the principal this afternoon. Thanks for your hard work, Jingran.”

“You’re the one working hard, Teacher,” Lu Jingran said with a slight bow. Despite his towering height and imposing presence, his respectful demeanor was captivating.

Just standing there in his school uniform, he was impossible to ignore.

This boy—this incredible boy—was now Zhou Le’s boyfriend.

Help… Zhou Le’s heart raced wildly.

“What are you staring at?” Xu Yue snapped, knocking on the desk. “Fill out the form, or do you not plan on going back to class?”

Snapping out of his daze, Zhou Le blinked and hurriedly returned to filling out the form.

He finished just as Lu Jingran wrapped up his conversation with the teachers.

As he was about to leave, Xu Yue warned Zhou Le, “Now that you’re an Omega, you’d better keep your distance from the Alphas in your class.”

“Oh,” Zhou Le obediently replied.

As soon as he said that, Lu Jingran walked over and stood beside him.

“Teacher, if there’s nothing else, I’ll take him back now. Class is about to start.”

Xu Yue: “…”

Xu Yue: “Go on, then.”

Lu Jingran and Zhou Le walked out of the office together.

Watching the two of them leave side by side, Xu Yue couldn’t help but feel uneasy.

The teacher next to her noticed and chuckled, “Oh, Teacher Xu, don’t tell me you suspect something between Zhou Le and Lu Jingran?”

“Teacher Xu, you’re overthinking this,” the teacher teased, sipping her tea. “What kind of Alpha is Lu Jingran? No way he’d be interested in someone like Zhou Le—a poor kid.”

But just as she said that, she glanced at the surveillance feed showing the hallway behind her class.

In the footage, Lu Jingran naturally reached out and took Zhou Le’s hand, tucking it into his pocket.

“…”

The teacher spat out her tea in shock.

“You’d better pretend you didn’t see that. Trust me,” Xu Yue said calmly, standing up with her lesson plan and walking out.

The teacher stared at the screen, utterly dumbfounded.

Since confirming their relationship, Zhou Le felt like even the air had gotten sweeter lately. Sometimes, during class, just looking at the back of Lu Jingran’s head made him grin uncontrollably.

Lin Xiaoxiao, noticing this, shook her head in disbelief. “I can’t believe it. In the end, you’re the one who got the class rep.”

“Huh?” Zhou Le didn’t quite catch what she said.

Lin Xiaoxiao leaned in with a mischievous smile. “How’s the class rep’s kissing technique?”

!

Zhou Le’s face turned beet red in an instant. “Wh-what nonsense are you talking about?!”

Lin Xiaoxiao grinned. “What? You mean… you guys haven’t even gone on a date yet?”

A date…?

Zhou Le fell silent.

Now that she mentioned it, after confirming their relationship, they hadn’t really gone on a proper date. The closest thing to one was probably… well, not much at all.

Usually, they just saw each other during commutes, had lunch together, and maybe chatted over video calls after he finished his delivery job in the evenings.

The routine was mostly Zhou Le lying in bed, keeping him company while he worked on homework, only to fall asleep to the sound of his pen scratching against the paper.

By the time Zhou Le woke up, his phone would have run out of battery. Charging it and turning it back on, the first thing he’d see was always Lu Jingran’s morning message.

At 5:30 a.m. sharp, without fail.

Zhou Le also noticed that their video calls often ended around midnight, which probably meant Lu Jingran was studying until then. It made sense—his academic performance was definitely earned through sheer effort.

But for a real date, they’d need to go out shopping, watch a movie, have dinner. Zhou Le calculated his savings—he didn’t have enough to buy Lu Jingran clothes, but going out for a meal and a movie was within his budget.

Thinking about how he hadn’t initiated anything yet, Zhou Le decided this was a good opportunity.

When he told Lu Jingran the news, Lu Jingran’s face lit up with a smile. “You’re treating me?”

If it weren’t for the fact that he was holding a mop and students were passing by, Lu Jingran might have pulled Zhou Le into his arms right then and there.

“Yep!” Zhou Le nodded earnestly. “I have money! Are you free on Saturday?”

Ignoring Sheng Qian’s gaze from nearby, Lu Jingran replied, “I’m always free when it comes to you.”

“Great!” Zhou Le was relieved, worried that Lu Jingran might have tutoring or something. “Then Saturday morning it is.”

“Sounds perfect.”

After Zhou Le left, Lu Jingran glanced over at Sheng Qian.

Sheng Qian picked up the cue. “I’ll let my uncle know you can’t make it to his birthday party. Don’t worry.”

“Thanks.”

On Saturday morning, Lu Jingran picked him up, and they spent the day eating, shopping, and eventually catching a movie.

Unfortunately, the timing wasn’t great, and there weren’t many good movies playing. Zhou Le chose one that looked decent based on its flashy poster.

When he made his choice, Lu Jingran glanced at him. “Are you… sure about this one?”

“Yeah, why not? Don’t you like it? If not, you can pick…”

“No, it’s fine if you like it,” Lu Jingran said, smiling faintly. “I just didn’t expect you to go for something like this.”

Something like this?

Was it that strange? Zhou Le didn’t think so.

To him, movies with big visuals and effects were worth it for the immersive experience in a theater, which couldn’t be matched by watching at home. That way, the money felt well-spent.

But he hadn’t expected it to be a horror movie.

And not just any horror movie—one with top-notch, hyper-realistic effects. Every penny spent on the ticket felt worth it.

Too worth it, in fact, because Zhou Le was scared out of his wits.

His heart raced uncontrollably as the director’s bizarre camera angles and grotesque close-ups, paired with bone-chilling music, left him utterly terrified.

Eventually, he couldn’t take it anymore and grabbed Lu Jingran’s arm, using it to shield his eyes.

Lu Jingran could feel Zhou Le’s trembling through his grip.

“If you’re this scared, maybe we should leave. We don’t have to keep watching.”

“But we paid for it…” Zhou Le was hesitant.

“There’s not much story left anyway. We can just call it done.”

Zhou Le still wavered.

Sensing this, Lu Jingran added, “I’m kind of scared too. It’s really intense.”

He even frowned slightly, looking more pitiful than Zhou Le himself.

“Well… okay, let’s go,” Zhou Le relented as soon as he heard that.

Once they stepped out of the theater, Zhou Le let out a long sigh of relief. Glancing at Lu Jingran walking beside him, he mumbled under his breath, “Such a fail.”

“Hm?”

“Today’s… date.” It was a failure. In hindsight, even a cheesy romance movie would’ve been better than that.

“Failed, huh…” Lu Jingran’s lashes lowered, his tone carrying a hint of something deeper. “I don’t think so.”

Before Zhou Le could react, his hand was taken, and in the next instant, he was pressed against the wall of the dimly lit restroom stall in the movie theater.

The dim lighting cast an ambiguous atmosphere over the room.

Outside the stall, people were still chatting about the movie.

Zhou Le’s heart was racing as if it would leap out of his chest. He looked up at Lu Jingran, both flustered and nervous.

What… is he… doing?!

Before he could complete the thought, Lu Jingran leaned in, cupping the back of his head and guiding him into a kiss.

Sparks exploded in Zhou Le’s mind.

The taste of the Alpha’s pheromones overwhelmed him, stirring and teasing him, as if they were consuming him entirely.

His legs went weak, and a shiver ran down his spine.

By the time it ended, Zhou Le’s eyes, half-rolled upward, were misty with soft wetness.

“I don’t think it was a failure,” Lu Jingran said with satisfaction, his fingers gently wiping the corner of Zhou Le’s eye. His smile was full of contentment. “It was perfect.”

“Thank you for the date.”
