An Alpha could hardly resist such temptation, especially not him.
If it weren’t for the last shred of rationality holding him back, Lu Jingran might have already carried Zhou Le straight to bed.
Images unsuitable for the situation flitted through his mind, though he wasn’t sure if they’d scare Zhou Le.
Zhou Le was already a little scared.
Perhaps he had been bold moments ago, but when Lu Jingran firmly gripped his chin, a wave of regret washed over him.
The feeling of being forced made him instinctively fearful, and even his eyelashes trembled.
Noticing this, Lu Jingran let him go.
After a pause, he frowned and said, “Go to sleep.”
But seeing that Zhou Le’s expression hadn’t relaxed, Zhou Le tugged at him.
“Or… I-I can use my mouth. That’s… okay too.”
Lu Jingran narrowed his eyes.
Reason told him to refuse, but his entire body felt ablaze at those words.
He was a beat too slow to respond.
He wanted to say something, but Zhou Le seemed to have made up his mind. He knelt down, glanced up at Lu Jingran, and then parted his soft lips.
D*mn.
Lu Jingran drew in a sharp breath.

The next day, Chen Nan was surprised not to see Zhou Le in class.
Usually, when Zhou Le stayed at Lu Jingran’s house, they would go to school together. But today, Zhou Le was nowhere to be seen.
At first, Chen Nan didn’t think much of it—maybe Zhou Le had gone home last night. But when he wasn’t at school either, and Lu Jingran seemed unfazed as ever, Chen Nan started to feel suspicious.
“Where’s Zhou Le? Didn’t he stay at your place last night?”
Lu Jingran glanced at him upon hearing the question.
That single glance sent a chill down Chen Nan’s spine.
“Bro- Brother Lu, what, what’s wrong?”
Lu Jingran asked, “What did you tell him yesterday?”
“What… what did I say to Zhou Le?” Chen Nan asked, confused. Then it dawned on him. “Oh, I just mentioned that you’d left your pheromones on him and said it might’ve been because you were holding back. I even suggested that maybe the two of you should just… you know…?”
“Wait, you two actually did it?” Chen Nan suddenly pieced it together. “No way, Brother Lu! That’s so intense—you went straight to…?! What?! You left Zhou Le so wrecked he couldn’t even get out of bed?!”
Lu Jingran’s gaze was cool. “Do you believe that Sheng Qian could do the same to you—leave you stuck in bed?”
Chen Nan: “…”
Embarrassed, Chen Nan muttered, “Brother Lu, why are you even saying things like that?”
Lu Jingran replied, “Just don’t say unnecessary things in front of Zhou Le again. He overthinks as it is.”
In the past, Lu Jingran had believed that he was the one lacking security in their relationship. After all, he had fallen for Zhou Le first and feared his feelings might not be reciprocated.
Even though he knew he had many strengths, love had a way of rendering them insignificant. It made him overthink and fear loss.
Now, Zhou Le was the same—worried about his discomfort and willing to sacrifice his own comfort to please him.
Still, they hadn’t done anything last night. They were just high schoolers, and even though they were of age, they hadn’t experienced much of the world. They hadn’t gone to college or entered society yet. Maybe one day Zhou Le would meet another Alpha, someone else he’d want to be with…
Just thinking about it made Lu Jingran frown, unable to suppress the uneasy feeling in his chest.
“You should be thanking me,” Chen Nan grumbled quietly. “If it weren’t for me, who knows how much longer it would’ve taken for you to finally enjoy a ‘hot meal.’”
“What are you eating?” Sheng Qian asked as he approached with a book in hand.
“He said he wants something hot,” Lu Jingran replied casually.
Sheng Qian paused, then turned to look at Chen Nan.
Chen Nan’s face flushed bright red. “N-no! Not that kind of hot meal! I don’t eat that—I don’t want to eat that!”
“Sheng Qian, what’s with that look on your face? Don’t you dare think about it!”
—
During lunch, Lu Jingran didn’t eat with Chen Nan or Sheng Qian. Instead, he went home to pick up Zhou Le for their afternoon classes.
At the dining table, Xu Zhen—usually warm and gentle—looked uncharacteristically stern. “Little Le, tell Auntie the truth. Were you bullied last night?”
As she spoke, she shot a fierce glare at Lu Jingran.
Zhou Le, who had just finished a sip of milk, nearly spat it out.
It was the first time Lu Jingran had ever been “scolded” by his mother. He didn’t look the least bit chastised, though—in fact, he even lowered his head, a faint smile playing on his lips.
Xu Zhen pressed on, “Little Le, don’t be afraid. If you’ve been wronged, tell Auntie. I’ll stand up for you.”
After a pause, she added, “And if Auntie can’t handle it, I’ll tell your uncle, and *he’ll* stand up for you.”
This dynamic was typical in their family. If Xu Zhen couldn’t manage something, she’d involve Lu Jingran’s father, Lu Jincheng. However, Lu Jingran was usually obedient, and disagreements between him and Xu Zhen were rare. Today’s “argument” was a significant event.
“No, no! Auntie, we’re fine—really!” Zhou Le quickly assured her.
Seeing that Zhou Le wasn’t willing to say more, Xu Zhen dropped the matter for now.
But when she was seeing them off for school, she couldn’t help pulling Lu Jingran aside. “You can’t treat your Omega like this.”
Lu Jingran raised an eyebrow. “What did I do?”
Xu Zhen frowned. “Did you not see the marks on him? Bruises everywhere—what did you do to him last night?”
She hadn’t noticed anything unusual at first. But when Lu Jingran mentioned in the morning that Zhou Le wasn’t feeling well, she began to worry. Around noon, she decided to check on Zhou Le, thinking that if his condition was serious, he might need to see a doctor.
When she entered the room, Zhou Le had just finished changing clothes. Startled by her sudden appearance, he hastily put his shirt back on.
That’s when Xu Zhen caught a glimpse of the bruises on his body—entirely by accident.
“If you continue to act so out of line, even though you’re my son, I’ll still report you to the authorities,” Xu Zhen said sternly, her expression serious.
Lu Jingran felt a twinge of doubt after hearing her description.
He had indeed lost a bit of control last night—Zhou Le had teased him too much. Afterward, he had checked Zhou Le’s body carefully. It was red and swollen but not bruised. How did it turn into blue and purple marks?
“I understand. I’ll check on him this afternoon.”
It wasn’t until just before school ended that Lu Jingran finally had the time.
During gym class, with no one in the classroom, he dragged Zhou Le into the restroom at the end of the corridor.
The Alpha’s slender fingers slipped under Zhou Le’s school uniform waistband.
“What are you dodging for?” Lu Jingran asked.
“I’m not.”
“Did I bite too hard?”
“No… stop touching me,” Zhou Le whimpered, his voice soft and trembling as if he was about to cry.
The Alpha’s fingers moved like a wildfire spreading across his body, making Zhou Le shiver with every touch. He bit his lip hard to suppress any strange noises in the cramped bathroom stall.
Lu Jingran’s intentions had been exposed. Zhou Le’s skin was delicate, smooth, and elastic under his fingertips. What was meant to be a “check-up” had quickly devolved into something entirely different—pinching, rubbing, caressing.
The Alpha’s jaw tightened with desire.
If they weren’t at school, he might have lost control long ago.
“Stop tempting me like this next time,” Lu Jingran cupped Zhou Le’s face, his expression serious. “I’m afraid I might lose control and actually hurt you.”
!
What?! That scary?
Zhou Le thought back to the night before when he’d been pushed to his limits. He wasn’t even sure what set Lu Jingran off, but he’d been tossed around until his strength was completely drained. By morning, his entire body was sore, and he could barely get out of bed—he just wanted to sleep.
“You’re just scaring me,” Zhou Le said, trying to act coy.
“I’m not,” Lu Jingran replied firmly.
Zhou Le’s eyes darted around mischievously, and he pushed at Lu Jingran, retreating slightly. “Then I’m not going home with you tonight. I’ll go back to my own house.”
Before he could finish speaking, Lu Jingran’s arm, wrapped around his waist, tightened and pulled him back.
The look on Lu Jingran’s face was intense, clearly displeased with Zhou Le’s suggestion.
“You’re bullying me!” Zhou Le accused.
“First, you say I shouldn’t tease you, but now you won’t let me leave. How is everything my fault?”
Lu Jingran felt his heart melt into a puddle. Lowering his head, he kissed Zhou Le’s lips gently, coaxing him. “It’s my fault.”
“Don’t worry—I won’t hurt you. At most…” His voice trailed off, dark amusement flickering in his eyes. At most, I’ll make you cry. Cry until the sheets are soaked, cry until you only need my pheromones to live.
It was only at that moment that Lu Jingran realized, and grudgingly admitted to himself, that an Alpha is little more than a creature driven by uncontrollable instincts—a crazed, obsessive being, especially when faced with their own Omega.
Looking down at Zhou Le, who had his eyes closed and was quietly enduring his kisses, Lu Jingran’s mind swirled with a hundred ways to make him cry. Even just imagining it made his blood roar with excitement.
