After Pretending to be a Beta, the Omega was Discovered by the School Heartthrob Chapter 61

During the summer break of their second year, Zhou Le’s hard work paid off. His grades had finally reached the threshold for top-tier universities, and he was filled with confidence for the upcoming third year.

Throughout the summer, he focused on patching up his weaker subjects under Lu Jingran’s supervision.

Lin Xiaoxiao and Xia Linchuan also joined in.

Inspired by Zhou Le’s determination, the six of them formed a small study group, transforming their summer into a passionate learning journey.

To make things easier, Sheng Qian arranged for a private study room at the city library just for their group. The package even included transportation services—although those were mostly for Lin Xiaoxiao and Xia Linchuan, since the others had their own family drivers.

Zhou Le was very familiar to Lin Xiaoxiao and Xia Linchuan, but he had never seen them this enthusiastic about studying before.

Lin Xiaoxiao explained it simply: “Haven’t you heard the saying, ‘When one person ascends to greatness, their friends benefit too*’? Clearly, I’m that dog here.”
* this is the meaning but they describe the saying with dog and chicken

Xia Linchuan added with a smirk, “Then I must be the chicken.”

In essence, the three of them used to be part of the “slacker squad.” But after Zhou Le got close to Lu Jingran, they realized they couldn’t afford to waste such a valuable learning resource. They clung to Zhou Le, determined to climb the ranks alongside him.

“Strike while the iron is hot! Why let such a great opportunity go to waste? With the school’s top student around, who wouldn’t be tempted to improve? Of course we’re sticking to Zhou Le like glue!”

Zhou Le turned his gaze to Chen Nan, who had also joined the study group. In the first couple of days, Chen Nan actually did some homework. After that, however, he either played games or napped—once even snoring so loudly it sounded like someone had turned on a kettle.

“Don’t look at me,” Chen Nan said, not even glancing up from his game. “I’m just here to soak in the atmosphere. Doesn’t mean I’ll study.”

“…”

No one could understand what he was trying to “soak in.”

As the summer break neared its end, their efforts paid off. Lu Jingran gave them a mock exam, and Zhou Le’s score had improved by nearly 50 points. Lin Xiaoxiao and Xia Linchuan made similar progress, with Lu Jingran estimating they could advance by 70-80 ranks in the upcoming term.

Chen Nan, on the other hand, had leveled up his gaming rank. His inbox was flooded with friend requests, and unless they were from pretty girls, he ignored them all.

Feeling accomplished, Chen Nan suggested they take a trip to relax before school started.

His family owned a private estate that also catered to high-end clients. The estate, styled like a European castle hidden in the woods, featured everything from outdoor pools and champagne fountains to luxury cinemas, KTV rooms, banquet performances, and even fishing.

Chen Nan generously offered to cover all expenses for a five-day, four-night stay.

After an intense summer of studying, everyone was eager for a break. Zhou Le was especially excited. Seeing the joy on his face, Lu Jingran’s expression softened, but a complicated emotion flickered in his eyes.

With only ten days left until school starts—how did it go by so fast?

Lu Jingran looked up, catching Sheng Qian’s gaze as it shifted from the equally excited Chen Nan.

The two exchanged a glance and simultaneously looked down, their expressions detached from the playful anticipation of the upcoming trip.

There was no trace of lightheartedness on their faces; instead, there was a hint of heaviness.

But the decision to take this trip was so thrilling that no one noticed their moods.

At the Manor

“Wow, is that a foreign guy? He’s so handsome!” Lin Xiaoxiao exclaimed the moment they arrived, immediately distracted.

Xia Linchuan glanced into the distance. “Probably. His hair’s different from ours.”

Before Lin Xiaoxiao could finish marveling, another handsome man passed by and greeted her. She nearly swooned.

Chen Nan explained casually, “That’s normal. This is a manor, after all. A lot of foreigners love coming here.”

The check-in area was dazzling, filled with gilded opulence, and Zhou Le couldn’t help but blink repeatedly at the spectacle.

“Six rooms,” Chen Nan said, tossing a card onto the counter. Then he paused. “Wait—how many rooms do you two need?”

Zhou Le froze at the question.

How many rooms? Isn’t it one room per person?

Chen Nan gave them a knowing look. “You two still need separate rooms? Haven’t you already—uh—crossed that bridge? Right, Brother Lu?”

Zhou Le’s face turned red, his mind blank and incapable of responding. To make matters worse, Chen Nan wasn’t wrong.

“Five rooms,” Lu Jingran said calmly.

Chen Nan grinned. “See? That’s more like it—saving resources. Right, I’ll take five rooms on the same floor. I’ve already arranged it with my aunt.”

“Of course. One moment, please,” the receptionist replied, tapping on the computer before handing over the keys. “Here you go, five rooms as requested.”

Chen Nan started distributing the room cards, but when he handed them to Lu Jingran, the latter took two instead of one.

“?”

Lu Jingran said, “You’ll share a room with Sheng Qian. No need to thank me.”

?!?!

“WHAT?!” Chen Nan exclaimed. “Who said I’d share a room with him?!”

Lu Jingran replied matter-of-factly, “You just said we needed five rooms.”

“Brother Lu, you’re too much! I was doing this for your sake!”

Lu Jingran smirked. “I’m doing it for your sake too. You’re welcome.”

With that, he wrapped an arm around Zhou Le and headed upstairs.

Chen Nan stared at the lone room card in his hand, fuming. He threw it at Sheng Qian. “Why didn’t you say something earlier?!”

Sheng Qian looked at him blankly. “Say what?”

“That one room is fine. Otherwise, you’d sneak into mine anyway, and I’d have to get up to let you in.”

Chen Nan’s face turned beet red. “What are you implying?! Like I’d ever willingly share a room with you! When have I ever snuck into your room? Stop talking nonsense!”

Ignoring him, Sheng Qian picked up their suitcases and headed upstairs.

Chen Nan, still fuming, yanked his suitcase toward the door. “I’m going to find my aunt right now! I’d rather sleep in her office than stay with you!”

Sheng Qian sighed helplessly as he watched him storm off.

Zhou Le had imagined the rooms would be big, but he hadn’t expected this big. The view from the floor-to-ceiling windows was breathtaking, offering a panorama of the entire manor—absolutely stunning.

After settling their luggage, the group headed to the buffet area for dinner.

The manor’s dining hall was quiet and orderly. Despite being crowded, it was remarkably serene.

Zhou Le ended up stuffed, thanks to Lu Jingran’s constant feeding. During dinner, Lu Jingran received a phone call and stepped out. Shortly after, Sheng Qian also got a call and left. Neither had returned by the time dinner was over.

Lin Xiaoxiao left right after eating, saying she wanted to take scenic photos to post on social media. Xia Linchuan, captivated by the esports setup, barely ate before wiping his mouth and leaving.

This left just Zhou Le and Chen Nan at the table.

After a while, Chen Nan lost patience and called Sheng Qian, who didn’t pick up. Frustrated, he hung up. “Are those two coming back or not?!”

“The buffet ends in ten minutes,” Zhou Le said, concerned. “I don’t think this place allows takeout.”

Chen Nan scratched his chin. “It’s possible… but it’s such a hassle.”

Zhou Le didn’t mind. Hearing that it was allowed, he called a server and began packing up Lu Jingran’s favorite dishes, even asking the staff to keep them warm.

Watching Zhou Le pack with such enthusiasm, Chen Nan suddenly thought of Sheng Qian’s hypothetical hungry expression.

He couldn’t stand it. Reluctantly, he called a server and started packing food as well.

Looking at the packed meals, Chen Nan muttered, “Sheng Qian, if you don’t eat this, I swear I’ll force-feed you.”

For someone as pampered as Chen Nan, this was the first time he’d brought food for someone else.

The two waited a while longer, but it got boring. Chen Nan eventually went off to play games with Xia Linchuan.

Alone and restless, Zhou Le decided to look for Lu Jingran.

Over the past few days, he had grown so accustomed to Lu Jingran’s presence that being without him felt strange.

Maybe I can find him by following his pheromones?

The air carried a faint trace of a scent similar to Lu Jingran’s. Following it, Zhou Le found the foreigner Lin Xiaoxiao had gushed about earlier—a blond young man with striking European features, bright eyes, and fair skin unique to his ethnicity.

Surprisingly, the man was fishing.

Curious, Zhou Le approached. The foreigner noticed him immediately.

“Hi~” the young man greeted warmly, turning to look at him. “Want to fish too?”

His Mandarin was flawless, spoken with a natural accent.

Zhou Le was momentarily surprised before shaking his head. “No, I’m just looking for someone. Hello.”

The foreigner glanced Zhou Le up and down and exclaimed sincerely, “You’re so small.”

“Are you an Omega?”

Zhou Le nodded.

The foreigner stared at Zhou Le with his bright green eyes, blinking a few times and looking for so long that Zhou Le felt embarrassed and turned away.

Suddenly, the still water splashed—there was a bite on the line.

Zhou Le called out to alert him, and the foreigner finally noticed.

When he tried to reel it in, the fish thrashed so vigorously that he couldn’t manage it alone. Zhou Le stepped in to help steady the rod.

Their fingertips brushed against each other, and the foreigner glanced down, noticing how Zhou Le’s fingers had turned white from exertion.

The fish was finally pulled up—a vibrant red koi.

“Beautiful!” the foreigner exclaimed, genuinely surprised.

He smiled at Zhou Le. “You’re my lucky charm. As soon as you came over, I caught one.”

Zhou Le didn’t know how to respond, so he smiled politely. He still needed to find someone.

Just as he turned to leave, the foreigner grabbed his arm.

“What’s your name?”

“… Zhou Le.”

“Nice to meet you. My name is Shen Tang. That’s my Chinese name.”

“Oh, okay.”

When Zhou Le shifted his arm, Shen Tang realized he was being impolite and quickly let go. “Sorry about that.”

“It’s fine…”

Zhou Le eventually found Lu Jingran in another garden.

He was standing there, seemingly smoking.

As Zhou Le got closer, however, Lu Jingran wasn’t holding anything in his hands.

“What’s wrong?” Zhou Le asked, sensing that something was off.

This version of Lu Jingran was reminiscent of the time when he couldn’t have Zhou Le—melancholic and despondent.

His cold and distant demeanor made him seem unapproachable, with even his pheromones carrying a chilly, frosty scent.

Upon seeing Zhou Le, Lu Jingran extinguished the cigarette with a single hand.
