After Rebirth, I Am the White Moonlight of All The Big Brothers Chapter 103

Chapter 103: His Question and the Beginning of NOI

“Wait.”

Jiang Fuyue turned around, her tone calm. “Is there something you need?”

“Have you studied quantum mechanics?”

“I know a bit.”

The man’s eyes showed scrutiny. “I believe it’s more than just a bit?”

Jiang Fuyue shrugged. “Believe what you want.”

Xie Dingyuan frowned. He was handsome, with every gesture radiating an aura of elegance. Unfortunately, his eyes were too cold, harboring an underlying arrogance.

“What’s your relationship with Professor Xu?” Xie Dingyuan had wanted to ask this question since he first saw her conversing so amiably with Xu Kaiqing at the pancake shop in Linhuai.

Xu Kaiqing had come to Linhuai in search of “Chou,” and his particular affection and extraordinary indulgence toward Jiang Fuyue raised questions. Was there an inevitable connection between the two…..

Moreover, Jiang Fuyue was the first to buy the several rare books that were originally sold at the store, thanks to “Chou’s” dealings.

“What’s your relationship with ‘Chou’?” he blurted out.

Jiang Fuyue chuckled, “Mr. Xie, do you have a habit of inquiring about others’ relationships with people? Don’t you find yourself quite nosy?”

The man remained silent, his gaze sharp, as if he could instantly discern the deception behind her attempts to divert the conversation.

Jiang Fuyue had no patience for small talk and walked away.

“One day, I will find out.” The man called after her, his words measured, both a promise and a provocation.

Jiang Fuyue didn’t even look back.

Xie Dingyuan took out his phone and said, “Help me look up someone…”

Jiang Fuyue returned to the hotel in the evening.

Fanye was waiting for her to have dinner together. They bumped into Huang Hui and Gao Zhaoming along the way, so the four of them dined together.

The hotel restaurant provided a buffet for the NOI participants, and since it was mealtime, many people flocked to it. As expected, they ran into students from No. 7 High School, including the girl who had argued with Fanye in the car earlier.

“Hey, so you’ve formed a small group so quickly?” The girl who had a dispute with Fan Ye in the car earlier said.

“Keran, don’t stir up trouble,” Lin Yuan whispered from the side.

But she paid no attention: “Birds of a feather flock together, and people naturally group up. The fish sellers and shrimp catchers are together; if you stink, I stink too, and in the end, we won’t know who stinks and who doesn’t.”

This time, she not only targeted Fan Ye but also insulted Jiang Fuyue and a few others.

Huang Hui frowned, but seeing that the other party was a girl, he held his tongue.

Gao Zhaoming was more direct: “Who are you calling stinky? Do you have a problem with your nose? Can the bad odor compare to your foul mouth?”

“Pu—” Jiang Fuyue couldn’t hold back a snicker.

Keran blushed, “You, you guys, don’t get too proud! See you in the exam hall tomorrow for the real showdown!”

With that, she pulled Lin Yuan and walked away briskly.

She dragged Lin Yuan so abruptly that she nearly stumbled, and a hint of disgust flickered in her eyes, but it quickly disappeared.

Huang Hui consoled, “Little Ye, don’t mind her; you smell nice.”

“Yeah,” Gao Zhaoming vigorously nodded in agreement.

Fan Ye smiled, her eyes glistening, “You guys are really great! Don’t worry; I won’t be bullied that easily!”

“Let’s go, have dinner; tonight’s dishes are really sumptuous…”

However, Jiang Fuyue had a contemplative expression on his face.

…

That night, the hotel corridor was quiet, and suddenly, a sharp scream rang out.

“Who’s so heartless? How could they place such a large iron box at the door?”

“Keran, are you okay? Nothing happened, did it?”

A girl was crouching on the ground, her toes covered in blood, and blood was already oozing between her fingers.

“Ah, I’m bleeding!”

“What should we do?”

“Go call Teacher Zhang quickly!”

“…”

Soon, Zhang Han rushed over, pushing through the crowd. With the help of two students, he carried Keran, whose face was streaked with tears, and left in big strides.

“Everyone disperse and go back to rest; you still have the exam tomorrow!”

People began to return to their rooms.

Fanye and Jiang Fuyue were also in the crowd. On the way back, the usually talkative Fanye was strangely quiet.

Jiang Fuyue was lost in thought. “… I’ve arrived.”

Suddenly, Fanye grabbed her and there was a hint of anxiety in her eyes. “Sister Yue, she’ll be okay, right?”

“Judging by the amount of bleeding, it should be just a superficial wound.”

“Will it affect the exam tomorrow?”

Jiang Fuyue raised an eyebrow. “She bullied you, and you’re worried about her?”

“I… just asking…” Fanye mumbled softly.

“I can’t be sure. It depends on the specific situation.”

“I see…”

Jiang Fuyue patted her on the back. “Don’t overthink it. Get some rest.”

“Okay…”

The next morning, after having breakfast, everyone took a chartered bus to the exam venue.

Ten minutes before departure, Keran and the teacher from No. 7 Highschool hadn’t arrived.

“Lin Yuan, can Keran make it in time?” someone whispered.

Lin Yuan was wearing headphones, and upon hearing this, she glanced at the person and replied, “I don’t know.”

In the final three minutes, Zhang Han arrived in a hurry with Keran.

The girl who had been sharp and critical just yesterday was now sitting dejectedly in her seat, her foot wrapped in bandages, looking like a demoralized chicken.

At 9 a.m., the written part of the NOI competition officially began.

There were a total of 150 questions, mostly focused on fundamental programming knowledge. The questions weren’t overly complex, for example:

Question: What operating system is used for the NOI programming test?

Answer: Linux.

The last thirty questions were about the history of NOI and IOI, with a touch of the humanities.

At 9:10 a.m., Jiang Fuyue raised her hand and said, “Teacher, I’m done.”

Instantly, the entire examination hall’s attention focused on her, including Lin Yuan.

The invigilator remained calm. “Check your name and exam number. Ensure that your papers and draft sheets are neatly arranged.”

Jiang Fuyue followed the instructions and quietly left the examination room.

Five minutes later, Fanye, Huang Hui, and Gao Zhaoming said, “Teacher, we’re done!”

The morning exam concluded at 11:00 a.m., and everyone returned to the hotel by bus.

At that time, Jiang Fuyue and the other three were already seated in the restaurant, listening to melodious and soothing piano music while enjoying their meal.

Afterward, they each went back to their rooms to rest for a while.

At 1:00 p.m., the programming portion of the exam began.

Ten questions, spanning three hours.

The questions covered topics like: aligning output, character diamonds, Collatz conjecture, savings plans, pharmacy management, normal blood pressure, separating the digits of integers, series summation, number reversal, and turning lights on and off.

One of the more interesting questions was the pharmacy management problem.

Assume that for any given type of medication, the total inventory at the start of each day is known and will not increase through restocking within that day.

Many patients come to the pharmacy each day, each requesting a different quantity of medication. If a patient requests more medication than is available, the pharmacy will refuse the request. The manager wants to know how many patients each day fail to obtain the medication they requested.

The solution is relatively straightforward, with only three lines of input:

  • The first line represents the total quantity of medication at the start of each day, denoted as ‘m.’
  • The second line indicates the number of patients who requested medication on that day, ‘n’ (0 < n <= 100).
  • The third line consists of ‘n’ numbers, each representing the quantity of medication each patient wished to obtain (in chronological order), separated by spaces.

The output consists of a single line, representing the number of patients who failed to obtain the medication they requested that day.

The critical part of the problem is the “if(m>=a[i]) m-=a[i]; else sum++;” step, which can be overly complicated if not approached correctly, leading to a mental rut of infinite loops.

The vast computer room resounded with the continuous clicking of keyboards.

Jiang Fuyue stared at the screen, her hands almost flying over the keyboard.

Suddenly, she paused, her hands leaving the keyboard…
