Jiang Fuyue turned in her second paper.
Ling Xuan followed suit.
The two went to the cafeteria together. Just as they reached the entrance, they collided with Lin Shumo coming out.
They brushed past each other without looking.
The food at Q University was quite abundant. Jiang Fuyue took a photo and sent it to her younger brother, making him drool.
“Big sister, I want to go too! There’s so much delicious food!” He excitedly rubbed his hands.
Jiang Fuyue promised to pick him up and bring him to the capital for a two-day visit after the training camp.
“Really? Can I?” His eyes sparkled like a little deer.
Jiang Fuyue gave him another affirmative answer.
“Big sister, you’re really nice.” After saying that, the little guy became shy. His cheeks turned pink, and he buried his chin in his collar, leaving her with only a furry head on the screen.
At that moment, Jiang Fuyue couldn’t help but move her fingers.
Hmm… tempting.
“What are you thinking so happily about?”
Ling Xuan’s voice brought Jiang Fuyue’s wandering thoughts back. She lowered her gaze, picked up a piece of ribs, and casually replied, “Nothing.”
Ling Xuan’s eyes flickered slightly. Knowing that she didn’t want to say, he didn’t inquire further.
Very tactful.
The two silently finished their lunch and returned to their respective dorms.
On the way, Jiang Fuyue ran into an acquaintance who wasn’t exactly a friend.
“Hello, I’m Ren Xinghe. You should remember me, right? I’m also from Linhuai.”
“Is there something?” Jiang Fuyue was polite but distant, clear and cool.
The young man didn’t change his smiling expression, as if he didn’t perceive her coldness. “We’re fellow townsmen. Let’s get to know each other, so we can look out for each other in the future.”
“En.”
“I’m currently taking language training courses,” he said, sighing and looking somewhat melancholic. There was a hint of shyness in his expression. “I thought my English was pretty good, but when it comes to practical application, it’s not as smooth as I expected.”
Jiang Fuyue didn’t respond, so he continued, “When you explained the third question in the auditorium the other day, it was all in English, fluent and authentic. Have you been practicing since childhood?”
“If you have something to say, just say it. There’s no need to beat around the bush.” Jiang Fuyue cut to the chase.
Ren Xinghe’s expression stiffened, and he remained silent for a while.
Jiang Fuyue didn’t want to waste more time, so she walked around him and left.
“Wait!”
She didn’t look back.
Ren Xinghe caught up with her and stood in front of her. “Can you tell me how you learned English?”
Apparently, his previous method of memorizing and practicing questions wasn’t working here.
If he couldn’t graduate from the language training class quickly and return to the regular competition training, it would be challenging to keep up with the collective pace. The fate awaiting him would be ruthless elimination.
Ren Xinghe didn’t want to give up so easily.
Then, he thought of Jiang Fuyue…
“Listen, read, write, and speak.”
“?”
“That’s my method.”
“But why do I feel like you’re just brushing me off?” Ren Xinghe questioned.
Jiang Fuyue didn’t get angry or explain. She simply said, “Believe it or not.”
“Do you have any opinions about me?” he asked, with a hint of hurt in his eyes.
Jiang Fuyue shook her head, impassive. “No.”
The young man frowned, and his gaze dimmed a bit more.
Unfortunately, throwing seductive looks at a blind person didn’t move Jiang Fuyue.
“We’re fellow townsmen,” he emphasized again.
“So? Should we help each other?” Jiang Fuyue predicted his next lines.
Ren Xinghe was taken aback.
“Sorry, I don’t have the habit of helping scoundrels.”
“Who are you calling a scoundrel?” he furrowed his brows, questioning.
Jiang Fuyue raised her eyes faintly, as if implying that spending three sentences to trigger a battle gave her a sense of accomplishment.
Ren Xinghe’s eyes flickered.
“Since we’re fellow townsmen, let me give you a piece of advice: focus your efforts on the right path. Crooked ways won’t last long.”
After saying this, she left with large strides.
Ren Xinghe stood in place, watching her departing figure without turning back, his gaze revealing a trace of bitterness…
Dormitory 202.
The moment Jiang Fuyue pushed open the door, the previously lively atmosphere suddenly disappeared.
Three people stopped smiling and fell silent abruptly.
She walked in without looking askance, seemingly unaffected by the evident exclusion, calm and unyielding.
Su Qing and Chen Sichang exchanged a glance.
Jiang Fuyue washed her face in the bathroom, came out in her pajamas, and prepared to take a nap.
Little did she know that as soon as she laid down on the bed, she touched something wet…
She abruptly sat up, her sharp gaze sweeping over the three.
“Who did it?” Each word was spoken deliberately.
Su Qing crossed her arms and leaned against the wardrobe, her expression lazy. “What ‘who did it’?.”
“There’s water on my bed.”
“Oh! Is it true?” She pretended to be surprised. “It was fine. How could there be a leak in our dorm? Our dorm may be simple, but it shouldn’t leak.”
Jiang Fuyue said, “I think you guys should know why.”
Su Qing’s face darkened. “You better think before you speak. Without evidence, do you want to pin this on us?”
Chen Sichang sneered, “You really give yourself face.”
“Huh… I thought your rank was much higher. Unexpectedly, you only know some low-level tricks.”
The two exchanged a glance, realizing that things were not as they expected.
Jiang Fuyue had already walked up to the three of them. Her gaze, when it landed on Liu Ling, held a mysterious depth that wasn’t there before.
“Do you want me to teach you?”
“….What?”
Jiang Fuyue said, “Splashing water is too childish. I think we can have a more high-end play, like this—”
