Chapter 197 Young Master Zhong Disagrees, Three-Person Lunch
<Previous Chapter<Table of Contents>Next Chapter>
“Time for lunch,” Ling Xuan stepped forward.
Without running away or leaving awkwardly, he walked confidently towards Jiang Fuyue.
“Thank you,” she accepted.
Then she turned to Zhong Ziang, “As you can see, I already have lunch, so these…”
Jiang Fuyue glanced at the row of compartments laid out, “You better take them back.”
Of course, Zhong Ziang wouldn’t agree. He glanced at Ling Xuan, then at Jiang Fuyue, muttering under his breath, “Why? You accepted his takeout but won’t take the lunch I brought. What kind of logic is this?”
With a sigh, he continued, “Forget it, I’m just not worthy. Even the things I give away aren’t good enough. Fine, I accept my fate. It’s too difficult to do something properly, and it’s even harder to love someone sincerely. It seems like I’m destined to be a nobody, unable to do anything right, and top of the list for rejection…”
Jiang Fuyue: “?”
Ling Xuan: “…”
Never before had he seen such shamelessness!
“Isn’t it true?” Zhong Ziang became more and more passionate, adopting a pitiful expression, “We’re all human, it’s all lunch, maybe the lunch Ling Xuan brought is better than what I brought!”
There was a sense of gloom between their brows and eyes.
Surprisingly, it seemed to make sense.
If not for the shifting of his eyes revealing his true emotions, Jiang Fuyue would almost have believed his nonsense—
“Firstly, I can’t accept your food for no reason,”
Jiang Fuyue interrupted Zhong Ziang before he could retort, “Secondly, I didn’t accept Ling Xuan’s either. As for this,” she shook the takeout in her hand, “I paid for it myself, he just helped deliver it.”
“Lastly, please put away your dishes to make space, as I can’t fit mine.”
There was too much information for Zhong Ziang to process, leaving him bewildered for a moment.
He swallowed, pointing at the takeout in Jiang Fuyue’s hand, “So this isn’t a loving lunch from Ling Xuan?”
Jiang Fuyue: “He brought it, but it wasn’t free, I paid for it.”
Zhong Ziang understood.
In the end, wasn’t he just a delivery guy?
Suddenly, his gaze towards Ling Xuan shifted from faint wariness to open sympathy.
Although Ling Xuan’s face turned ashen, he suddenly smiled and said to Jiang Fuyue, “Let’s eat first, we’ve wasted enough time.”
“Mm,” Jiang Fuyue nodded, gesturing for Zhong Ziang to put away his food, then placing her own on the table.
Ling Xuan also took out another portion of takeout, and the two of them started eating as if there was no one else around.
Zhong Ziang watched as they ate separately, feeling a mixture of happiness and frustration.
So, Lin Shumo’s “picture deception” was just this!
Hmm…
Starting with one image, and the rest was all fabrication.
He suddenly had a brilliant idea—
“Well, um… seeing you both eat, I suddenly feel a bit hungry too. Why don’t we eat together?”
And just like that, Zhong Ziang inserted himself between the two and began eating the food he brought.
The key was, he wasn’t staying still. Occasionally, he used clean chopsticks to pick food for Jiang Fuyue. When she refused, he would start acting pitifully, causing Jiang Fuyue a headache.
Compared to Ling Xuan’s sense of propriety and moderation, Zhong Ziang was completely on the other extreme.
Spoiled, domineering, emotional, and incredibly dramatic, yet rarely genuine, incredibly lively, and full of sincerity.
And so, the three of them stood on the balcony, enjoying the breeze from the corridor as they ate.
At first glance, it seemed harmonious.
But at a second glance, the combination of two men and one woman was quite strange.
This was evident from the assistant who happened to pass by while delivering food to Xie Dingyuan…
