After Frank left, the two girls found no reason to continue wandering outside.
Back in their room, Huo Fanjin began to remove her makeup.
Jiang Fuyue picked up her phone and sent a message to Sun Qun:
Jiang Fuyue: [Who is staying in room 1607?]
Sun Qun: [Why are you asking this all of a sudden?]
Jiang Fuyue: [I have something to investigate.]
Sun Qun: [Give me a moment, I’ll check.]
Upon arriving at the hotel, the organizers provided a thick booklet to each team leader, which included the schedule and accommodation details.
After about half a minute, Sun Qun replied:
Sun Qun: [I’m not sure who specifically is staying in 1607, but the room is allocated to the R-country team.]
R-country!
Chiba Tosaki!
Jiang Fuyue wasn’t sure why she immediately thought of this name, especially since she had conflicts with other R-country contestants. However, her intuition told her it must be Chiba Tosaki!
Holding her phone, Jiang Fuyue stood by the window, her indifferent eyes revealing no specific emotions. Gazing into the distance, she exuded an inexplicable tranquility and depth.
Huo Fanjin, having finished removing her makeup, walked over: “Captain…”
“Hmm?” Jiang Fuyue turned, her eyes questioning.
“I still feel something’s odd.”
“What do you mean?”
“It’s about Frank… Although he looked just like his photos, tall and handsome, he felt so unfamiliar. Is it normal for pen pals meeting for the first time to feel this way?”
Jiang Fuyue didn’t respond.
Huo Fanjin wasn’t really looking for an explanation; she just wanted to voice her feelings.
Indeed, not receiving a response didn’t disappoint her.
Suddenly—
“I heard the top suite of the Hausenrigg Hotel has a transparent ceiling design. You can lie in bed and watch the stars.”
“Huh?” Huo Fanjin was a bit confused. How did the conversation shift to the top suite?
“Yeah, I think so.”
“Let’s go.” Jiang Fuyue turned to leave.
“Where to?”
“Book a room.”
Huo Fanjin was stunned.
Jiang Fuyue had already exited the room.
She hurried to catch up: “Wait for me…”
Ten minutes later, standing in a luxurious suite, Huo Fanjin still felt a bit dazed.
It wasn’t that Miss Huo had never seen luxury before; she had stayed in better hotels. What surprised her was—
“You didn’t go to the front desk. How did you book this room?”
They went straight from the 12th floor to the top floor. Jiang Fuyue didn’t even touch a key card; she entered a code to get in.
The ease and familiarity were like returning to her own home.
“A friend helped.”
“Oh.”
Huo Fanjin swallowed: “Are we staying here tonight?”
Jiang Fuyue shrugged: “Why not? Do you think booking it just to look at it is fun?”
“Well… Shouldn’t we inform Professor Sun?”
“No need.”
“But aren’t we supposed to report our whereabouts?”
Jiang Fuyue asked, “Did we leave the hotel?”
Huo Fanjin shook her head: “No.”
“Then what’s there to report?”
“… Makes sense.”
After showering, the two laid down in their respective rooms.
Jiang Fuyue pressed a button by her bed, and the regular ceiling retracted to reveal a glass roof.
Stars filled the sky, glittering brilliantly.
Watching the starry sky, Jiang Fuyue slowly drifted into sleep.
In the adjacent room, Huo Fanjin laid on her bed, hands behind her head: “So beautiful…”
Why hadn’t she noticed how beautiful the sky in D-country was before?
Before falling asleep, she felt like she had forgotten something.
Just before drifting off, she remembered it was the cost of the room.
This suite must cost at least five thousand or more per night. Since the captain’s family seemed not very well-off, she should probably cover the cost…
The fourth day passed peacefully.
On the fifth day, at seven in the morning, Jiang Fuyue woke Huo Fanjin.
They left the suite and returned to the 12th floor.
“Wait—”
As Huo Fanjin was about to enter, Jiang Fuyue called her back.
“What’s wrong?”
Jiang Fuyue squatted down and picked up a hair tie from the ground: “…Nothing.”
Although she said that, her eyes flashed with a cold light.
When they left yesterday, Jiang Fuyue had casually hung the hair tie on the inside door handle. Now it was on the floor.
The window wasn’t open, and the air conditioner wasn’t on, so it couldn’t have been blown off. That left only one possibility—
The door handle had been turned!
In other words, someone had entered their room after they left!
At seven-thirty, the five of them gathered in the dining hall.
At eight o’clock, the experimental exam officially began.
The experimental part consisted of two questions, each worth 10 points, with a total time of five hours.
The first question was an optics test.
The first page detailed the requirements and precautions, as well as the usage of various experimental instruments.
It wasn’t very difficult, but the steps were quite complex.
For instance, many couldn’t handle the installation of the diffraction grating.
This wasn’t a traditional diffraction grating but a modified version with additional components for specific functions. It had more parts, including a cylindrical holder and many small pieces to assemble.
As soon as Jiang Fuyue saw the requirements, she chose to assemble it first.
It quickly took shape.
Twenty minutes later, she completed the first experiment.
The second question involved the magnetic conductivity of water.
The information provided wasn’t as extensive as the first question, but it was more challenging as it required using calculus thinking without employing calculus methods.
Jiang Fuyue took twenty-five minutes, five minutes longer than the first question.
Then—
“Finished.”
The room fell silent.
At that moment, another male voice rang out: “I’m done too.”
