After helping Little Brother Jiang with his homework, Jiang Fuyue urged him to take a shower.
When he finished, he came down to the living room and noticed a cup of hot milk on the coffee table. He ran to the kitchen, calling out, “Sister! Sister! Is the milk for me?”
“Yes, it helps you grow taller.”
At the mention of “growing taller,” his whole face lit up. He ran back but turned back halfway, standing by the door frame, asking Jiang Fuyue, “Did you drink any, Sister?”
“Do you think I need to grow taller?”
“You don’t have to grow taller to drink it,” he whispered, “for calcium…”
He ran to get a clean cup, returned quickly, and poured half of his milk into it, offering it to her, “For you, Sister.”
Jiang Fuyue accepted it without hesitation, thanked him, and ruffled his hair.
The boy let her mess with his hair without moving, his face secretly reddening as he sat obediently.
Most adults wouldn’t compete with a child for milk, but Jiang Fuyue thought differently.
In her view, every act of kindness deserves respect, even from a child. Milk can be replaced, but the spirit of sharing is rare and should be encouraged and protected.
“Sister, let’s go to the living room.”
“Alright.”
When Jiang Da and Han Yunru returned home after closing the shop, they were greeted by the sight of their two children drinking milk together on the sofa.
The sister looked elegant and composed, while the little brother was well-behaved and thoughtful.
The soft light fell on them, creating a scene of warmth and comfort.
The couple instinctively held their breath, feeling a tender warmth deep within.
“Mom, Dad, you’re home!” Little Brother Jiang was the first to notice them. After finishing the last of his milk, he ran to the entrance and fetched their slippers.
Jiang Da and Han Yunru changed their shoes and moved to the living room.
Jiang Fuyue had already poured warm water and handed it to them.
“Yueyue, you don’t have to fuss over us.”
Seeing that they seemed to have something to say, she sat down on the sofa. Little Brother Jiang ran over and sat next to her, and the two siblings looked at their parents with the same almond-shaped eyes.
“Ahem…” Jiang Da rubbed his hands, unsure where to start.
Han Yunru gave him an encouraging look.
“Well, before you left for your training in the capital, Yueyue, you gave us ten thousand yuan to look for a location for a branch store…”
Jiang Fuyue straightened up slightly.
Jiang Da continued, “Your mother and I took it seriously, but we struggled to find a good spot. Either the location wasn’t ideal, or the rent was too high. But today, we found a good one at Tianxing Plaza. It’s in a high-traffic area, and the rent is reasonable, though it needs a bit of remodeling. The tables, chairs, and dishes are already there. What do you think?”
After everything, he was seeking her opinion.
Little Brother Jiang innocently asked, “Dad, why do you only ask Sister and not me?”
Jiang Da: “…” Son, you’re not quite at that level yet.
Jiang Fuyue thought it over. Tianxing Plaza was near the city center, close to Yutian Mansion and her school. The location seemed promising, but…
“I’d need to see it first to decide.”
The next day, Jiang Fuyue went straight to Tianxing Plaza after school.
Han Yunru was already there, speaking with the owner.
“Mom.”
“You’re here, Yueyue.” Han Yunru’s face lit up with a smile when she saw her.
Jiang Fuyue glanced at the chubby man before her, feeling he looked a bit familiar.
Jiang Guohui was also sizing her up. At first glance, he thought, wow, what a beautiful girl. On the second, he noticed her school uniform—it was the same as his daughter’s! By the third glance, he suddenly realized—
“Aren’t you Jiang Fuyue, the top scorer in two competitions?!”
Jiang Fuyue recognized him and asked tentatively, “…Uncle Jiang?”
“Wow! It really is you! No wonder you looked so familiar. My daughter has been glued to her tablet, playing… oh, what is it… Oh! She’s been watching videos of you, saying you’re amazing and her idol!”
Jiang Fuyue replied, “Jiang Han has mentioned you often.” Though it wasn’t usually anything good.
Jiang Guohui chuckled, looking like a cheerful Buddha.
Han Yunru looked confused.
Jiang Fuyue briefly introduced Jiang Guohui, “…our current rental property also belongs to Uncle Jiang.”
“No, no…” Jiang Guohui waved his hands, “It’s transferred to my daughter now; it’s hers.”
Han Yunru was astonished, “What a small world; how fortunate.”
“Isn’t it? My daughter even wanted to reduce your rent; I just hadn’t found the right moment. But here we are! If this spot doesn’t suit you, I’ve got about twenty other properties in the area. Choose whichever you like, and we can work out a good price!”
Han Yunru was amazed at his wealth and generosity.
Jiang Fuyue thought, like father, like daughter.
Twenty minutes later.
Jiang Fuyue said, “We don’t need to look any further; I think this place is perfect. Mom, what do you think?”
Han Yunru nodded, “I think it’s ideal too.”
The space was large, located at the intersection of two streets, offering better foot traffic. Plus, there were no similar pastry shops nearby, so they didn’t have to worry about competition. Jiang Guohui was a kind and reasonable landlord, making him ideal to work with.
The mother and daughter signed the lease right away.
That evening, they told Jiang Da about it—
“Already signed? So soon?”
Han Yunru replied, “It’s a great opportunity, so why wait?”
“Absolutely!” Jiang Da nodded immediately. “Good to settle it early; I trust your judgment completely.”
Jiang Fuyue quietly excused herself, feeling like she was witnessing a moment of mutual admiration.
With the branch sorted, Jiang Fuyue’s school days continued smoothly and busily.
Except for the occasional reporter who appeared at the school gate…
The local stations weren’t intrusive, but some freelance reporters tried to snap a few pictures of the “genius girl” to gain online attention.
Many were chased off by the school security.
Determined, a few waited for days but couldn’t even catch a glimpse of her back and eventually gave up.
Jiang Fuyue was careful to avoid them, staying back after school to help Jiang Han with her assignments or play basketball with Yi Ci and Zhong Ziang.
For that, she even kept a sports outfit in her bag.
Since the clash between Yi Ci and Zhong Ziang, they had somehow reached an odd truce, agreeing that—
As long as Jiang Fuyue was around, they wouldn’t fight, to avoid upsetting her.
They wouldn’t try to take advantage of her, either—no staring, no touching.
If they did want to fight, it would be out of her sight, and they wouldn’t go for the face.
Both boys took these agreements seriously, vigilantly watching each other.
In Jiang Fuyue’s eyes, it seemed like they’d become best buddies.
Yi Ci muttered, “As if.”
Zhong Ziang snorted, “Yeah, right.”
On the court, however, they cooperated seamlessly, especially with Jiang Fuyue around.
With a perfect three-pointer, she scored again.
Compared to the two sweaty boys, she only had a light sheen, her cheeks slightly flushed.
Her movements seemed effortless.
Yi Ci, who had never properly played against her, had initially planned on going easy. But from the start, he found he didn’t even get a chance…
She was fast, strong, albeit slender, but agile!
Her dribbling and dodging were unstoppable.
A genius at studying and basketball? Yi Ci felt a bit deflated.
Zhong Ziang, already accustomed to her skills, was prepared this time.
But someone tell him, why did she seem even stronger now?
She had bumped his shoulder earlier, leaving half his body numb for a while.
“What, have you been eating superfoods?” he asked.
Jiang Fuyue shrugged, “Maybe… just growing?”
Zhong Ziang was speechless.
Yi Ci quietly refrained from commenting.
The three of them walked to the stands to grab some water.
Just as Jiang Fuyue reached for her bag, a bottle of mineral water appeared in front of her—
“Here, for you.”
