Before the camera could zoom in, Jiang Fuyue had already read their lips—inside the warehouse, the five kidnappers suddenly began to withdraw.
Niu Rui: “What’s going on?”
Jiang Fuyue frowned. “Check on the old man!”
The screen switched to Warehouse No. 1 next door—two of the five men were supporting the old man, one on each side, escorting him out.
Their steps were hurried, their movements swift.
Niu Rui was dumbfounded. “Th-they’re… retreating?!”
Everything was fine just moments ago. Why would they suddenly decide to leave?
Could it be…
“They realized they were being monitored? But that doesn’t make sense…”
Not a single one of the kidnappers even glanced toward the camera. If they had noticed it, no matter how restrained they were, they would have at least looked in its direction.
Besides, if they were really going to evacuate, wouldn’t they destroy all the surveillance equipment to conceal their whereabouts?
But they did nothing of the sort. This likely meant they hadn’t realized the cameras were active.
If they hadn’t noticed, then what prompted such a hasty withdrawal?
It was as if… they had just received some urgent news.
Jiang Fuyue curved her lips into a smile. “Maybe someone tipped them off?”
“That definitely wasn’t me!” Niu Rui immediately swore loyalty.
Judging by her tone, someone was about to get burned, and he didn’t want to be anywhere near the fire.
“What now? They’re about to leave. Once they’re out of that abandoned factory, there won’t be any cameras left for surveillance.”
“Who says there won’t be?”
“Huh?” Niu Rui thought she was joking.
They were deep in the mountains, off-grid, with nothing but hills and forests around. Where would cameras even come from?
Jiang Fuyue: “No cameras? Then we install our own.”
“…Are you sleep-deprived?” Niu Rui squeezed that out after a long pause.
Install? How?
Send someone over?
By the time they got there, it’d be too late.
Just as Niu Rui began to suspect Jiang Fuyue was hallucinating from exhaustion, a live feed suddenly appeared on the shared screen—following the kidnappers as they moved, like a live broadcast!
“Holy—” Niu Rui couldn’t help blurting out. “What the h*ll is this?!”
Anyone who didn’t know better would think they were watching a high-budget drama shot from God’s perspective.
Jiang Fuyue: “Never heard of drones?”
“You—you’re using drones for surveillance?!”
“What? Got a problem with that?”
“N-no… but drones aren’t invisible. Judging from this angle and resolution, the drone’s practically in their faces. They didn’t notice?”
“Who says drones can’t be invisible?”
The KT Black-Gold Recon Series, newly developed by Jiang Ke, not only reduces operating noise but also includes a “camouflage” feature.
It automatically adjusts its exterior to match the surrounding environment—achieving stealth through mimicry.
Right now, three KT drones were disguised as hawks, circling boldly above the kidnappers’ heads.
They even let out the occasional hawk screech to deepen the illusion.
Niu Rui: “This is insane.”
He’d never known drones could be used like this…
Like mobile, invisible cameras!
But—
“There’s still one thing I don’t get.”
Jiang Fuyue: “Go on.”
“Since we already know where they’re hiding and have people in place, why not storm in and save the old man now? Why go through all this trouble?”
Even deploying drones?
“You were curious why they suddenly decided to evacuate, weren’t you? So was I.”
Niu Rui suddenly understood. “You’re casting a long line to catch a big fish—luring the snake out of its hole and catching it red-handed?”
She sighed lightly. “Finally, you’ve had a smart moment.”
Niu Rui: “…” D*mn it, she was complimenting him—so why did it feel like a slap in the face?
The drone followed the kidnappers to their new hideout, then transformed its disguise into rooftop tiles and remained motionless, continuing surveillance.
Jiang Fuyue notified Liu Jinzhong of the new ambush location. The team quietly split into smaller units and began moving into position, ready to act at any moment.
Only after everything was arranged did she shut off the computer and go to sleep.
She slept soundly, and her biological clock woke her up right on time the next morning.
When she came downstairs—wow—everyone was seated upright in the living room. As soon as they saw her, their eyes lit up.
Qin Lin rushed over first. “Yueyue, any updates?”
Madam Shi looked at her with a gaze that was both hopeful and wary.
Even Han Yunru and Jiang Da’s eyes were filled with anticipation.
As for Guan Yiling, her eyes practically glowed like twin spotlights.
“There’s only one day left before the ransom deadline. We haven’t figured out a rescue plan yet. Are we really going to wire $100 million into their account?”
Shi Qingzhi pressed her lips together. “If that money can guarantee Old Qin’s safety, I’d give it willingly. But what if they take the money and kill him anyway…”
Just the thought made her chest tighten painfully.
She didn’t dare think any further.
“Yueyue.” She grabbed Jiang Fuyue’s hand, gripping so tightly her knuckles turned white. “You will save Old Qin, right? You can do it, can’t you?!”
This time, Jiang Fuyue didn’t say “I’ll try my best.”
She looked Madam Shi straight in the eye and said with firm clarity—
“Yes. I will rescue Grandpa Qin. Everything is under control. Don’t worry. As for the kidnappers, there’s only one ending for them—facing justice. Everyone involved in this case will pay the price for their actions.”
Every word rang with power, loud and clear.
Finally, Madam Shi could breathe again.
Qin Lin also exhaled in relief.
He didn’t know why, but despite doubting Jiang Fuyue’s abilities just yesterday, hearing her now brought a strange sense of reassurance and calm.
It was as if every word she spoke was a promise—worthy of absolute trust.
“Yueyue, so you’ve got it all planned out?” Guan Yiling asked softly.
Jiang Fuyue nodded. “You could say that.”
The woman smiled gently. “That’s good… very good. Could you tell us what you’ve arranged? So we can be at ease too?”
Madam Shi and Qin Lin both looked at her with eager eyes.
Clearly, they wanted to know if her plan could really save Qin Yuancheng.
But Jiang Fuyue simply curled her lips and said mysteriously—
“Heaven’s secrets can’t be revealed. Just wait. By tomorrow at the latest, you’ll have your answer.”
Madam Shi and Qin Lin sensibly didn’t press further.
Guan Yiling hesitated. “It’s not that I don’t trust you. It’s just that this concerns Dad’s life. I want to be extra cautious. Could you at least tell us something? A few details would help us feel better.”
Jiang Fuyue raised an eyebrow. “Auntie seems very eager to know the specifics?”
Guan Yiling froze. “I’m just…”
“I know—it’s out of concern.”
The woman was speechless.
Jiang Fuyue chuckled. “A few details, right? Fine, I’ll give you two. First, Grandpa Qin is safe for now. Second, the kidnappers have moved to a new location. But it’s okay—it’s all within expectations. They can’t stir up much trouble.”
When Jiang Fuyue said the old man was still safe, Guan Yiling didn’t think much of it—everyone knew the kidnappers wouldn’t kill before getting the ransom.
But when she confidently said they’d already changed hideouts, Guan Yiling’s heart seized and her breath stopped.
Impossible!
How could she possibly know that? She’s still in the country!
If she’s telling the truth, doesn’t that mean she’s tracking the kidnappers’ every move?
Then she remembered Jiang Fuyue’s earlier promise—
Everyone involved will pay the price.
Cold sweat broke out across Guan Yiling’s back, and her hands and feet turned icy.
“…I’m heading upstairs,” Jiang Fuyue said as she picked up breakfast and walked away.
Qin Lin: “Yiling? What’s wrong? You look pale.”
“Ah Lin, I… I’m just so scared something will happen to Dad.”
“Take a deep breath, calm down. Don’t scare yourself.”
“I—I need the restroom…”
She hurried away.
Inside, she locked the door, just like last night.
She pulled out her phone and a different SIM card. But just as she was about to dial that familiar number—
She stopped.
Everything is under control. They can’t stir up any waves…
Jiang Fuyue’s last words echoed like a curse in her ears.
If it was true, then making that call now might get her caught red-handed!
She absolutely couldn’t call.
But if she didn’t, and the others got caught off guard, they’d give her up anyway!
Either way… it would all be over.
