Qin Lin: “The facts are right in front of us—how am I supposed to believe you?”
“I already said this is a setup! Why won’t you believe me?! You’d rather believe an outsider than believe me?! Figures! You never loved me to begin with. The one you’ve been thinking about all along was this woman—”
Guan Yiling suddenly turned and pointed at Han Yunru, shrieking like a madwoman: “You were already gone! Why did you have to come back? Why did you have to appear in front of him again?!”
The hatred in her eyes was deep and venomous; her words were full of resentment and jealousy.
Jiang Da instantly stepped in front of Han Yunru to shield her, body tense and muscles taut, eyes wary of Guan Yiling.
“You already have a husband who loves you so much—why are you still trying to take Qin Lin from me?!”
Han Yunru looked utterly confused. Her eyes met Guan Yiling’s over Jiang Da’s shoulder as she murmured, shaking her head: “I didn’t…”
“Ha! Still pretending!”
Qin Lin could no longer hold back. He gripped her shoulders tightly: “What nonsense are you spouting?! We’re talking about you right now—don’t drag other people into this!”
“If only you would trust me, your wife, then none of this would even be a problem. But do you?!”
Qin Lin: “The evidence is here. You’re asking me to believe you, but you haven’t given a single convincing rebuttal. How can I trust you?”
“I told you, the video is edited! As for the audio… these days, even people’s faces can be reconstructed through surgery. Is it really so hard to fake a voice recording?”
“So you’re saying you don’t admit to either the video or the audio?”
Guan Yiling: “That’s right. I don’t.”
Qin Lin turned to Jiang Fuyue, who smiled faintly: “Some people won’t cry until they see the coffin. You have to peel off their mask entirely before they’ll admit the truth. Fine. Let her see it with her own eyes. Chenxing—”
Little Brother Jiang: “I know what to do!”
He grabbed the mouse and clicked a few times. A new video popped up: a view of a primeval forest.
Shi Qingzhi leaned in: “Where is this?”
Jiang Fuyue: “Shapu District. The kidnappers’ new hideout.”
The old lady looked shocked.
Qin Lin was stunned too.
Guan Yiling’s eyes widened in disbelief.
“But… there’s nothing there… just trees…”
Just as she finished speaking, there was a sudden movement in the underbrush. A moment later, branches were pushed aside, revealing a cave entrance over two meters high.
A man emerged shirtless and disheveled—it was obvious he had just woken up. He walked a bit farther, turned around, and… started peeing?!
Old Lady: “Who is he?”
Jiang Fuyue: “One of the kidnappers.”
Even though they had been prepared, hearing it directly still made Shi Qingzhi freeze.
Qin Lin: “This footage…”
He swallowed hard before asking, “Is this live?”
Because the timestamp in the top-left corner was perfectly in sync with the present—down to the second!
Jiang Fuyue nodded.
Qin Lin: “How was this filmed?!”
“Drones.”
Qin Lin shook his head: “If it were a drone, it’d definitely be spotted at that distance!”
Jiang Fuyue lifted her eyes lazily to look at him: “That’s your idea of a drone—not the kind I’m using. Two different leagues.”
Qin Lin choked.
Han Yunru: “The second person’s coming out!”
On screen, the second kidnapper appeared.
Shi Qingzhi: “Is Old Qin inside too?”
Jiang Fuyue nodded to Jiang Chenxing, who clicked again and brought up a second video feed—this time, from inside the cave.
“This—how is this possible?!” Qin Lin couldn’t hide his shock.
What kind of drone could do this?!
The footage was close-up, in such a cramped space, nearly zoomed right into someone’s face.
The camera pushed deeper into the cave. In a dark corner, a figure lay on the ground.
“Old Qin! It’s Old Qin!” Shi Qingzhi instantly recognized him.
“Yueyue, save him quickly! His leg… it must be in agony!”
“Don’t worry,” Jiang Fuyue gently patted the old lady’s back. “I know what I’m doing.”
She then took out Guan Yiling’s phone.
“Yueyue?”
No one else knew what she intended to do, but Guan Yiling’s pupils shrank, and her face instantly turned pale.
“You wanted me to make the call, right? Now’s the perfect time.”
All five kidnappers were currently under surveillance. If any of them picked up the call, it would be solid proof that Guan Yiling had colluded with them.
No matter how slick her tongue, she wouldn’t be able to talk her way out of that.
Just as Jiang Fuyue was about to hit the dial button, Guan Yiling suddenly lunged at her like a madwoman: “No—give me back my phone—!”
Jiang Fuyue had been ready. She sidestepped and counter-kicked, sending Guan Yiling sprawling to the floor.
“Dad—!” she called out.
Jiang Da immediately stepped forward.
“Tie her up and gag her!”
He didn’t hesitate. The moment his daughter gave the order, his hands moved faster than his brain.
By the time Qin Lin and the old lady realized what was happening, Guan Yiling was already restrained and unable to make a sound.
Han Yunru tugged at her husband’s sleeve and whispered, “Isn’t… isn’t this a bit much? Brother Lin is still watching… she is his wife, after all…”
Jiang Da scratched his head: “Yueyue told me to do it.”
And just like that, he shoved all the blame off without skipping a beat.
