Chapter 81

The terrain in the rainforest was varied. When Rong Qiu drove the mecha to pursue, he deliberately activated the anti-tracking mode. This mode was not very useful against large and tightly controlled tracking machines, but for individual mechas, the anti-tracking mode was indeed a good concealment mode.
Even so, Rong Qiu was extremely cautious.
This matter was significant. If they could really find the pirates’ headquarters by following this pirate’s mecha, they wouldn’t have to exert much effort.
But the pirate’s mecha was getting faster and faster. In the dense jungle, it moved like the most agile black snake. If it weren’t for Rong Qiu’s skill and the modifications made to his mecha for speed, he would have been left far behind in the first half of the distance. Perhaps sensing the silent pressure, the pirate’s mecha hesitated for a moment, then suddenly veered off in another direction at lightning speed, almost causing the entire mecha to flip over.
Rong Qiu immediately followed.
The path cleared by the pirate was getting narrower, and the sound of gunfire echoed in the wind.
Rong Qiu’s eyes narrowed, his thin lips pressed tightly together. He quickly manipulated the controls on the console. The black mecha, like a released arrow, just before the gunfire, flipped aside while avoiding a giant tree in front.
Since they had resorted to gunfire, Rong Qiu wouldn’t hold back.
None of the mecha operators who grew up in the Thirteenth Military District were cowards. Rong Qiu, when operating the mecha, was like entering a realm of gods, combining power and beauty to the fullest. Besides being proficient in operating mechas, he was also the medic for this military mecha. While closely pursuing the mecha in front, Rong Qiu even aimed his wooden bullet gun at the most critical parts of the enemy mecha.
With just three shots, the rhythm of the pirate mecha was suddenly disrupted.
The distance between the two mechas kept closing.
When the distance was closest to fifty meters, Rong Qiu suddenly turned towards the side of the jungle, making a sharp turn. In just three seconds, Rong Qiu’s mecha opened the front protective device and fiercely collided with the pirate mecha that was also turning.
The collision of black against black set off a thunderous roar in the rainforest.
The pirate’s mecha slammed violently into a thick tree behind it, causing the stout trunk, which ten people could barely embrace, to tremble slightly. Countless leaves and fruits fell abruptly, and the ripe red fruits burst into bright red juice on the black mecha.
Since Rong Qiu had opened the protective device in advance, the force of the collision was greatly reduced, and his mecha also collided with another tree.
But there was no harm done.
Rong Qiu stared fixedly at the black mecha in front of him. Even though he was inside his mecha’s cockpit, he could still hear the metallic snapping sound from the other mecha.
Based on Rong Qiu’s rough estimate, the other mecha was likely to be in ruins. Rong Qiu sighed silently. If he had been a little more careful while driving the mecha just now, who knew that the operator of this mecha was so skillful that he could locate Rong Qiu’s position halfway and even fire gunpowder at him.
But now it was useless to say all that. He could only drag this pirate out.
If he couldn’t make a judgment, he would hand it over to the professionals of the formal army for interrogation.
The black mecha of the pirate was already splashed with sour and red juice. If you pinched your nose and ignored it, it looked like it had been drenched in a basin of dog blood.
Rong Qiu firmly grasped the control stick of the mecha.
The black mecha in front didn’t eject the protective airbag, so the person inside was not in danger. All he needed to do was wait for the person inside to climb out; during the waiting time, Rong Qiu took the opportunity to send a message to Zhao Nanchen.
【Rong Qiu: I’ve already caught that pirate. Bring people over according to my location.】
【Zhao Nanchen: Okay!】
【Zhao Nanchen: According to Little Brother Qu’s location, we’ll be there in twenty minutes!】
【Rong Qiu: Please hurry.】
Putting away his phone, Rong Qiu noticed that the black mecha in front of him finally showed some other movement.
Smoke emerged from the mecha’s cockpit, and a foot clad in black boots stepped out, followed by black pants reaching up to the man’s calves, covered by the boots. Rong Qiu’s gaze moved upward, finally seeing the man’s entire face.
Under the warm afternoon sun filtering through layers of leaves, casting speckled spots of light in the mecha, Rong Qiu recognized the familiar face, somewhat similar to Qin Muye’s.
Rong Qiu’s pupils suddenly contracted, his entire being enveloped in extreme astonishment.
How could it be him!?
The man who stepped out of the mecha was none other than Qin Zexi, wearing a black pheromone isolation ring around his neck. Qin Zexi in front of Rong Qiu appeared even thinner than before, with the disappearance of flesh from his cheeks making his facial bones more prominent. The shadows in his eyes were particularly pronounced, turning the once towering military officer into someone resembling a long-standing venomous creature lurking in the shadows.
Although Rong Qiu knew Qin Zexi was connected to the unrest on this affiliated planet, he never expected to see him here at the pirate camp.
The mecha driven by Qin Zexi had been modified by the pirates.
Increased speed, decreased firepower.
Rong Qiu had experienced all of this firsthand.
So Qin Zexi’s appearance here was not unexpected.
Rong Qiu immediately wanted to inform Qin Muye, but before he could do so, the man who had stepped out of the mecha interrupted him. With long lashes lowered, the Alpha couldn’t hide the dark glint in his black eyes: “Ah Qin, is it you?”
Rong Qiu looked at the Alpha outside the mecha with some nervousness.
Qin Zexi continued to approach: “It’s Ah Qin, right? Only you could recognize me from the way I pilot the mecha. If it weren’t for you, no one would have pursued me for so long and dared to come here alone. No wonder my people couldn’t find any information about you. It turns out you’ve already left the hospital and arrived here early.”
Qin Zexi always had an unusual level of confidence in one aspect or another.
Rong Qiu confirmed his confidence.
Since Qin Zexi mistook him for Ah Qin…
Rong Qiu stopped dialing the phone. His mind was agile, and he activated the mecha’s recording function without making a sound, while not engaging with Qin Zexi.
Qin Zexi, thinking it was real, became even more convinced that the person inside the mecha was Ah Qin: “I came out of the base this time to find you, Ah Qin. Is your body okay? You’re able to pilot the mecha so soon? I should have been with you in the hospital, but things here are too busy. I only have time now.”
The alpha rambled on and on, and Rong Qiu’s mech recorded Qin Zexi’s peculiar behavior one by one.
Rong Qiu wanted to ask more questions, such as the relationship between Qin Zexi and the sea bandits, but he couldn’t reveal who he was for now. He could only wait for the alpha to confess on his own. “Ah Qin, don’t blame me. I’ve always been stopping you for a reason. I don’t want you to argue with the sea pirates, I just don’t want a day to come when we have to fight each other. Following the Federation, but being repeatedly suppressed by the Federation, I’m an S-rank alpha, clearly capable of reaching the highest position, so why should I be oppressed and managed by a group of alphas and betas who are inferior to me? Ah Qin, you’re just a beta, what kind of bright future do you have?”
Qin Zexi was so agitated that the veins on his hand were bulging, and he seemed to have fallen into madness.
He had harbored resentment since the first time he was forced by the Federation to undergo pheromone matching with an S-rank omega.
“The people of the Federation are heartless and unscrupulous, they only see me as a tool to enhance the reputation of the Federation, giving me the prestige of an S-rank alpha, but not allowing me to do what I want; later they even kicked me out of the military district with a tough attitude, otherwise would I have taken over the Qin family’s company? Ah Qin, you know, I haven’t been happy taking over the company all these years.”
Rong Qiu didn’t quite understand the latter part of what Qin Zexi said.
But he roughly understood that Qin Zexi, as an S-rank alpha, went back to take over the Qin family’s conglomerate, and it turned out to be the hand of the Federation behind it.
Then why was the Federation treating Qin Muye so favorably?
Qin Muye had been in the First Military District for several years, and now he had risen to become one of the four commanders of the Alliance. Everyone with discerning eyes knew that Qin Muye’s position was much higher than Qin Zexi’s. If the Federation simply wanted an S-rank alpha as a facade, they could continue to use Rong Qin. Why bother to cultivate Qin Muye…
Rong Qiu didn’t understand.
Rong Qiu just earnestly recorded the audio and video, and at the same time, his phone had already dialed Qin Muye’s number, so Qin Muye could hear Qin Zexi’s response through the phone.
Qin Zexi talked for a full ten minutes.
In this short ten minutes, the amount of information conveyed was extraordinary.
Towards the end, Qin Zexi seemed to sense something amiss.
“Ah Qin, why aren’t you saying anything?”
“Do you still not want to forgive me, Ah Qin? You know, I’m a madman, I don’t even know what I’m capable of.”
Qin Zexi’s laughter carried a hoarse tone, and at the thought of success, knowing Ah Qin would be forever bound by him, his sadistic tendencies were fully aroused. Like a demon guarding a treasure, he continued to approach the black mecha in front of him, “So, Ah Qin, you’d better come out voluntarily.”
