Chu Xie pulled the bedding over himself, covering his whole body. His nose was a bit red, and he glanced over Jiang Yanchi’s face. Quickly, he looked down again.
Seemingly, he had not anticipated the current situation at all, feeling at a loss for a moment. He awkwardly called out again, “Ah Xie…” with a hint of coquetry, moving towards him, “You…”
“Wait.” Chu Xie immediately stopped him.
Maintaining some distance, Jiang Yanchi saw that Chu Xie was huddled against the wall, quickly covering himself completely with the blanket. He didn’t move forward.
The smile at the corner of his mouth became somewhat forced. “Ah Xie, listen to me…”
Chu Xie furrowed his brows slightly, then looked up and down at Jiang Yanchi. His head was a bit confused as he shook it vigorously and tapped his forehead a couple of times.
“Today is our wedding day, and we…” Jiang Yanchi said with a hint of grievance.
“No, no.” After being tossed like this, Chu Xie’s eyes seemed clearer, and his lips even turned a bit pale. “I won’t do this.”
The young emperor’s eyes instantly dimmed, becoming even more aggrieved. “But…”
“There’s no but.” Chu Xie pressed his temples, pulled over his clothes, and tied the belt into a tight knot. “You’re tired today, go to sleep early.”
“Then where should I sleep?”
Chu Xie glanced at him horizontally, coldly saying, “How about, you can sleep outside.”
Jiang Yanchi’s mouth flattened, and his eyes instantly turned red.
Frowning slightly, he timidly stretched out one hand to tug at a corner of the bedding. Seeing Chu Xie remained silent, he carefully lifted it a bit and crawled in first.
After lying for a while, feeling the even breathing on the other side, he moved a bit closer, then a bit closer.
Reaching out, he circled Chu Xie’s waist, about to hug him, and then heard, “Are you going to sleep or not?”
“But, today is our bridal night…”
Jiang Yanchi had just finished speaking when the red candle happened to burn out, leaving the room pitch dark.
“The candle is gone, so let’s forget about the bridal night.”
“I’ll light it again!” Jiang Yanchi immediately tried to get up, but Chu Xie flipped over and grabbed his hand.
“Don’t make trouble, it’s past midnight.”
Jiang Yanchi completely wilted. He had imagined a thousand different scenarios in his mind, but never thought that this night would end up like this.
He rubbed against Chu Xie’s back and sensed that the other’s back immediately stiffened. His nose felt sour. “I’m sorry.”
“Ah Xie, do you… do you dislike me now?”
Chu Xie pretended to be asleep, unwilling to answer such an inexplicable question. Every time this person fell in love, his imagination was simply too wild. His divergent thinking was something he couldn’t keep up with.
Only silence.
But the voice behind him became somewhat choked, like a little dog left outside in the rain, abandoned.
“Do you actually not want to marry me? You feel uncomfortable even if I touch you a little. But we…”
Chu Xie’s head ached. “But we are husband and wife.”
“Let’s try again, just a little try, okay?”
Chu Xie finally couldn’t bear it, no longer remaining silent. He turned around abruptly and sternly said, “Jiang Yanchi, have you had enough!”
Finally seeing his full face, Jiang Yanchi immediately met him with a tender kiss, forehead against his, changing the topic midway to catch a breath, “Let’s try again, just a little try, okay?”
“No.” Chu Xie refused.
He immediately turned red, lowering his head in a pitiful manner.
“But today, we…”
“Got married, I know. We are husband and wife, I know. Don’t keep saying these things in my ear, disturbing my sleep.”
His eyes turned even redder, filled with watery tears. With a slight blink, a teardrop fell.
Chu Xie looked at his pitiful appearance, suppressing his anger and refraining from further outbursts.
“Why?”
“I don’t like it.”
Jiang Yanchi held his hand, suddenly choked up, his voice carrying a hint of sadness. “Don’t you like me?”
“I don’t like doing this kind of thing. I don’t like it with anyone, not just you.”
Chu Xie knew that his words would lead to misunderstandings, and as expected, when he turned his head, Jiang Yanchi immediately reacted, grabbing his hand and asking, “Who else do you want to do it with?”
Finished.
This magical interpretative ability is impressive.
Tonight seems to be never-ending.
To ensure a peaceful sleep tonight, Chu Xie had to get up first and do some ideological work for Jiang Yanchi. He needed to interrupt his unbridled and divergent thinking and soothe his fragile and childlike mind.
“Listen carefully. I simply don’t like this, it has nothing to do with you. Did you agree to marry me just because of my body?”
“No…”
“Since it’s not, then we won’t do it.” Chu Xie’s rhetoric was powerful, leaving him stunned on the spot.
“Well, yes. I just like your body.” Jiang Yanchi quickly changed his tune.
Chu Xie remained composed. “Then let’s get a divorce.”
He frowned as if he was about to burst into tears the next second.
“I won’t marry someone who only values my appearance.” Chu Xie raised an eyebrow. “I married you to grow old together, not for such things.”
“This doesn’t conflict…”
“If you have such needs, go find a few others…” Chu Xie impatiently suggested, but halfway through the sentence, he choked up.
Should he go and accept a few other concubines?
Chu Xie vaguely didn’t want to say this aloud.
Jiang Yanchi hadn’t figured out the meaning yet and just rushed into his arms. “No, I’ll only marry you in my whole life.” He coquettishly pleaded, “If you don’t want to, I’ll go to Lingyu Temple to become a monk tomorrow.”
Still speaking in such a childish manner.
Seeing him silent, Jiang Yanchi knew he was softening a bit. He immediately seized the opportunity to say sweet words. “Ah Xie, you have a good temperament, a good appearance. I like you and want to grow old with you. But I also want to do these things with you…”
“Moreover, this kind of thing…”
Chu Xie widened his eyes, about to say something, but was kissed gently, sealing all his words in his throat.
D*mn it, he shouldn’t have hesitated at all.
This presumptuous brat.
After several rounds of entanglement, he gradually felt a bit breathless, as if the drunkenness he had just dispelled was returning, making his mind fuzzy.
“Why are you unwilling, Ah Xie, look at yourself.” At this moment, Jiang Yanchi said these words, Jiang Yanchi patiently untied the knots on his clothes. During this pause, Chu Xie attempted to push him away, but he was prepared and caught his hand, approaching him as he struggled, softly questioning, “Why are you unwilling.”
His hand once again reached behind him.
“Do you like me?”
Chu Xie answered, circling back to the previous question, his nose turning red, a thin layer of sweat appearing. “Because, because it hurts too much. No one would like to do such a thing.”
Although he had some sensations, going further would cause him to tremble violently.
Jiang Yanchi was stunned.
Thinking about it now, indeed, their two encounters from the previous life were unpleasant memories.
Although it was distant for him, it had only been a few years for Chu Xie. Those memories were still vivid for him—pain, hurt, and the despair of being forced. He remembered them all too well.
So he was afraid, so he was repulsed.
Seeing Chu Xie becoming increasingly uneasy, his body trembling slightly.
Jiang Yanchi stopped.
He fell into contemplation.
He really couldn’t force it.
Frowning tightly, he felt somewhat lost. What should he do?
Enduring the fervent blood coursing through his veins, his voice became somewhat hoarse. “Let’s try a different way, okay?”
Chu Xie’s face turned even redder, realizing what he wanted to do, the blush spreading from behind his ears to his neck.
But tonight was their wedding night after all. If he didn’t let him do anything, it didn’t seem right.
Jiang Yanchi narrowed his eyes slightly.
He really was too soft-hearted.
He stopped and kissed Chu Xie’s forehead. “Don’t worry, I won’t hurt you again.”
“Not even a little bit.”
As if handling fragile glass, his movements were initially gentle and slow. After reaching a certain point, impatience set in. Chu Xie’s breath was shattered, and his fingers tightly clutched the red quilt without letting go…
When dawn approached, Jiang Yanchi bathed while holding him, avoiding people outside. The warm pool water made him drowsy, and he fell asleep directly in the bathtub after a moment.
When he woke up the next day, the sun was already high.
It seemed like he had a long dream. In the dream, Jiang Yanchi was sometimes unusually cruel, and sometimes exceptionally gentle. His emotions fluctuated between fear and dependence until the dream ended completely.
Feeling exceptionally refreshed, as if everything from last night was just a dream.
But with a slight movement, he felt something unusual.
Not a dream.
Although he promised not to go all the way, he still went through a lot, and his body felt sore as if it had fallen apart.
Jiang Yanchi didn’t allow anyone to disturb his sleep, so the room was empty at the moment. Chu Xie enjoyed a rare moment of tranquility, leaning on the bed and looking out at the silver-covered world.
It turned out there was a deep autumn snowfall last night.
The pure white seemed to cover all the pain and darkness in the world. When the spring wind melted it away next year, new greenery would emerge, creating an entirely new spring scene.
He got married, he had a little home in this world. It wasn’t a natural bond brought by blood, but—
He met someone he liked.
Sitting quietly for a long time, Jiang Yanchi happened to be outside hanging new little characters and colorful lights. Afraid of disturbing Chu Xie, he walked extra lightly, carefully hanging the paper-folded lanterns on the snow-covered branches. A small piece of snow fell on his neck.
Chu Xie couldn’t help but laugh.
Jiang Yanchi turned his head in surprise and asked, “Are you awake?”
Chu Xie walked to the window, wearing his outer robe, and reached out to brush away the snow on Jiang Yanchi’s collar. “Why didn’t you ask someone else to hang these?”
Jiang Yanchi carefully unfolded a pair of small characters from his arms, afraid of getting them wet with the small snowflakes. “I wrote them myself, so naturally, I should hang them myself. Take a look.”
“I’ll hang them with you.” Chu Xie glanced at them, trying to climb directly through the window, but when he lifted his foot, he got entangled. He frowned and endured it.
Jiang Yanchi seemed to understand, handing the small characters to him. “Hold on.” Then he reached out and caught his waist, exerted force to stabilize him, and lifted him directly from the window. The other hand supported his legs, like holding a child.
Chu Xie, with his long arms and legs, couldn’t stand steadily. He reached out to hug Jiang Yanchi’s neck, and the small characters pressed directly against his face.
Almost scratched his face.
Jiang Yanchi’s hand supporting his waist timely pressed against his back, and with the thick palm exerting force, Chu Xie quickly stabilized, raising his hand to reach the high branch.
Chu Xie hung the small characters on the branch, and Jiang Yanchi put him down. The two looked up at the branches covered with frost and snow, adorned with colorful lanterns. Under the light, red silk floated.
Above it was written, “Holding hands with you, growing old together.”
