Awkward Chapter 66

Shoutout to nyanmaru for the commission!

“Room check, could you please open the door?”

Outside, a young woman’s voice spoke, her tone timid and lowering after noticing the displeasure in the patient’s family member’s voice.

Chen Mo heard her and frowned deeply. Although he managed to suppress his temper, his face remained cold as ice, radiating irritation.

Footsteps approached, and two young nurses entered the room, followed by a tall, slender male doctor.

Ye Mu lifted his eyelids slightly. Though they had only met twice before, he recognized Song Youyu immediately.

It wasn’t because he had a good memory but because Song Youyu had an indescribable aura and magnetism that made him impossible to ignore or forget.

“Mr. Ye, I’m glad to see you’ve regained consciousness so quickly. We initially estimated that the concussion might have caused a more prolonged coma. It seems I was overly cautious.”

Song Youyu was on night duty, dressed in a white doctor’s coat with gold-rimmed glasses perched on his high-bridged nose, giving him an air of gentle harmlessness, brimming with scholarly charm.

Ye Mu didn’t have the same reservations as Chen Mo. Seeing the doctor being so polite, he responded with a light, “Thank you, Dr. Song.”

Song Youyu smiled gracefully, adjusting his glasses as he slowly approached the bedside. “Your condition requires further observation in the hospital. Let me perform some routine checks.”

Ye Mu’s expression remained neutral as he silently nodded.

Seeing his agreement, Song Youyu pulled out a small medical flashlight from his coat, leaning closer as his long, slender fingers gently pressed around Ye Mu’s eyes, carefully examining him.

The cool touch of his fingers was quite comfortable. Ye Mu remained calm and unresisting, allowing the examination.

Chen Mo sat beside them, watching. For some reason, those hands felt irritatingly obtrusive, making him grind his teeth in frustration, his young, handsome face darkening as a shadow seemed to hang over him, emitting a black aura.

Song Youyu pretended not to notice, his lips curling slightly as his fingers moved gently to Ye Mu’s neck, appearing to inspect the wound but subtly caressing the skin.

This man’s skin was so delicate, almost translucent under the light. Despite the bruises from the beating, the marks only added to a sense of fragility, evoking a desire to protect. He couldn’t help but imagine peeling off the clothes and ravishing him; surely, the moans, both pained and sweet, would be exquisite.

Chen Mo, being a man himself, could tell from subtle expressions what the other person was thinking. He shot a cold and harsh glare at him, his words chilling to the bone, “Hey, have you touched enough yet?”

Song Youyu ignored him, continuing to slowly caress, a refined smile in his eyes. “President Chen, even though routine checks are simple, they sometimes require careful attention. Please be patient.”

Chen Mo sneered, his expression sharp and unruly, with the bloodstains on his face making him look fierce and menacing. “I heard Dr. Song recently recognized a ‘cousin.’ I have a buddy who’s quite interested, maybe you could introduce them?”

At first glance, this sounded like a harmless request for an introduction, but clever people often speak with a hidden meaning.

Heroin has many code names in the underground world—like “little cabbage,” “Miss White,” “Mr. Hai,” and another less common one, “cousin.” Song Youyu had recently brought in a new shipment of drugs and was planning to sell it. Chen Mo’s words were a veiled warning not to push his luck, as continuing to act recklessly could result in more than just a loss of profit; he might even get the cops involved and have his entire operation shut down.

This remark was clearly more intimidating than Gu Huai’s previous careless threats. Drug dealing is always under intense scrutiny by the police, and even if you have connections, getting caught could be catastrophic. People in this line of work are well aware of the risks. Not knowing Chen Mo’s full capabilities, Song Youyu had no choice but to follow his lead.

Song Youyu lowered his head, a dark and cunning glint passing through his eyes, as he slightly restrained his hand movements.

Chen Mo shot him a sharp glance, his stubble-covered chin and the bloodstains on his face adding to his overbearing arrogance. He gave a look that said, “At least you know your place.”

Song Youyu narrowed his eyes slightly. “Mr. Ye seems to be in good shape; today’s examination will end here.”

His voice remained polite as usual, but his face had darkened a bit. He irritably unbuttoned his shirt, got up, and walked over to the bedside to pick up the medical record.

A nurse standing nearby considerately handed him a pen. “Dr. Song, here you go.”

“Thank you,” Song Youyu replied, his tone indifferent, as he took the pen and began scribbling down notes.

Because of the unbuttoned shirt, his chest muscles were more exposed than usual, exuding a strong sense of masculinity and elegance that was hard to resist under the lights.

The two young nurses, already interested in him, couldn’t help but sneak glances, their faces flushing red.

Chen Mo noticed this and couldn’t help but let out a cold, disdainful laugh, his eyes filled with contempt.

Girls this age are so shallow, only caring about appearances, swooning over a few muscles.

He turned his head, wanting to casually joke with the man beside him, but the smile froze on his lips when he saw the scene before him.

On the hospital bed, Ye Mu’s gaze was no different from those young nurses, his glassy eyes fixated on the male doctor, as if mesmerized.

Song Youyu noticed and glanced at him, a seductive smile playing on his thin lips. If not for the presence of others, he might have directly asked if he was interested in meeting up.

Ye Mu didn’t have any ulterior motives; he was just subconsciously staring in his direction. When the other party smiled politely at him, he returned a slight smile out of courtesy.

Seeing the two exchange such a look, Chen Mo’s face darkened with anger, grinding his teeth in frustration.

Song Youyu glanced at him, adjusted his glasses, and with a smirk, said, “Mr. Ye, I’ve made a note of your condition. I’ll be back tomorrow for another check-up. For tonight, please bear with it a little longer.”

He deliberately emphasized the words “bear with it,” turning them into a subtle flirtation.

Ye Mu didn’t notice and simply nodded, thanking him softly.

A sly gleam flickered in Song Youyu’s eyes as he slightly raised an eyebrow. He said nothing more, giving Chen Mo a provocative look before turning and leaving with the two nurses.

As the door slowly closed, the room fell silent once again, leaving only the two of them.

Ye Mu, recalling his first encounter with Song Youyu at the bar, had a sudden thought and couldn’t help but lower his head, momentarily lost in thought.

After a few minutes, he looked at the person beside him, his expression suddenly heavy, and finally managed to say, “Why are you acting crazy in the middle of the night?”

Chen Mo’s lips were tightly pressed together, his handsome face stiff with suppressed anger. He was furiously throwing his clothes and pants aside, grinding out the words from between his teeth, “Weren’t you just ogling that Song guy? Well, I’m stripping down completely so you can take a good look!”

Ye Mu was silent for a while. Realizing that Chen Mo was jealous, he couldn’t help but twitch his lips slightly. “It’s the middle of winter. Aren’t you cold?”

“No.” Chen Mo replied coldly. After stripping off his last piece of clothing, he stood there straight, his eyes filled with a sour possessiveness.

He had a tall, broad frame, with eight well-defined muscles evenly distributed around his abdomen, combined with a narrow waist and a prominent lower half that exuded pure masculinity.

Ye Mu’s gaze traveled from his neck down to his legs, and he calmly said, “Alright, I’ve seen enough. You can get dressed now.”

Chen Mo, irritated by Ye Mu’s indifferent attitude, lifted the bed covers and crawled into bed. He avoided getting too close, fearing he’d hurt Ye Mu’s injuries, but he stubbornly wrapped his arms around Ye Mu’s waist, saying with a hint of frustration, “So, did you enjoy the view?”

Ye Mu looked at him with a blank expression, his tone flat. “Yes, I did.”

Chen Mo lowered his eyes, his side profile sharp with possessiveness, and said, “Good, then promise me you won’t stare at that Song guy anymore.”

Ye Mu pursed his lips, a hint of exasperation in his eyes. “You’re making a fuss over nothing.”

Chen Mo ignored him, leaning in to give him a possessive kiss, making up for the one they hadn’t finished earlier. “You don’t get it. This is called being prepared. That guy is a predator, devouring everything in sight and leaving nothing behind. I’m just looking out for you.”

Ye Mu’s pale face remained stoic. “Alright, now you can get out. I’m tired and want to sleep.”

But Chen Mo wasn’t having it. He stubbornly moved closer, his hands restlessly roaming across Ye Mu’s body, stoking the fire.

Ye Mu gave him a resigned look and humored him with a few lazy kisses. “Stop it. I’m tired.”

Chen Mo closed his eyes, gently brushing Ye Mu’s lips with his, his pale, slender fingers teasing certain areas with a clear intention. His voice was deep and magnetic, “So, how does that feel?”

Ye Mu half-closed his eyes, his pale face soon tinged with a blush, but his gaze remained cool and indifferent as he murmured, “Yeah… feels like something.”

Chen Mo pressed his lips together, blowing hot air against Ye Mu’s ear, his handsome features softening into a sensual expression. “Do you want it?”

Ye Mu, with his eyes half-closed, his delicate face still expressionless, thought for a moment before saying, “I do.”

Chen Mo’s tight lips curved with a sharp, knowing smile, and he couldn’t resist leaning in to lick Ye Mu’s lips, his eyes filled with desire and satisfaction.

Ye Mu gave him a cold look and added, “My left foot is in a cast, I have multiple fractures and bruises, and I’m suffering from a severe concussion. Do what you want.”
