Shoutout to nyanmaru for the commission!
Chen Mo was dumbfounded, standing there for a long time before asking, “What’s wrong with fake flowers?”
Ye Mu suppressed his disdain and couldn’t help but complain, “They lack romance.”
Chen Mo snickered, “Tsk, you’re not a woman. Why so fussy?”
Ye Mu casually tossed the fake flowers to the side, his voice colder than ice, “Think what you want. Just leave now.”
Chen Mo was furious, barely holding back his anger. With a stiff expression, he finally managed to say, “Isn’t Valentine’s Day supposed to be about giving and receiving? Why don’t you give me something too?”
Ye Mu glanced at him without emotion and fell silent.
For some reason, when Chen Mo said that, Ye Mu suddenly felt a tightness in his lower back.
If the real meaning of exchanging flowers was what he feared, then this was a very deep game.
Chen Mo, unaware of Ye Mu’s impure thoughts, simply leaned in closer, his handsome, fair face moving nearer as he spoke in a magnetic voice, “Come on, give me a kiss.”
Feeling embarrassed for having misunderstood, Ye Mu became flustered. He thought, “You give me fake flowers and expect me to kiss you?” He snapped, “Shameless!”
Chen Mo raised an eyebrow, leaned closer, and said casually, “Then just a peck.”
Ye Mu cursed inwardly, quickly retorting, “Get lost!”
Chen Mo frowned, half-closing his eyes as he smirked at Ye Mu’s high and mighty demeanor. He let out a cold chuckle, then kissed the back of his own hand, leaving a soft, lingering kiss as he looked at Ye Mu with satisfaction.
Ye Mu was stunned, thinking, “If there’s anyone I respect, it’s you.”
Chen Mo, satisfied with his little act of revenge, turned around and, without warning, locked the door, turning off the lights as he flashed a sharp smile.
Ye Mu watched him warily, pulling the thin blanket closer. “Why did you turn off the lights?”
Chen Mo’s handsome face was adorned with a cold smile as he licked his lips, “It’s the middle of the night. What do you think I turned off the lights for?”
Ye Mu swallowed, his Adam’s apple bobbing as he said, “Don’t do anything stupid.”
Chen Mo climbed into the bed, using the moonlight to get close to Ye Mu’s ear, his breath hot, “We’ve done everything already, what are you shy about?”
Ye Mu’s pale face slowly turned red, but his tone remained harsh, “Enough. If you want to sleep, go home. Don’t squeeze in with a patient…”
“Mm!”
“Serves you right for being so proper and not letting me kiss you.”
“Mm… mm… mm!”
“What are you saying? I can’t understand you.”
“Mm… mm… mm!”

Since that phone call, Yan Chen had not returned to the villa they had once shared.
Gu Huai was anxious and worried. He searched for Yan Chen everywhere, at his office and home, but could not find him.
As the deadline for the payment they had agreed upon drew closer, he became more and more agitated.
After sending hundreds of texts and making countless phone calls without getting a response, he ended up sitting on the sofa in the living room every night, waiting for Yan Chen to come home.
His eyes were so tired they had become dry and swollen, and even blinking caused him pain, but he stubbornly waited.
The night was deep, and the clock pointed to 3 AM.
It seemed that tonight, Yan Chen had no intention of coming home either.
Gu Huai rubbed his face wearily, his whole body radiating exhaustion and defeat.
He pulled out his phone and dialed Yan Chen’s number, pressing the call button.
“We’re sorry, the number you have dialed is currently on another call. Please try again later.”
“We’re sorry, the number you have dialed is currently switched off. Please try again later.”
The mechanical voice rang out, harsh and jarring in the quiet air.
He lowered his eyelids, his gaze growing colder as frustration seeped in.
Where had Yan Chen been these past few days? Whose place was he staying at? Why was his phone turned off?
Gu Huai frowned deeply, a heavy sense of agitation crossing his mind.
Thinking back, nothing good had ever come from getting involved with that b*stard. Even after hiring three thugs at double the commission to get rid of him that day, they still hadn’t succeeded.
He shouldn’t have been so discreet, pretending it was all about demolition and resorting to fists. He should have just used a knife to hack him to pieces, leaving him to bleed out and die on the spot!
D*mn Ye Mu, d*mn him!
Gu Huai, full of rage, scratched his head in frustration and stomped around, muttering curses under his breath.
“Click.”
A loud unlocking sound suddenly rang out as the door opened.
Gu Huai froze for a moment. Realizing who it was, he quickly composed himself and put on a weary, innocent face, “Yan Chen? You’re back?”
He walked over as he spoke, his slender frame draped in a thin sweater, his dry, pale lips contrasting with the dark circles under his eyes. There was an air of elegance mixed with a hint of pitiful vulnerability.
Yan Chen didn’t look at him, his head lowered as he walked in, his long, dark lashes casting shadows, giving him a menacing aura.
“What’s wrong?” Gu Huai stood there, uncertain, and asked timidly.
Yan Chen stood still, his long, narrow eyes half-closed as he spoke in a low voice, “You’ve been calling me just to ask for money, haven’t you?”
When Gu Huai heard this, his eyes reddened slightly, “Yan Chen, I’m begging you, please help me this one time.”
Yan Chen’s expression was cold and ruthless as he replied, “No need. I’ve already bought those documents.”
Gu Huai’s eyes lit up with joy, but he restrained himself from showing it too much, pretending to be remorseful and pained, “I’m sorry. I’ll pay you back for the money.”
Yan Chen’s lips curled into a cruel smile, “No need.”
Gu Huai, being a sensitive person, quickly noticed the odd look in Yan Chen’s expression. “What do you mean?”
Yan Chen fixed him with a sharp gaze, his profile cold and merciless, “Those documents have already been anonymously sent to the police, so there’s no need for you to pay me back.”
Gu Huai froze, his eyes filling with horror as he stammered, “W-what did you say?”
Yan Chen narrowed his eyes dangerously, his voice full of venom, “I said, prepare to face the death penalty.”
Gu Huai was in utter disbelief. “Impossible, how could that be?”
Yan Chen looked at him with cold malice, took out his phone, and handed it to him, saying each word slowly, “Here are the reports from the person who filed the complaint. Open your eyes and take a good look.”
Gu Huai glanced at the report, his eyes widening in shock. He suddenly lunged forward, grabbing Yan Chen’s arm. “Why? Why are you doing this?”
Yan Chen’s eyes were icy as he lifted his hand and threw a stack of documents at Gu Huai’s face.
Caught off guard, Gu Huai was left with several red marks on his face. After a moment of stunned silence, he crouched down and picked up one of the papers to read.
The page was filled with rows of codes and numbers, dense and unintelligible.
“What is this?” he asked, confused.
Yan Chen glared at him coldly. “Look for yourself.”
Gu Huai breathed heavily, suspecting what it might be, and his expression darkened further. “You’ve been investigating this all these days?”
Yan Chen’s gaze was fierce. “What else? After deceiving me for eight years, how much longer did you think you could keep fooling me?”
Gu Huai gritted his teeth. “This kind of thing can easily be faked. It’s not trustworthy.”
Yan Chen’s lips curved into a sharp, dangerous line as he stepped forward and grabbed Gu Huai by the collar. “Enough! Even now, you still won’t admit it! You fraud!”
Gu Huai frowned deeply, fearing for his life as he clutched Yan Chen’s hand, struggling to speak. “Calm… calm down.”
Yan Chen’s face was a mask of violent rage, terrifyingly fierce. “How do you expect me to calm down? Your identity back then was fake, your noble persona was an act, and even hiring a hitman was something you could do. How much more are you hiding from me?”
Gu Huai clenched his brows, his tone agitated. “I was wrong to deceive you back then, but it was just an online account. Is that really so important?”
Yan Chen ground his teeth in fury. “Yes, it is. I’ve told you more than once how much that year online meant to me. You knew that, yet you continued to impersonate someone else without any remorse. It’s despicably wicked!”
Gu Huai pressed his lips together sternly. “Do you remember before we got married, I asked you if you’d still like me without those online experiences. You said you would.”
Yan Chen’s eyes burned with anger, veins throbbing on his forehead. “That was before I knew the truth, before I knew what a scumbag you are!”
Gu Huai had had enough and tore open his collar. “A scumbag? I think that’s you! We’ve known each other for over nine years, and you didn’t hesitate to turn me in, just watching as I faced death! You’re absolutely heartless!”
“Even if you knew the truth, so what? The real Crow was by your side all those years, yet what part of his kindness do you remember? Instead, you helped me ruin his family and then kicked him out of here.”
Yan Chen’s chest heaved violently, his voice full of hatred. “If you hadn’t deceived me, I would never have treated him that way!”
A trace of resentment flashed in Gu Huai’s eyes. “That’s your own fault for being so stupid. After all these years, you still don’t know who you really love! You’ve been going in circles, only to push all the blame on me in the end!”
Consumed by anger, Gu Huai no longer wanted to pretend. With the evidence now handed over to the police, he had no way out. He might as well lay everything bare and vent the frustration that had been building up for so long.
Yan Chen’s face was tight with anger as he grabbed Gu Huai by the throat, his whole demeanor like a vengeful demon. “You’ve got a death wish.”
Gu Huai couldn’t breathe, his face turning bright red, but he kept talking. “Am I wrong? You’re selfish and don’t deserve anyone’s love.”
Yan Chen tightened his grip, seemingly ready to snap Gu Huai’s neck.
Seeing that he had angered Yan Chen, Gu Huai felt a strange satisfaction and pushed him away with all his strength. Gasping for air, he said, “You always said Ye Mu was disgusting, but it was only because you saw him go into a room with a man and then shamelessly pursue you that you felt repulsed.”
“But let me tell you, that was all my doing. Ye Mu never slept with that man. He’s been foolishly in love with you for eight years and never did anything to betray you.”
Yan Chen’s expression changed instantly. “Why would you do that? At that time, I was already pursuing you. Why go to the trouble of framing him?”
Gu Huai sneered. “Some people are born with high intelligence but pitifully low emotional intelligence. You, unfortunately, are one of them. After all this time, haven’t you realized?”
Yan Chen frowned deeply, glaring at him with fierce eyes. “Realized what?”
Gu Huai looked up, his gaze dark as he replied, emphasizing each word, “You’ve always been in love with Ye Mu.”
Yan Chen froze, standing there in silence.
Gu Huai narrowed his eyes. “From the start, I knew you had feelings for him, but seeing how much you cared about that online identity, I decided to use it to reject your confession.”
As he spoke, his eyes filled with contempt. “You often called Ye Mu despicable, but you’re no better. The more unattainable something is, the more you cherish it. If I hadn’t done what I did back then, you wouldn’t have kept him in your thoughts for so long. Ye Mu humbled himself for you, and you treated him like dirt, trampling on his feelings. That’s the truth.”
“Unfortunately, even if you realize it now, what difference does it make? He’s already moved on and doesn’t love you anymore. It’s pathetic and laughable. Ye Mu probably wishes he had never met you. After all, loving a fool like you is a disgrace! Am I right?”
Yan Chen’s lips were tightly pressed together, a deep furrow between his brows, looking ominously dark. “Have you said enough?”
Gu Huai’s eyes widened, his expression terrifying. “No, not yet. Just wait! For what you did to me today, you’ll end up miserable too! You’re destined to die alone, with no place to be buried!”
His words grew more venomous as he vented all his pent-up rage and hatred, his once-refined demeanor completely gone, replaced by the aura of a demon from h*ll.
Yan Chen’s expression grew darker with every word. Finally, he opened the door and coldly told Gu Huai to get out.
Just then, footsteps sounded at the door as several officers wearing police caps walked in. The senior officer sternly asked, “Police. We’re looking for a man named Gu Huai. Is he here?”
Gu Huai froze, suddenly too scared to speak, standing there motionless, his eyes filled with terror.
The officer, comparing a photo in his hand, quickly recognized Gu Huai and said formally, “Gu Huai, we suspect you’re involved in a case of hiring a hitman. Please come with us.”
Gu Huai was stunned, and in the next moment, he tried to run, but his wrist was immediately grabbed.
The police acted swiftly, locking handcuffs on him and calling over a few officers to restrain him.
Gu Huai resisted fiercely, kicking and struggling, but he couldn’t overcome the strength of the officers and was forcibly dragged out.
Yan Chen remained indifferent, watching him being taken away in disgrace.
Gu Huai glared at him with deep resentment and intense anger in his eyes.
“Don’t worry, it’s just a firing squad,” Yan Chen said coldly, his voice dripping with contempt, treating Gu Huai like trash as he decisively shut the door.
Gu Huai’s face turned pale as death, his complexion ashen.
