Shoutout to nyanmaru for the commission!
Ye Mu frowned slightly, his expression cold. “Just consider me untrustworthy.”
Yan Chen leaned his head against the wall, staring at the gloomy sky. It felt as if something inside him had shattered. After a long silence, he said in a hoarse voice, “Untrustworthy? Easy for you to say. Do you really think you can just write me off like this?”
Ye Mu tightened his grip on his cane. “I never owed you anything.”
Yan Chen felt a dry, tearing pain in his throat with every word he spoke. “That doesn’t mean you can just get rid of me like this.”
Ye Mu stared at the streetlight outside, his expression calm. “I don’t know where your confidence comes from, but it’s impossible between us now.”
Yan Chen laughed, though there was no humor in his eyes. “If I wanted to, that Chen Mo is nothing. I could play all sorts of dirty tricks and ruin him anytime. Do you think I’m confident now?”
In the cold winter air, Ye Mu stood outside, his fingers numb from the cold. His breath came out as white mist as he said, “Enough, don’t make me hate you.”
Yan Chen’s heart twisted in pain. “Hah, do you really care about him that much?”
Ye Mu’s eyes showed sincerity. “I do.”
Yan Chen slowly raised his hand to cover his eyes, choking out, “That’s not fair. How long have you even known that b*stard?”
Ye Mu took a deep breath. “There’s no such thing as fairness. In the past eight years, if you had just turned around and looked at me even once, today wouldn’t be like this.”
Yan Chen’s throat burned as if on fire. “It’s not too late to look now.”
Ye Mu replied calmly, “It’s too late.”
Though the words were simple, they seemed to seal his fate.
Yan Chen’s heart felt as if it was being slowly torn apart. He struggled to speak, “Give me some more time, and I’ll make you change your mind.”
Ye Mu’s tone was distant. “There’s no need. I’ve already made up my mind. Nothing you do will change that.”
Yan Chen’s eyes were bloodshot. “Ye Mu, don’t you get it? We only ended up like this because of misunderstandings. Come back to me for a while, and you’ll start liking me again, just like before.”
Ye Mu looked at the distant lights, his gaze lowered. “You’re the one who doesn’t understand. I won’t go back to living that life with you. When I think about it, besides trampling, insulting, and betraying me, what else can you give me?”
Yan Chen forced a smile. “That’s because I didn’t know you were crow. From now on, I’ll treat you well. Do you understand? The person I’ve always admired was you.”
Ye Mu’s heart felt cold. “Don’t say such nauseating things, and don’t say you love me. I can’t handle it. If a mere virtual account can make you change so drastically, what happens if another crow comes along? Will you kick me to the curb like you did with Gu Huai? You don’t really love anyone but yourself.”
Yan Chen responded sadly, “Think what you want. In the end, all you see now is that little b*stard.”
Ye Mu pressed his lips together. “Yes, all I see is him.”
Yan Chen suddenly felt his eyes sting, laughing twice bitterly. “And what about him? Maybe he’s just playing with you for a bit of novelty.”
Ye Mu’s tone was light, his words firm. “He wouldn’t do that. He’s not that kind of person.”
Yan Chen’s voice was rough. “Don’t speak too soon. There’ll come a time when you’ll be proven wrong.”
Ye Mu frowned. He knew Yan Chen well enough to understand that if he said such things, he would definitely do something next. “I advise you not to meddle.”
Yan Chen’s lips were pale. “I’m not meddling, just helping you see the truth. You’ll soon know if that b*stard’s love is as strong as you think.”
Ye Mu felt displeased. “What’s the point of doing all this now?”
Yan Chen leaned against the wall, his eyes red and teary, laughing bitterly. “I’m just bored. Out of love comes hate. I’m just jealous and can’t stand to see you happy. Is that good enough?”
Ye Mu’s expression turned cold. “Yan Chen, you really disgust me.”
Yan Chen pulled his lips into a bitter smile, not saying anything as he hung up the phone.
It wasn’t until he heard Ye Mu’s voice full of contempt calling him disgusting that he realized how deeply his heart could hurt, as if something inside him was being torn apart, leaving him breathless.
Slowly, he slumped down, burying his face in his chest, tears flowing like a trapped beast.
Perhaps it was truly karma for him to have so recklessly squandered and worn down this person’s love.
Now, all that was left were bones and ruins.
When you loved me, I didn’t love you. But when I finally realized I loved you, you had already turned around and fallen for someone else.
How truly laughable and sad.
…
Ye Mu listened to the dial tone on the other end of the phone, his dark eyes filled with exhaustion. He closed his eyes and returned to his room.
After standing outside for over ten minutes, his pale arms were covered in purple veins and bulging muscles. When he crawled into bed, his whole body was chilled.
Chen Mo frowned almost imperceptibly, curling up in the corner with the blanket.
Ye Mu was freezing, his teeth chattering. “What are you doing?”
Chen Mo turned his back to him, saying nothing.
Ye Mu frowned, forcing one foot into the bed to warm up.
Chen Mo’s face was a bit sour, his tone sharp. “There’s an extra blanket in the closet. Go get it yourself.”
Ye Mu had just finished the phone call, his mind filled with worries, his tone a bit annoyed. “What did I do to you?”
Chen Mo shot him a cold look. “Who were you talking to so late?”
Ye Mu avoided his gaze, speaking indifferently. “Family.”
A sharp glint flashed in Chen Mo’s downcast eyes. “Calling family members requires you to go outside and hide? In weather that’s below freezing?”
Ye Mu’s expression was a bit unnatural. “I didn’t want to disturb your sleep.”
Chen Mo’s tone was casual, almost careless. “Is that so? Funny, I never noticed you being so considerate of me before.”
Ye Mu lowered his eyelids, clearly not in the mood to deal with Chen Mo’s sarcastic tone.
Chen Mo, unwillingly, tossed the blanket over him. “Earlier, that Yan fellow said he wanted to talk to you alone. Was it him who called?”
Since he had guessed, Ye Mu saw no reason to hide it. “He called to ask me some things.”
Chen Mo tugged at the corners of his lips, his eyes full of deep sarcasm. “What, asking to get back together?”
Ye Mu glanced at him a couple of times. “You heard?”
Thinking back, halfway through the call, there had indeed been a shadow lurking by the curtains.
Chen Mo turned his head away, not looking at him, his sharp chin held arrogantly high, his voice cold. “The wind was too loud. I didn’t hear clearly.”
Ye Mu slightly raised an eyebrow. “How about I tell you everything?”
Chen Mo glanced at him with a blank expression. “Would you really say it?”
Ye Mu teased him intentionally. “If you don’t want to hear it, I won’t say anything.”
Chen Mo, stubborn as ever, kept his young and handsome face stern. “Say it if you want.”
Ye Mu shrugged indifferently. “Then I won’t say it. It’s nothing important anyway.”
Chen Mo clicked his tongue and shot him a look. “Stop keeping people in suspense.”
Ye Mu, feeling a bit tired, leaned over and rested on Chen Mo’s shoulder. “It’s nothing, just a rejection.”
Chen Mo’s thin lips curved into a slightly harsh smile, his voice deep. “Smart move. If you hadn’t rejected him, you’d be in trouble.”
Ye Mu, feeling uncomfortable, adjusted his position and nestled into Chen Mo’s neck. “That’s not all. He also said you’re just playing around with me.”
Chen Mo furrowed his brows, his profile sharp and fierce. “Bullsh*t.”
Ye Mu looked at him, his gaze mixed with hesitation and seriousness. “There’s something I’ve always wanted to ask.”
Chen Mo wrapped an arm around him, his lean muscles radiating masculinity. “Ask.”
Ye Mu’s eyes were filled with doubt. “Doesn’t it bother you?”
Chen Mo helped tuck him into the blanket, his high nose casting a shadow. “Bother me about what?”
Ye Mu stared directly at him. “About a man liking another man.”
He thought straight men usually struggled with this, but Chen Mo seemed perfectly at ease, even starting to flirt the day after they first slept together.
Chen Mo narrowed his long, phoenix-shaped eyes, pondering for a moment before replying in a deep voice, “I don’t know. At the time, I just followed my instincts. Maybe it was… passion.”
Ye Mu shot him a cold look, pretending not to know. “What passion?”
Chen Mo touched his cheek and responded stiffly, “I don’t know.”
Ye Mu remained calm. “If you say it, I might agree to live together.”
Chen Mo glanced at him, skeptical. “Are you serious?”
Ye Mu’s voice was emotionless. “Yes.”
Chen Mo couldn’t help but mock him, disdainful and sneering. “With your character?”
Ye Mu laughed coldly. “What’s wrong with my character? Some people like it.”
Chen Mo’s brows furrowed, his lips tinged with sarcasm and mockery. “What idiot would that be?”
Ye Mu rarely challenged him, raising his chin slightly. “This one right here.”
Chen Mo half-closed his eyes, his profile oozing intensity. He leaned in and playfully bit Ye Mu’s lip.
Ye Mu didn’t feel any pain, tilting his head to cooperate as he gently traced the outline of Chen Mo’s lips with his wet tongue.
Though they had been bickering just moments ago, they were now back to being tender with each other.
Chen Mo’s eyes were filled with desire. Breathing heavily, he leaned close to Ye Mu’s ear, his voice magnetic. “Can’t you get better faster?”
Ye Mu stroked his Adam’s apple. “Just be patient a little longer.”
Chen Mo’s handsome brow arched, his Adam’s apple bobbing as he said, “Weren’t you asking what kind of passion it was? I’ve figured it out.”
Ye Mu looked up at him and asked, “What kind?”
Chen Mo’s lips curled up as he guided Ye Mu’s hand to his lower body, his voice flat but revealing sharp teeth. “Lust.”
Ye Mu gave him a cold glance, using his hand as if it were a blade, poised at a vulnerable spot. “Are you sure?”
Chen Mo’s profile was aggressive as he mimicked Ye Mu, targeting his weak spot too. Narrowing his eyes, he said, “You think I’m afraid of you?”
Ye Mu smirked slightly, letting go and moving his hand to Chen Mo’s well-defined abs. “If you don’t want to say, just forget it.”
Chen Mo caressed Ye Mu’s slender waist, suddenly leaning in close to his ear. With a mischievous grin, he whispered, “Love.”
Ye Mu felt a mix of bitterness and sweetness in his heart. He turned his head to kiss Chen Mo’s cheek.
Chen Mo tilted his head slightly, his profile handsome and sharp, as he roughly and eagerly sealed Ye Mu’s lips with his own.
In that moment, something seemed to resonate deeply within both of them, making them inseparable.
Indeed, love can blind people, but whether this blindness is good or bad remains unknown.
