Shoutout to nyanmaru for the commission!
The evening breeze was cool, blowing pleasantly.
With that thought in mind, Chen Mo simply and straightforwardly asked.
Ye Mu didn’t respond, his eyes drooping as he looked at the two clear, glistening lines of mucus, frowning slightly.
So dirty.
Chen Mo wasn’t focused on that. Sniffing his nose, he moved his lips, “You didn’t say anything, so does that mean you agree?”
Ye Mu, suppressing his discomfort, kept his expression wooden, “Say less.”
He didn’t intend to reconcile so easily, but he couldn’t accept the current situation. The mucus was about to reach Chen Mo’s mouth.
Chen Mo, seeing a glimmer of hope, but still unsure, looked at him with red eyes and a low voice, “Don’t betray me later.”
As he spoke, he subconsciously sniffed the sticky mucus back, but it quickly dripped down again.
Ye Mu felt a bit nauseous, his face expressionless, “Wipe it first.”
Chen Mo pursed his lips and directly rolled up his sleeve to wipe his face clean, then looked back at Ye Mu.
Ye Mu remained unmoved, his lashes lowered as he glanced at Chen Mo’s sleeve.
So unhygienic.
Chen Mo, seeing his disgust, took off the dirty sweater, leaving only a black tank top, and tilted his head down slightly to match Ye Mu’s height, making it easier for him to kiss.
Ye Mu looked at the remaining traces on his face, wanting to use a handkerchief to clean him up but remembered he had dropped it earlier, “Do you have any tissues?”
Chen Mo checked his pockets, feeling emotionless, “No.”
Ye Mu sighed and took out his keys, walking a few steps into the hallway and opening a door, “There are still some parts not cleaned. Come in and wash your face.”
Chen Mo, feeling a bit left out, pouted but didn’t argue and quietly followed him inside.
After changing his shoes, Ye Mu didn’t say much and walked slowly to the bathroom.
Chen Mo wandered around, noticing that although the apartment was much smaller than before, it had a lot of paintings on the walls, making it feel stylish, “When did you start liking collecting these things?”
Ye Mu, rinsing a towel with hot water, replied briefly, “They’re gifts from colleagues.”
Chen Mo narrowed his eyes, feeling a pang of jealousy, “Really? That colleague must like you a lot.”
Ye Mu didn’t respond, silently turning off the faucet and handing him the towel.
Since it was soaked in warm water, it felt cozy and was still steaming.
Chen Mo took it and carefully wiped his face, continuing the earlier conversation, with a hint of hidden intent, “Which colleague?”
Ye Mu nodded, not hiding anything, “You met him earlier.”
“Oh.”
Chen Mo’s expression remained unchanged, but after a while, he coolly remarked, “He seems like a nice guy.”
Ye Mu agreed lightly, “He’s helped me a lot during this time.”
Chen Mo glanced at him with a mix of curiosity and suspicion, probing for more information, “By the way, why did you guys come back so late tonight?”
Ye Mu answered casually, “We went to see an exhibition.”
Chen Mo felt increasingly uneasy, forcing a stiff smile, “Really? Who asked whom?”
Ye Mu poured a glass of water for him, “I happened to have tickets, so I invited him.”
Chen Mo told himself to stay calm, trying to keep a smile on his face, “Of all the people you know, why him?”
Ye Mu looked at him, a bit impatient, “No particular reason, just felt like we had a lot in common.”
Chen Mo forced an awkward smile, his facial muscles twitching, “Makes sense. Since you’re new to this city, it’s good to have someone to talk to.”
In the past, he would have pressed for answers, but now, given the delicate situation and their slightly improved relationship, he didn’t want to push too hard, so he held back.
Ye Mu remained silent, just about to say, “Can you stop asking so many questions?” when his phone rang.
Chen Mo bit his lip and leaned against the wall, standing by and watching as Ye Mu answered the call.
“Hello, Ye Mu, are you home?” A man’s deep, magnetic voice came through the receiver.
Ye Mu’s expression was indifferent. “Yes, I am.”
Jiang Xu’s tone was filled with concern. “That person didn’t do anything to you, did they?”
Ye Mu lowered his eyes, his tone softening, sounding more gentle. “It’s fine. I’m really sorry about tonight. You got punched for no reason because of me.”
Chen Mo, listening intently on the side, swore he had never heard Ye Mu speak to him so gently before. He suppressed his anger, tightly gripping his arm to keep himself from acting impulsively.
Jiang Xu touched his wound and replied with a hint of helplessness in his voice, “It does hurt a bit. How about you treat me to dinner tomorrow?”
D*mn it, you shameless dog! You just got punched, and now you’re using that as an excuse to get close to him.
Chen Mo’s chest tightened with anger, and his eyes practically burned with fury as he glared at the phone in silence.
Ye Mu, seemingly unaware, continued chatting on the phone, “Sure, you decide what to eat.”
Jiang Xu’s lips curled with interest. “How about Korean food? I heard a new place opened nearby, and it’s supposed to be really good.”
Screw you! How could you be so shameless? And Korean food? Don’t you know that China has been in conflict with Korea recently over the THAAD issue, almost to the point of launching missiles? You’re such a traitor!
Chen Mo’s lips tightened, his whole body radiating hostility.
Ye Mu smiled. “I was just thinking of taking you there. Great minds think alike.”
Jiang Xu’s eyes sparkled like the moon, his eyelashes thick and long. “We always seem to be in sync.”
Ye Mu nodded. “Then it’s settled.”
Jiang Xu’s tone was calm and composed as he lightly said, “Alright.”
Chen Mo was fuming as he watched the two of them being all lovey-dovey. He ground his teeth, nearly biting them into pieces.
In the dead of night, these two were simply shameless!
Since they had made their decision, Ye Mu didn’t say much more. “Alright then, goodnight.”
After tonight, Jiang Xu could have easily asked Ye Mu more personal and intimate questions, like about his sexual orientation. But instead, he skillfully avoided the topic, choosing a lighter way to communicate with him, which Ye Mu greatly appreciated.
Jiang Xu, on the other end, seemed in a good mood. After listening, he also responded, “Goodnight, Little Mu Mu.”
Those three sweet words made Chen Mo feel like spitting blood. His eyes widened in shock as he stared at Ye Mu.
On the other hand, Ye Mu, who seemed accustomed to the nickname, naturally hung up the phone.
At this point, Chen Mo felt like he couldn’t hold it in any longer. Standing there, gripping a towel, his muscles tensed. “Don’t you think you owe me an explanation?”
Ye Mu glanced at him. “He’s been abroad for a long time. He gives everyone in the store nicknames, not just me.”
Chen Mo, feeling jealous, his features showing a hint of resentment, replied, “In that case, I’ll call you that too from now on.”
Ye Mu frowned, his pale face showing a hint of rejection. “No.”
Chen Mo nearly blurted out, “Why not?”
Ye Mu pinched the bridge of his nose. “It’s too mushy.”
Chen Mo felt aggrieved, his eyes reddening. “Why can he do it, then?”
Ye Mu turned his head away, avoiding his gaze, his tone complicated. “He’s my friend. You’re not.”
Chen Mo was stunned, his heart feeling like it had been punched. He didn’t speak for a long time, finally squeezing out, “So what are we, then?”
D*mn it, does this mean we can’t even be friends after breaking up?
Ye Mu clenched his fists, remaining silent. There were some things he really didn’t want to say out loud.
Chen Mo couldn’t describe the sour feeling in his heart. That jealousy made him lose his mind, driving him to madness. It was just a simple nickname, but he was so envious and jealous it was killing him.
“First it was that scumbag Yan, and now it’s this Jiang Xu guy. How many men do you have?!”
Ye Mu looked up, his expression complicated. “Calm down. Stop letting your imagination run wild.”
Chen Mo’s eyes were bloodshot as he yelled at him, “How am I supposed to calm down? Just thinking about you two being so close drives me crazy!”
Ye Mu’s face showed a hint of helplessness. “It’s not as bad as you think.”
Chen Mo wasn’t listening. His chest felt like it was boiling with rage. “You know it’s bad, don’t you? You just want to dump me and find another man!”
Ye Mu took a deep breath. “I’m telling you again, nothing happened between us.”
Chen Mo couldn’t help but explode, his sharp profile cutting through the air like a knife. “You’re lying! If that’s true, why can he call you that? Stop lying! You’re just looking for someone new!”
Ye Mu’s face also showed a hint of anger, his lips pressed tightly together. “Enough! Stop slandering people. If this is your attitude, then never bring up getting back together again!”
Chen Mo had cried and begged before, but now that he was angry, he threw everything out the window. “Who cares! Let me tell you, Ye Mu, we can go our separate ways! Don’t talk to me about getting back together. You stopped caring about me a long time ago. And that Little Mu Mu, I hope you and that b*stard Jiang Xu live happily ever after!”
Ye Mu felt extremely hurt hearing this. He glared at him, biting his lip hard. “Are you done yet?”
Chen Mo’s chest heaved as he continued cursing like a wildfire. “I’m not done! I don’t want to stop. Now I finally understand why you never forgave me. You’ve been hooking up with someone else this whole time. You’re nothing but a complete liar! I must have been blind to fall for you. If I ever come back to you, I’ll take myself out and get struck by lightning!”
He hadn’t even finished the last few words when he was suddenly silenced by a pair of soft lips.
Chen Mo was stunned. By the time he reacted, he realized that at some point, Ye Mu had wrapped his arms around his neck and kissed him.
In just a few seconds, his tongue was unexpectedly teased, a tingling sensation rushing from his tailbone, making his heart race as if he’d been electrocuted.
The air seemed to freeze, and everything else became irrelevant, leaving only an indescribable atmosphere between them.
Ye Mu quickly pulled back, stepping away, gasping for breath. He gritted his teeth and said, “That kind of mushy nickname… if it were just a normal friend, I wouldn’t care, but if you called me that, I’d feel embarrassed and uncomfortable. If you keep making things up, I can only apologize.”
He wasn’t sure why he did something so impulsive. He had clearly decided to draw a line between them, but for some reason, at that moment, he didn’t want Chen Mo to say anything that would damage their relationship beyond repair.
Maybe he was still foolishly wavering, holding on to a small hope that they could continue.
As this thought flashed through his mind, Ye Mu frowned in frustration, a strong sense of agitation rising in his chest. He stood there, feeling at a loss.
Chen Mo looked down at him, completely stunned, his heart pounding. His young, handsome face inexplicably flushed.
He didn’t fully grasp the meaning of Ye Mu’s words. The only thought in his mind was:
The feeling of being kissed by Ye Mu… so embarrassing.
He felt hot all over.
