The white creature moved swiftly, though not as fast as Ah Wu. Yet even at his pace, he was much quicker than riding a horse.

After running for many days, he suddenly stopped.

Raising his head, he let out a howl, “Awoooo!”

As his howl echoed, back in the Great Qing Imperial Palace, the cold and menacing crown prince’s eyes lost their murderous intent.

He looked at the trembling imperial physician and coldly said, “Useless fool.”

The old emperor of Great Qing was beyond saving.

Without the old emperor, the crown prince would have to take on even more responsibilities.

The more the crown prince thought about it, the more he realized that everyone, from the imperial physician to the old emperor, was useless.

“Leave,” he ordered coldly, dismissing the imperial physician. Then he summoned his trusted minister and quickly arranged the necessary tasks before leaving the palace.

By the time the crown prince exited the palace, the little white creature that had howled outside was already too tired to howl anymore.

The fluffy white creature lay in the grass, its round black eyes staring ahead.

“Zai Zai.”

A large shadow fell over the little white creature. A giant red-and-white beast, several times larger than the little creature, stood nearby.

The giant beast lowered its head and gently nudged the little creature with its snout.

The giant beast carefully picked up the little creature.

The little white creature, unfazed by the tumble, affectionately wrapped its paws around the giant beast.

After sharing a moment of affection, the two continued on their journey.

The little creature had grown to the height of an adult’s knee by now, but even so, he still seemed small in front of Ah Wu.

“Run faster,” the little creature urged while sitting on the back of the giant beast. “We need to reach the Divine Doctor Valley quickly.”

The little creature had already explained the route to the Divine Doctor Valley to Ah Wu.

Ah Wu had a photographic memory, so just one glance at the route was enough for him to know the way. His sense of direction was far superior to that of the little creature on his back.

Time passed bit by bit.

With Ah Wu leading the way, it took them just over a day to reach a spot about ten miles away from the Divine Doctor Valley.

“We’ll be there soon,” Ah Wu said as he gently lowered the little creature from his back.

Having traveled so quickly over the past day, the little creature was feeling a bit dizzy from the ride.

As he was set down, the little creature looked dazed, his little paws stiff.

“Zai Zai, are you okay?” Ah Wu asked, gazing down at the little creature slumped on the ground.

The little creature weakly wiggled his paws, indicating he was fine.

Since they were so close to the Divine Doctor Valley, Ah Wu decided not to rush and laid down to wait for the little creature to recover.

After a long while, the little creature slowly got up from the ground. He shook his paws and his head, stretching his body a bit.

Once he was done, he looked in the direction of the Divine Doctor Valley and suddenly realized something important.

“Ah Wu, we didn’t bring any gifts.”

When visiting someone’s home, it’s important to bring gifts. Since this Divine Doctor Valley didn’t belong to Uncle Lian Qing, it would be rude to go empty-handed.

“Ah Wu, let’s go buy some gifts!”

Ling Rui didn’t want to be impolite, especially since they were also coming to the valley to ask for medicinal herbs. He didn’t want to show up empty-handed under any circumstances.

The two carts contained all the essentials, from food to clothing.

“If that’s not enough, we can also give them some silver!” Ling Rui said, patting his pocket with one hand as he pushed the cart with the other.

He had packed plenty of money before they set off.

“This should be enough,” Ah Wu said. He had never met the people from the Divine Doctor Valley, but he believed the gifts they brought would be sufficient.

Each of them pushed a cart as they made their way back to the valley.

However, the entrance marked on the map to the Divine Doctor Valley was harder to find in reality.

Ling Rui set his cart down and looked around for a long time.

“Ah Wu, where’s the entrance?”

“I don’t know.”

Ah Wu searched for a while but couldn’t find it either. Running out of patience, he eventually suggested, “Let’s flatten the area. That’ll help us find the entrance.”

He hesitated and said, “Maybe not.”

Just as they were talking, someone rushed out of the house in a hurry.

“They’re here for me. Please give me some face.”

Lian Qing ran over and spoke to them, “My kids have been looking for me. I sent a message for them to come.”

“Elder, please open the gate. These two are well-behaved kids, I promise they won’t cause any trouble.”

With Lian Qing’s assurance, the elder of the Divine Doctor Valley led him to open the gate.

The moment the gate opened, the two cubs outside had just transformed back to their human forms. They were sitting on the ground, roasting meat over a fire.

Ah Wu said, as he tore the meat in his hand into strips and fed them to Ling Rui.

Ling Rui opened his mouth to eat, entirely used to being fed by Ah Wu.

The two hadn’t even finished their meal when Lian Qing’s voice rang out from nearby.

“Little Seven, Ah Wu!”

Lian Qing looked at the two youths with a smile in his eyes. He immediately recognized Little Seven because his small face still carried traces of how he used to look. As for the person standing beside Little Seven, who was so close to him, Lian Qing thought for a moment and figured it was probably Ah Wu.

It had been years since he’d seen them, and both children had grown up, looking healthy and strong.

Lian Qing’s eyes were filled with joy. Ling Rui, who had been eating meat, lifted his head when he heard the voice. The moment he saw Lian Qing, he froze.

Their eyes met for a long moment before Ling Rui stood up, his eyes already red.

“Uncle Lian Qing!”

Ling Rui sniffled and ran toward Lian Qing.

Lian Qing opened his arms and caught him in an embrace.

The two hugged tightly, and Ling Rui’s eyes reddened even more, his voice choked with emotion. “Uncle Lian Qing, where have you been all these years? I’ve missed you so much.”

“I’ve missed you too,” Lian Qing replied, gently stroking his head, unwilling to let go. The little boy he could once easily pick up had grown so big.

“If you missed me, why didn’t you come find me?” Ling Rui complained, sniffling again. “If I’d known where you were, I would have come to find you right away.”

Lian Qing cleared his throat, explaining, “I wasn’t feeling well these past few years and needed to take care of my health.”

The two continued hugging and chatting, but before long, Ah Wu walked over and interrupted them.

“We’ve brought a lot of stuff. Let’s bring it in first.”

Ah Wu’s interruption reminded Ling Rui of the meat on his cart.

“Uncle Lian Qing, Ah Wu and I bought some gifts for you,” Ling Rui said.

The people behind Lian Qing had already noticed the two carts.

The people of the Divine Doctor Valley didn’t refuse the gifts. They helped push the carts inside, inviting the two youths in as well.

“Is the Big Boss here?” Ling Rui asked, holding Lian Qing’s hand and tilting his head toward him.

“He’s not here right now,” Lian Qing replied, then asked, “Do you miss him?”

“Of course I do.”

Ling Rui thought of the Big Boss and told Lian Qing about how the Big Boss had changed after Lian Qing disappeared.

“After you left, the Big Boss stopped smiling.”

Lian Qing burst out laughing. “What kind of little housekeeper talk is that?”

Ling Rui: “?”

Ling Rui blinked in confusion. “What housekeeper?”

He didn’t understand what Uncle Lian Qing was saying.

Trying not to laugh, Lian Qing explained, “It’s something from certain books, where the housekeeper says that to the male protagonist.”

Even after the explanation, Ling Rui still looked bewildered.

“Alright, let’s not get into that. Did you and Ah Wu come here to see me?” Lian Qing asked.

“I came to see you, but I’m also here for some long xing grass,” Ling Rui said, explaining the situation in Yanzhou Prefecture. After finishing, he shook Lian Qing’s hand and softly pleaded, “Uncle Lian Qing, can you help me find some long xing grass? I need to take it back for Shui Shui.”

“Long xing grass… I’ll help you find it,” Lian Qing agreed without hesitation. He took Ling Rui’s hand and led him deeper into the valley.

The inside of the Divine Doctor Valley looked as if it had been damaged in the past. Although there were many flowers and plants now, traces of the destruction were still visible.

After they entered, Lian Qing had someone prepare hot water for them.

“You’ve had a long journey. Rest first; don’t worry about the long xing grass.”

“Okay!” Ling Rui felt completely at ease now that they had found Lian Qing.

“Alright, go take a bath now,” Lian Qing said, pointing out the rooms where they would be staying.

Ling Rui glanced at the rooms and hesitated for a moment.

This time, he and Ah Wu had separate rooms.
