Both Xia Yuqing and Xia Mingxuan fell off the high cliff. In the moment of falling, Xia Yuqing turned her head and met the panicked and anxious gaze of Feng Tingye and his outstretched hand.

She wanted so badly to reach out and hold that hand, to tell him that this expression shouldn’t be on his face. But she couldn’t, so all she could do was watch her clothes slip through his fingers, turning his panic into utter despair.

During the descent, Xia Yuqing saw familiar faces – Xia Muyun, Yan Ran, Shao Zitang, each wearing the same expression of panic and pain, and reaching out to grab her hand.

Xia Yuqing wanted to smile, but tears filled her eyes uncontrollably.

Third Royal Sister, I’m sorry for keeping this from you, but please believe that I truly considered you my sister, as well as my brothers… all of them. Though Iceberg Prime Minister appeared cold on the surface, he is a warm-hearted person. You will be happy in the future.

Gorgeous Grand Tutor please treat Xiao Yuan well and stop provoking her to make her angry. General He is an honest person, so I believe you will cherish Xiao Xi. Little Shangshu, Miss Yan has had a hard time before, so please take good care of her from now on. Senior Brother, you have too many past misdeeds, so you must wash away those accusations and make Cui Er trust you more. And Second Senior Brother… I entrust Lu Rui to you.

Finally… the one I’m most reluctant to leave, please take good care of our children and be filial to the Empress Dowager… Actually, what I really want to say is, I really, really like you. Even if you bully me all the time, even if you enjoy teasing me, even if you never say you love me in a cheesy way… even then… I still like you. If I could, I really don’t want to leave you, but… it’s too late.

Everything… has come to an end! Feeling the cold wind blowing against her cheeks, Xia Yuqing closed her eyes silently.

Feng Tingye knelt at the edge of the cliff, staring blankly at the empty cliff and his empty hands. After a while, he came to his senses and let out a shocking roar, “Ah…”

The darkness of the curtain enveloped Xia Yuqing’s vision, and her ears echoed with only that trembling roar that made her shiver. Slowly, the whistling wind faded away, and the roar gradually moved away from her. Xia Yuqing instinctively reached out to try to hold on, but…

“Doctor, doctor, I just saw her hand move, really! Come and check her quickly!”

A familiar and excited cry echoed in her ears, making it difficult for Xia Yuqing to open her eyes. When she finally did, she saw a face full of anticipation and joy.

Xia Yuqing’s pupils suddenly contracted. She couldn’t believe her eyes, looking at the girl standing by her bed, excited with tears in her eyes. She tentatively asked, “Xiao Yu?”

As soon as the words left her mouth, Xia Yuqing unconsciously frowned. Why did her voice sound like a male duck’s?

Jiang Jinyu didn’t pay attention to that. She saw the person she had been guarding for so long finally wake up, and tears uncontrollably streamed down her face. She hugged Xia Yuqing, who hadn’t fully recovered her senses, and said hoarsely, “You scared me, do you know? If you didn’t wake up, I would have left you here to fend for yourself. We almost… almost gave up on you. Waaah…”

Xia Yuqing was stunned, remembering the time…

“How long… have I been asleep?” Xia Yuqing reached out and looked at the lines on her palm, asking softly.

“Nearly four months, in another week, it will be exactly four months.”

“Four months!” Xia Yuqing covered her forehead with her hand. It had only been four months, why did it feel like she had lived a whole lifetime? Why did she feel… so sad?

Xia Yuqing slowly closed her eyes, allowing a tear to trickle down her cheek and fall onto the snowy white pillow, disappearing in an instant.

Jiang Jinyu was busy going outside to find a doctor to examine Xia Yuqing and didn’t notice.

The patient who was previously determined to be in a vegetative state suddenly woke up, causing the entire hospital to erupt in excitement. Especially after the examination revealed that the patient, who had only been sustained by nutrient solutions not long ago, had fully recovered except for some weakness, this made everyone’s gaze towards Xia Yuqing filled with awe and trepidation.

However, Xia Yuqing didn’t care much about the attention from the people around her. Having crossed the gates of h*ll and come back to life, she considered herself extremely fortunate to be alive. Why should she be bothered by these insignificant things?

Half a month later, Xia Yuqing, withstanding the terrifying gazes of the doctors and nurses, successfully checked out of the hospital, dressed in the usual white coat and green scrubs.

Jiang Jinyu was still the one to pick her up. Xia Yuqing didn’t have many relatives, and her beloved grandparents had already passed away. Her unscrupulous parents had been overseas and were impossible to contact.

“I called your parents so many times in these four months, but their phones were always out of the service area.” Jiang Jinyu complained indignantly. She couldn’t believe there were parents who wouldn’t even know if their child died at home.

“They probably went to places without a signal, like the Sahara Desert. They won’t be back for three to five years. Anyways, besides sending money, they never really cared about me. I’m used to it.” Xia Yuqing pushed open her apartment door with some exhaustion. Suddenly, she seemed to remember something and turned to look at Jiang Jinyu. “By the way, since you couldn’t contact my parents, what about the hospital bills…”

Jiang Jinyu rolled her eyes uncontrollably. “You just remembered now? Of course, the three of us scraped the money together.”

Xia Yuqing was momentarily stunned. She stared at Jiang Jinyu as if she had seen a monster. “Even you, a miser, have a day of shedding feathers?”

Before Xia Yuqing finished her words, Jiang Jinyu’s palm came flying at her. She had initially aimed at Xia Yuqing’s head, but considering that she had just recovered from a serious illness, she stopped her action mid-way and redirected it elsewhere.

“Hmph, I can’t be bothered with you.”

“Hehe… during the time I was in the hospital, all of you took turns to accompany me, right?” Xia Yuqing asked with a mischievous smile.

“At first, all three of us took turns, but on Little Qing’s turn, the hospital suddenly caught fire. You know her physique; wherever she goes, trouble is bound to follow. So, for your safety, Little Qing didn’t come to the hospital after that.”

“…”

Little Qing, also known as Ye Chuqing, lived in the opposite unit of Xia Yuqing’s apartment building. She was a very gentle and kind-hearted girl, one of Xia Yuqing’s best friends. Her name, Ye Chuqing, perfectly suited her, as she exuded a fresh and pure feeling, as if after the rain. She was the kind of girl who was perfect to be cherished and loved. Unfortunately, her unique constitution was a curse; every time she stepped out, accidents would happen within a radius of ten meters, making her a natural disaster. Many people had pursued her before, but all were scared away by her bizarre aura.

“As for An An, she’s a level two disaster in terms of daily life. Taking care of herself is already a problem, and you want her to take care of you? Do you want to live even shorter?” Jiang Jinyu quipped.

“…” Xia Yuqing was rendered speechless.

“So, these days, it’s been you taking care of me, Little Yu. I knew you loved me the most. Come give me a kiss…” Xia Yuqing paused, then suddenly remembered the scene when she had just woken up. Jiang Jinyu had stood by her bedside with two huge dark circles under her eyes, looking haggard. Her eyes had sparkled faintly as she leaned in for a kiss, only to be pushed away by Jiang Jinyu.

“How much is your kiss worth? If you really want to thank me, pay back the hospital fees right away. Plus, there’s the cost of taking care of you, the emotional distress, and these days when I’ve been busy mining coins for you. Don’t you know how many times my readers have bothered me just to take care of you, a freeloader? You must take responsibility!” Jiang Jinyu took out a calculator from her pocket and started tapping away. Afterward, she tossed the calculator at Xia Yuqing with a majestic gesture. “This is the amount. Since we have such a good relationship, I’ve given you a 10% discount. You don’t have to thank me too much. Go and gather the money. I’m going back to get some rest.”

With that said, she slammed her door right in front of Xia Yuqing, leaving Xia Yuqing staring at the calculator in her arms with a love-hate look.

“…” That d*mn miser and stingy ghost!

It could be said that Xia Yuqing and Jiang Jinyu’s relationship was one of ill fate. Back when Jiang Jinyu was still an inexperienced rookie writer on a certain website, Xia Yuqing had her eye on her, well, on her story. To get a hold of that story, which had left her trembling with excitement, Xia Yuqing basically camped in front of the updates every day, throwing flowers and diamonds, acting cute, and begging for updates. But one day, her most beloved story was actually… put on hold! And it was stuck right at the most exciting part!

Xia Yuqing’s fragile heart shattered into pieces. With all her might, she tried everything and finally found the author’s QQ. Without hesitation, she went to flirt with her. The result…

After the rain every day clear and bright: Big sis!

Nothing to do wooden fish: ?

After the rain every day clear and bright: I’m your brainwashed fan! Why did you put the story on hold? Why did you put the story on hold? Why did you put the story on hold? Explain!

Nothing to do wooden fish:…

After the rain every day clear and bright: Big sis?

Nothing to do wooden fish: The world will end in 2012, and I’m packing up to escape to Mars. If we meet again, it’s fate!

After the rain every day clear and bright: …Big sis, are you kidding me? Please update, don’t leave us hanging!

Nothing to do wooden fish: [Auto-reply] This person is deceased. If you need something, burn paper! For big issues, dig graves; for small issues, summon spirits!

After the rain every day clear and bright:…

So, Xia Yuqing’s first contact with Jiang Jinyu ended with her being infuriated by the response. Then, one day, she was astonished to find that the person who had made her spit blood from anger was her new neighbor across the hall. Xia Yuqing was ecstatic; how could this be such a twist of fate!

Jiang Jinyu: It’s all ill-fate!

And so, under Xia Yuqing’s deliberate attempts to woo her, the two of them gradually became partners in crime, sharing everything and speaking about anything as good friends.

Carrying Jiang Jinyu’s calculator, Xia Yuqing entered her own apartment, and her smile disappeared in an instant. She took a deep breath, looking at this familiar room, but feeling an unusual sense of strangeness and loneliness.

In the following days, Xia Yuqing seemed to revert to her state four months ago, spending her days at home watching movies and reading steamy novels, posting on forums, as if nothing had changed. But somehow, things seemed different.

One night, Xia Yuqing suddenly woke up from a nightmare, drenched in sweat, as if she had just been pulled out of water. Scenes from the dream kept replaying in her mind.

She sat quietly on the bed for a while before reaching for her phone on the bedside table and messaging a certain person on QQ.

After the rain every day clear and bright: Little Yu, are you there?

Wooden fish: Yeah, what’s up? Why are you looking for me so late? Don’t tell me you want… I warn you, not repaying debts is against the law!

After the rain every day clear and bright: …

Wooden fish: What’s going on?

After the rain every day clear and bright: Do you believe in things like time travel in this world?

Wooden fish: …Second Qing, did you get struck by lightning and damaged your brain? How can there be so many strange and supernatural things in this world? Be good, you’ve just recovered from a serious illness. Don’t daydream at this late hour. Go to bed; come to my place tomorrow, and I’ll cook something delicious for you.

After the rain every day clear and bright: …Okay.

Xia Yuqing threw her phone aside and laid back on the bed, staring blankly at the ceiling.

“A dream, huh?”

Was everything she experienced in those four years just a dream? Were all the people she met just part of a dream? How could that be possible!

Xia Yuqing bit her lip suddenly, clutching the bedsheet and curling up into a ball, letting tears fall from her eyes, wetting the pillow. Those people and those experiences were vivid in her mind. How could they be just a dream?

The empty room that had never felt like anything before suddenly felt large, empty, and cold to Xia Yuqing.

Every night when she fell asleep, there was no longer the person who would embrace her; every morning when she woke up, she wouldn’t see that person lying beside her, smiling gently while looking at her with tender eyes; every mealtime, there was no one to sit beside her, pampering her and occasionally picking food for her. Every day…

One by one, every detail kept flashing before her eyes, making her heart ache.

At this moment, Xia Yuqing could no longer deceive herself. It wasn’t a dream; everything was real and existed. And now… she missed him, missed him very much, to the point where her heart ached.

“Feng… Tingye, wu…” In the silent midnight, within the pitch-black room, the young girl laid on the bed, curling up into a ball, sobbing softly, tears falling onto the pillow one by one.

“Feng Tingye, I miss you. I miss you so much, but… I can’t see you again, I can’t… see you again…”

Crying the whole night, the next morning Xia Yuqing walked into Jiang Jinyu’s house with two big bags under her eyes.

Jiang Jinyu happened to be in the kitchen cooking, and upon hearing Xia Yuqing’s entry, she shouted, “Second Qing, entertain Qian Duoduo for a while; it’ll be ready soon.”

“Okay.” Xia Yuqing answered, picked up the spotted dog sharpening its claws beside the sofa, and played with it. “Qian Duoduo.”

While calling the dog, Xia Yuqing muttered, thinking that Jiang Jinyu had gone crazy, naming a dog so tacky as Qian Duoduo*.
* lots of money

Perhaps because Xia Yuqing had been away for too long, Qian Duoduo wasn’t particularly friendly towards her. It played half-heartedly with her for a while and then went straight into its doghouse, refusing to come out no matter how much Xia Yuqing coaxed.

Xia Yuqing sighed lightly and secretly thought, “My Xiao Bai is cuter after all.”

Feeling down, she suddenly heard a loud doorbell from outside.

“Little Yu, someone’s here.” Xia Yuqing shouted towards the kitchen, and soon Jiang Jinyu responded, “I can’t free my hands now, could you please open it?”

“Okay.” Xia Yuqing nodded and reluctantly got up to open the door for the visitor.

As soon as the door opened, Xia Yuqing saw an elderly man with white hair excitedly shouting, “Little Yu, my rice has just run out. You’re so respectful to the elderly and kind-hearted, you won’t let me starve at this time, right?”

“…Grandpa, Little Yu is inside.”

“…”

The two stood at the door, staring at each other for a while. The old man seemed to discover something, squinting his eyes suddenly, and quickly reached into his pocket.

The next second, Xia Yuqing felt something stick to her forehead. At the same time, she heard the old man’s low roar, “Evil spirit, I’ll finish you.”

“…”

A series of clattering sounds came from outside, scaring Jiang Jinyu, who was in the kitchen, to turn off the stove and rush out. Seeing the scene at the door, she froze in shock.

“Hey, hey, Little Yu, I’m an old man, how could you be so rough? My head almost got smashed.” The old man sat on the nearby sofa, clutching his head, yelling and screaming. Meanwhile, Xia Yuqing, holding a soft pillow, looked calm and composed as she watched him make a scene, saying nothing.

“Who told you to mess around with these messy things? You actually went and stuck talismans on my friend’s head! Are you trying to go crazy catching ghosts or something?” Jiang Jinyu glared fiercely at the old man, then turned to Xia Yuqing and asked, “Are you okay?”

Xia Yuqing shook her head, but the old man, who was relentless, continued, “Jinyu, I’m not lying to you. That girl really has an unusual aura.”

“You say one more word, and I’ll knock out your fake teeth!” Jiang Jinyu threatened.

“Ah, don’t…” The old man hurriedly raised his hands to protect his face, but when he looked up and saw Xia Yuqing’s eyes, he froze again. “Wait… wait a minute!”

The old man exclaimed, and while Jiang Jinyu was distracted by his shout, he quickly rushed to Xia Yuqing’s side, adjusted his old reading glasses, and examined Xia Yuqing up and down for a while.

Xia Yuqing felt a bit unnerved by his scrutiny and unconsciously moved backward.

“How strange, how strange! It’s a living soul, not a dead soul! But what’s with this disharmonious feeling?” The old man circled around Xia Yuqing several times, muttering to himself.

Before he could figure it out, Jiang Jinyu, who had snapped out of it, slapped him across the face.

“Ah, Jinyu, please don’t…” After all, he was an old man. Xia Yuqing couldn’t help feeling sorry for him as she looked at the old man who couldn’t lift his head after being hit.

Just as the chaos continued inside the house, there was a click, and the front door of Jiang Jinyu’s house was opened again.

Everyone inside turned their heads at the sound, and they saw a person walking in from outside. The person took in the scene inside and smiled awkwardly, saying, “I rang the doorbell several times, but no one answered, and the door was unlocked, so I just came in.”

“Xiao Qing!” Xia Yuqing rushed towards the graceful and elegant girl who had just entered.

Ye Chuqing quickly reached out to support her and looked at Xia Yuqing, who was bouncing around, with a gentle smile. “Have you fully recovered? I brought some pork stomach and lotus seed soup. It’s perfect for your recovery.”

As Ye Chuqing’s words fell, the old man who had been sitting with his head in his hands suddenly exclaimed, staring wide-eyed at Xia Yuqing and Ye Chuqing. His eyes were full of surprise. “So that’s it, so that’s it!”

“?”

Before anyone could react, the old man had already rushed out the door, leaving behind a group of puzzled people looking at each other.

They thought the matter was over, but a few minutes later, the old man returned with a compass in his hand.

And so, the dinner table that was originally prepared with delicious food turned into a serious confrontation between two sides.

In the center of the empty table, the small compass was spinning rapidly, accompanied by the old man’s mumbling.

“So, you’re saying that Xiao Qing was cursed because her soul was cursed, and the lightning that struck Second Qing’s place more than four months ago was actually meant for Xiao Qing to send her soul back to her past life to fulfill an unfinished wish. But it accidentally hit Second Qing’s place instead?” Jiang Jinyu looked incredulously at the self-proclaimed expert on the opposite side, twitching the corners of her mouth as she asked.

The old man pretended to be profound and stroked his beard, looking proud as he said, “Exactly, because they happened to live in the same unit building, their windows were facing each other. Moreover, their names have one common character, and it seems that Miss Xia’s name is relatively… So…”

“…” So, this is a tragedy caused by a mix-up of names? Mom and Dad, come back, I need to have a serious talk with you! Also… dang it, after all this trouble in ancient times, it turns out to be a misunderstanding! My heart is so tired, I don’t think I’ll ever love again!

With a loud bang, while Xia Yuqing and the others were still surprised by the old man’s words, Jiang Jinyu suddenly slammed the table. “Do you think we will believe your words, you old quack? Get out of here, don’t think you can come to my house and eat for free anymore.”

“No, no, don’t! What I said is true. Miss Xia here knows better than anyone else, Miss Xia!” The old man saw Jiang Jinyu turning hostile and quickly looked at Xia Yuqing, begging her for help.

“Little Yu, wait a moment.” Xia Yuqing snapped out of her daze and stopped the two from continuing.

Jiang Jinyu turned to look at Xia Yuqing in surprise. “Second Qing, you’re not actually believing this old quack’s words, are you?”

Xia Yuqing bit her lip and looked up at Jiang Jinyu. “What he said… is true.”

Xia Yuqing’s words stunned everyone in the room. Seizing the opportunity, the old man quickly freed himself, straightened his clothes, and sat back in his seat, saying smugly, “Humph, you should have listened to the advice of an old man. You only have yourself to blame for this loss!”

Ignoring Jiang Jinyu and the others’ astonishment, Xia Yuqing asked, “If this was an accident, will it affect the people from that era who had contact with me? Will something happen to them?”

The old man pondered for a moment and said, “The butterfly effect, there’s no way it won’t have any impact. But it’s not your fault, so the impact should not be too significant.”

Xia Yuqing let out a sigh of relief, but then she seemed to remember something and asked cautiously, “Then… do I still have a chance to see them again?”

“How is that possible? Time travel is not something you can do just because you want to. A slight mistake can easily cause temporal chaos,” the old man replied.

“Oh.” Xia Yuqing’s hand clenched tightly against her chest, and a hint of disappointment and pain appeared in her eyes. The accidental mistake she made was stolen, so how could she expect too much?

“Second Qing,” Ye Chuqing said worriedly, seeing the almost desperate look on Xia Yuqing’s face.

“Wait! Tsk tsk, strange things happen every year, but there seem to be even more this year. The compass indicates that the absence of an individual in that era caused great chaos. So, in order to maintain stability in that era, someone needs to be sent back. The only question is, which one of you needs to be sent back?” the old man said.

Missing an individual? Could it be… Fourth Royal Brother?

Xia Yuqing looked up abruptly, “Sent back, do you mean… I can go back?”

“You already carry the aura of that era, so in theory, you can. However, if you go this time, you probably won’t be able to return to the present world again, and…” The old man’s gaze shifted to the person beside Xia Yuqing.

Only then did Xia Yuqing realize that if she was mistakenly struck by the lightning, then Ye Chuqing might be the reincarnation of the Xia Yuqing from that era. So, she is the person that Fourth Royal Brother was so devoted to throughout his entire life?!

Thinking this way, Xia Yuqing’s gaze toward Ye Chuqing became a bit guilty, experiencing a complicated mix of emotions like an imposter meeting the genuine article.

Ye Chuqing seemed to have sensed Xia Yuqing’s dilemma and smiled slightly, saying, “Go ahead.”

“Huh?” Xia Yuqing was stunned once again, looking at Ye Chuqing in surprise. “But you…”

“I don’t fully understand what’s going on either. But judging from your expression, there must be someone in that era that you can’t bear to part with. Similarly, there are people and things here that I can’t bear to part with, so… if possible, can you replace me and complete what I couldn’t finish in my past life?” Ye Chuqing’s words made Xia Yuqing’s eyes well up with tears. After a brief silence, she nodded firmly.

“Hey, hey, don’t ignore me! Seriously, you guys actually believe this old quack’s words? This is ridiculous!” Jiang Jinyu couldn’t bear watching the two of them engrossed in conversation with the old man and couldn’t help but express her disbelief.

Before the old man could say anything, Xia Yuqing turned her head to look at Jiang Jinyu, her expression serious as she said, “Little Yu, it’s true. I know it.”

“…” Jiang Jinyu looked at Xia Yuqing’s determined eyes and couldn’t find the words she wanted to say. She let out a soft sigh and fell silent.

Three days later, on a dark night, Xia Yuqing stood in front of a pitch-black ancient well with a large bundle on her back.

“Are you sure that jumping down from here will take you back to the era you wanted to go to, and not turn you into a deep well water ghost?” Jiang Jinyu and the others stood beside the dark well, peeking inside and whispered.

“Hmph, not listening to the advice of an old man will lead to losses. You’ll see.” The old man snorted coldly, deciding to ignore these ignorant mortals who didn’t trust him.

“Second Qing, have you thought it through? There’s no turning back once you jump.” Jiang Jinyu still didn’t believe the old man’s words and turned to Xia Yuqing, hoping she would change her mind, but…

“Yes, I want to go.”

“…”

“If you have the chance to see my parents in the future, tell them to treat it like they never had a daughter like me.”

“…”

“Little Yu, take good care of yourself in the future. Don’t stay up all night reading novels; you’ll easily face retribution. And also, blah blah blah…”

Seeing that Xia Yuqing was about to start another long lecture, Jiang Jinyu’s face darkened. Unable to bear it any longer, she kicked Xia Yuqing’s butt, sending her directly into the well.

Everyone heard a loud scream, and Jiang Jinyu silently withdrew her foot, coldly muttering, “Hmph, still being so long-winded when she’s about to leave. What a waste of my emotions! I knew I shouldn’t have saved her back then. After saving her, I should have just turned and run. It’s a waste of money and time.”

Muttering to herself, Jiang Jinyu turned back to leave but suddenly seemed to remember something. She quickly turned around and shouted loudly into the well, “You jerk, Xia Yuqing, you haven’t paid me back for your medical expenses yet! If you’re leaving, at least settle your debts first! Get back here!”

Ye Chuqing and the old man: “…”

One year later, at the Imperial Palace of the Ye Country, the scenery remained the same, but the people had changed.

Around noon, several young palace maids carrying various sumptuous dishes walked into a courtyard, muttering as they walked.

“The emperor’s mood doesn’t seem to be good today, so be careful.”

“His mood is bad? Why?”

“It’s those old officials from the previous dynasty again. They said that the throne shouldn’t be vacant, so they want the emperor to take another empress.”

“Sigh, ever since Empress passed away a year ago, the emperor’s temperament has become more and more unpredictable.”

“Alright, let’s stop talking about it. If anyone overhears us, it’s off with our heads. Be careful later.”

As the maids were discussing, they suddenly heard a loud noise coming from the nearby lotus pond. They all stopped in their tracks and looked at the pond, their eyes widening in shock. After seeing what was in the pond, they couldn’t help but scream loudly, “Assa… assassin, there’s an assassin!”

Xia Yuqing, clutching her sore buttocks, sat up from the lotus pond. “Ow, it hurts! Really, if I have to land somewhere, can it at least be a better place? I’m all wet now. But… where is this?”

Xia Yuqing turned her head and looked around. After seeing the several palace maids in front of her, her eyes brightened. She had really come back!

Before Xia Yuqing could be happy, she heard screams from the side. Then, the Imperial Guards rushed toward her.

Xia Yuqing hurriedly stepped back, paying no attention to anything else, and shouted at the top of her lungs, “Ultra Seme Lord, if you dare to climb the wall while I’m not here, I’ll take the two children and run away from home!”

In the study room, Feng Tingye, who had a calm expression, heard this shout. His movements trembled, his eyes widened, and he raised his head with an incredulous expression.

Feng Tingye rushed to the edge of the pond and saw a group of Imperial Guards surrounding a strange woman dressed in unusual attire, completely drenched.

When Xia Yuqing saw Feng Tingye coming out, her face instantly showed excitement, but it was followed by endless anxiety and unease. Would he still recognize her in her current appearance?

Feng Tingye was momentarily stunned when he saw Xia Yuqing, but then his eyes lit up with a dazzling brilliance that was almost blinding.

The Imperial Guards and palace maids all knelt down on the ground upon seeing Feng Tingye, not daring to move.

Feng Tingye paid no attention to them. He stepped into the pond filled with lotus flowers and walked step by step towards Xia Yuqing. He stopped one step away from her, reached out, and caressed Xia Yuqing’s cheek. He scolded with a smile, “You dare to run away! If you do it again, I’ll break your legs and see where you can escape this time!”

Xia Yuqing trembled all over, and tears welled up in her eyes as she looked at Feng Tingye’s familiar and gentle eyes. She choked, “I’m back.”

Feng Tingye embraced her tightly and chuckled, “Mmm, welcome back.”
