Chapter 119: Extra 3
—In the end, Bai Chunsheng didn’t dream of Bai Jianghan tearing off dragon skin.
He awoke in his dream, scrambling in a panic.
Dawn had already broken on the horizon. Bai Chunsheng had slept for a long time, and Yan Jingqiu was nowhere to be seen.
A few days ago, a block of ten-thousand-year-old cold ice had been unearthed from the Cold Abyss.
Yan Jingqiu had said he would forge a new sword for Bai Chunsheng. By now, he had gone to the Refining Hall in Fengqiu Palace of the Ten Thousand Demon Sect to polish the ice block into shape.
With nothing else to do, Bai Chunsheng felt still a little shaken from the disturbing dream. He wondered if he should take some joss paper to the Yan family gate to burn for safety. After all, everyone said Bai Jianghan had undergone her lightning tribulation near the Yan residence.
He lay back on the bed. As a demonic beast, his recovery was fast, and as a barely Dao-stage great demon, much of last night’s fatigue had already faded.
Thinking it over, Bai Chunsheng realized the dream had been rather strange.
They said that when cultivation reached a certain stage, one’s spirit becomes sensitive and can perceive omens. Was this dream trying to tell him something? Thinking this, he pulled the blanket over himself and turned to face a different direction.
Getting out of bed, he made his way toward the Refining Hall.
Inside, the forge blazed, and a rough sword embryo floated in the heat. Yan Jingqiu sat nearby, dressed in red robes embroidered with a pattern of white plum blossoms.
Yan Jingqiu looked up: “Why are you up so early today? I thought you’d sleep for several days. I was just thinking that when you wake, I could return the newly reforged Jinghong Sword to you.”
Bai Chunsheng found a straw mat to sit on. At first, he planned to sit beside Yan Jingqiu, but after thinking for a moment, his cheeks flushed pink, long eyelashes fluttering nervously.
He looked around, and seeing no one nearby, he moved into Yan Jingqiu’s embrace.
He used the same words as before: “I had a nightmare.”
He remembered the first time he went to the Wutong Tree Sea, wondering how he would explain to Bai Jianghan if she knew he was entangled with Yan Jingqiu, and how he could beg for forgiveness.
Even in a dream, Bai Jianghan had been difficult to deal with. She would never believe Bai Chunsheng’s excuses. She trusted only what she saw, itching to beat him, and afterward, punish Yan Jingqiu as well.
Yan Jingqiu’s long, slender, well-boned fingers traced down Bai Chunsheng’s spine: “What kind of nightmare?”
Bai Chunsheng felt ticklish and squirmed: “Stop touching me. You keep touching me, and I can’t even talk to you properly. I’m really scared.”
Yan Jingqiu didn’t sense any fear in Bai Chunsheng’s words; he found his coyness adorable. He stopped moving his hands and gently held Bai Chunsheng’s waist instead, his voice growing deeper: “Alright, tell me first.”
Bai Chunsheng said, “I dreamed about my grandma last night.”
“Though it was a bit frightening,” he added wistfully, “I missed her.”
Yan Jingqiu paused. Bai Jianghan had never liked him and had often confronted him directly.
During his amnesia, Bo Yan didn’t know the truth about Bai Chunsheng’s past engagement to Shen Yuying. Now, Yan Jingqiu knew it all clearly. On the day he returned the unconscious Bai Chunsheng to the Ten Thousand Demon Sect, Bai Jianghan had caught sight of him. She had immediately seen the feelings he held for Bai Chunsheng, and said, “Yan Jingqiu, I’ve heard of your deeds from all over. Many say you’ve surpassed the old Yan Jianhang. Indeed, I can see that. But you’re still unmarried?”
Bai Jianghan smiled, but her words were blunt: “Why not go find your beloved? What are you doing with my boy? Don’t let Yan Jianhang worry. He’s heartless and alone; you don’t want to share the same fate.”
Yan Jingqiu nodded and was about to turn away, when Bai Jianghan laughed coldly: “Don’t come to the Ten Thousand Demon Sect again. You won’t find an obedient, beautiful girl here.”
Yan Jingqiu neither agreed nor disagreed, but Bai Jianghan knew he had heard her.
It had been a long time ago. Yan Jingqiu asked, “Do we need to tell Bai Jianghan about us being together?”
Bai Chunsheng’s expression changed; if his grandma really knew he was involved with Yan Jingqiu, she’d pull out all his feathers.
“Forget it,” Bai Chunsheng said. “She doesn’t like the Yan family. If she finds out, I’m doomed. Maybe… in a few days.”
Yan Jingqiu was about to nod slightly when Bai Chunsheng suddenly realized something.
He remembered yesterday’s dream, where Bai Jianghan had angrily scolded Yan Jingqiu as an audacious scoundrel while calling him hopelessly foolish: “Yan Jingqiu, Yan Jingqiu has already recovered his memory. He’s tricking you… tricking you into giving him…! Sigh, my whole life’s reputation, and yet, Miaoyan isn’t even as foolish as you!”
Bai Chunsheng looked at Yan Jingqiu suspiciously: “Why haven’t you scolded Yan Jingqiu for a long time? Just now I mentioned the Yan family, and you even responded.”
Yan Jingqiu: “……”
His silence was perfectly timed.
Bai Chunsheng widened his eyes: “Last night you even used that as an excuse to get jealous and tease me!”
