My Corpse is Bohemian Chapter 127

Chapter 127: Mountain Lake Town

To better experience the road trip, Jian Ningxuan ordered a V5 camper. The body of the car was white, but An Bu felt it lacked a bit of dominance, so she painted a pet cat on each side of the car. On the right was a graceful Siamese cat, and on the left was a sturdy and cute orange cat, their large bodies dominating the entire car, making them particularly eye-catching.

An Bu pointed to the Siamese cat, “Mr. Jian, you used to be like this in my eyes.” Then she pointed to the orange cat, “Now you’re like this.”

Jian Ningxuan: “…”

The two packed their luggage, got into the V5 camper, and officially began their journey.

What An Bu envisioned as a road trip was chasing the sunset every day, squandering their brilliant youth, being free and unrestrained. However, as they left the city and entered the suburbs, An Bu noticed a trace of deathly aura in the wilderness by the roadside. Where there was deathly aura, there must be buried corpses. Since there were no tombstones, it meant that the bodies were abandoned in the wild, and it was very likely that they were victims of unsolved cases.

Although An Bu only saved lives, she didn’t want to see deathly aura lingering outside. So she asked Jian Ningxuan for help, anonymously sending the coordinates to the local police before continuing on their journey.

The scenery along the way was beautiful, with rolling mountains, vibrant fields, roads leading to the horizon, and the lingering souls that couldn’t return home.

However, within a hundred kilometers, An Bu encountered three unnamed corpses abandoned by someone.

It had to be said that the sparsely populated wilderness, vast territory, and deep forests were good places to bury bodies. Under such beautiful landscapes, how many unknown crimes were hidden? This question was too much of a test of human nature. As a corpse, An Bu didn’t need to consider these things. As long as she found a dead body, she would report it and let the police handle it.

Each time An Bu passed by, the local police would receive one or two murder cases. By the time she and Jian Ningxuan finished their road trip, they estimated that dozens of old and new unsolved cases would be unearthed, and they would find dozens of missing persons.

What surprised An Bu somewhat was that after several reports, she unexpectedly received Vitality Points ranging from 10 to 100. Logically, only saving lives could earn life points, but helping the dead seek justice wasn’t included, unless the police caught a serial killer thanks to the clues, preventing more people from being harmed.

If she gained more than 100 vitality points, it was very likely because she helped the police catch a serial killer.

An Bu didn’t expect to gain such rewards from this road trip. She suddenly felt that there was life everywhere in the world. Her beautiful road trip had unexpectedly turned into a journey of searching for corpses.

After several days of travel, the two arrived at the mountain lake town. After parking the car, they entered a quaint restaurant and chose a table on the second floor by the railing. They ordered the local specialty dishes.

An Bu took out her phone and snapped pictures of the scenery and delicious food, saving them in her album.

In the restaurant, there were both locals and foreigners, and occasionally vendors came by to sell goods.

At this moment, the conversation from the next table suddenly caught An Bu’s attention.

“There’s nothing particularly fun in the mountain lake town, but there’s a hostel in the back mountains that’s famous for being haunted. Accommodation is free, but you have to bring your own food. I don’t know if you guys are interested in experiencing it?” A man around forty, with dark skin, suggested to his foreign companions.

“A haunted hostel? I’ve never stayed in a haunted hostel before. It seems interesting,” the blonde man turned to his three companions and said, “What about you guys, want to give it a try?”

“Of course, we’re traveling to have fun,” the red-haired girl said excitedly.

The other two didn’t object either. They were all atheists, brave and adventurous, willing to try anything.

While they were talking, An Bu was already searching for information about the hostel in the mountain lake town on her phone.

The hostel was indeed quite famous, but not for anything good. Almost every piece of information was related to a loss of life. Over the past fifty years, three or four dozen people had died mysteriously there. Some were killed by their crazed companions, some were scared to death, and some committed suicide. Because it was too eerie, some people suggested tearing down the hostel, but for some reason, it was never done. Instead, it was abandoned and no longer open to the public.

As time passed, fewer people mentioned the rumors about that inn, and most had forgotten about its existence.

An Bu glanced at the five people sitting at the neighboring table. The man who had suggested going to the haunted house should be the tour guide, while the other four were from Country M, two men and two women, all in their twenties or thirties, with outstanding looks and healthy skin, likely young people who loved sports.

However, two of them exuded a strong aura of death, probably not going to see the sun tomorrow.

An Bu had noticed them when they entered the restaurant earlier, but didn’t know the cause of their deaths until she heard the tour guide propose going to the haunted house for some suicidal adventure.

“Mr. Jian, shall we also go explore the haunted house?” If it were an unpredictable dangerous place, An Bu wouldn’t feel comfortable letting her cat master near it. But in a haunted house, her cat master would be the least afraid. With her lively cat master around, An Bu wouldn’t worry about absorbing too much death energy.

“Hmm.” Jian Ningxuan responded noncommittally.

After dinner, they each took a backpack and followed the group towards the back mountain.

Not long after they set off, the five people ahead noticed them and greeted them proactively, “Hey, are you also going to explore the haunted house?”

An Bu smiled and replied, “Yes.”

The four foreigners were quite friendly, chatting with them amiably, but the tour guide seemed reluctant and muttered in the local dialect, “I finally found this haunted house, what are you two foreigners doing here? Did you pay?”

An Bu glanced at him: Do you know how to write the word “death”? I’ll burn some paper money for you later.

After about thirty minutes of walking, they could vaguely see an old building halfway up the mountain, nestled among lush trees and rugged rocks. Under the setting sun, it exuded a serene beauty, yet to An Bu’s colorblind eyes, it was a sinister ghost house, shrouded in deathly aura, glaringly displaying the four words: “Here lies a ghost.”

A surge of death energy gushed out from below the building, like rolling dark clouds. An Bu suspected that there might be a mass grave underground; otherwise, such a vast amount of death energy wouldn’t be present. Though not as dangerous as an ancient tomb, it was enough to affect the mental state of ordinary people.

“Oh, it’s so dirty here.” The girl named Chris covered her nose and exclaimed.

The tour guide, Qian Zhi, smiled, “We brought tents, so we can sleep in them later. The scenery here is beautiful, and we can go to the mountaintop to see the sunrise tomorrow.”

Chris was not a spoiled person either. After adapting, she stopped complaining. She started building tents outside the small building with her companions.

Qian Zhi suggested that they light candles in the small building at night, play games, and experience that kind of eerie atmosphere. When tired, they could return to the tents to rest.

Before sunset, An Bu led Jian Ningxuan around the haunted house, and all the death energy was blocked several meters away. She let go of Jian Ningxuan’s hand and walked alone about five meters away. The death energy immediately rushed towards her as if stimulated by an excitant. She immediately retreated to Cat Master’s side, and the world instantly became peaceful.

“Mr. Jian.”

“Yeah?”

“You must be a bright type of nursing cat.”

“…”
