Chapter 64: The Return of Gu An

An Bu had actually forgotten most of what happened over twenty years ago. However, because she retained New Start’s shares, she still occasionally paid attention to its situation, mostly through the lawyer and the news. Among the original founders, the only one she still had an impression of was the one who had just passed away.
Fu Haiya, one of the seven founders of New Start, born in 2122, passed away in 2176 at the age of 54. Considering the average lifespan of modern people, he died too early, but he was the oldest among the seven founders, except for An Bu.
An Bu took out the album diary belonging to New Start from the safe and began to search for those forgotten memories.
In 2151, An Bu, under the identity of “Gu An,” came to Taijing City and coincidentally met Yang Cheng, Yang Liu, and Yang Yong from Yangjia Village. Coincidentally, this village happened to be the one that Gu An had previously supported under a different identity. The reason for supporting them was not poverty but pollution. A chemical factory built near Yangjia Village caused severe pollution, resulting in 40% of the villagers suffering from cancer, including the children Yang Cheng, Yang Liu, and Yang Yong at that time.
Although the factory was later exposed and investigated, the harm it caused was irreparable. An Bu funded the villagers to rebuild their homes and supported the children in the village to go to school. Out of over thirty children, seven went on to college, with Yang Cheng, Yang Liu, and Yang Yong achieving the best results.
They all chose majors in electronic technology. Later, they met like-minded Fu Haiya, Tian Bin, and Luo Tiancai. The group of people wanted to start their own business, but each was extremely poor, without fame or connections. Even ensuring basic needs was a challenge. In their struggling moments, they were luckily picked up by the wealthy Gu An, who had just changed her identity.
Gu An provided the money while they were responsible for development. The group of them, including Luo Tiancai with the highest technical skills, established New Start Technology Co., Ltd. Among them, Luo Tiancai had the highest technical skills, but the trio from Yangjia Village were the most diligent because they knew they didn’t have a long life expectancy. To avoid regrets, they almost spent all their time and energy on research.
Their efforts paid off. Five years after the establishment of New Start, they accumulated enough strength to soar to new heights. The company expanded, absorbing more technical and managerial talents until it went public. Gu An began to step back into the shadows, only handling finances and collecting money, periodically checking the company’s accounts. All other affairs were left to the high-level executives of the board of directors.
Although Fu Haiya’s technology was not as good as Luo Tiancai’s, he had a talent for management. At that time, the management team was united, dedicated, and under everyone’s efforts, New Start gradually reached its peak.
In 2160, Gu An felt that she could retire after achieving success, so she changed his identity, left Taijing City, but because the shares were still in her hands, she did not let “Gu An” die completely. However, shortly after she left, the original founders encountered trouble. The trio from Yangjia Village died of cancer one after another, Tian Bin died in a traffic accident, and Luo Tiancai suffered from depression, ending his own life. Only Fu Haiya, who had left a disease root due to overwork in his early years, passed away at the age of 52.
When the trio from Yangjia Village passed away, An Bu once again used the identity of “Gu An” to stabilize the company and set it on the right track before retreating again. She did not change her identity this time, until twelve years ago, when she came to this city as “An Bu.”
“Gu An” was one of An Bu’s identities with a longer retention period. Now that Fu Haiya had also passed away, she felt it was time to deal with New Start’s shares and put an end to this past.
Locking the album diary back into the wall safe, An Bu found Jian Ningxuan and said, “Mr. Jian, an old friend of mine has passed away. I’ll be attending his funeral tomorrow.”
“I’ll accompany you.” Jian Ningxuan was genuinely worried about An Bu going out alone.
“Mr. Jian, can you let me go alone?” An Bu looked at him earnestly.
Jian Ningxuan frowned, both on his face and in his heart, with a refusal.
“It’s just for two days.” An Bu raised her hand. “I promise not to do anything dangerous.”
After considering for a moment, Jian Ningxuan said, “Take a bodyguard with you.”
An Bu knew this was his biggest concession, so she didn’t continue to negotiate or bargain, just gave him a pat on the chest. “Thank you.”
An Bu booked a flight for that night, and then, under Jian Ningxuan’s worried gaze, flew to Taijing City.
Upon landing, the first thing she did was to report her safety to her cat master, sending a heart emoji.
After checking into the hotel, An Bu sat in front of the mirror, staring at her face for a long time. According to the timeline, Gu An is now 42 years old. After putting on some makeup, she would look like a well-maintained mature woman.
An Bu had no intention of meeting with the current high-level executives of New Start. After attending the funeral, she planned to consult with a lawyer about selling the shares.
With her plan set, An Bu left the hotel.
