An Bu patted Jian Ningxuan, “Mr. Jian, let me take a bath first.”
Jian Ningxuan released An Bu and held her hand as they walked into the room. He took out fresh clothes, then together they entered the bathroom, starting to undress casually.
This seemed like the rhythm for bathing together!
An Bu wasn’t being coy, discreetly hiding the pacemaker, and then stripped off her clothes. Like a hungry tiger, she pounced…
After a refreshing shower, the two cuddled up together, and the room was quiet. An Bu played with Jian Ningxuan’s fingers, savoring memories related to him. After a while, she leaned against his shoulder and slowly closed her eyes.
While she closed her eyes, Jian Ningxuan opened his eyes, gazing fondly at her until dawn.
An Bu had noticed that her house cat master behaved strangely. Since they met, he hadn’t uttered a word. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to speak; he couldn’t produce any sound.
So, the next day, An Bu brought him to the First People’s Hospital—the hospital where Fangcun worked—for an examination.
“Temporary aphasia?” An Bu looked at the attending doctor in surprise.
The doctor nodded, “Yes, Mr. Jian might have experienced some shock before, causing an abnormality in his language function. But don’t worry; it’s only temporary. Go out for a walk, relax, relieve stress, and believe it will recover soon.”
“Okay, I understand. Thank you, doctor.”
An Bu held Jian Ningxuan as they left the consultation room, her head bowed in silence.
A large hand gently rested on her head, offering comfort.
“Sorry,” An Bu mumbled. For so many years, no matter how severe the injuries or how many times she experienced “death,” she was used to dealing with everything herself. Learning to depend on someone would make her unable to bear loneliness again. But now, she met someone she wanted to rely on, yet she always made him sad and worried.
Jian Ningxuan bent down to touch her face lightly, and his gaze was as tender as water: No need to apologize. As long as you’re okay, I’m happy.
“Mr. Jian!” An Bu hugged his waist, “I will definitely become a qualified poop scooper, not letting you worry about me!”
Jian Ningxuan’s eyebrows and eyes stretched, a bright color flashing in his eyes: Okay, I’ll be waiting.
“Ningxuan.” At this moment, a few people approached quickly. At the forefront was Ge Tingting’s brother, Ge Sirui, followed closely by Ge Tingting, and a few other police officers including Sun Kaiwen.
They were surprised to see An Bu. They didn’t expect her to be alive.
Officer Sun wiped a cold sweat silently. If they had really dissected her as a dead person yesterday, the guilt would have been enormous.
Before coming to the hospital, Jian Ningxuan sent a text message to Officer Sun, but he didn’t inform the Ge siblings. He wondered how they received the news.
“Miss An, it’s so good that you’re okay.” Ge Sirui sighed with relief, smiling at An Bu.
Jian Ningxuan frowned, protecting An Bu in his arms, expressing his rejection through body language. He hadn’t forgotten the danger An Bu faced this time, all because of Ge Tingting’s recklessness. Just seeing them reminded him of the pain and fear as if he had lost everything. He couldn’t easily let go of those feelings.
An Bu looked at them and suddenly asked, “Who are you?”
She genuinely didn’t remember, and she didn’t intentionally conceal her forgetfulness. For someone who faked her death for a few hours, having a bit of amnesia seemed plausible.
Jian Ningxuan looked at An Bu in his arms, uncertain if her amnesia was real or fake.
Ge Sirui hesitated for a moment and reintroduced himself, “We’ve only met once. It’s normal if you don’t remember. I’m Ge Sirui, Tingting’s brother.”
“Ge Tingting?” An Bu looked at the girl beside him, puzzled. “Who is Ge Tingting? Have we met before?”
Ge Tingting stared at her, bewildered, not knowing how to respond.
At this moment, Officer Sun stepped forward and asked, “Miss An, do you remember me?”
An Bu carefully looked at him and then suddenly realized, “I remember now. You’re the police officer I met at the murder scene when I was delivering takeout.”
That was hundreds of years ago…
Officer Sun then pointed at Jian Ningxuan, “And him? Do you remember him?”
An Bu lazily leaned against Jian Ningxuan’s chest, “Of course, I remember.”
“How much do you remember?” Officer Sun asked, “When did you two meet, and for how long?”
“We’ve known each other for more than a year.” An Bu answered without hesitation, “Kerris Restaurant, banquet, amusement park…” She listed the places they had met, and each memory was so colorful.
Jian Ningxuan’s gaze was gentle; she had forgotten everyone else, remembering only him clearly.
“Alright, alright.” Officer Sun kicked over the dog food bowl without hesitation, then looked at Jian Ningxuan. “Has An Bu undergone a medical examination?”
Jian Ningxuan shook his head and handed him a file from the bag. It was the medical examination report An Bu had given him, proving that she had indeed faked her death, and currently, all her vital signs were normal. Only her memory had not been tested yet.
“That doctor really misdiagnosed her.” Officer Sun said indignantly. “If he can’t even tell whether a person is alive or dead, what kind of doctor is he?”
An Bu silently lit a candle for that doctor; he was likely to bear the blame.
“An Bu, do you want to sue that hospital and that doctor?” Officer Sun asked, “I can help you file a case.”
“No need.” An Bu declined. “My constitution is somewhat special. I’ve been misdiagnosed before due to faking death, so I can’t entirely blame him.”
Officer Sun: There’s actually such a magically unique faking-death constitution? It’s truly an eye-opener. If An Bu suddenly loses vital signs again in the future, don’t rush to mourn; she might be happily faking her death.
“Ningxuan…” Ge Sirui looked at Jian Ningxuan hesitantly, wanting to apologize on behalf of Ge Tingting. However, Jian Ningxuan didn’t even glance at him, leading An Bu to the registration counter.
Officer Sun didn’t stay long either, bidding farewell to everyone before leaving. An Bu didn’t remember Ge Tingting, so naturally, she couldn’t recall what had happened that day.
Ge Sirui patted Ge Tingting’s shoulder and comforted her, “It’s better not to disturb them for now. There will be a chance to make amends in the future. Ningxuan is not one to hold grudges; I believe he will forgive you.”
Ge Tingting wasn’t as optimistic. For anything else, her cousin might not care, but when it came to An Bu, there might be lingering resentment for a lifetime. If the Jian family and the Ge family became estranged because of this, her guilt would be even greater. The only consolation was that An Bu was still alive, and irreversible damage had been avoided.
“Brother, I want to change jobs and never do supernatural programs again…”
After a series of tests, An Bu was diagnosed by the doctor with selective amnesia. Due to certain traumatic events or psychological factors, she had forgotten memories from a certain period. Whether she could recall them was uncertain, but it didn’t significantly affect her daily life.
After a busy morning, the two left the hospital. An Bu suddenly chuckled.
Jian Ningxuan threw her an inquiring look.
An Bu smiled, “Mr. Jian, you have temporary aphasia, and I have selective amnesia. We’re both dealing with illnesses. Doesn’t it feel a little romantic?”
Jian Ningxuan’s face darkened; he didn’t feel any romance at all!
“It seems so.” An Bu hooked her arm around his. “I haven’t forgotten you.”
A few simple words filled Jian Ningxuan’s heart with a touch of bittersweet warmth.
He moved his lips, silently calling out her name.
“I heard that. You’re calling me ‘my dear Bu Bu,'” An Bu smiled at him with narrowed eyes. “Mr. Jian, don’t think that I don’t know what you want to say just because you’re not speaking. Let me tell you, I have telepathy.”
A hint of amusement flashed in Jian Ningxuan’s eyes.
“Hehe, you’re currently saying, ‘Bu Bu is really amazing,'” An Bu held him, spiritedly saying, “Let’s go, amazing Bu Bu will make a big meal for you when we get back!”
Jian Ningxuan curved his lips: Okay.
With Bu Bu by his side, everything was good.
The two returned home, and An Bu tied an apron, delving into the kitchen to showcase her skills.
Jian Ningxuan sat in the living room, silently watching her busy figure.
An hour later, An Bu served the steaming dishes one by one.
Jian Ningxuan approached, and upon looking at the table, his heart was instantly filled with warmth. The dishes on the table were the very ones An Bu had concocted for him before he went abroad.
Her memory might be incomplete, but she still remembered these trivial things.
Jian Ningxuan wrapped his arms around An Bu’s waist, overwhelmed with happiness almost to the point of tears.
“Mr. Jian, am I the best poop scooper in the world?” An Bu looked a bit proud.
Jian Ningxuan: Yes.
“So, you should act cute more often, making your poop scooper unable to stop petting the cat.”
Jian Ningxuan: …I’ll try.
“Don’t just say it; show it in action.”
Jian Ningxuan lowered his head and planted a kiss on her lips, radiating a captivating allure.
An Bu grinned contentedly, her whole face lit up as if illuminated by the aura of the cat lord.
After dinner, the two took a stroll in the garden to aid digestion, followed by a workout session in the adjacent gym. Subsequently, they enjoyed a splashing bath.
At night, An Bu opened her recent schedule and found that she was studying veterinary medicine.
Taking out a veterinary book, she sadly discovered that she had completely forgotten these knowledge. Her assistant veterinary certificate had also been revoked by the Records of Life and Death due to her inadequate professional competence.
She continued flipping through other professional books, luckily remembering most of them, sparing her from reverting to square one.
“It looks like I have to start learning again.” An Bu encouraged herself, opened the book, and began memorizing diligently.
Jian Ningxuan didn’t disturb her, sitting with his computer on the sofa, occasionally glancing at her, attentively preparing drinks and fruits for her.
The two each focused on their own tasks.
30 minutes later, An Bu suddenly stood up, lifted a long leg, and started doing leg presses.
Jian Ningxuan: …
After completing a set of exercises, An Bu sat back at the desk and immersed herself in studying again.
30 minutes later, An Bu stood up again, this time lying on the carpet and starting a yoga routine.
Jian Ningxuan: …
An Bu, in a peculiar posture with her legs over her shoulders, turned her head to catch Jian Ningxuan’s gaze and casually asked, “Mr. Jian, do you want to do some exercises too?”
Jian Ningxuan: He can’t handle exercises that test the limits of the human body…
They only slept together after making love; otherwise, they slept in separate rooms. After the recent accident, Jian Ningxuan didn’t dare to let her out of his sight for a short period. He insisted on sharing the same room, only to discover her unique habit of studying while exercising, a practice that was truly distinctive.
Fortunately, Jian Ningxuan encountered a well-practiced old corpse. In the past, every time she did yoga, she would end up dislocating bones due to the lack of sensation, leading to imprecise control of intensity. Hence, various accidents occurred.
After relaxing her muscles and bones, An Bu finished her study tasks early, cleaned up her desk, flopped onto the bed, and then, holding the blanket, looked at Jian Ningxuan with infinite charm. “Darling, don’t always be in front of the computer. Life is about movement. Don’t you want to do something else?”
Slap! Jian Ningxuan closed the laptop decisively and walked resolutely toward the bed, embodying the profound truth that “life is about movement.”
The next day, An Bu struggled to get out of bed in a zombie-like state. After some activities, her limbs finally regained flexibility.
Jian Ningxuan, who woke up earlier, had already prepared breakfast.
An Bu, bathed in the radiance of the cat lord, enjoyed the lovingly prepared breakfast from Jian Ningxuan.
After eating, An Bu talked about her upcoming plans, “Mr. Jian, I’m thinking of taking on some part-time jobs.”
Jian Ningxuan immediately looked at her warily.
“Don’t worry.” An Bu reassured him. “I’ll try to choose part-time jobs that don’t require going out. If I have to go out, I’ll take you with me.”
She knew that Jian Ningxuan wouldn’t feel at ease letting her go out alone recently, so she consciously limited her activities.
Upon hearing this, the hair on Jian Ningxuan’s body, which had just stood up, settled back into place.
“I thought about it all night yesterday,” An Bu smiled, “and finally came up with a brilliant idea.”
Jian Ningxuan: You were probably tossing and turning in bed for half the night. Where did the “all night” come from?
Ignoring his protesting eyes, An Bu continued, “I plan to livestream cooking.”
Jian Ningxuan: What’s so brilliant about that? There are countless cooking shows online.
“I want to showcase glamorous dark cuisine.” An Bu picked up a carving knife and skillfully turned a kiwi into a pile of wet excrement, holding it up in front of Jian Ningxuan. “Look, doesn’t it have a great texture?”
Jian Ningxuan: …This is how art is ruined.
“My goal is to conquer the dark stomachs with dark cuisine!” An Bu raised the pile of excrement high, full of spirited determination.
Livestreaming food was just her short-term goal. After the cat master recovered his language abilities and trusted her, she would consider part-time jobs outside. It should take about half a month.
An Bu had her plans well thought out.
Jian Ningxuan: I have a feeling that my perfect opportunity to lose weight is coming…
