“Mr. Jian, do you have time in a couple of days? Want to go to Crane South Mountain?” An Bu asked for Jian Ningxuan’s opinion while peeling peanuts.
“Crane?” Jian Ningxuan continued typing on the keyboard and casually asked, “Why, suddenly interested?”
Although he only spoke a few words, An Bu perfectly understood his intended message: Why suddenly want to go to Crane South Mountain? How long?
“A local extreme sports club is organizing a wilderness survival activity for four days and three nights. I want to join,” An Bu explained.
Jian Ningxuan’s fingers paused for a moment, accidentally disconnecting his opponent in the ongoing hacking competition.
“Extreme sports?” Jian Ningxuan gazed at An Bu, and the so-called extreme sports, in other words, blatant risk-taking activities?
An Bu could tell what he was thinking and explained, “It’s just at the amateur level. Participants must be over 16 years old, and the activities are relatively low in difficulty. There are also experienced leaders.”
Jian Ningxuan inquired skeptically, “Are you sure it’s not… dangerous?”
“Absolutely!” An Bu assured confidently, “If you go with me, you can supervise me throughout. If you don’t, then let the bodyguard watch over me.”
Jian Ningxuan closed his laptop, “Equipment checklist.”
“I’ll list it for you right away,” An Bu said with a cheerful smile, raising two “OK” gestures.
Two days later, Jian Ningxuan and An Bu arrived at the assembly point fully equipped.
This activity had a total of 10 participants, 7 males and 3 females, including one leader and one doctor. The rest were ordinary enthusiasts of extreme sports, ranging from 18 to 37 years old.
As soon as the exceptionally handsome and imposing Jian Ningxuan appeared, he immediately attracted everyone’s attention. His aloof demeanor exuded an imposing aura that instantly stole the spotlight from the originally designated leader.
“Alright, everyone is here. Let’s get on the bus, and we’ll do introductions after boarding,” the leader clapped his hands, redirecting everyone’s attention back to him.
They all boarded the bus, found their seats, and headed towards Crane South Mountain.
“Hello, I am the leader for this activity, Zhao Kaihe. You can call me Brother Zhao.” The leader was a robust man around 30 years old, with thick eyebrows and large eyes, sporting a crew cut. He had slightly tanned skin, resembling a retired military man. “The activity will take place in Crane South Mountain. Most participants are amateur enthusiasts with limited experience, so please refrain from attempting dangerous activities without supervision. It’s crucial to engage in activities only when someone is watching.”
Zhao Kaihe emphasized several points to everyone and concluded, “Alright, let’s get to know each other. We’ll be together for the next four days.”
Participants introduced themselves one by one and then enthusiastically began socializing.
Jian Ningxuan sat at the back, immersed in his notebook, emitting an encrypted signal that kept people at a distance.
In contrast, An Bu was sociable, quickly blending in with the group. The young man named Zhong Rui, whom she had met at the mall, was also part of this activity. He was a professional photographer who loved extreme sports and sought inspiration in thrilling experiences.
He has participated in many similar extreme activities, considering himself a semi-veteran.
“An Bu, have you played extreme sports before?” Zhong Rui asked.
“Well, I’ve tried a few,” An Bu replied conservatively.
Jian Ningxuan, upon hearing this, looked at her.
“But,” An Bu added, “I’m not very skilled at them.”
Zhong Rui chuckled, “No worries, this activity is designed for beginners. As long as you’re brave, it’s not difficult.”
An Bu nodded appreciatively, “I’ll rely on you for guidance then.”
“Don’t underestimate yourself,” Zhong Rui glanced at Jian Ningxuan, “You have an expert by your side; you don’t need me to interfere.”
An Bu said, “…” The person by her side was just a layman who had never played extreme sports but looked like an expert….
Five hours later, the bus finally arrived at the destination of the activity – Crane South Mountain.
Crane South Mountain was the only primitive forest in City A. Due to its unique terrain and scenery, it wasn’t suitable for development into a tourist area. With the support of some influential individuals, it became a place for outdoor enthusiasts.
To ensure safety, a signal transmission station was set up on Crane South Mountain, guaranteeing smooth communication for timely rescue in case of danger. This was one reason why Crane South Mountain was suitable for novice adventurers.
Everyone looked excited as they faced the lush mountain forest.
Guided by the leader, they followed the predetermined route, heading deeper into the woods. They expected to reach the campsite in about an hour.
The activities on the first day were simple: finding the campsite, setting up camp, familiarizing themselves with the environment, replenishing energy, and checking equipment.
Upon reaching the campsite, they unexpectedly found another group that had arrived before them. Upon closer inspection, most members of this group were foreigners.
“Haha, didn’t expect to meet foreign friends,” said a short-legged youth nicknamed “Chihuahua.”
His voice caught the attention of the foreign group, who glanced over but went about their business without coming over to greet.
“Alright, let’s set up camp here,” the leader placed his backpack down, designated an area, and began instructing the newcomers to pitch tents. The experienced members started taking action on their own.
An Bu pulled Jian Ningxuan aside, swiftly and skillfully setting up a tent.
Jian Ningxuan also didn’t stand idle, mimicking her movements meticulously without showing any signs of being a novice.
In no time, their tent was set up.
Next, An Bu took Jian Ningxuan to gather some dry branches nearby for cooking.
At this point, An Bu took out the strange plant she had picked from the forest, squeezed it, and applied the purple juice on her face, turning her fair skin into a face adorned with purple stripes. Then, she used a vine to wrap around her forehead, forming a braid, giving her a primitive and tribal appearance.
Jian Ningxuan had a puzzled expression: What is this for?
An Bu wiped her hands, took out her phone from her pocket, and smiled, “My wilderness version of dark cuisine.”
Jian Ningxuan: Even here, you’re thinking about doing a live broadcast?
“Today, there are no other activities. It’s a good time to do a live broadcast,” An Bu entered the live stream and handed the phone to Jian Ningxuan, saying, “You help me record.”
Jian Ningxuan sat aside, pointing the camera at An Bu, silently watching her create a wilderness version of dark cuisine.
[Oh? The broadcaster is live early today; it’s only 6 AM.]
[The background seems to be outdoors; I sense that something big is going to happen today. Let me record in advance.]
The live stream room had sporadic viewers making various comments.
“Hello, everyone! Welcome to the Dark Cuisine live stream. I’m the broadcaster Little Wild. This time, I’ve signed up for a four-day wilderness survival activity, and I will be making some dark cuisine suitable for survival in the wilderness.”
[The broadcaster changed her name again.]
[Broadcaster, survival in the wilderness is challenging enough; do you really want to do dark cuisine?]
[Too cruel! Broadcaster, why are you so harsh on yourself?]
[Broadcaster, has your boyfriend arrived? Did you bring stomach medicine? If you get food poisoning, can you get timely treatment?]
An Bu assured, “You don’t need to worry. I’ve chosen non-toxic ingredients.”
[The main point is not the ingredients, but your heart dedicated to poisoning.]
[“Anyway, it’s the host’s boyfriend who’s poisoned, I’m not afraid of anything.”]
[“Preemptively light a candle for the boyfriend.”]
[“Lighting a candle 1”]
An Bu looked up at Jian Ningxuan and said, “Dear boyfriend, are you afraid?”
Jian Ningxuan responded succinctly, “Not afraid.”
[“Ah, ah, ah, first time hearing the boyfriend’s voice.”]
[“Instantly won over by this voice, boyfriend, please make another sound.”]
[“Host, promise me, be gentle with your boyfriend. Don’t eat him up too quickly.”]
[“Yeah, it’s hard to find a boyfriend who’s not ‘stomach’-dead now.”]
An Bu went along with it, “Alright, I’ll be merciful.”
