Chapter 103:
On the day the club was established, Ji Ran rented out an entire bar to celebrate.
He was surrounded by people all night, with waves of toasts coming his way. Everyone wanted to drink with him. Ji Ran, in a great mood, accepted every drink and insisted on returning the favor, so by the middle of the celebration, most of the crowd was already drunk.
“Congratulations, brother. I’ll work hard for you from now on.”
It was a young man who had just joined as a receptionist, offering Ji Ran a toast. He usually handled odd jobs and answered the phone at the club.
The young man had just turned nineteen this year, having dropped out of school years ago. He was struggling financially, and the owner of a bubble tea shop had introduced him to Ji Ran. Seeing that the kid was fairly quick and honest, Ji Ran decided to hire him.
Ji Ran’s cheeks were flushed from the alcohol. He clinked glasses with the young man and said, “Drink less; you have to watch the store tomorrow.”
The young man nodded quickly. “Okay… I’ll just have this one with you. You should drink less too, brother.”
“How about I help you block a few drinks? I can actually hold my liquor pretty well.”
Ji Ran couldn’t help but laugh at the eager look in the young man’s eyes. “What do I need a kid like you to block drinks for?”
“I’m not a kid, brother…”
Before Ji Ran could respond, someone suddenly hooked an arm around his neck from behind.
Qin Man had just returned from a business trip, rushing over as soon as his plane landed. He was wearing a long black coat, still carrying the chill from outside.
Qin Man gently grasped Ji Ran’s chin, lifting his face and leaning in to sniff him. The smell of alcohol was strong. “You drank this much?”
Ji Ran let him hold on and even opened his mouth to breathe on him, laughing, “Does it stink?”
“It does.”
“If it stinks, then let go.”
Qin Man chuckled. “Not letting go.”
The young man stared at them in shock before finally speaking up, “brother…”
Qin Man glanced at him. “Who’s this?”
“I hired him last week as a helper at the club,” Ji Ran explained before turning to the young man with a smile. “This is your boss’s wife, say hello.”
“W-wife?” The young man was stunned.
The unfamiliar man was smiling, but there was something unfriendly in his gaze, making the young man hesitant to address him that way.
Unexpectedly, the man’s smile grew wider upon hearing the title. “Hmm, work hard from now on.”
After sending the young man off, Qin Man wrapped an arm around Ji Ran’s waist. “No more drinking.”
Ji Ran squinted at him. “When did you come back? Weren’t you supposed to fly in tomorrow?”
“The contract got signed early, so I changed my flight. I messaged you, but you didn’t reply.” His tone was full of mock grievance.
“It was too loud; I didn’t hear it.”
As the guest of honor, Ji Ran couldn’t leave the celebration too early, so the two of them moved to a corner of the bar.
Qin Man handed him a cup of warm water. Ji Ran took a sip, just starting to relax when Qin Man leaned in, pressing him against the wall and kissing him.
Ji Ran froze for a moment, then kissed him back forcefully.
They hadn’t seen each other for six days. Qin Man had been busy, and so had he, leaving little time even for video calls.
The bar’s atmosphere was electric, with midnight approaching and the music blaring at full volume. The lights were so dim that faces were barely visible, and everyone was lost in the vibe. No one noticed the two men in a dark corner, kissing passionately and nearly losing control.
It was Qin Man who finally pulled back.
His young lover was unusually enthusiastic tonight, and it took him a lot of effort to hold back.
“Wait until we get home,” he whispered, his voice hoarse.
Ji Ran hadn’t intended to do anything more. He was quite drunk, and the kissing and hugging were just instinctive reactions to seeing Qin Man again.
The two of them stayed in the corner until it was time to cut the cake. Ji Ran took charge of cutting the cake, and with that, the celebration came to an end.
As soon as Ji Ran left the bar, Yue Wenwen stopped him.
Yue Wenwen was wearing a dress with a high slit that was quite provocative. He smiled and asked, “Xiao Ranran, what’s up with your little employee? He blushes every time he sees me. It’s adorable.”
Ji Ran replied, “Maybe it’s because he’s seeing a flamboyant man like you for the first time.”
Yue Wenwen gave him a flirtatious look. “Are you complimenting him?”
Ji Ran leaned against Qin Man. “Don’t scare off my employee.”
“Relax, I’m just asking,” Yue Wenwen said. “You know I’m not interested in kids. What would a teenager be good for?”
Qin Man first helped Yue Wenwen into the car, then got out to discuss some work matters with Cheng Peng. By the time he returned to the car, Ji Ran had already fallen asleep against the window.
Qin Man adjusted the seat and drove them home.
At home, Qin Man helped Ji Ran change clothes and gave him a quick wipe with a warm towel.
After reconciling, it was the first time they had been apart for so long. Qin Man had been thinking on the return flight that he wanted to be with Ji Ran tonight, no matter what. At the very least, he wanted them to be close for a while.
However, he ended up doing nothing but taking care of this little drunkard.
In his daze, Ji Ran felt something repeatedly rubbing his hand and opened his eyes to see Qin Man sitting by his pillow, wiping his palms.
“I’ve already taken a shower,” Ji Ran said.
“Yes, but I’m wiping them again.”
“What’s the point of wiping them?” Ji Ran frowned. “Are you annoyed with me?”
Qin Man laughed softly and said seriously, “I’m not annoyed.”
“Then don’t wipe them.” Ji Ran pulled his hand back and threw off the blanket beside him. “Let’s sleep.”
Qin Man was about to say that he hadn’t showered yet but decided to let the drunken Ji Ran have his way and lay down.
Ji Ran snuggled up to him. “Why are you still wearing your coat? It’s making me uncomfortable.”
Qin Man removed his coat, and Ji Ran pressed his face against Qin Man’s side, closing his eyes and saying nothing.
“Darling, I need to tell you something,” Qin Man said, playing with a strand of Ji Ran’s hair.
“Go ahead.”
“Do you have any free time tomorrow?”
Ji Ran was exhausted and mumbled, “No, I have work and a contract to sign.”
Qin Man smiled. “I mean in the evening.”
Ji Ran, used to their shameless behavior, thought of something else when evening was mentioned.
He hesitated, “In the evening… I should be free. I can finish work before five.”
“Will you come with me to a place?”
“Where to?” Remembering Qin Man’s previous mention of a classroom play, Ji Ran’s heart raced uncontrollably. “But it’s not the weekend; students will be in class.”
Qin Man thought Ji Ran was too drunk to understand and laughed. “No, I mean to my house.”
“Your house?” Ji Ran repeated, confused.
“Yes,” Qin Man said. “My parents know about us, and they want to meet you.”
“Meet me?” Ji Ran felt he was not understanding correctly. “Why do they want to meet me… What do they know about us?”
Half a minute later, Ji Ran suddenly lifted his head and bumped into Qin Man’s chin.
Qin Man sucked in a breath.
Ji Ran rubbed his head, half-awake from the alcohol. “How did they find out?”
“She saw the photos on the poster,” Qin Man explained.
“?”
“I’ve been so busy lately… I forgot to go home and tear it down,” Qin Man said with a light cough.
Ji Ran stopped his actions and fell silent.
Qin Man moved his face closer to Ji Ran’s hand: “Don’t worry… they didn’t say anything. I told them that I had been relentlessly pursuing you for years before you finally agreed. They won’t blame you.”
Ji Ran, however, wasn’t thinking about that. He frowned and asked after a moment of hesitation, “Do you know what you’re doing?”
“Yes,” Qin Man replied, “I’m introducing my parents to the other half of my life.”
Ji Ran: “…”
Qin Man stared at him for a while, then asked in surprise, “Why are you crying?”
“I’m not crying; it’s the alcohol,” Ji Ran said, his eyes red. “Once you’ve said it, there’s no turning back. Have you thought about that?”
Qin Man chuckled, lowering his head to nibble on Ji Ran’s ear: “Turning back? I’ve always been moving towards you. Where do you want me to turn back to?”
Ji Ran remained silent for a moment, sniffed, and sat up straight.
“Where to?” Qin Man asked, wrapping his arms around Ji Ran’s waist.
“Buy a gift,” Ji Ran said without turning his head.
Qin Man pulled him back onto the bed; Ji Ran, being drunk, couldn’t resist him at all.
“I’ve already bought everything for you, according to what they like,” Qin Man said, planting a kiss on Ji Ran’s lips. “As long as you’re willing to come back with me, you don’t need to worry about the rest. I’ll handle it.”
Ji Ran’s Adam’s apple bobbed slightly as he looked at Qin Man quietly, finally managing to say, “…Okay.”
When Ji Ran first got together with Qin Man, he had left himself many ways out.
But now, those paths had all been sealed off by Qin Man himself, leaving him no choice but to move forward.
Ji Ran thought, if he was going to crash, then crash he would.
He was willing.

I recommend a friend’s melodramatic, sweet novel, “The Rose Beauty” by 微风几许.
It features a cold and domineering 37-year-old boss and a naive and passionate 19-year-old beauty. With an 18-year age gap, it’s melodramatic and sweet, with the young one being incredibly cute!! The older man knows what he’s doing! The main story is complete, so you can enjoy it without worries~
