After seeing off Hua Yang Wang and his wife, Yuwen Chu returned to his room and saw Mingzhu trotting over to him with a cup of hot tea. She then coquettishly blinked her eyes and asked, “Your Highness, are you tired? Do you want a foot massage? Shoulder rub? Shall I serve you?”
Yuwen Chu was covered in goosebumps by her actions. He rubbed his arm and said, “Offering excessive flattery without reason is either insincere or deceitful. So, what do you want?”
Mingzhu smiled ingratiatingly and mimicked Hua Yang Wangfei’s gesture, “Thank you for your reward, my lord.”
Yuwen Chu furrowed his brows, “Thank me for what?”
Mingzhu rushed over, grabbed his arm, and said with a smile, “Thank you for the greenhouse vegetables. I didn’t say anything, but you had them grown. You’re so good to me!”
Yuwen Chu felt very pleased. He glanced at her and sat down on the couch, patting his thigh to signal Mingzhu to sit down.
Mingzhu immediately sat down and tightly wrapped her arms around his neck, making a sound as she kissed him on the lips and said with bright eyes, “Your Highness, what are your orders? As long as I can do it, I’ll spare no effort, even if it means going through fire and water.”
Yuwen Chu teased her, “You can’t do what you don’t want to, right? And of course, there’s no such thing as ‘going through fire and water’. You’ve even learned to set traps for me.”
Mingzhu replied, “It’s Your Highness who taught me that everything should be done with a margin of safety, leaving room for retreat, and words should be said nicely. Aren’t I just putting what I’ve learned into practice?” Seeing Yuwen Chu frown as if in a toothache, she hugged him tightly again and whispered, “I mean it sincerely.”
Yuwen Chu sighed, “What exactly do you want to do? Once this opportunity is missed, it may not come again.”
Mingzhu quickly said, “Well, you see, I heard there are several new shops opening on the street, and they seem interesting. I want to go out and take a look.”
Yuwen Chu frowned, “No, you may not.”
Mingzhu used all her tricks to persuade him, “I’ve become more discerning and intelligent now, not acting impulsively anymore. If Your Highness is worried, you can let Yang Dianjun and the others accompany me. Otherwise, you can let Fourth Brother accompany me. Being stuck at home all day will make me moldy! If I’m in a bad mood, it’s not good for the child…”
Why didn’t she just want him to accompany her? Yuwen Chu looked at Mingzhu, her eyes seeming a bit guilty, but there was also a firm determination inside. She had made up her mind, and even if she couldn’t go, she would find a way. Since she didn’t want him to go, he would comply with her wishes. Yuwen Chu complained disdainfully and then retaliated fiercely. Once he started, he couldn’t stop, and apart from the things they couldn’t do, they did everything else. Looking at Mingzhu, whose skin had turned pink all over, her eyes sparkling, almost dripping with moisture, he sighed, thinking that his self-control was really getting stronger. With this determination alone, there was nothing they couldn’t accomplish.
The afternoon sun shone through the window and warmed their bodies, and Mingzhu lazily leaned against Yuwen Chu, not wanting to move at all, just wanting time to stand still, so that they could always be like this.
“Let Fourth Brother-in-law accompany you. When are you planning to leave?” Yuwen Chu, generous to the end, let her go, ensuring her safety was the first priority. As for the rest, someone would surely inform him later; he couldn’t be kept in the dark.
“You’re so good, Your Highness. If I suddenly tell Fourth Brother that I want to go out, he may not be available. I’ll go out tomorrow.” Mingzhu was satisfied with the fact that every time she made Yuwen Chu happy, he became so easygoing. It was the same today as usual. She had gradually regained the confidence she lost with Yuwen You before. Living together meant that if you were unhappy, I would cheer you up, and if I were unhappy, you would cheer me up. This way, our relationship would only get better and better.
The two cuddled and took a short nap. Yuwen Chu went to deal with official matters, while Mingzhu eagerly called for Zheng Momo, “Send a message to Fourth Brother, telling him that no matter what, he must come tomorrow to accompany me for a stroll! Let him bring a few capable people, with sharp tongues.”
Zheng Momo immediately went to deliver the message, and Mingzhu then called for Su Lan, “Tell Li Quanxin to prepare dozens of drip dew pots from our warehouse, and select some capable servants to stand by, ready to be summoned at any time.”

The next day, Mingzhu got up early to count the manpower and sent Zheng Momo out. Fu Mingzheng brought some people over and saw her sitting there, dressed up and eating fruit. He joked, “Rich people are different, you’ve had everything from the sky, the water, and the land, right?”
Mingzhu replied seriously, “No. Our Highness is strict. They say the less rare something is, the better it tastes. They always make sure I stick to a restricted diet.” As she spoke, she glanced sideways at the steward standing nearby and whispered, “Look, she used to only appear during meals, but now she’s up from early morning till I go to bed at night, afraid I might take an extra bite.”
“Taking advantage and still acting coy! How can there be someone as shameless as you?” Fu Mingzheng teased Mingzhu a bit and asked, “Why haven’t you set off yet?”
Mingzhu played coy, “It’s not time yet. I always choose the right time for my travels.”
