Seeing Mingzhu just smiling, Jiang Shanshan couldn’t help but become angry, “What are you laughing at?”
Mingzhu annoyingly flicked her sleeve, “Laughing? I just find it amusing.”
Jiang Shanshan sneered, “Indeed, no tears until you see the coffin.” She had completely abandoned the honorifics and her attitude was extremely arrogant, as if she had really caught some incredible flaw of Mingzhu’s. “Either cooperate or perish. You choose.”
“If we cooperate, how will we do it?” Mingzhu smiled confidently, thinking it might be fun to tease this person suffering from hysteria.
“Let me into Ying Wang mansion,” Jiang Shanshan said casually, “Considering that we’re of the same kind, I’ll forgive you for what you’ve done to me before. I won’t compete with you. You can be the legitimate wife of Ying Wang, and I’ll be the concubine. With us teaming up, can’t we have a good life?”
Jiang Shanshan, by what right did she think that knowing the so-called secret of the Tajji Pot made them of the same kind? Mingzhu was convinced that Jiang Shanshan’s supposed talents and intelligence were likely not genuine. However, she couldn’t figure out what Jiang Shanshan was really up to. But this matter was not within her scope of concern; she only wanted to corner Jiang Shanshan step by step into a dead end.
Why was this person so fixated on becoming Yuwen Chu’s concubine? Mingzhu couldn’t understand it. “You really have quite the imagination! Forget about being a concubine; I wouldn’t even agree to let you into Ying Wang’s mansion! Give up on this idea now!”
Jiang Shanshan couldn’t see any sign of weakness or fear on Mingzhu’s face. All she saw was disdain and mockery. She couldn’t help but get angry. “Aren’t you afraid I’ll tell Yuwen Chu your secret?”
“You can go tell him!” Mingzhu smirked mockingly. “I’ll be right here waiting! Hurry up! Besides, I’m quite interested in your secret too.” Jiang Shanshan was clearly trying to threaten her. Did she really think that Mingzhu would feel guilty just because she mentioned something about the Tajji Pot? Under normal circumstances, shouldn’t she be accusing Mingzhu of stealing the Tajji Pot instead? Let’s just scare each other and see who has more courage.
With a smug and hateful expression, Jiang Shanshan, who had lived for two lifetimes, had never hated anyone as much as she did at that moment. Why! They both transmigrated, but how could Fu Mingzhu end up in the Fu family mansion, better than the Changxing Marquis’s mansion, becoming the only daughter and the most beloved niece of the Great Empress Dowager so easily, choosing whichever prince she liked, discarding Yuwen You as she pleased, and even gaining Yuwen Chu’s favor effortlessly?
Why! She had worked so hard, only to be forced into a corner step by step? She had experimented many times, finally producing exquisite glass products and soap with craftsmen, only to be forcibly robbed and framed by Fu Mingzhu, losing the good name she had painstakingly built over the years and suffering significant financial losses, putting her in a passive state ever since.
Why! Even if she made a little extra money by making a Tajji Pot, Fu Mingzhu wouldn’t let her go. She insisted on thoroughly ruining her reputation, making her family despise her, and even attracting the covetousness and coercion of Yuwen You.
Some people relied on strength, some on luck. She didn’t believe that someone with strength couldn’t defeat someone relying on luck!
Jiang Shanshan looked resentfully at Mingzhu’s small abdomen, which was tightly swollen due to her first pregnancy. Although it wasn’t visible yet due to the early stage of the pregnancy, Jiang Shanshan found it particularly annoying. If it weren’t for Fu Mingzhu, if there were no Fu Mingzhu in this world, Yuwen Chu should have been hers, the position of Ying Wang’s consort should have been hers, and this child should have been hers.
Once evil thoughts took root, they couldn’t be stopped. Jiang Shanshan revealed a strange smile. “Are you sure you won’t consider the first option I gave you?”
Mingzhu replied seriously, “Everyone walks their own path, and they are responsible for their own choices. Even if I have to crawl on my knees, I will finish the path I’ve chosen. Furthermore, no one can choose my path for me. So you just come at me, and let’s see if I’m afraid of you.”
It seemed like negotiations were breaking down.
Based on her past experiences, Jiang Shanshan keenly realized that the worst-case scenario had occurred. Fu Mingzhu wasn’t afraid of her coercion or tempted by her offers. Instead, she wanted to fight her to the end, full of hatred.
Jiang Shanshan smiled bitterly. “It seems we’re destined to be incompatible. What a pity. Are you really not willing to reconsider?”
Mingzhu found Jiang Shanshan irritating. “You’re so annoying. If you’re leaving, just leave. Stop wasting my time. Even if it gets dark, I won’t keep you for dinner.”
“Fine.” Jiang Shanshan stood up and walked to Mingzhu, reaching out to pull her hand. “As fellow villagers, can’t you see me off?”
She wore a ring on her hand, a ring with a barely visible spike hidden inside, containing a slow-acting poison. Once pierced, it would spread through the bloodstream and nerves, causing the fetus in the womb to die or become deformed. The wound was so small that it was almost invisible. By the time it was noticed, the wound would have already healed, leaving no evidence.
Jiang Shanshan’s movement was quick, but Mingzhu’s was quicker. Mingzhu calmly sat back in her chair, grabbing Jiang Shanshan’s hand before it could reach her.
Her arm was equipped with a meticulously crafted sleeve arrow, its gleaming arrowhead aimed directly at Jiang Shanshan’s face. “Back off!” she whispered softly, her arm not moving an inch. “Do you believe I’ll turn you into a pincushion?”
Jiang Shanshan’s pupils contracted to pinpricks. In that instant, she felt the breath of death. She stood frozen, not daring to move, and stiffly said, “Let’s talk things out.”
“I’ve heard that you’re very capable and skilled.” Mingzhu’s plump and fair fingers rested on the trigger of the sleeve arrow, ready to press down. “You had a servant girl named Mudi who could have escaped, but you thought she was a burden, so you personally stabbed her and then had her thrown off a horseback, instructing the guards to kill her. With your skills and your cruel and manic temperament, how could I talk to you alone without taking precautions? Don’t even think about calling for help. I’ll shoot you down before they come in, and I’ll say you were trying to assassinate me.”
“Don’t act impulsively. I have no ill intentions towards you, at least not now. I’m not that stupid.” Jiang Shanshan forced a smile, moving her arms slightly to show Mingzhu that she didn’t have any weapons in her hands.
“Don’t move!” Mingzhu now noticed issues all over her body. “Roll up your sleeves and raise your hands, yes, the hand with the ring on it!”
Jiang Shanshan immediately complied. She didn’t believe that Mingzhu could detect any problems with something so cleverly concealed.
