Chapter 42 Dagger Appears

Hate and love at the same time? How is that possible? Mingzhu was startled by her own thoughts, then laughed lazily, covering her mouth with a yawn, and said very slowly, “Forget it, a dignified royal descendant, a prince of a county, actually has to disguise himself as a palace servant to sneak in, it’s really not easy. I know what you want, it’s not impossible, as long as you’re willing to kneel down…” She glanced sideways at Yuwen You and smirked wickedly, “Stop pretending, if you’re planning to act like a dog, why bother holding your head up high?”
A hint of blush rose from Yuwen You’s ear roots, quickly spreading up, quickly reddening his eyes. He glared at Mingzhu fiercely, veins bulging on his forehead, his eyes full of undisguised hatred and anger.
Mingzhu, on the other hand, felt strangely calm. This was the Yuwen You she was familiar with, not the one who had just pretended to be sentimental. She looked at him with a satisfied smile and said, “Can’t hold it anymore? I’m right here, do you want to come and kill me?”
“Kill you?” Yuwen You said in a mixture of anger and bitter laughter, “Die together? I used to think like that, but now I can’t bear to die. It doesn’t matter if you die, but I still have many things to do, I can’t accompany you to death. Since you won’t listen to reason, I can only take another path.” He didn’t want to live like a dog, nor did he want to be killed like one, so he had to resist.
He picked up the dagger and held it in front of his eyes, examining it carefully, as if a brilliant flower had bloomed on the tip of the blade. Mingzhu’s heart tightened suddenly, she stood up and exclaimed loudly, “What are you going to do?”
Yuwen You smiled and suddenly rushed forward, grabbing her hand and dragging it to grasp the dagger, then with a casual and neat motion, he stabbed the dagger into his own abdomen.
The warm blood, still with body heat, flowed into her palm, sticky and fishy, something she had never accomplished in her previous life was unexpectedly achieved so easily in this life? Mingzhu stared blankly at the blood in her palm, then looked at Yuwen You. His face bore a smug smile, but quickly turned into a horrifying scream, as if shattering the sky, “Help! Someone, help!” He pressed down on her, trying to pin her firmly beneath him.
Mingzhu suddenly realized, almost wishing she could use this force to stab him a few more times and truly end him. But it was not the time for that. She had just been reborn, and it was not worth sacrificing her youth and bright future to accompany him to h*ll. So she exerted all her strength to push him away and turned to flee.
However, it was too late. The dense footsteps approached from afar, like a tide rushing towards them. The first person, with an excited voice, shouted, “Yes, the missing palace servant came this way. Hurry up, don’t scare the lady.”
Another person screamed sharply, “Su Lan, Su Mei, what’s going on with you two?”
The door was forcefully broken open from the outside, Mingzhu couldn’t escape in time, so she stood there dumbly, allowing the blood on her hands and clothes to be exposed to everyone’s eyes.
The first to enter was Fu Mingzheng. His brows furrowed tightly, his thin lips pressed together firmly, and the anger in his eyes was about to ignite. But the moment he saw Mingzhu standing there safe and sound, he relaxed, then turned his gaze silently to Yuwen You, lying in a pool of blood, seeming thoughtful.
“Linan Wang! My God! Something terrible has happened! It’s Linan Wang!” A palace maid screamed and rushed out from the crowd, kneeling beside Yuwen You, holding his face as if frightened out of her wits, and shouted in fear, “What’s going on? Who killed Linan Wang?”
Yuwen You was facing away from the door, wearing palace attire, which means that if people didn’t know the truth, they couldn’t recognize him immediately. Therefore, this palace servant was Yuwen You’s accomplice. He took advantage of the opportunity when the Great Empress Dowager sent someone to see her, helped Yuwen You disguise himself, and then helped Yuwen You sneak into the Fu residence. After that, Yuwen You stayed hidden somewhere, waiting for the opportunity, while he pretended to search for the missing palace servant, which might have been harmful to her, and brought a large group of people here to witness – to witness that she killed Linan Wang, or perhaps to witness that she severely injured Linan Wang.
Mingzhu frowned and looked at Yuwen You. Yuwen You still had consciousness. He laid on the ground, smiling contentedly at her, then closed his eyes.
Mingzhu remembered that afternoon when he ran to apologize to Madame Cui, she stood behind the window watching him, and he turned around and silently said to her, “Just wait and see.”
Yuwen You didn’t want to die, so he couldn’t lose this marriage. But public opinion was strongly against him. The Great Empress Dowager and his father were determined to cancel the marriage, so he had to take a risk, use this incident of being severely injured by her to silence the Great Empress Dowager and the Fu family, in order to catch his breath and escape.
Mingzhu thought, what if she had discovered him in the beginning and decisively escaped through the window? In fact, the result would be the same. Regardless, Yuwen You would be found injured in the Fu residence, and then his accomplices would dramatically carry him out of the residence. It didn’t matter how he was injured, the key was that everyone would know that, in order to cancel the marriage, the Fu family was ruthless enough to take the life of a county prince.
She should have known that he was such a shameless and ruthless person, but she underestimated him. She only enjoyed his embarrassment, but forgot that a wolf is not a dog. Its claws are sharp and its heart is ruthless, it would never sit idly by. Mingzhu sighed and looked up at the crowd, feeling very puzzled and frightened, “Fourth Brother, save me! He’s gone mad… I was half asleep and half awake, heard some movement outside, and when I opened my eyes, I saw a palace servant trying to kill me… He, he’s terrifying… Couldn’t kill me, heard you guys coming and stabbed himself!”
Anyway, no matter what, she would never admit that she killed Yuwen You. Mingzhu pretended to be overly frightened, and then collapsed to the ground.
Fu Mingzheng caught her in time, hissed coldly, “What a ruthless and vengeful Linan Wang! What a broad-minded, daring husband! He actually disguised himself as a palace servant and attacked here. Do you really think the Fu family is dead?” He kicked the palace servant who knelt on the ground protesting for Linan Wang’s injustice, angrily shouted, “How do you know he’s here? Could it be that you’re his accomplice?”
Before the palace servant could defend themselves, they were pushed down to the ground by someone and gagged, then tied up like a zongzi.
“Quickly, go and fetch the doctor,” Fu Mingzheng’s gaze slowly swept over the people around him, seeing trusted aides from his own household, maidservants, as well as palace servants and guards who had come with the palace servant. He sincerely felt that this matter was really tricky. It was easy to shift the blame, but what was difficult was how to silence the rumors — once Yuwen You was carried out of the mansion, the unpleasant rumors would spread everywhere. It had to be admitted that Yuwen You’s act of feigning illness was indeed very effective. As he pondered, he heard a servant say, “The Lord is here!”
