The old woman didn’t dare to argue with Mingzhu. She just knelt on the ground, repeatedly kowtowing and apologizing, “This old woman was foolish and blind. I won’t dare again. Your Grace, please spare me. I’m willing to serve my daughter-in-law well and make up for my mistakes.”
Her son hurriedly took the silver from her and returned it to Mingzhu, but Mingzhu naturally refused to accept it. She instructed him to give it to the beautiful maid as medical fees. The maid took the silver, disdainfully spat at him, and muttered, “Useless coward.” Then, she briskly walked inside.
The man blushed and lowered his head, carrying the child and following the maid inside. He urged his mother, “Go back and bring some daily necessities.”
The old woman glanced at Mingzhu quietly. Seeing Su Momo rolling up her sleeves, she quickly lowered her head again and left with her entourage.
Mingzhu intended to make things difficult for her, so she instructed Wu Baihu, “Send two men to follow her. If she causes trouble or refuses to comply, deal with her. Just make sure nobody dies or gets injured. Don’t let her off easily.”
Wu Baihu loudly agreed, “Yes!” He quickly dispatched two trusted men to handle the matter. He himself followed closely behind Mingzhu, unwilling to leave.
Mingzhu frowned, “Why are you following me? Hurry up and do your job!”
Wu Baihu wanted to see if the laboring woman was really saved like this, but he made an excuse, “Protecting Your Highness’s safety is the only duty of this subordinate!”
It was rare to see such a man who loved to watch the excitement. Mingzhu scolded him, “What’s the use of a man like you, who has nothing to do with childbirth, going over there?”
Wu Baihu grinned, “I’ll just stand far away at the door and take a look. As long as I see her still breathing, it’s fine.”
Mingzhu frowned, “Weren’t you following me to protect me? How did it turn into just taking a look at the door?”
Wu Baihu chuckled, “Your Highness is a good person, and I am sincerely willing.”
Mingzhu couldn’t say anything to him. She went inside while he stayed outside to watch. The laboring woman was probably given some kind of anesthetic, as she was asleep. However, after carefully checking, Mingzhu could confirm that the woman was indeed alive, and her pulse was strong. She nodded approvingly at Wu Baihu, who was anxiously waiting at the door, and he immediately left satisfied.
Mingzhu wanted to see the wound on the woman’s abdomen. The beautiful maid had a good impression of her and readily showed it to her. Although it was covered, Mingzhu could still see that the wound was not very large.
Then another beautiful maid came over to invite her, “My master is waiting for Your Highness in the reception room.”
The middle-aged man had changed into a new outfit and was sitting by the window, brewing tea. His long, fair fingers reminded Mingzhu of the time when Yuwen Chu brewed tea for her at the Jade Emperor’s Temple. She couldn’t help but glance at him a few more times.
The middle-aged man noticed and smiled, raising his hand towards the opposite seat, “Ying Wangfei, please sit.”
Mingzhu calmly sat opposite him and asked straightforwardly, “May I ask your honorable name?”
“I am surnamed Jiang, named Zhouzi.” The middle-aged man’s smile seemed somewhat teasing, “Ying Wangfei believes it?”
Mingzhu said, “Of course I would like to believe it. Since you know who I am, you should understand that the person I most hope to find right now is Jiang Zhouzi.”
“For the treatment of Prime Minister Fu’s injuries, and for Madam Fu’s illness, right?” This so-called “Jiang Zhouzi” also cut to the chase, “I just don’t understand, does it matter what my name is? As long as I can cure the illness and save lives, what does it matter if I’m Jiang Zhouzi or Jiang Zhouzi*?”

Mingzhu said, “You’re right. Who you are doesn’t matter. What matters is being able to cure the illness and save lives. The techniques you demonstrated today are indeed unheard of and unseen. It broadened my horizons, but I’m not sure if you’re really that capable. So, I want to leave someone here to watch over until the woman recovers.”
‘It doesn’t matter’ Jiang Zhouzi said indifferently, “As long as you confirm that Prime Minister Fu can wait for so many days.”
“My father has been waiting for several days already, and a little more won’t matter,” Mingzhu said. She had already sent someone to investigate the background of this laboring woman’s family. Soon, they would know if it was a trap or a scam.
“But,” Jiang Zhouzi smiled again, “how do you know that I am willing to treat Prime Minister Fu and Madam Fu?”
Mingzhu stood up calmly, “That’s a story for later. For now, I need to confirm your identity and whether you pose a threat, as well as whether you are worth seeking help from. Goodbye, I hope you won’t disappoint me.”
So domineering, was this asking for help? It was as if he was asking her instead. “Jiang Zhouzi” stood by the window and watched Mingzhu walk away without looking back. Then, he said to the maid behind him, “I heard she has an extraordinary memory. I hope she can solve that problem for me.”
Mingzhu boarded the carriage and instructed Su Momo, “Leave a few people behind to keep an eye on that laboring woman and this man for me. If they are found to be cheating or attempting to escape, I authorize you to deal with it flexibly, as long as nobody dies or gets injured.”
Su Momo agreed and selected a few capable individuals to stay behind and monitor the situation.
By now, it was already past noon, and Zhuang Zhuang had finished breastfeeding and started his nap time again. Zheng Momo reminded Mingzhu, “It’s time to go, or the Imperial Consort might get upset.”
Wu Baihu stopped at the end of the street he was responsible for and, patting his not-so-strong chest, assured Mingzhu, “Rest assured, Wangfei. I will keep a close eye on him for you. If he is any kind of demon, spirit, or forest fairy, I will ensure he reveals his true form early! I will immediately have someone fetch some talisman paper to paste around his courtyard so he can’t escape.”
Mingzhu couldn’t be bothered to deal with him anymore, saying, “Do whatever you want. Take care of the maids we left behind in our mansion. If anything happens, send someone to the Palace or Prime Minister Fu’s residence to inform us.”
Reluctantly, Wu Baihu watched Mingzhu’s carriage drive away before turning around. He whispered to his subordinates, “Ying Wangfei is a blessed person. Look, that woman was originally dying, but she came alive after meeting her…”
Someone wanted to correct him, saying, “It was that strange doctor who was powerful…” Before he could finish, Wu Baihu slapped him hard, “If it weren’t for Ying Wangfei’s decision, would that family dare to take such a gamble? So, it’s still because Ying Wangfei is kind and blessed!”
Afterwards, Mingzhu’s reputation for being blessed, beautiful, and kind spread inexplicably. The parties involved remained ignorant, but Yuwen Chu found out the reason. He had Wu Baihu carefully questioned, and finding him clear-minded and capable, he promoted him. Later on, Wu Baihu showed bravery in battle and made repeated military achievements, even being promoted to the rank of general despite his advanced age. He always claimed that it was Ying Wangfei’s blessing that brought him fortune and forbade anyone from speaking ill of Mingzhu.
