In the morning, after everyone ate dumplings, they set out on the road.
It was already the fifteenth day of the apocalypse. There were very few zombies on the highway, just occasionally a crashed car stopped on the roadside, the car seats still soaked with a big pool of blood and rotting bones. All of this showed that these cars’ owners were bitten to death by suddenly mutating companions while driving. Some even had tightly shut windows, with zombies trapped inside. When a car drove past, they would pound on the windows with all their strength, letting out bursts of roaring.
Yangcheng, Qi Yue had been there before, but the food-processing factory they were going to today, he had never been to.
The car drove on the road. Same as the day before, in the second car, the driver was Glasses, the front passenger seat was Chu Yi, and in the back sat Han Fei and Qi Yue.
Sigh, others absorbed crystal cores. Only he was different, he tried using the level 1 strength crystal core in his hand, but it didn’t work at all. He could only rely on cooking to level up. Last night Qi Yue had been wrapping dumplings nonstop to level up. As for the leftover ingredients, Qi Yue pushed it off, saying that he was too tired the previous night and couldn’t release any ability. Seeing Han Fei’s suspicious look, well, he had no way to prove his own words were fake anyway, Qi Yue said it with full confidence.
He wrapped dumplings the whole night before. Even though strengthening his spiritual abilities kept him from feeling exhausted, he was way too sleepy. Once in the car, Qi Yue couldn’t hold on. First his head leaned against the window and he nodded off, his head bumping the window with each nod. Sometimes he bumped too hard and it hurt, so he’d open his hazy eyes to look ahead, then close them again, continuing.
This posture also maybe made him uncomfortable, so he shifted positions and directly fell asleep.
Han Fei frowned, looking at Qi Yue who was already sleeping soundly on his shoulder. Chu Yi in the front turned around, “He wrapped dumplings all night last night.”
Han Fei nodded, showing he understood. But this kid was pretty bold huh, sleeping against him like this. Even though he wasn’t exactly satisfied, he didn’t push him away, letting Qi Yue continue leaning on him.
Tilting his head, he looked at Qi Yue’s face. His body wasn’t as hard or stiff as a man’s, it was somewhat soft, seemed like it had very good flexibility. Each breath Qi Yue took blew warm against his ear, warm and hot. Qi Yue probably still felt uncomfortable, so he began shifting around again, looking for a comfortable position. He found the most comfortable one and directly laid face-down on Han Fei’s lap, continuing to sleep.
Glasses and Chu Yi in the front saw it through the rearview mirror, and they didn’t even dare breathe loudly. The new kid was lying on Brother Fei’s lap… Brother Fei must like this kid, right? He wasn’t pushing him off.
Qi Yue lay face-down toward Han Fei, his face right in front of Han Fei’s lower area, his breathing now directly blowing on Han Fei’s hardness. It didn’t take long for Han Fei to react. He hadn’t found a woman to release in so long, his body reacted immediately, his crotch tightened, his breathing turned slightly fast. A big bulge rose from the middle of Han Fei’s pants, almost touching Qi Yue’s face.
Because Qi Yue had been focused on upgrading, his nerves had been stimulated nonstop. After falling asleep, he relaxed extremely, his mouth slightly open as he breathed. Each breath he exhaled from his mouth blew directly onto Han Fei’s lower area. Han Fei looked at Qi Yue’s moist, fresh-looking lips, his mind turning chaotic, d*mn, he was just openly seducing people like this?!
Suddenly his nose felt uncomfortable, itchy, itchy, and Qi Yue, burying his head, directly, right in front of him—sneezed. This time Han Fei let out a low □, almost losing it completely. That would’ve been humiliating.
He couldn’t continue like this. If he let Qi Yue keep lying on him, he really couldn’t guarantee he’d still hold back. He’d had so many women before, but none of them ever made him this overwhelmed just by lying on him, much less that this was a man. Han Fei pushed Qi Yue off him, pushing him aside.
Qi Yue rubbed his eyes, still half-asleep, looking at Han Fei with half-squinted eyes. Since his eyes were naturally long peach-blossom shaped, seeing him like this made Han Fei tighten again below. D*mn it, as soon as he woke up he knew how to seduce men. Thinking this, Han Fei’s face immediately sank, “Stay alert, we’ll be reaching the processing factory soon.” Actually, it was at least more than two hours away from Yangcheng’s factory, they were still far away.
Qi Yue was still confused, so sleepy. His eyes drifted to the window. Huh?
“I know a shortcut, it can save half the time.” He had taken that road once before, it passed beside a small mountain village, and could save half the time compared to the highway.
Seeing the three in the car looking at him, Qi Yue said even more eagerly: “There are very few residents near that road, so there won’t be many zombies.” If he showed more of his strengths, these people would definitely look at him differently.
Han Fei looked up at Glasses, who was familiar with roads.
Glasses nodded with understanding toward Han Fei. “There is a small road, but I’ve never been there. If there are few people around, we can take it.”
“I know it. I can guide.” Qi Yue rushed to show himself.
Han Fei thought for a moment, saving time was best. Zombies already evolved more than a few days ago. For safety, they needed to find a place early to spend the night. Seeing Qi Yue’s little expectant face looking at him, this little kid seemed to have said he could sense zombies on the road, right? Han Fei nodded, agreeing.
A line of six cars grandly left the highway, turning into the rural road. After twisting left and right through the small paths, they reached the small road Qi Yue mentioned that only had a few households near the village.
Once the cars entered this rural road, because Han Fei’s ability level was higher than the others, he faintly felt a ripple of spiritual force. But when he tried feeling again, it was gone—faint, indistinct.
“Everyone stay alert, might be something ahead.” He picked up the walkie-talkie, reminding all cars to increase guard.
Han Fei knew there might be danger ahead, but they couldn’t turn back now. The village roads were too narrow to turn cars around. And he also wanted to see what made his spiritual power feel unusual. With his personality, he couldn’t run every time there was danger. Facing danger bravely was the only way to become stronger.
This small road had a row of houses on one side. Quiet, the surroundings abnormally calm. If earlier he wasn’t sure, now Han Fei could confirm, there was a problem here. Not a single zombie. Too abnormal. Even if few people lived here, it was impossible for there to be no zombies at all. The cars were many, the noise loud, it was impossible no zombies came swarming.
The cars kept driving along the road. When they reached the middle of the row of houses, zombies appeared ahead, the road was blocked! About several dozen zombies appeared from who-knows-where. Immediately, the quiet turned noisy. Zombies crawled out from the houses on both sides, wobbling out in more and more numbers. The whole area filled with zombie stench.
They couldn’t break through, too many zombies blocked the front. Cars would get stuck, and even if the first car got through by luck, the ones behind wouldn’t. They could only get out. Retreating was even more impossible—road narrow, and zombies surrounding from behind too. They were getting wrapped like dumplings by zombies!
He didn’t know if it had anything to do with the dumplings they ate this morning. They did eat dumplings this morning. A ridiculous thought flashed through Han Fei’s mind.
“Everyone out. Block the way behind first.” Everyone in the team had a walkie-talkie, so even encountering sudden danger they didn’t panic. How was this like gangsters? More like special forces.
“Block the way we came from first.”
Han Fei directed everyone to get out and fight zombies. Clear division of labor, close zombies handled by those without abilities, using knives to slash or guns to blow heads. Their aim was accurate. They also occasionally tossed grenades at distant zombie groups.
Their equipment was truly complete. Qi Yue was envious. He wanted a gun too, using a knife was too dangerous, his mind filled with unnecessary fears.
Why was he so unlucky, why were there so many zombies on this road? Would Han Fei think he was incompetent? He had even claimed he could sense zombies on the road, where did this many appear from? Could it be summoned by a level-one zombie? Yes, that must be it. There had already been level-one zombies days ago. D*mn it, in the previous life, level-one zombies didn’t appear until more than a month after the apocalypse. Why so many now? Even though things were a little different from before, anything could happen. Although the zombies were stronger than at the beginning, they still hadn’t evolved. They must have been summoned by a zombie stronger than themselves.
Qi Yue looked up, staring at the zombie group, trying to find the leader. That one, the one wearing a gray jacket. That zombie stayed on the outer ring of the group, not charging forward, more agile than the others, occasionally letting out low growls. The zombie group followed its growls, orderly attacking Han Fei’s team.
“Boss, kill the leader.” Qi Yue pointed at the gray-jacketed zombie and shouted to Han Fei.
That zombie was sharp. Seeing Qi Yue notice him, he moved deeper into the group, trying to hide. But it was too late, Han Fei followed Qi Yue’s direction and also spotted it. He raised his hand, released a thread of fire, and drilled a hole straight through the zombie’s head. One move instant kill.
D*mn! D*mn! D*mn! That freakish gangster boss was actually a dual-ability user! And level-two already!! Qi Yue’s heart tangled, envious, jealous, resentful!
The more than hundred surrounding zombies were all dealt with. Crisis resolved safely, and luckily, the team had no casualties.
Han Fei walked to the corpse of the level-one zombie, cut open its skull, and dug out the crystal core. White! If he guessed right, this was a level-one zombie with space ability like him! That’s why he felt faint, flickering spiritual pressure when entering the small road. This zombie had shielded his ability and summoned the other zombies. Han Fei slipped the crystal core into his pocket.
After that, everything went smoothly, they didn’t encounter zombies again. After a while, the convoy followed the small road Qi Yue pointed out and came out. To take this shortcut, they not only had to fight zombies head-on, but ended up spending two more hours than if they had stayed on the highway.
Han Fei crossed his arms across his chest, narrowing his eyes as he sized up Qi Yue beside him.
Qi Yue wore a seductive smile, but his heart was uneasy. Was this the time he’d settle accounts? Doesn’t matter, he had already decided. This team was strong. He wasn’t leaving! If Han Fei had the guts, he could just kill him!
