Rebirth in the Apocalypse: The Peach Blossom Debt Chapter 44

Qi Yue anxiously grabbed Han Fei’s arm. There were so many red light dots, so many it shocked him. At least a thousand. His hand tightened around Han Fei’s arm without him realizing it.

Han Fei immediately knew something must have happened. Qi Yue had never been this panicked before. He lowered his voice to comfort him, “Don’t be afraid, I’m here.”

Qi Yue steadied his breathing and said, “Should we leave now?”

After speaking, he looked at Han Fei, searching for an answer. He hadn’t even noticed that, unconsciously, he already relied on the other man.

Hearing this, Han Fei suddenly lifted his head to look at Qi Yue, then scanned the surroundings. Darkness everywhere. He couldn’t see or hear anything.

He was already Level 3, how could so many zombies approach without him sensing any movement?

Feeling distressed, he wrapped an arm around Qi Yue and lightly patted his back. He could clearly see the worry in Qi Yue’s eyes and said, “I won’t let you get hurt.”

His voice was soft, carrying an odd emotion, almost like he was talking to himself but his tone was firm.

Unfortunately, Qi Yue didn’t hear clearly and asked suspiciously, “What did you say?”

Before Han Fei could answer, Qi Yue tugged on his arm and pointed far away to the west. “Only that direction is clear. Zombies are approaching from every other direction. They’re about… hmm…” He quickly calculated in his mind. “About five minutes away from reaching us.”

The west wouldn’t work, that direction led to the forest. Rushing in blindly would only lead to more danger, and they wouldn’t even have space to run. It seemed they had no choice but to break out.

Han Fei said calmly, “Go tell Lin Yuze to come. We’re leaving now.” He hesitated, then looked toward the people at the doorway. “Actually, I should inform them too.”

The zombie inside the house was the priority. If they didn’t deal with it now, it would bite even more people. They wouldn’t even make it out of the yard before being surrounded.

“Okay.” At this point, the only option left was to act. Qi Yue nodded and turned to look for Lin Yuze.

Inside the house, the zombie had already bitten four more people and was attacking the ones outside. The first two people who had approached earlier were also injured.

Han Fei stepped forward and used a spatial blade to cut off the zombie’s leg, but the creature still crawled toward the crowd.

At this moment, the four bitten people simultaneously mutated. They wobbled out of the house. The night was pitch-black, and ordinary people couldn’t see anything clearly, which triggered a wave of panic.

Officer Wu’s group had many women and ordinary folks among them. Even though they huddled inside the house, screams rose one after another.

Han Fei frowned tightly. Screaming… would only make the zombies even more excited.

The situation was rapidly slipping out of control.

Qi Yue didn’t care about his injured leg and quickly made his way toward Lin Yuze.

The abandoned factory yard wasn’t big, but Qi Yue was still panting by the time he reached Lin Yuze. Without another word, he grabbed his hand and tried to pull him away.

Lin Yuze didn’t move.

Qi Yue turned around, confused. “We have to go now. Zombies are closing in from all sides.”

While speaking, he kept glancing around. The distant red dots were growing larger, the zombies were getting closer.

Suddenly, Qi Yue’s body froze.

Lin Yuze wrapped him from behind, chin resting on his shoulder, their faces touching. His warm breath brushed against Qi Yue’s neck, ticklish and hot.

Then, in a low voice by his ear, he said: “Qi Yue, I like you.”

The voice was full of desire, making Qi Yue’s heart tremble.

Qi Yue stood there, mouth slightly open, stunned. He had no idea what to do. He had never even thought about this situation. What did Lin Yuze mean by “like”? He liked him too!

Lin Yuze quickly released him. Seeing Qi Yue’s dazed expression actually amused him. From childhood to now, no one had ever made him feel so delighted. He chuckled softly and rubbed Qi Yue’s hair.

“Come on, aren’t we in trouble right now?”

The screams from Han Fei’s direction echoed again. Qi Yue snapped out of it. D*mn! He hated screaming the most!

Feeling irritated, he said to Lin Yuze like coaxing a child, “Stop overthinking. I like you too. I’ll take good care of you.”

This time, it was Lin Yuze who stopped smiling. His brows furrowed slightly.

Qi Yue liking him made him happy but did Qi Yue even understand what was going on?

“Hurry, hurry, hurry. Let’s go check.” Qi Yue urged.

Why were these people so calm? Han Fei wasn’t anxious, and now Lin Yuze wasn’t anxious either. These kids… their guts were huge. If only they knew how many zombies were coming, they’d probably pee themselves. Qi Yue thought wickedly.

They rushed toward Han Fei’s side. In the dim moonlight, ordinary people couldn’t see anything but chaos was spreading everywhere.

D*mn d*mn d*mn!! All this because of that stupid woman!! Qi Yue seethed with anger.

As they approached, several bodies lay on the ground, some bitten to death, some killed after turning.

Han Fei was dealing with a zombie. A flash of his ability, and the zombie’s skull rolled on the ground. The remaining zombies were quickly taken care of by Officer Wu’s group.

Han Fei whispered something to Officer Wu, causing the latter to panic and nod repeatedly. He then gathered several people and sent them off in different directions.

When Han Fei noticed Qi Yue and Lin Yuze approaching, he walked over.

“How far are they now?” Han Fei asked.

“About a thousand meters,” Qi Yue answered. He could now make out the swaying silhouettes more clearly.

As he spoke, he took out two small steamed buns from the kitchen and handed them one each.

They accepted them and ate them. One more ability meant one more weapon.

Thinking for a moment, Han Fei took out a backpack from his space, put it on the ground, unzipped it, and asked, “You know how to use these, right? Come get them.”

Inside the bag: guns, bullets, and grenades.

Lin Yuze squatted down and picked a gun that suited him.

“Yeah,” he said. He had seen these in games; it shouldn’t be hard. He chose one. He had suspected Han Fei wasn’t simple, now it was confirmed, with all these weapons.

After Lin Yuze chose a gun, Han Fei took one for himself and tucked it at his waist.

He looked at Qi Yue, who was lost in thought. “Come get a gun.”

“How about we don’t leave? What if we climb onto the roof and shoot all the zombies from up there?” Qi Yue squatted down beside them proudly, thinking he had come up with a brilliant idea. He had unlimited food for energy regeneration, he could keep using abilities nonstop.

The two men stared at him like he was an idiot, then resumed loading their guns.

“Why? It won’t work?” he asked.

Han Fei rejected him immediately. “No. The house is too old. A single hit from a zombie will collapse it. We wouldn’t die from zombies but from the roof crushing us.”

Qi Yue’s mouth fell open slightly. He hadn’t thought of that. Reborn so many times, yet he was only causing trouble in critical moments. Frustrated, he grabbed a few magazines and stuffed them into his pockets.

“You’re not taking a gun?” Han Fei asked.

“I have one, the one you gave me last time.” Qi Yue pulled it out to show him.

“Good.”

Han Fei put away the backpack. Then, not caring about others’ reactions, he stored a nearby car into his space. They had no choice, the cars in the courtyard were blocking the exit.

“Let’s go. Once we’re out, we’ll get in the car.” He took the lead.

The courtyard was chaotic. Officer Wu’s group was also preparing to leave quickly.

Most cars were already running. They had seven or eight vehicles. Some were reversing out the gate; others waited for people to board.

Someone saw Han Fei put a car away and shouted: “What happened? Where did the car go?”

“Space ability! That has to be a space ability!”

“Yes! I read about this in a novel!”

“It’s them! Quick! Follow them! We won’t have to worry about food if we stick with them!”

Their shouting and honking made Qi Yue curse again.

Looking around, Qi Yue could now clearly see the approaching red silhouettes. Not people, zombies.

The cold night wind blew, carrying a thick stench of decay.

Han Fei took out a car from his space.

“I’ll drive. You two kill the zombies.” Qi Yue knew his attack power wasn’t as good as theirs, but he was a good driver.

“Okay.” Han Fei sat in the passenger seat.

Lin Yuze got in the back.

Qi Yue hit the accelerator, knocking down several zombies in front. “Which way?”

“Follow the road, don’t turn around,” Lin Yuze said, pulling a grenade from his pocket and tossing it out the window.

The grenade landed in a nearby group of zombies and exploded. Rotten limbs flew everywhere. The empty space was immediately filled by more zombies flooding in.

Why were zombies suddenly appearing like this? What was going on?

The people from the courtyard were also driving out. In the chaos, two cars crashed into each other. Before they could restart, zombies had already surrounded them. Screams of despair filled the air.

Other cars sped off in all directions, drawing away many zombies due to the noise and the scent of humans.

Qi Yue’s group didn’t have time to worry about them. They desperately cleared the zombies blocking their path, grenades, abilities, nonstop.

Because their firepower was too strong, the zombies couldn’t get close. Maybe realizing the three were tougher to deal with, the zombies focused instead on the cars behind them.

Qi Yue ran over several zombies, crushing their broken limbs as they sped onto the highway.

He finally released a long breath and looked into the rear-view mirror.

Only one car managed to escape behind them. All the others were trapped in the zombie swarm. The gut-wrenching screams grew fainter and fainter.

Author’s note:

Even though I already decided who Qi Yue’s first time will be with, I’m still curious, who do you want it to be? If enough people suggest otherwise, maybe I’ll change it~
