Qi Yuan didn’t take it too seriously. “Leave it here for now. We’ll wait until the Prefect of Tongzhou finishes the investigation.”
Huh?
Qi Zhen thought that was a little odd.
Qi Yuan treasured Ah Huang dearly, always keeping the dog by her side and raising it with care.
As for this spotted dog—though he didn’t know where she got it from—just by how familiar she was with it, it was clearly not just an ordinary mutt.
And now she was just… leaving it here?
But Qi Zhen had long since gotten used to following whatever Qi Yuan said.
Since she said leave the dog here for now, he nodded. “Alright. It’s a mess here anyway. Who knows what kind of nonsense the Tian family will spout later? Better you go home first.”
As he spoke, he waved over his own carriage, helped Qi Yuan into it, then mounted his horse to ride alongside.
Feng Caiwei watched them coldly as they departed, slowly exhaling from deep within her chest.
A cursed star—someone born without any fate to speak of—and yet so many people were blind enough to treat her like a precious treasure.
She really didn’t understand what kind of witchcraft this girl possessed!
But now that she was gone, it was time to act.
Feng Caiwei stood up with Xiuyi’s help and said coldly, “Let’s go.”
Xiuyi was worried. “My lady, your leg is injured, it’ll be hard for you to move—maybe you should…”
Feng Caiwei snorted. “Do you even know where the Tian family is?”
She’d chosen Tian Baoci for a reason.
And she was very familiar with this estate of the Tian family.
Earlier, Tian Bozhi and Xiao Jingzhao had been quarreling for ages. In the end, the two of them were dragged by a crowd into the rear courtyard.
That was clearly the Tian family’s private quarters.
If her guess was right, something had happened in Tian Baoci’s own rooms, which was why everyone had headed there.
What Feng Caiwei needed to do now was simple: send Qi Yuan’s wretched spotted dog into that part of the estate.
That dog was vicious. If it got into the inner courtyard, it wouldn’t be biting just anyone.
She raised a brow at Xiuyi. “Be ready. Have our men drive the dog toward the northwest corner. As long as it goes through the side gate, that’ll be enough.”
Dogs scare easily—and once frightened, they lose control.
That’s what she wanted: for it to go wild.
Everything was already a mess. Might as well stir it up even more.
Xiuyi quickly agreed and went off to gather their men.
Meanwhile, Feng Caiwei slowly sat down beside the small room where Qi Yuan and the Qi family had been earlier.
She lifted the curtain and spotted the caged spotted dog.
Sure enough, Qi Yuan had locked it up.
She sneered at the dog, her expression twisting with malice.
It was this dog. This d*mn dog ruined everything.
But that was fine. Since it had messed everything up, let it raise hell one more time.
It hadn’t been easy setting everything up—finding a fool like Tian Baoci, someone so perfectly suited to clash with Qi Yuan and cause this huge incident.
She wasn’t going to let it all end like this. She was going to fan the flames.
Burn Qi Yuan to death.
Inside the cage, the spotted dog began to grow restless. As Feng Caiwei drew closer, it barked sharply and stood up, growling at her.
Feng Caiwei didn’t care in the slightest. She pulled her lips into a cold smile. “No need to get worked up. You’ll be free soon.”
She stepped forward again.
Just then, the door suddenly opened—and a light chuckle drifted in.
Almost at the exact moment the laughter sounded, the spotted dog immediately calmed down, sat back down, and began wagging its tail.
Feng Caiwei felt a chill shoot up her spine. The smile vanished from her face.
She spun around—and saw Qi Yuan.
Qi Yuan?!
She hadn’t left?!
Qi Yuan leaned against the doorframe, looking at her calmly. “Miss Feng must be curious, right? I clearly said I was leaving, so why did I suddenly come back?”
Feng Caiwei didn’t feel curious at all. She understood immediately. “You tricked me?! You never intended to leave—you just wanted to lure me out?!”
This devious b*tch!
Qi Yuan couldn’t help but laugh. “Why would I need to lure you out? You never left this place to begin with. What would be the point of luring you out?”
Feng Caiwei couldn’t even fake a smile. Her whole body went cold. Then suddenly, realization struck: “You wanted to lure my people out?!”
She’d told Xiuyi to summon everyone so they could stir up chaos and drag Qi Yuan into it.
But she’d walked right into Qi Yuan’s trap!
Qi Yuan arched an eyebrow and openly admitted it. “I never had anything against you, Miss Feng. Really, if you think about it, I’ve never done anything to wrong you. But you… from the start, you treated me as an enemy.”
Qi Yuan didn’t particularly like killing women.
Of course, that didn’t mean she never did—after all, people like Madam Lu were dead by her own hand.
But she was definitely more lenient toward women.
As for slandering someone’s virtue—she had no interest in that sort of thing.
However, her patience had its limits.
Push her too far, and she would kill.
Feng Caiwei had crossed the line—scheming against Shen Jialang and Qi Yunzhi.
In Qi Yuan’s eyes, that was unforgivable.
She had once thought the grudges of a past life should stay in the past. Back then, she’d blamed Xiao Yunting—believing he had betrayed her.
But reality showed that some people would always make the same choices, no matter how much the circumstances changed.
People like Feng Caiwei.
Feng Caiwei couldn’t hold back her hatred. “Stop pretending to be so noble! I told you before—not everything belongs to you. But you still insisted on fighting me for it!”
Qi Yuan tsked and chuckled lightly. “You done?”
Feng Caiwei, shaking with fury, was about to curse again when a sharp whoosh cut through the air.
She instinctively turned her head—and saw that the cage door had been opened.
Inside were multiple dogs, all locked up until now. Once freed, they burst out in a frenzy.
One of them lunged straight for her.
Feng Caiwei screamed in terror.
Qi Yuan gave her a cold glance—then calmly shut the door behind her.
Those who play with fire must be prepared to be burned.
Do wrong—pay the price.
People like Feng Caiwei would never stop causing trouble. Always picking fights. Always seeking to harm.
Qi Yuan might be strong, but she was still human—and there were times she couldn’t be in the capital or around loved ones to stop this viper.
In that case, ending it once and for all was the safest route.
Feng Caiwei’s screams filled the room.
Qi Yuan lowered her gaze, turned away, and slipped around the corner—climbing the steps into the corridor.
