The Cutest in the Galaxy Chapter 20

Star Pirate Fasite.

He is hailed as one of the most ruthless star pirates of the past decade. After defecting from the country, he remained active on interstellar battlefields. With a 3S-level spiritual power, a heavily modified warship, and a brutally violent style, he earned another nickname—“The Executioner.”

Many in the audience instinctively stood up, with the fastest responders being the principals of the two schools.

Paxi’s expression was extremely grim. “How did Fasite manage to log into the military’s simulated combat network?”

But no matter how anxious they were, the military’s network could only be handled by the military.

This major security breach immediately alarmed the military’s upper ranks. Yise personally stepped in and arrived at the most heavily secured command center.

In the vast control room, hundreds of personnel were checking the system simultaneously.

“Our people can’t get in,” a security officer said with a dark face. “The logout module is also malfunctioning.”

Someone had logged in using an internal military account and was modifying permissions. At the same time, several top-tier hackers were launching attacks on the system.

This was a premeditated, coordinated operation.

Yise said coldly, “Track the account responsible for the unauthorized login.”

The security officer had already located it. “It’s Lieutenant Mike’s account.”

Not even three minutes after those words fell, Lieutenant Mike’s residence in the Imperial Capital was surrounded in layers. But the place had long since been emptied.

Working in the military meant handing over one’s passport, and entire families were forbidden from leaving the Empire at the same time. All locations Mike could possibly flee to were immediately subjected to a carpet search. Soon, soldiers found his wife and child, but Mike himself was nowhere to be found.

“B*stard! He used his family as a smokescreen.” The search team immediately reported this up the chain of command.

In the control room, Yise issued three orders:

  1. “Seal the borders.”

  2. “Thoroughly investigate all individuals leaving the Empire.”

  3. “If the target is found—kill on sight if necessary.”

Mike didn’t become a lieutenant for nothing—he was no weakling, and capturing him alive would be difficult. Yise then asked, “How long until the network is restored?”

“Fifteen minutes at the earliest,” the sweating security officer answered. That the military had bred a traitor colluding with a star pirate was beyond belief.

He couldn’t understand why someone would throw away their rank just to side with star pirates.

All freshmen currently participating in the simulated battle were receiving constant red alerts on their wristbands, instructing them to hide immediately and wait for rescue.

Wu Zhi tried using his spiritual power to control his wristband, then manually tapped the screen, but the result was the same: “Forced logout unavailable.”

Worse still, the basic communication functions were down—they had no way of knowing where their teammates were. Di Yuansi, who had stopped hiding, appeared beside them and said in a low voice, “Even if you could reach them, it wouldn’t help.”

In such conditions, no one dared take the risk of regrouping.

While speaking, he kept his eye on Su Cha. No matter how calm one seemed, facing a notorious star pirate without fear was impossible. He worried Su Cha’s emotions might spiral out of control.

But Su Cha remained exceptionally calm. “This star pirate—he’s challenging the entire Empire alone?”

“Isn’t that what lunatics do? There’s no logic to them.”

Su Cha disagreed. Being a star pirate wasn’t just about going berserk—you’d die a hundred times over like that.

If the attacker’s goal was a large-scale terror strike, the obvious target would’ve been the final battle featuring students from ten elite schools. But right now, only two schools were involved. Even if something happened, the impact on the Empire or even the schools would be limited.

Just then, Su Cha’s wristband flickered. Ji Tianjin’s voice came through faintly: “Spirit Form… outskirts…”

The signal cut off again.

This transmission was made possible by Rong Shao using some technical trick, but they were also busy running for their lives and couldn’t maintain contact.

Wu Zhi gave a bitter laugh. “If the star pirate’s spirit form isn’t here, we might hold on a bit longer.”

The situation was grim. None of them had awakened yet. Even if all ten thousand freshmen gathered, the result would still be one-sided slaughter.

Su Cha leaned against the cold wall, carefully extending half a hand outside. “The wind… feels wrong.”

Two airflows were pushing against each other from opposite directions.

“That’s spiritual power,” Wu Zhi said, closing his eyes. “Fasite’s spiritual power has fully spread—it’s covering the entire city. No matter where we hide, he’ll sense us.”

“He’s playing cat and mouse.”

A thunderous boom cut him off.

Flames erupted in the distance.

Fasite stood atop a tall tower, holding a student in his hand. The fire attracted mutated beasts. The next moment, he casually flung the student into the air like a projectile. The student’s spirit form—a pangolin—tried to block the attack, but Fasite crushed it. The student died instantly.

Fasite grinned, and moments later, grabbed three or four more students and repeated the process.

“Monster!” Wu Shui trembled with rage, seeing freshmen being fed to beasts like livestock.

Di Yuansi held her back. “Charging out is useless.”

It would be suicide. The only hope was to wait for reinforcements—if even one person could survive, it was worth it.

Su Cha’s senses were sharp. He noticed that Fasite had seemed to smile in his direction.

Rumors had spread lately that the trial might be held early. A sudden catastrophe like this would divert public attention. The Empire would retaliate against star pirates to appease the masses. The Trial might get postponed. And if Fasite killed him during this chaos, it’d be killing two birds with one stone.

Fasite wasn’t the kind of man to be satisfied with a few kills.

His spiritual power enveloped an entire building, shaking it to the brink of collapse. The hiding freshmen were forced out. From one building to a plaza, Fasite corralled hundreds with sheer pressure.

As they tried to break the spiritual barrier trapping them, a student was suddenly stabbed through the shoulder. Had he moved a second slower, he’d be dead.

His attacker’s eyes were vacant, muscles rigid—as if locked in a battle against himself.

This spread across the plaza quickly. This was why Di Yuansi had worried about Su Cha’s mental state earlier—the weaker your mental defenses, the easier it was to be controlled. Fasite had invaded the minds of some students, turning them on each other.

A trembling nightingale flew into the ruined building—it was a spirit form sent earlier to scout for beast nests.

“Did you find anything?” Su Cha suddenly asked.

At this point, who cared about the competition?

But Su Cha insisted. Wu Shui snapped back to her senses and reported the clues the nightingale had gathered.

Meanwhile, Fasite had grown bored of the same routine. A flash of irritation passed through his eyes. He raised his hand to wipe everyone out at once.

In the stands, many were trembling with rage at the bloody, ruthless scene. Some couldn’t bear to watch and turned their heads. Just then, someone burst out from the ruined building.

It was Su Cha.

“Fatesi! If you’ve got guts, come after me!”

He shouted while running.

The chaos in the plaza continued, but Su Cha screamed at the top of his lungs, “Fatesi! Are you too scared to chase me?!”

“Fatesi!”

In the stands, Su Cha’s self-sacrifice stunned everyone.

His fragile body ran desperately through the streets, as if racing death itself.

Someone wiped tears from their eyes. “What a brave kid. But his name is Fasite.”

It wasn’t Su Cha’s fault—he’d only heard the star pirate’s name once. In that tense, high-stakes moment, he was trying to analyze the situation and think of escape routes.

“Fatesi!” Su Cha was still yelling.

If his theory was correct, the star pirate would never let him live. After killing the others, he’d come for him. Rather than wait to die, better to take a chance. Even failure might buy others time.

A terrifying force surged up behind him like a giant hand from the sky, ready to slam Su Cha into the ground.

From the distant tower, Fasite’s gaze was like that of a god watching a stupid ant.

But this time, Fasite miscalculated. His spiritual power hit something and bounced off—Su Cha’s demonic energy had protected him once.

That fleeting contact nearly shattered the shield. With no choice, Su Cha burned all his remaining demonic energy, accelerating with everything he had, sprinting madly toward the city’s edge.

Su Cha’s speed reached its peak. Along the way, he gripped the pendant tightly to prevent any sudden attacks from strange beasts.

The city gate wasn’t far. Based on Wu Zhi’s earlier spiritual probe, heading east across the railway would lead into a valley—where a strange beast nest lay.

The presence behind him drew closer and closer. Su Cha began to struggle. Shortly after bursting through the city gates, Fasite’s spiritual power shot out like a steel wire—one sharp end ruthlessly pierced through half of Su Cha’s shoulder blade.

The moment the sharp pain hit, Su Cha’s face turned deathly pale. Still, he didn’t look back, just kept running forward, blood dripping down at every step.

Fasite noticed the direction Su Cha was running and immediately saw through his plan—he wanted to lure him into the beast den and go down together in a blaze.

“Stupid.”

An imperial military academy actually produced such a naive student.

The strange beasts in simulation battles were nowhere near as dangerous as those in the real world. With his strength, even if he entered the heart of the beast den, he could absolutely retreat unscathed.

Su Cha kept running desperately forward.

The mountain seemed both near and far. The distance between them was closing fast. The bloody wound in his shoulder reminded Su Cha not to harbor false hope. If Fasite launched another mental attack, he might not be so lucky—the next strike could pierce his brain.

“Cuckoo V40, initiate combat mode.”

This time, Su Cha had made some preparations—at least he’d learned to resist with spiritual power.

【Mental power insufficient. Forcing combat mode may cause irreversible damage. Proceed?】

“Yes.”

The moment the words left his mouth, it felt like thousands of needles stabbed into his brain. In combat mode, every one of Su Cha’s muscles moved with precision. The pain blurred his vision, but his survival instinct was overwhelming. Even though everything was a blur, he never stopped running.

With combat mode enhancing him, his speed surged again.

One thousand meters. Eight hundred meters. When he finally burst into the valley entrance, Su Cha was almost completely exhausted.

“Not bad speed.”

Fasite walked in from behind, barely panting. He had slowed down, and the look in his eyes—half amusement, half murderous intent—was hard to distinguish.

Admiring Su Cha’s ragged state, the curve of Fasite’s lips slowly widened. “So many strange beasts, yet none have attacked you. Disappointed?”

Strange beasts had intelligence. The strongest among them were nearly as smart as humans. The overwhelming pressure of Fasite’s spiritual power had put the valley on alert—many beasts chose to temporarily hibernate.

Like a cold, death-dealing god, Fasite approached step by step.

In the spectator stands, the audience couldn’t sit still. Fury clenched their hearts—they vowed the star pirate would pay in blood.

Su Cha was still struggling like a trapped beast, doing everything he could to widen the distance. He pressed the groove on his ring, grabbed a pot of plants, and charged forward—fully activating the tiger pelt grass.

Ordinary beasts were no match for Fasite. When in danger, they’d avoid; when hurt, they’d recoil.

But irrational beasts? That was another story.

“Come on, beasts—”

In that instant, the whole valley came alive with restless movement.

Tiger pelt grass had little smell and was harmless to humans. Fasite’s detector didn’t raise any alerts, but his instincts told him something was off. Twisted howls echoed in the distance—not only on the ground, but also in the sky as winged beasts circled above, casting huge shadows over the valley.

A beast in heat was nothing to provoke—let alone a valley full of them. To them, every creature was a rival. And the one closest? Fasite.

“ROAR—” A strange beast charged him madly, its terrifyingly serrated legs slashing the ground.

Fasite dodged and dove, slicing off the beast’s leg cleanly. But instead of retreating in pain, the beast grew even more frenzied. At the same time, another beast lunged at him from behind—only to be bitten in the throat by yet another.

Mutual slaughter was a good thing—but they blocked off Fasite’s escape route.

After killing two strange beasts and carving a path through blood, Fasite was instantly regarded as one of the strongest competitors vying for a mate. Even the more distant and slightly rational beasts prioritized targeting the “aberrant” Fasite.

Desire kept assaulting their senses. In their eyes, Fasite shifted constantly—prey one moment, a rival the next.

“Kill him, kill him…” Su Cha’s voice wasn’t loud, but for someone like Fasite with powerful mental strength, it came through crystal clear.

The turn of events came too suddenly. Fasite snapped his head up and saw Su Cha standing in the distance holding a flower bouquet… The young man’s body swayed as if he might collapse from exhaustion at any moment, but his gaze was disdainful—identical to the look Fasite had shown earlier atop the tower.

The strange beasts didn’t attack Su Cha. Fasite narrowed his eyes and immediately moved toward him.

Beep beep—

“Poison detected…”

Beep beep—

“Highly toxic…”

The detector blared alarms frantically.

Poison wasn’t usually a problem for those with strong mental strength. But Su Cha was an exception—he pushed the Overlord Flower’s toxicity to the limit. Even Fasite couldn’t withstand it at close range.

One step forward meant poison. One step back meant a tide of beasts.

Fasite’s expression twisted hideously.

While hesitating, he was once again forced into the combat zone of two battling strange beasts.

Su Cha deactivated combat mode. Using the Overlord Flower’s calming effects, he cautiously approached an area once occupied by a female beast. Carefully using his spiritual power to wrap the lingering scent, he mixed it with the floral scent of tiger pelt grass and wafted it over—timed for when Fasite was too engaged in battle to notice.

After doing all that, Su Cha could no longer stand and collapsed to the ground.

The beast fighting Fasite had crimson eyes and suddenly let out a cry incomprehensible to humans—You smell so good!

Several beasts grew excited—So fragrant! You smell amazing!

What were they doing?

Still unaware of Su Cha’s trick, Fasite realized something was wrong as more and more beasts surged forward. He recalled his spiritual form to block two incoming beasts and retreated at top speed.

The beasts chased him relentlessly.

The line of strange beasts chasing Fasite stretched from one end of the mountain to the other—far more than the ones chasing the female earlier. After all, the female could fly. Fasite couldn’t escape even if he had wings.

At one point, one beast crashed into another diving from above. What was once a coordinated hunt turned into chaos as they fought each other over Fasite. Trapped and surrounded, Fasite couldn’t get away. Crumbling rocks and landslides from the cliffs became additional threats.

Su Cha was truly something else. His ribs throbbed with every breath, but he still couldn’t help mocking, “Hurry up and tell them… ‘Stop fighting over me!’ Go on, say it…”

Fasite swore he would tear him to pieces later.

A man and his python sprinted madly. Against the rabid beasts, the python—a manifestation of Fasite’s spiritual power—ran faster than its master.

….

Everyone had thought Su Cha was dead for sure. But in the blink of an eye, the mountains were filled with crazed strange beasts… all chasing Fasite in courtship. The spectators who had stood in anticipation gaped and slowly sat back down.

“Are the beasts in heat because of that flowerpot?”

“Then why aren’t they attacking Su Cha?”

The Overlord Flower and tiger pelt grass weren’t rare. Most people present recognized them. Tiger pelt grass could indeed induce mating behavior, but the Overlord Flower was just toxic.

“Is the ‘treasure boy’ nickname because even strange beasts don’t want to hurt him?”

“What nonsense are you talking about?”

Even the speaker felt silly, but being challenged made him reflexively retort, “It’s a big world. Haven’t you seen Fasite getting chased all over the mountains?”

….

Human strength has limits. There were too many beasts to kill them all. Fasite’s eyes darkened as he searched for a way out. The scent of the female beast dispersed in the wind during the chase, finally calming the crazed horde.

Around the same time, Fasite withdrew his spiritual form, lowered his presence as much as possible, and moved toward an area with fewer beasts.

One strange beast stood beside a pile of corpses—it had gained mating rights. Discovering it was being watched, it grew furious. Torn between continuing and tearing Fasite apart, it let out a warning roar.

Fasite sliced open his palm.

Beasts had a primal hunger for flesh and blood. The blood of a 3S-level powerhouse contained energy they couldn’t resist.

Fasite was ruthless to his enemies, but even more so to himself. A little blood wouldn’t be enough to lure them. He let more blood flow, then manipulated it toward Su Cha.

Fasite flung a “blood chunk.” Two beasts darted after it like hounds.

Su Cha rolled on the ground to dodge—just barely avoiding collision. Even then, a rib was broken on impact.

Struggling to sit upright with the flowerpot in his arms, Su Cha forced the Overlord Flower’s fragrance into the air before the beasts reverted to their savage selves.

Blood dripped through the air. The beasts couldn’t drink enough.

Once done, the two beasts didn’t linger and returned to their original positions.

Fasite tried luring other beasts to Su Cha the same way, but found only those that had already vented their heat were drawn to his blood. The rest still prioritized mating.

So he set his sights back on the original pair. Whatever Su Cha had done to avoid the attacks, Fasite was sure it was limited—he could wear him down.

Su Cha, with a broken rib, had no strength to move. His only lifeline was the flower in his arms.

Fasite sneered and used the same method to send beasts after Su Cha again.

He had resumed his initial hunter stance—back in control.

As expected, the incoming beasts forced Su Cha to intensify the flower’s fragrance, growing more exhausted.

Just as Su Cha was about to give out, the two beasts unexpectedly left his side. Fasite killed one that was attacking him and sneered, “Let’s see if you’re this lucky again.”

He was about to lead more beasts to Su Cha using blood, but the two beasts suddenly turned back, opened their bloodied maws, and slashed Fasite like lightning.

The attack came too fast. Fresh from a fight, Fasite’s arm was torn open, exposing stark white bone.

From a distance, Su Cha looked at Fasite like he was a moron and spat out two words: “Trash.”

Because of the Overlord Flower, each time a beast got close to Su Cha it weakened—so they changed targets. Once might be chance. Twice was tolerance. By the third time, the slap from the beast was practically kindness.

The competition had reached a fever pitch.

Fasite might be powerful, but he couldn’t handle a whole valley of crazed beasts. Likewise, no matter how capable Su Cha was, he couldn’t rely on the flower to survive forever.

The toxins around Su Cha were too intense, causing slowed movements. Previously wary of the strange beasts, Fasite hadn’t dared to approach recklessly. But as time passed, any further delay might bring the military, forcing Fasite to weigh his options—should he take the risk and get closer?

Or should he stick to the plan of exhausting the opponent?

Just then, Su Cha took off his raincoat. Calm and composed, he silently hypnotized himself: “I am a flower. I am a flower. The strange beasts can’t see me. They can’t see me.”

Fasite: “…”

The key point was—the beasts really did seem to not see him.

In fact, Su Cha’s natural floral scent also had a calming effect. He no longer had much spiritual strength to activate the Overlord flower, so he could only scatter medicinal powder around him and rely on the scent to hold on for a little longer.

Su Cha’s outward composure gave Fasite the illusion that he could still hang on.

Which was exactly the effect Su Cha wanted.

“I’ve already been through h*ll on earth. No amount of torture scares me. We’re both lunatics—let’s see who breaks first. But Fatesi” Su Cha looked up. “Are you sure you want to keep playing with me?”

“It’s Fasite.”

Fasite finally couldn’t hold it in, practically grinding his teeth as he corrected him.

Su Cha’s face was expressionless: “Oh.”

Suddenly, Fasite’s personal AI buzzed. A message came in demanding why he was stalling and urging him to finish the target off.

Fasite wasn’t stupid. The pressure meant the military was close to restoring the network.

Su Cha suddenly lowered his voice, “All the secrets I know about the live-body project are stored in the cloud. If I don’t input the password regularly, it’ll auto-send.”

His voice was barely a whisper, like a breeze—but with 3S-level mental strength, Fasite heard every word clearly.

The risks and difficulty of contacting or bribing a space pirate were enormous. Su Cha suspected Fasite might very well be a member of the live-body project himself—just deeply embedded.

That one sentence changed the weight of Fasite’s considerations. If Su Cha had said that at the beginning, Fasite wouldn’t have believed him and would’ve killed him without hesitation. But after this drawn-out, exhausting fight and blood loss, he hesitated.

Unfortunately, in the end, Su Cha’s words failed to shake him. At that very moment, even fate seemed to be on Fasite’s side. So many beasts had been killed in earlier battles that Fasite was slowly freeing up his hands.

His deep blue eyes sparkled with murderous intent—he had never wanted to kill someone so badly.

The AI buzzed again.

[What’s going on?]

At first, Fasite didn’t understand the message—until his watch kept flashing:

[Fasite, where are you? We can’t locate you.]

At that moment, the arena’s display screen was also completely blurred.

Main control room.

Yise’s face was grim. “Didn’t they say the network was almost restored?”

Security officer: “It’s not a network issue. Too many strange beasts are in heat—the entire valley’s data module got blocked.”

In the simulated battle livestream, all the beasts were doing indescribable things, pushing the adult content limits.

Yise: “Widen the permissions.”

The officer shook his head. “We already set it to adult-level access. Still not working.”

Even holographic networks have a bottom line.

The data was corrupted, the entire screen covered in mosaics.

The audience couldn’t see what was happening with Su Cha, and the people behind the scenes couldn’t locate Fasite, making it impossible to arrange a teleport extraction for him.

Su Cha is a flower demon. After completing his term of service, the system agrees to grant him a new life as a universally adored favorite. “I carefully chose a place for you. The species that live there are known for their brutality, but their birthrate for offspring is extremely low—every cub is a treasured being they would protect with their lives.” “Your new identity is a rare and precious cub.” However, an error occurred during the teleportation process, and Su Cha was sent to another planet: Galan Star. Completely unaware of the mistake, Su Cha assumes he’s living out his beloved group-pampering script and stops a passing iron-blooded general leading his troops. With a gentle smile, Su Cha hints madly: The cub is here—hurry and pamper me to death! The people of Galan Star are born without a sense of smell, are cold-blooded and warlike, and hate weak things the most. Until one day, they smelled the fragrance of a flower. “!!!” Fog Star and Galan Star are scheduled for a cultural exchange, shocking the galaxy. But within a day, the "exchange" escalates into military confrontation. It’s said that the war started over a single cub. The system, having finally fixed the teleportation program, rushes back to find its old partner—only to see countless warships floating in the sky, with war on the verge of eruption. The system is horrified: “What happened?!” Su Cha gives a weak smile: “Don’t ask. If you must know—it’s a Star Wars situation.”  “……” Note: This story starts off as a lighthearted coming-of-age tale with a satisfying and refreshing tone. The protagonist (shou) appears gentle but is cunning underneath.
