What’s harder than holding back gossip is holding back the urge to share it.
From the moment the projection of Su Yeling’s bleeding legs appeared, at least half of those present had already compiled a list of people they wanted to share this with in their minds.
But they kept their composure. Though they were tempted, it wouldn’t be appropriate to openly embarrass the Flower Demon Clan.
“Hurry up! Eight camera angles—make sure to capture everything.”
Not everyone had such reservations. Xue Li, as a competitor, couldn’t wait to stomp Su Yeling into the ground. She grinned from ear to ear, playing with a little white flower on her wrist while instructing her subordinates to keep filming.
The little white flower faced the camera and chattered away, energetically recounting the ancient gossip. Its leaves trembled furiously as it spoke.
With Xue Li’s protection, it didn’t have to lower its voice. It was currently the only one who could openly spread gossip without fear.
“Can you believe it? They each found a substitute to take their punishment!”
“Careful,” Xue Li warned, afraid the flower would talk itself to death.
These fragmented spirit forms contained very little energy to begin with, and when standing on the verge of disappearing, the flower’s fragile but furious tone made it sound especially believable.
Even Su Cha was briefly surprised. Such a talkative mouth—if it hadn’t been for the spaceship hijacking, it had actually intended to stay mute its whole life? How did it ever plan to hold it in?
As for Ji Tianjin, he had finally sobered up from hearing the words “my lover.” Even the talking spirit form didn’t shake him much anymore.
“We should get ready to leave,” he reminded.
At this point, calling the space folder ‘unstable’ was too mild. This dimension’s space was already on the brink of collapse.
Su Cha knew when to quit: “Let’s go.”
There was no way Su Yeling would let them leave unscathed. His arm muscles trembled violently, his eyes cold and vicious, like a demon crawling out from the pits of h*ll.
He decisively forced out two more drops of heart’s blood, directly using the resonance between his inner demon bead and the blood mist to capture any suspicious fluctuations in the air.
The traces left by the earlier petal cuts were still there. The blood mist slowly seeped into another dimension.
Su Yeling narrowed his eyes: “Found you.”
A flash of light shot from his fingertips, covering the blood mist. This time, the condensed blood blade was nearly solid, and it cleaved directly along the crack.
The balance was completely destroyed. The vortex of air currents in Su Cha’s dimension spread wildly—there was no room to dodge.
Slash.
He could hear the sound of some protective winds tearing through flesh. Luckily, his spiritual defense held—although the numerous small cuts looked terrifying, none of the injuries were truly severe.
“I’ll draw him away. Let’s meet at the parking lot.”
“No need.” Su Cha stopped Ji Tianjin, as a vine suddenly pierced through from another dimension, aiming straight at Su Yeling’s lower body.
Having been injured there many times, Su Yeling instinctively stepped back and quickly formed hand seals.
“Calm down!” An elder of the Flower Demon Clan recognized the forbidden technique he was using. It wouldn’t destroy him, but it would definitely cause significant self-harm.
Su Yeling sneered: “Today, they won’t leave alive.”
“Stop now!”
He ignored the elder’s shouts and forcefully gathered more energy at his fingertips.
“Ye—”
A familiar voice came from not far away. It was Xia Yu calling him, but she quickly realized her mistake and swallowed the rest of her sentence, her expression tinged with panic.
Su Yeling thought she was trying to warn him of an ambush and focused his attention on his surroundings.
“Oh my, he’s bleeding again,” Xue Li called out with exaggerated surprise.
The little white flower mimicked her like a parrot, repeating it three times before adding, “A man bleeds but doesn’t shed tears.”
Su Yeling looked down, following his gaze past his sides, and finally realized that a rather awkward area of his pants was now stained red.
His wounds had never fully healed, and using that harmful forbidden spell had worsened them.
The elder scolded in frustration: “I told you to stop!”
Why was he so stubborn? In his rage, Su Yeling couldn’t even feel the pain. What truly hurt him was not the wound, but the return of those mocking, scrutinizing gazes.
As the air fell into silence, the tiny white flower stood up again and solemnly asked, “Miss Xia Yu, would you marry this useless man? Whether he’s useless now or even more useless in the future—”
His hand-seal was momentarily broken. Su Yeling, completely enraged, hurled his unfinished spell directly at the flower.
The little white flower dispersed with calm composure: “I’ll be back.”
The guests were stunned. At first, they thought the flower was some sort of special projection spell, but now it didn’t seem like that at all.
Unfortunately, Su Cha didn’t have time to laugh. As soon as an opportunity appeared, he pulled Ji Tianjin and escaped.
Surprisingly, Ji Tianjin was a step slower. When Su Cha looked back, he found him fiddling with his communicator.
“Focus, we’re literally escaping right now.”
Ji Tianjin replied with a simple “Mm,” still typing. “Let me send out the video first.”
The entire bloody sequence of Su Yeling’s two injuries—unedited—was casually sent to the media. Ji Tianjin quickly scrolled through suggested contacts and sent the video to every influencer he could find.
The content was offered for free with no strings attached. One of the recipients even replied:
【Living Bodhisattva!】
Su Cha caught the message from the corner of his eye and twitched. “Bodhisattva, don’t forget to hide your identity.”
Ji Tianjin didn’t even look up. “Okay.”
Following their pre-planned escape route, the two withdrew in an orderly fashion. Su Cha suddenly felt an itch: “When we get back, I’m going to register an account too.”
The situation hadn’t gone fully viral yet—by the time they broke out of the encirclement, it would be the perfect moment.
Ji Tianjin’s spiritual power spread across the hotel, catching the sound of footsteps in pursuit. They had inevitably picked up some of Su Yeling’s blood mist, which the Flower Demon Clan would easily track by scent.
The space folder was now far too unstable. The moment they exited the hotel, they didn’t dare to pause and immediately returned to the real-world dimension.
Ji Tianjin released his spirit form—a white tiger that dragged the stolen treasures from the Flower Demon Clan, scattering them along the city streets.
Pedestrians stopped, astonished, pointing to the sky: “A divine beast?”
Those with some cultivation experience, however, charged forward to snatch the treasures.
Su Cha clasped his hands and bowed toward the void: “For the sake of our generous donations, please bless our successful escape.” Of course, both of them knew they weren’t actually praying—the purpose of flinging treasures everywhere was to create chaos. The more chaotic, the better. Amid the stampede, the Flower Demon Clan wouldn’t be able to track them easily.
Some residents on both sides of the street opened their windows and saw two people holding hands, sprinting toward the street’s end, while a crowd surged in the opposite direction, caught in the frenzy over the scattered treasures.
The entire intersection was packed tight, and even the cars on the road had stopped.
“Filming a movie?” A resident blinked. “What kind of crew has this kind of budget?”
The energy signature in the area was chaotic and fragmented. The Flower Demon Clan members used their powers to force a path through the crowd. Upon realizing the scattered treasures were their own lost artifacts, they immediately shouted, “Stop! Those are Flower Demon Clan treasures!”
Su Cha heard this as he turned the corner and almost burst out laughing.
The bystanders didn’t know that these were treasures the Flower Demon Clan had lost. Su Yeling had wanted to use the money from auctioning demon pills to build a good reputation in Tang City, but his image wasn’t even established yet and he probably already got labeled as domineering.
Those who didn’t know better might even think the Flower Demon Clan was trying to hoard everything for themselves.
Ji Tianjin asked, “Should we go to the Dihuai District or the Nanjiang District?”
Their previous hideout was definitely compromised. These were the two backup locations they’d planned beforehand: one was near the territory of Su Yeling’s rival, and the other was a district inhabited exclusively by powerful, influential humans where demon clans were strictly forbidden.
“Let’s go to Nanjiang,” Su Cha said. “Online, they call that place the Forbidden Zone for demon clans.”
No demons dared to risk entering Nanjiang, where exorcists gathered. Regardless of whether they had an entry permit, exorcists there had the authority to execute demons on sight. But there was also one danger—Xia’s family was based in Nanjiang.
Su Cha used his spiritual power to blur others’ perception of them. Outsiders could only sense that the two had an extraordinary aura but couldn’t see their faces clearly, assuming they were using some special magical artifact.
That wasn’t uncommon in Nanjiang. Celebrities often used similar means to stroll the streets in peace.
After circling the city for a long while, they finally found an internet café that wasn’t too crowded.
Su Cha spotted private booths and decisively said, “Overnight package.”
The attendant glanced at them. “ID cards.”
Su Cha confidently hooked an arm around Ji Tianjin’s shoulder and tiptoed slightly to whisper, “Why do you think we’re not going to a hotel? We can’t show our faces. We need nightlife. We’ll pay ten times the rate.”
“…”
Successfully getting the couple’s booth, Su Cha walked in with his back straight, completely unapologetic.
The attendant shook his head, speechless: “Young people these days, really…”
Even ‘thick-skinned’ didn’t seem enough to describe these two.
As soon as they got in, Su Cha couldn’t wait to shut the door and power on the computer. “You think Su Yeling made it to the front page?”
Ji Tianjin took a few seconds, then hummed an acknowledgment.
Su Cha glanced over and noticed Ji Tianjin was… blushing a little.
Though he trained all year round, Ji Tianjin had pale, cool-toned skin, making the flush on his face particularly obvious.
“…”
He hadn’t felt awkward when he was speaking earlier, but seeing this now, even Su Cha started to feel a little self-conscious.
The awkwardness lingered until the homepage finally loaded.
The headline front and center was: “Breaking! Accident at Charity Auction.” The sidebar was also filled with non-stop pop-ups related to it. No matter where he clicked, the trending topics were all the same—it was impossible to ignore.
Su Yeling, who was famous in both human and demon circles, was now crashing and burning in both.
“These media outlets don’t know how to write headlines,” Su Cha clicked his tongue. “They completely missed the point.”
The real highlights were Su Yeling being crippled and Su Cha being falsely accused.
“Here’s one.” Ji Tianjin pointed to his screen.
Su Cha leaned in: “Revenge Returns: The Opening Move Castrates Su Yeling!”
“…” Was that headline even serious?
Su Cha downloaded the most popular social app of the moment. As expected, everywhere he looked were the two videos of Su Yeling getting injured. In just a short while, the comment count had already surpassed thirty thousand.
【 StarStar: Just asking—can he still recover? Any kind-hearted demon clan netizens willing to explain?】
Over 100,000 likes. Clearly, a lot of people were curious.
【KnifeToTheSky: Flowers can bloom again, but blooming again means starting cultivation all over. Don’t like this comment, I’m afraid they’ll trace me through the internet and kill me.】
The Flower Demon Clan immediately scrambled for PR: Thank you for your concern. Please don’t make malicious guesses. The injury is on the side of his leg.
Su Cha live-commented: 【I don’t believe it unless you provide actual photos as proof.】
Ji Tianjin gave a light cough.
Su Cha waved him off: “Relax, Su Yeling wouldn’t go so far as to drop his pants for a public inspection.”
Searching through the news, most outlets were focusing on the fact that Su Yeling had been crippled. His past with Xia Yu was quickly getting suppressed.
Su Cha frowned and tapped his fingers on the table. “The Xia family’s trying to use Su Yeling’s downfall as a distraction.”
If people focused solely on the fact that he’d been crippled, Su Yeling could still position himself as a victim. If he was shameless enough, he might even earn some public sympathy.
Ji Tianjin said calmly, “They won’t be able to suppress it.”
Su Cha raised an eyebrow.
Ji Tianjin showed him another trending tag: #Xue Li#.
She had directly uploaded the video of the little white flower’s chatter, captioned: “How could such a beast be of any great use?”
It was obvious Xue Li was pushing this hard, and the forces behind her were also helping, trying to seize this opportunity to eliminate Su Yeling as a competitor.
Su Cha said, “One’s suppressing the trend, the other’s buying it. Xue Li’s at a disadvantage.”
In terms of resources and influence in human society, the Flower Demon Clan had the upper hand.
Su Cha decided to play the good guy and support the underdog by personally making a PowerPoint.
Every slide’s background was a photo of Su Yeling and Xia Yu. He even thoughtfully arranged flower patterns around them into a big heart and, in bold black letters, briefly summarized their forbidden love story. He topped it off with a bittersweet background song about lovers who couldn’t be together.
Su Cha beamed, “If this showed up on a busy subway ad, wouldn’t that be interesting?”
Ji Tianjin calmly said, “Romantic love stories should be shared with the whole world.”
One subway ad wasn’t enough—overseas audiences deserved to appreciate it too.
The two exchanged glances. Su Cha reflected seriously: “My vision was too small.”
Ji Tianjin shook his head. “Repaying evil with kindness—you’ve already done well.”
Su Cha’s smile froze. When had he ever repaid evil with kindness?
Seeing his confusion, Ji Tianjin added casually, “You helped your enemy publicly declare his love and even helped him propose. That fully embodies the ‘love your enemy’ philosophy.”
In other words, if that’s not kindness, what is?
