The clouds had yet to clear, and on dark, windy nights like this, Su Cha always seemed to make earth-shattering decisions.
“Let’s go.” He looked at the spatial folding device in Ji Tianjin’s hand. “We can’t let your mechanical glove be sacrificed for nothing.”
Ji Tianjin finally understood: when Su Cha had always said he didn’t want to have anything more to do with them, it wasn’t all about revenge. It was that he didn’t want to meddle in the affairs of the Flower Demon Clan at all.
Su Cha wanted to play small against big, but Su Yeling was forcing him to use his trump card.
Thinking of it that way, Su Cha was truly pitiful.
Ji Tianjin sighed deeply, then activated the spatial folding device.
As soon as they entered the valley, the device immediately began to destabilize. Su Cha tensed up. As expected of an ancient formation—no matter the dimensional layer, it could still project its power.
The mountains were bathed in a soft radiance. Ji Tianjin had once briefly seen an aurora at twilight, and the sight of the flowers and grasses in this valley bore a striking resemblance to that grandeur.
Rare petal types, single-petaled roses—every variety was here, and each plant was much larger than usual. Some roses had even grown into towering trees.
Su Cha remarked, “The ones growing on the outskirts are usually the plants that get overlooked.”
Ji Tianjin nodded. He remembered Su Cha mentioning that camellias were considered the main bloodline of the Flower Demon Clan, and all other types, even after taking human form, were classified as branches. Suddenly curious, he asked, “Shouldn’t it be that a highly valued child would carry the clan name?”
There shouldn’t be another Su Cha in the Flower Demon Clan. Su Cha awkwardly laughed. “Is it possible that I was so useless that the clan couldn’t even bother to give me a proper name and just used ‘Cha’ (tea)?”
The title of “disgrace of the main bloodline” had followed him for years.
Ji Tianjin hadn’t expected this.
The Flower Demon Clan viewed camellias as orthodox, and the branches were treated poorly. Su Cha didn’t care about this concept of orthodoxy—he was going to nurture them all the same. The first thing he did was pull out a big bag of fertilizer.
A cursed memory flashed through Ji Tianjin’s mind—an annoyingly catchy commercial jingle. Before he realized it, he muttered aloud, “Jialejia fertilizer—really, really effective fertilizer.”
He quickly shook the memory away and gave Su Cha a deep look. “You actually carry this with you.”
“Well, I’m the spokesperson. You never know when it might come in handy.” Su Cha ripped open the bag and muttered, “It’s been over four years. Hope it’s not expired.”
Afraid of being torn apart by the ancient formation, he didn’t dare step out of the folding device. Instead, he used his spiritual power to scatter the Jialejia fertilizer across the land.
The once beautiful valley instantly lost its poetic atmosphere.
Lotus Magnolia appeared out of nowhere. “Is this what they mean by ‘raised with sh*t and piss’?”
Su Cha’s eyelid twitched violently. “Can you shut up?”
He was starting to miss that mute spirit form.
Su Cha’s hands were as beautiful as fine art. He slowly extended his spiritual power, spreading it to every corner of the valley, sensing which plants had the potential to awaken.
It was like they were finally basking in the sunlight essential for growth. Some of the plants began to stir.
Once he locked onto his targets, Su Cha moved to the next step: focusing all his energy to accelerate their growth.
Some plants visibly grew at an astonishing rate. Ji Tianjin sharply noticed the wind changing direction, clouds dispersing, and moonlight focusing entirely on one area.
Still unsatisfied, Su Cha poured even more spiritual power into the plants.
In terms of spiritual energy reserves, he actually surpassed Ji Tianjin. Back when he’d first awakened, Su Cha could force an Overlord Flower to bloom in a few days. Now, it was even easier.
Once he’d pushed them to the limit, Su Cha finally stopped.
“Let’s go. On to the next mountain.”
Same fertilizer, same process. Su Cha repeated the steps, even giving a little speech along the way.
“The Flower Demon Clan might discriminate against you, but I won’t. I’ll always be your father.”
Ji Tianjin coughed dryly, “Ahem…”
Su Cha tilted his head and asked seriously, “Do you want to be their godfather?”
The young man who could wield weapons and slay beasts was suddenly caught completely off guard.
“Sure.” After a few seconds, Ji Tianjin solemnly agreed.
Whatever could bring them closer, he’d say yes first and figure out the rest later.
Su Cha saw how tense he was and found it unexpectedly amusing. “Don’t overthink it. You just have one simple job.”
Ji Tianjin asked seriously, “What is it?”
“Naming them.”
The air instantly fell silent. After a pause, Ji Tianjin’s lips moved a few times before he finally asked tentatively, “Roughly how many per mountain?”
“Don’t be fooled by the thousands of plants you see. Only about a hundred per mountain actually have a chance to awaken.”
Ji Tianjin forced a smile. Seventy-two mountains—about eight thousand names.
The closer they got to the inner mountains, the less diversity there was. Only pure camellias filled the space, growing much better than the flowers from before. The main bloodline’s dominance was evident even from birth.
Su Cha clearly struggled more when infusing these camellias with spiritual power. The same amount of energy only had about one-third the effect compared to other plants.
Ji Tianjin reminded him, “Take it step by step.”
There was no need to burn himself out in one night.
Su Cha paused briefly but knew he still had spiritual reserves to spare.
Near dawn, Su Cha finally stopped.
The flowers and plants across the mountains all turned toward Su Cha’s direction, their leaves rustling as if showing affection. Ji Tianjin asked, “How long until they can take human form?”
“It’ll still take some time, but they’ve already been awakened and will soon be brought back to the clan.”
It was like planting countless sleeper agents in the Flower Demon Clan.
Soon, these little flower demons would eat the clan’s food, drink the clan’s water, and secretly report everything to him.
“Oh right, how’s the naming going?” Su Cha turned to ask.
Ji Tianjin fell silent and randomly pointed to one, “How about calling this one Su 666?”
Su Cha smiled. “What do you think?”
Ji Tianjin: “…I’ll think of something else.”
If they were going to do this, they were going to do it thoroughly.
As they’d planned, Su Cha later went back to the Flower Demon Clan. This time, the risk was much lower. Su Yeling and several elders were now in Tang City. The little flower demons had almost no presence in the clan and gathered mostly on the outskirts, spending their days quietly meditating and cultivating.
Su Cha quietly released his spiritual power, enveloping the nearby plants and trees that had reverted to their original forms for cultivation. They could clearly feel a foreign power flowing into them, yet did not instinctively resist. This peaceful aura brought them an unprecedented sense of security. The so-called feeling of enlightenment probably felt like this.
As time passed, the souls of the little flower demons were gradually soothed. Demons, by nature, act on instinct and desire—when they encounter a power they like that also strengthens them, they simply cannot resist.
Su Cha wasn’t in a hurry. He maintained a not-too-close, not-too-distant position while continuously feeding them energy, then temporarily withdrew.
Day after day passed. On the seventh day, a vibrantly colored camellia transformed into a small child and finally took the initiative to approach Su Cha.
“Who are you?”
Su Cha replied, “The one trying to save your brains.”
A special mental link was formed between them. In fact, if Su Cha wished, he could have easily used overwhelming spiritual power to briefly control the other’s thoughts. But he didn’t. He didn’t need to.
Mental connections are far more direct than blood ties. The little child gazed at Su Cha with deep trust.
“Are our brains broken?”
“Not yet.”
Su Cha squatted down and gently placed his hands on the child’s shoulders, speaking slowly: “My name is Su Cha.”
This name was ‘thunderously famous’ to any flower demon. The child, with his serious phoenix-shaped eyes, stared at Su Cha and asked, “Do you need us to help you escape?”
Su Cha skipped the question. “As long as even one flower demon lives, the Flower Demon Clan still exists. Isn’t that right?”
Demons mature quickly by nature—the little one immediately understood the meaning behind Su Cha’s words.
“Power and status… are all within your grasp.”
The child turned to look at his companions, then they all spoke together: “Daddy, as long as you’re happy.”
Su Cha’s fingers trembled slightly. When he actually heard those words, he felt momentarily faint. Ji Tianjin had unknowingly walked up behind him and supported him.
These little flower demons hadn’t even reached the age to be taught the Flower Demon Clan’s doctrines. They chose to help Su Cha without a trace of guilt.
In this high-tech age, it was easy to send messages. Su Cha left them his social media handle: “Direct message me if anything happens. Remember to delete the records promptly.”
Compared to making phone calls, this was much safer.
After leaving his final instructions, Su Cha and Ji Tianjin did not linger and left the territory of the Flower Demon Clan.
Many of the flower demon disciples ran to Tang City. Ironically, the closest province to the Danhe Realm, Dahe Province, became the safest place. Dahe was a chaotic mix of people and didn’t strictly enforce ID checks. The two found a decent hotel openly.
Compared to the underground tunnels, this place was paradise.
Ji Tianjin went out and bought a table full of delicious food: “Let’s rest for two days.”
Su Cha’s spiritual power had indeed been somewhat depleted from nurturing the plants. Even the aroma of food on the table couldn’t tempt him. He collapsed on the bed and immediately fell asleep.
He had just taken a shower, his hair still damp, when Ji Tianjin nudged him lightly: “Dry your hair before you sleep.”
Su Cha didn’t move.
Ji Tianjin sighed, took the hairdryer, propped Su Cha up against his own shoulder, and began to carefully blow-dry his hair.
Amazingly, Su Cha slept like a rock even amid the noise of the hairdryer.
But this, in itself, was a profound display of trust. Ji Tianjin’s lips curved slightly as he gently and patiently dried his hair.
Meanwhile, in Tang City, while Su Cha was enjoying his peaceful sleep, Su Yeling hadn’t slept for a long time.
“Still no news?”
The elder shook his head. “The recent violent incidents in the city were all confirmed to have no connection to Su Cha.”
Ever since the failed soul summoning, the elder had a bad feeling. He suspected Su Cha had become much stronger, but he hadn’t expected him to be this hard to deal with.
“No matter how powerful he is, he’s just one man. Even with his helper, he can’t stir up much trouble.”
Su Yeling’s voice was cold. “Contact the Beast Tamer Sect. If they’re willing to join forces, we won’t fight over the divine beast afterwards. Also, reach out to all the forces that have been on good terms with us—offer them generous benefits.”
After issuing all the instructions, Su Yeling sneered. “The Beast Tamer Sect’s spies are everywhere—I don’t believe they won’t find him.”
The elder nodded. “Before, we were out in the open while he was in the shadows, which naturally put us at a disadvantage. The Beast Tamer Sect can control birds, insects, and snakes—perfect for spying and tracking. They can help us turn this around.”
…
After two days of eating and sleeping, Su Cha finally felt like he’d come back to life.
When he turned on his phone, his private messages were almost exploding—it was the little flower demons from the Flower Demon Tribe, reporting almost every minor detail.
“Today the mountain patrol disciples all drank honey-flavored dew in the morning.”
“A tribe member named Su Su hooked up with the son of a powerful figure.”
“…”
Su Cha’s lips twitched—it didn’t need to be this detailed. Suddenly, his scrolling slowed.
“The Guardian Elder went out briefly, suspected of meeting with someone from the Beast Tamer Sect.”
People from the Beast Tamer Sect carry a distinct scent. When the elder returned, he had the same scent on him, which was noticed by a few of the little flower demons.
Ji Tianjin thought for a moment. “Probably for the white tiger.”
Rumors had been spreading that they possessed a divine beast.
Su Cha mused, “The Beast Tamer Sect isn’t easy to deal with. Su Yeling must be gathering all his power, ready to crush me at any cost.”
Ji Tianjin handed him an ice cream: “Cool off, chill out.”
Su Cha laughed instead. “I’m not mad. If he wants to play big, then I’ll find a way to crush him with this game.”
Since the Flower Demon Clan would no longer be wiped out, there was no need for him to keep holding back.
