The No. 1 Hunfen King in the Entire Server [Interstellar] Chapter 35

Antique Codex (14)

Lin Jing glared at Xu Wanzhi icily, feeling the urge to bite him. He had always been taught to be kind to others, but now he was realizing that some people simply weren’t human.

Safety was in the sky? But how the hell was this rusted-out submarine supposed to fly?

In the interstellar age, they had developed amphibious “flying submarines,” but those warships were designed specifically to balance the completely opposite needs of submerging and flying. They were light yet sturdy, adaptable and retractable—nothing like this clunky piece of scrap metal.

So in the end, they were still doomed.

Lin Jing usually had a good temper, but at this moment, he had had enough. Overwhelmed with frustration, he bit down on the finger still resting against his lips.

He had thought Xu Wanzhi would pull away, but instead, the guy just stayed still and let Lin Jing’s teeth sink in.

Lin Jing: “…” Speechless. He even hurt his own teeth in the process.

Xu Wanzhi chuckled, then casually withdrew his hand—but not before brushing a finger over Lin Jing’s teeth in a deliberately provocative gesture. “That was such a soft bite. Are you a cat or something?”

Lin Jing’s face turned icy. He turned his head away, refusing to say another word.

The onlookers: “…”

Seriously, could the two of them not flirt at a time like this?! Wasn’t their usual display of affection enough? Could they at least consider the rest of the team, who were all scared out of their minds?

Near the control room exit, Elena, who had been previously upset, now had a completely blank expression. She leaned against the doorframe, twirling a lock of her wine-red curls between her fingers. Her gaze was sharp as a snake’s tongue as she stared straight at the back of Xu Wanzhi’s head.

Xu Wanzhi, however, had already shifted gears. His playful attitude disappeared as he strode over and took a seat next to Lin Jing.

Lin Jing immediately tensed up like a cat with its tail stepped on. He shot Xu Wanzhi a wary glare. “What are you doing?”

Was he trying to speed up their demise? That seemed like something he’d do.

Xu Wanzhi replied lazily, “Going up.”

Lin Jing: “???”

Then, Lin Jing watched as Xu Wanzhi casually reached for the bright red button at the top of the control panel.

A cold mechanical voice echoed through the control room.

“Confirm activation of highest-level piloting mode?”

Everyone was stunned, staring up in confusion. Highest-level piloting mode?

Xu Wanzhi’s lips curled into a faint smirk, his eyes cold and mocking.

He pressed “Confirm.”

The system’s icy voice continued.

“Scanning pilot’s mental power level.”

“Scan complete.”

“Scan approved.”

“Highest-level authority unlocked.”

As the system’s final announcement rang out, everyone inside the submarine could feel it shifting.

Panic flashed across the players’ faces under the flickering red lights. “W-what’s happening?!”

Only one person understood—Black Jacket. He stood frozen in shock.

As a mecha engineering student, he knew exactly what this meant.

Highest Authority… “Self-Destruction Authorization”

In an instant, all data on the display screen disappeared into darkness. Then, lines of red English text appeared at the top.

Lin Jing looked at Xu Wanzhi as if he were a lunatic.

The submarine was disintegrating. Starting from the control cabin, they could clearly feel the outer layers peeling away—first the outer shell, then the inner walls, followed by the tail cabin and the water tanks.

The silver-white metal shell met the heat of the mushroom cloud and melted instantly, only to be shattered by the passage of time.

Everyone held their breath.

Suddenly, the red light on the display screen flashed violently.

Lin Jing turned around. The moment he saw the word “WARNING”, his pupils shrank sharply, his mind went blank, and he froze.

A nuclear reactor warning?!

The glow from the screen illuminated Xu Wanzhi’s face—cold and distant, with the beauty mark near his eye adding an air of mystery.

His fingers tightened around the control stick.

The submarine shot upward.

Lin Jing could only stare at the progress bar.

“23%” “50%” “78%” “85%” “99%”—

At the very last second, he snapped out of his daze and abruptly turned to look outside the window.

The nuclear reactor module detached from the submarine—

A second later—

Boom!

A deafening explosion erupted!

Like a golden firework bursting in the ancient deep sea.

The force of nuclear fission created a massive shockwave, sending ocean currents surging in all directions. But time moved too quickly—it seemed to flash by in an instant.

Just that brief moment was enough to leave Lin Jing ice-cold all over. He stared out the window, speechless.

—If Xu Wanzhi hadn’t triggered a higher-level self-destruction protocol, this explosion would have taken place inside the submarine sooner or later.

—It was a time bomb, secretly planted long ago, waiting for them all to die inside.

As for who was behind it, he didn’t even need to think. The name had already formed in his mind.

Elena…

The others in the control cabin had no idea how close they had come to death. Covering their ears, they crouched in the corners, trying to stabilize themselves as the submarine rocketed upward.

A short-haired girl screamed at the top of her lungs, “What the h*ll is happening right now?!”

But no one had the energy to answer her.

Lin Jing sat beside her, coming back to his senses in a daze. He quickly regained his composure and turned to look at Xu Wanzhi.

Xu Wanzhi’s expression was indifferent. A lazy yet dangerous smirk curled his lips.

“Did you enjoy the show?” he asked.

Lin Jing frowned. “What?”

Xu Wanzhi chuckled. “This explosion—specially prepared just for me.”

Specially prepared for me…

Pieces of memory in Lin Jing’s mind suddenly clicked together.

The hallways, the conference room, the control cabin—every expression, every movement Elena had made. A venomous, hateful heart hidden beneath a seductive, sweet smile.

Her goal in approaching him had always been Xu Wanzhi.

Lin Jing was stunned. Knowing all this, what was Xu Wanzhi thinking when he chose to return to the submarine with him?

There was no need for it at all.

As he looked at Xu Wanzhi in confusion, he didn’t even need to ask. Xu Wanzhi already saw through everything and smirked.

“To watch the show.”

Lin Jing’s brief moment of guilt and gratitude shattered instantly.

Oh. Never mind, then.

“But,” Xu Wanzhi added with a light chuckle, “I was afraid you’d be mad at me.”

Lin Jing scoffed, “You? Afraid of that?”

Xu Wanzhi smirked. “Why else would I be sitting here?”

Lin Jing swallowed the words on the tip of his tongue.

I thought you just wanted to make sure we died in a more spectacular way.

Xu Wanzhi said, “We’re about to leave the deep sea. We’ll accelerate soon. Do you want to hold on to me?”

By now, the submarine was nearly stripped down to just the control cabin. In its current form, its metal structure had been modified to extend two wings that could slice through the water, making it compact and lightweight. All remaining power came from the fuel stored in the control cabin.

With maximum authority unlocked, this miniature submarine would soon shoot out of the ocean, propelled by momentum into the upper atmosphere—only to shatter midair once the fuel ran out.

Completing its self-destruction.

Lin Jing muttered, “Yeah, no thanks.”

There were too many people watching.

Even though Xu Wanzhi had already ruined his reputation on the first day, he still wasn’t ready to completely give up on himself.

Xu Wanzhi smirked. “No need to be shy.”

He pressed a button and whispered in a voice only the two of them could hear—

“They won’t see anyway.”

Lin Jing: “?”

Boom.

The windows were suddenly sealed by heavy metal plating!

The next second, all the lights inside the control cabin went out—even the warning signals.

Pitch-black darkness.

Already on edge, the cabin plunged into chaos.

Two girls screamed in terror.

“AAAAAAHHH!”

The short-haired girl’s voice cracked with panic. “Help! Are we under attack?!”

Lin Jing: “……”

No, we’re not under attack. Someone’s just messing around.

With no light, there was no sense of security. As the submarine rocked violently, people were thrown around, their panicked shouts and curses overlapping.

Lin Jing gritted his teeth. “Thanks a lot.”

“You’re welcome.”

Xu Wanzhi chuckled in the darkness, his tone light.

“Hold on to me.”

At the exact moment the submarine accelerated, Lin Jing felt an overwhelming sense of freefall.

Breaking through the deep sea, they were met with a chaotic storm of ancient sea creature corpses—like drifting planets colliding in space.

The submarine lurched wildly. The cabin was filled with cries of agony.

Lin Jing clenched his jaw. Finally, he grabbed the edge of Xu Wanzhi’s coat.

The moment his fingers touched the cold fabric in the darkness, an odd feeling crept up his spine—light, soft, almost unsettling.

Before he could react, the submarine’s speed surged again.

A violent external impact sent Lin Jing slamming into the inner wall.

In the chaos, he finally lost his last shred of dignity.

His arms wrapped tightly around Xu Wanzhi’s waist.

Beneath his hands, the other man’s body was lean and firm.

Then, with the next brutal collision—

Lin Jing’s face was buried against Xu Wanzhi’s chest.

The fabric of his shirt was cold—his breath as icy as snow.

Lin Jing could feel Xu Wanzhi laughing, his chest vibrating slightly.

Suppressing a curse, Lin Jing viciously pinched his waist in irritation—Yeah, right! If my mental power wasn’t weakened and I could activate top-level driving mode, you wouldn’t have had a chance to show off!

Xu Wanzhi finally stopped laughing and said, in a perfectly serious tone— “Boyfriend, please don’t interfere with the driver.”

Lin Jing swallowed his frustration.

If he still had his double-S mental power, if he hadn’t gone through that d*mn ordeal, he would have absolutely yanked Xu Wanzhi aside and said, “Step back. Let big bro handle this.”

With its original size, the submarine would have been impossible to survive the chaos, rampage, and collisions of the ancient creatures.

Only after shrinking did they gain more room to maneuver and survive.

He couldn’t see the state of the ocean, but he could easily imagine it—h*ll on earth.

Thousands of years passed in an instant. Heaps of corpses sank and vanished, scalding steam formed white mushroom clouds, rising from the seafloor in bursts. The ocean boiled, life was devastated.

Around him, the cries and screams of the others filled his ears—their panic, their bodies crashing into each other in the chaos. And yet, in his own little space, there was an eerie calm.

It was as if he were in some deep, deep point of the universe.

The sea had its own voice, and in this moment, he could hear it more clearly than ever—that distant, ancient tide, that roaring clamor.

The instant the submarine shot out of the water like a flying fish, Xu Wanzhi opened the window.

A blinding light crashed down on them. This ascent was, in a way, also a self-destruction.

The metal hull peeled away bit by bit.

The sky was murky, filled with rolling smoke—red, orange, green—an eerie aurora stretched across it. Below, from the Siberian waters they had just left, three thousand cubic meters of scorching magma erupted forth. The ocean turned a polluted crimson, boiling hot, littered with floating corpses. A cataclysmic extinction was unfolding right before their eyes.

Underwater, they could only gauge the passage of time through the rise and fall of marine life. But from the sky, the flood of ages was stark and undeniable.

The land was bare, algae spread unchecked, acid rain poured relentlessly from the heavens. The world had entered a mass extinction that would last a million years. A century later, to the extreme north, terrestrial volcanoes erupted, magma surging like celestial pillars holding up the sky. The red-hot liquid engulfed the earth, black smoke billowed, sand and dust floated visibly in the air.

The entire planet was now h*ll.

The oceans were smothered in algae—lightless, lifeless.

The land was magma, rain, smoke, and two million years of eternal night.

For the first time, Lin Jing truly felt the weight of it all.

He was inside it, yet somehow still detached.

And after the eternal night came the great snow.

It floated around them, endless, weightless, drifting white flakes.

Green vines crept up the pitch-black castle; the third snowy night was upon them. Time had run out, and the mission had failed. As the door creaked shut, the dim light illuminated the players’ faces, twisted in despair. Ding dong. The punishment begins. Out of the darkness strode a tall, lean judge, with straight legs and an indescribable air of elegance. All the players were shocked, angry, and terrified. The man gave a lazy smile, his voice casual yet distant: “Don’t rush. I’ll give you ten minutes to run.” The survivors gritted their teeth, faces pale, trembling as they stood and began to flee frantically, searching for the final door. Among them, Lin Jing rose indifferently, heading to the depths of the third floor—the castle's forbidden zone. The final escape route had long been destroyed; it was nothing more than the judge’s cruel game. He’d rather end himself than die at that person’s hands. Suddenly, a statue’s eyes glowed red, and it lunged at him with a knife. In that instant, someone grabbed him around the waist from behind, pulling him out of harm’s way. A low chuckle sounded near his ear: “Baby, it’s only been ten minutes, and you’re already running into my arms?” Lin Jing lowered his gaze: “Get lost.” The young and handsome winner smirked, murmuring softly: “Call me husband, and I’ll let you go.” Lin Jing ground his teeth: “Heh, dream on, kid.” When the role-playing ended, he finally learned the truth: in this game, the "devoted and perfect boyfriend" written into his script was actually the final boss. A scummy liar who toyed with his feelings and ruined his youth. What Lin Jing didn’t know was that from this moment on, this liar would bind himself to him completely. *** In the Eternal Game Player Forum, one post remains perpetually at the top: — — Let’s continue to call out the infamous rank-climbing leech ‘Shuang Mu Cheng Jing’ and his forever-bound lover ‘Wan Feng Wan Yue.’ Ugh, what a disgusting dog pair!” Lin Jing originally wanted to rely on his own skills to pass levels and make money honestly. But thanks to his in-game first love/husband/boyfriend/master(?), he became the most notorious freeloader in the entire interstellar network. Even the official game moderators certified him as the #1 freeloader in the server. Lin Jing typed a slow “?”: Huh? Who’s the freeloader? Xu Wanzhi chuckled lightly, coaxing him gently: “I’m the freeloader. Thank you, baby, for carrying me to the top.” Two powerhouses. *Hunfen: Literally "mixing points," a gaming slang term for someone who gains points, rankings, or rewards by putting in minimal effort, often relying on teammates.
