The alliance of the three military universities was once again torn apart by internal strife.
A familiar scene, a familiar direction, and even the slogans were familiar.
“First Military must die!”
“They’re completely using us!”
“Are you idiots? Do you even have brains?!”
“At a time like this, points are what matter most. Save all that high-sounding nonsense!”
The people from the UMU had already gone berserk in the fight. However, their soldiers had suffered significant losses in previous battles, and their home base was under a joint attack from the Second Military and the Mobile University, leaving no spare troops to deploy. Now, if they wanted to turn around and strike back at the First Military, their only hope was to rely on UFU.
“UFU!” the young man with the buzz cut shouted.
Without a second word, the commander of UFU raised his hand high and swung it forward with force.
“Charge!”
A deep, hoarse voice rang out in everyone’s ears.
Having been suppressed by the three forces for too long, the students of UFU had a pent-up fury burning in their chests. At the sound of this horn, they launched a mighty charge, beginning their first counterattack of the day.
The punitive force of the First Military, which had originally had over thirty survivors, now truly understood the meaning of “a rout is like a landslide” amid this chaotic retreat.
The two mad dogs behind them were fiercely tearing into their ranks, relentlessly cutting down the soldiers covering the rear.
The commander stared at the rapidly dropping head count, not daring to pause for even a moment. With a mouth full of blood, he shouted within the ranks, “Everyone, run faster!”
“Don’t even think about fighting back – they outnumber us!”
“Soldiers at the camp, prepare to hold the defense!”
He now deeply understood the purpose of the instructor’s hellish long-distance training sessions, only regretting that he hadn’t brought along a team of track-and-field soldiers.
Eventually, even he began to run out of steam and had to rely on a sturdy friend beside him to drag him along.
The journey back to camp felt excruciatingly long. By the time they finally caught sight of the First Military’s insignia, only a dozen or so soldiers from the punitive force remained, completely exhausted.
Yet this was not the end – a new wave of battle was already raging right there.
The First Military’s commander was escorted into the main force. After catching his breath, he turned around and was shocked to realize something was wrong.
The UFU camp was now marked as hostile, yet their soldier count remained quite substantial, and their morale was high – there was no sign of them being on the verge of failure.
He wanted to warn the others, but when he switched to the relevant channel, he found that the Second Military and the UMU allies had long since left the group chat.
“Damn it!” The First Military’s commander spat. “As always, we can only rely on ourselves!”
…
The First Military and UMU had their names turn red almost simultaneously.
After this “equalizer,” everyone, whose emotions had been tense, finally calmed down.
At this point, the highest score on the field belonged to the Mobile University, the only camp that had remained on the sidelines of the fierce battle and the only one left with a green name.
This scene was still familiar to everyone, except that in the past, this lucky spot used to belong to “UFU.”
Staring at the dismal data on their own panels, the several commanders all had the illusion that history was repeating itself.
After scheming and fighting for so long, they had still ended up exhausting themselves to put someone else on the throne. No matter how you looked at it, this strategy was both absurd and laughable.
The three military universities all harbored a deep hatred for “opportunistic pickings,” and after having a complete fallout once, they once again shared a common goal.
This time, they didn’t seek an alliance but tacitly made a joint decision. After quickly regrouping their troops, they fired signal flares into the sky, maintaining their own paces as they launched an attack on the Mobile University.
…
The soldiers of UFU returned to their camp, crowding tightly around the city gate. If it weren’t for Cheng Feng’s order to hold their position, they would have already grabbed their guns and joined the main force in the assault.
However, the commander was also at a loss at this moment, constantly announcing the time in the channel and asking, “What do we do? There’s only 40 minutes left until the end of the match! Our four consecutive championships are about to slip away!”
Cheng Feng said calmly, “Stay steady, don’t panic. There’s still plenty of time.”
The commander urged anxiously, “Plenty of time? Forty minutes is just the blink of an eye! If you keep dragging your feet, we won’t be able to do anything!”
A few seconds later, the commander exclaimed in shock, “The people from Mobile University are asking us for support. Have they gone mad?”
There was clearly someone even more insane in their own camp, who actually said, “Agree to them.”
“Why?! They’re all our enemies, and we need to wear them down.” The commander spoke rapidly. “Our goal is victory, not righteousness! All cooperation is just a short-term exchange of interests. Besides, Mobile University didn’t come to support us earlier – they were just farming points for themselves!”
Cheng Feng said calmly, “I know. Help them.”
Two concise sentences, without even a bother to add an extra explanation.
If it had been anyone else, the commander would have already smacked a shoe onto a face as wide as the Pacific Ocean. But Cheng Feng had turned the tide several times before, proving that her overall perspective was sharper than his own. With less than forty minutes left, UFU couldn’t afford any internal conflict.
The commander weighed the imaginary trophy of four consecutive championships in his hands, his Adam’s apple bobbing along with the sweat on his forehead. After a moment of struggle, he finally decided to trust her.
“Everyone, prepare to defend Mobile University!”
The channel erupted in an uproar, filled with incredulous exclamations. “Why?!”
Cheng Feng nodded in satisfaction. “You just focus on fighting; we’ll handle the point farming. If we don’t win the championship… I’ll call you all ‘Dad’.”
She said it with complete seriousness, but the teammates beside her couldn’t help but laugh.
“No need.” The commander lifted his chin and let out a deep breath. “This is the goal of every student at UFU, not your responsibility alone. Brothers! Charge for the honor of UFU!”
…
The Mobile University never expected that they would actually receive support from UFU.
The moment they got the reply, they couldn’t believe it. Even when they saw the soldiers from UFU approaching, they remained on high alert.
It wasn’t until they witnessed the UFU students launching an attack on the three incoming enemy forces that they confirmed it was real.
Cheers and curses erupted from both sides at the same time, somehow overpowering the dense gunfire and carrying clearly across the battlefield.
The previously flagging morale of Mobile University suddenly soared, as if their vocal cords were borrowed temporarily and had to be returned tomorrow – so they might as well use them to the fullest. They shouted with all their might within the ranks.
“True brotherhood actually exists in the military university league?”
“Such noble integrity! We’ve misunderstood you all along!”
“Eternal friends! UFU, we’ll repay this kindness in next year’s league!”
“Brothers, don’t slack off! If we don’t win the championship today, we’ll have let UFU down!”
They even felt that victory no longer mattered – this genuine kindness was the true rare treasure of the league.
A championship comes around every year.
Kindness is nowhere to be seen for a century.
In response to their enthusiasm, the students of UFU remained unusually silent, offering no reply. They simply shouldered their guns and quietly held their ground on the front lines of the battle.
With UFU joining in, Mobile University’s defense became unshakably firm.
When there were only twenty minutes left, the system announced the rankings of the five camps.
Mobile University remained green and, unsurprisingly, stood firmly in first place, while UFU tragically sat at the bottom.
This sight deeply stung the other three military universities.
“Are you guys insane? Practicing Buddhism here? In this league, it’s kill or be killed -what’s with this universal compassion?!”
“UFU, you’re the real troublemakers!”
“Can we just talk this out? Don’t act on impulse! Cooperate with us, and we can take turns being champions in the future!”
The people from UFU turned a deaf ear.
With fifteen minutes left, the provoked cadets fought with greatly increased ferocity. Due to the overwhelming assault, the three military universities still managed to break into the city and shatter Mobile University’s defenses.
With ten minutes remaining, Mobile University’s name turned red.
The three military universities seemed to see the dawn of victory, launching their final hunt.
With five minutes left on the clock, UFU’s ranking suddenly began to climb. They passed the Second Military and moved up to third place.
The Second Military commander hastily glanced over the data, vaguely sensing something off but unable to figure it out in the moment. He asked, “Did we lose a lot of people? That much more than UFU?”
“No idea? Looking at the distribution of bodies on the ground, probably not?”
“Seems like everyone’s dying pretty evenly.”
The Second Military commander frowned. “But UFU…”
As the red numbers ticked past the three-minute mark, the camp rankings suddenly began to shift dramatically.
First, Mobile University started to slide down. But before everyone could react with surprise, UFU’s ranking suddenly shot up.
Stunned, everyone forgot to attack, staring blankly at the leaderboard on their screens.
To be safe, they double-checked their own supplies.
Their home base hadn’t been stolen.
“It’s a bug.”
“Is it even legal to summon ghost soldiers? Is UFU performing some kind of ritual on-site?”
“How is this score even possible!”
“Appeal! Appeal!”
In the final minute, UFU’s ranking jumped to first place.
Everyone stopped in their tracks, standing frozen as they stared at the leaderboard, waiting to see what other changes it might undergo.
The soldiers of UFU exchanged bewildered glances and, along with their commander, asked in the channel, “What’s going on?”
As the final ten seconds counted down, just as expected, the first camp that had turned red at the very beginning of the match switched back to green.
When the announcement of UFU’s victory popped up, everyone let out a simultaneous sigh of relief.
“See, it was a bug.”
“We got our fourth consecutive championship, right?”
“A fourth consecutive championship in your dreams? This is clearly a system error! Roll back the data by ten minutes.”
“Since when have you ever seen a bug in 3Y?”
“Isn’t there a San Yao admin around? A major match like this, and no one’s fixing the glitch!”
The fireworks marking the end of the league were still blooming in the sky when a massive red prompt box suddenly appeared.
【System has detected no errors!】
【Congratulations to United Federation University for winning the competition!】
