She should have had a happy family, loving parents.
Because of Mo Xuanli’s birth, everything was destroyed.
Xuanyue lost everything, completely ruined, so she wanted revenge. Everything was proceeding according to plan.
But when she saw Mo Xuanli’s birth, that identity, that unstable state, and yet he could still be carefully protected by the man known as the strongest of the righteous path, she only felt the raging fury in her chest constantly churning.
A figure of a man forever bright and upright flashed through her mind, someone who had once made her heart tremble for an instant. She hadn’t stepped forward, because she knew she had no right to happiness, so why should Mo Xuanli be allowed to be happy?
Mo Xuanli should be just like her, forever rotting in darkness, becoming an existence despised and hated by everyone in this world.
She cruelly and directly exposed everything, leaving Mo Xuanli with nowhere to hide, not allowing him to despicably escape it all.
She saw Nan Zhi at the side looking at Mo Xuanli with a shocked and astonished expression.
She saw Mo Xuanli’s face turn ashen like a corpse, as if he were little by little falling into an abyss.
When she looked again at Gu Baiqing, however, she was still disappointed. Why was there no expression at all on his face? Could it be that he really could disregard everything for Mo Xuanli?
She didn’t believe it.
“Mo Xuanli, you never told your revered Master about your origins, did you? Afraid that once you said it, you’d be despised?” Xuanyue laughed contemptuously. “That makes sense. Such a birth represents power in the demonic clan, but in the cultivation world it is… the source of sin. Of course you’d deceive your Master.”
Mo Xuanli swayed all over, even his lips turning pale.
Xuanyue watched with satisfaction as Mo Xuanli’s pitch-black eyes shattered, despair creeping in bit by bit. But in the next second, Mo Xuanli lifted his head with a trace of hope and looked toward Gu Baiqing at his side.
With trembling hands, he reached out toward Gu Baiqing’s hand.
Carefully touching it.
And at the instant of contact, Mo Xuanli’s hand was tightly grasped by Gu Baiqing. In that moment, it was as if Mo Xuanli had been pulled out of the abyss, drawing in a breath of air.
He didn’t know when Master had trained this kind of conditioned reflex into him. Every time he felt he was about to fall into the abyss again, as long as he believed in Master, he could always be saved.
Gu Baiqing also took a deep breath, Mo Xuanli had finally learned to ask for help on his own. Very good. His teaching had not been in vain.
Such an action was simply provocation to Xuanyue.
“Has Immortal Venerable Luofeng also fallen?” Xuanyue gritted her teeth and mocked. “Or is it that you don’t believe what I said?”
The way Xuanyue treated Mo Xuanli like a mortal enemy had already far exceeded Gu Baiqing’s imagination.
After all, Gu Baiqing hadn’t read the original work; what he had read was fanfiction. And fanfiction didn’t have this kind of setting.
Moreover, to someone like him who had grown up in an orphanage since childhood, it was hard to understand why there could be such hatred between siblings.
But Xuanyue’s hatred toward Mo Xuanli, Gu Baiqing felt it profoundly.
“Didn’t the Man Eating Demon escape back?” Gu Baiqing asked calmly in return. “Didn’t she report to you?”
Xuanyue’s gaze flickered. Of course the Man Eating Demon had said something, but she didn’t believe it… She felt that Gu Baiqing simply didn’t know enough. Perhaps there was affection between them, but all affection would gradually fade as the truth was peeled back layer by layer, until it disappeared entirely, turning into blades drawn against each other.
“If she reported to you and you’re still constantly sowing discord, are you planning to make us turn against each other and provoke Xuanli into falling into demonic cultivation?” Gu Baiqing tightly clasped Mo Xuanli’s hand. “Then you really wasted your words. Although I don’t want to acknowledge you as his older sister, because I think you’re not worthy, you do indeed share some blood ties. So I’ll at least give you notice: Mo Xuanli not only entered my sect, he also entered my household. I dote on him more than enough, how could I possibly detest him? Even if he were to ultimately fall into demonic cultivation, I believe he would still manage himself well, because he was taught by me. So the result would be the same, we would still be together. Have I made myself clear enough?”
Gu Baiqing’s words were cool and clear, yet they landed with force. Even Nan Zhi at the side felt as though her brain had been struck and suddenly cleared.
Xuanyue’s expression twisted in an instant.
Hearing rumors and seeing with one’s own eyes were completely different.
She even felt unable to understand every single sentence Gu Baiqing said. What she had seen, heard, and known, none of it was like this.
Either she had gone mad, or Gu Baiqing had.
But what she had personally experienced had never had an exception for thousands of years. How could she be the one who was mad? Then it had to be Gu Baiqing who had a problem, he was a lunatic!
“Now it’s my turn to ask,” Gu Baiqing said in a deep voice. “Why do you hate him so much? Mo Xuanli must have been very young back then, there’s no way he could have done anything to wrong you. Since you are his biological older sister, your blood is the same. Don’t bring up mixed-blood or status as excuses.”
Hearing this, Xuanyue almost couldn’t maintain her composure. The black aura around her rolled endlessly.
“You’re wrong. We’re not the same. I’m just an ordinary mixed-blood, he is not…” Xuanyue said meaningfully.
Gu Baiqing’s expression shifted slightly. Had they already been certain back then that Mo Xuanli was the kind of mixed-blood who could evolve into a Primordial Demon? “Just because of that possibility?” With Nan Zhi still present, he couldn’t let her hear any more.
“You know it, and yet you still chose him. You truly are a lunatic,” Xuanyue mocked. “Originally, our mother could have hidden everything. That’s how I grew up. His birth ended it all. He didn’t just wrong me, he wronged our parents, and even more so, he wronged everyone in our homeland. Do you think the immortal–demonic war broke out for no reason?” Xuanyue said ferociously. “He owes this world. He owes all of us.”
At this point, Xuanyue snorted coldly and looked at Mo Xuanli. “Being born was a mistake! Mo Xuanli, say it yourself, do you dare say it wasn’t your fault? Have you forgotten what happened back then?”
“Being born?” Although Gu Baiqing had long expected this in his heart, hearing her say it outright still felt absurdly laughable.
Xuanyue was twisted, probably because, like Mo Xuanli, she had grown up within the righteous path of the cultivation world, raised with these concepts: humans are good, demons are bad. Unlike those who fell into demonic cultivation by pursuing obsession and desire of their own will, Xuanyue was likely forced into it because of her identity. That cognitive dissonance was what made her so warped. She felt that becoming the Saintess was suffering, and that all those sufferings were brought upon her by Mo Xuanli. Thus, she never stopped harboring her twisted hatred toward him.
And Mo Xuanli… he had probably attributed everything to himself as well.
Gu Baiqing turned to look at Mo Xuanli.
Mo Xuanli was holding his hand, icy cold, his eyes gradually losing their light.
Suddenly, Gu Baiqing adopted a Master’s tone and questioned him. “Mo Xuanli, were you wrong? What were you wrong about?”
Mo Xuanli was stunned, staring blankly at Gu Baiqing. He seemed to sense that Master was angry, but he didn’t know why. He looked at Master in a panic, at a loss.
“Answer my question. What exactly did you do wrong?” Gu Baiqing said. “Think it through before you answer!”
Xuanyue sneered as she watched everything unfold. Nan Zhi looked around in confusion.
Mo Xuanli opened his mouth, his expression blank. “I… I don’t know.”
Gu Baiqing let out a sigh. That kind of answer… was acceptable enough.
Gripping Mo Xuanli’s hand, Gu Baiqing taught him earnestly. “Listen to me, you did nothing wrong!”
Mo Xuanli froze, as if struck by a bolt of lightning from his Master, so stunned that his head spun and his ears rang, as if he hadn’t heard or understood at all.
Dazed, yet his whole body gradually became clear and open.
“What did you say?!” Xuanyue exclaimed in shock, as if Gu Baiqing were the incomprehensible one.
“What I said is that Xuanli is not at fault,” Gu Baiqing looked seriously at Mo Xuanli. “Did you understand? I said you’re not at fault.”
“Master, I…”
“Be good. Listen.”
Mo Xuanli’s brows slowly knit together, as if he were summoning every ounce of courage he had. He nodded heavily.
Master said he wasn’t wrong, so he wasn’t wrong. He didn’t care, he wasn’t wrong.
It didn’t matter if everyone else thought he was wrong.
As long as Master said he wasn’t wrong, that was enough.
It was as if the burdens he had been forced to carry were suddenly taken off by someone, his whole body felt light.
Gu Baiqing watched Mo Xuanli “play deaf and dumb,” believing him without question. Although it might not have uprooted his heart demon completely, perhaps deep down he still believed everything was his fault, as long as there was even a moment where he could doubt that belief, where he could believe it wasn’t his fault, it was like opening a crack in a long-standing illness.
Gu Baiqing was very satisfied, then turned to look at Xuanyue, who was on the verge of being driven mad with rage.
“He has never harmed you. On the contrary, you’ve been harming him all along. I remember now, back then, when Xuanli almost got lashed by the Soul-Whipping Whip, it was your doing, deceiving him into going to the forbidden grounds. Staying in Zixiao Sect, you kept looking for chances to trick him into falling into demonic cultivation, not just once or twice, using Xuanli’s trust in Yun Yue to constantly torment his emotions and nerves.” At this point, Gu Baiqing suddenly raised his brows and said, “You also gave Xuanli the red seed. What exactly was that? Anyway, it definitely wasn’t something to help test feelings, right.”
Mentioning this, Mo Xuanli abruptly snapped out of his daze and widened his eyes to look at Xuanyue, that had truly been no small harm to him.
Xuanyue said, “Yes, you’re right about everything. Inject spiritual power, if the spiritual power isn’t pure, it will bloom. The more demonic qi it contains, the more beautiful the flower, and it also assists the holder in falling into demonic cultivation. Didn’t you realize his identity back then?”
Gu Baiqing awkwardly rubbed his nose and turned to look at Mo Xuanli. “Then… can this knot in your heart finally be untied completely?”
Mo Xuanli froze.
Gu Baiqing said a bit uncomfortably, “…Anyway, that seed’s test doesn’t count anymore.” The wounded look on Mo Xuanli’s face back then, after they got together, whenever he thought of it, his heart would still palpitate. He couldn’t help but recall it. Had he truly had no feelings for Mo Xuanli before that?
Mo Xuanli’s expression was deeply moved. Perhaps… Master hadn’t been completely without feelings for him back then; perhaps it wasn’t that everything started suddenly later on… He tightly grasped Gu Baiqing’s hand, his eyes shimmering with a different light.
Seeing the two of them trust each other like this, Xuanyue finally couldn’t stand it anymore. None of the tragedy she had anticipated had happened to Mo Xuanli, why? Only if Mo Xuanli suffered like she did would it be fair!
The whip, carrying black flames, began to dance, striking toward Gu Baiqing.
And how could a clear-minded Mo Xuanli allow anyone to threaten even a single hair on Master’s head? God Nine Transformations’s whip, blazing with bright flames, lashed out. The two weapons collided midair.
In an instant, the two whips entangled, flames devouring each other.
At the same time, other members of the demon race finally arrived, all charging toward Mo Xuanli, who dared attack their Saintess.
Gu Baiqing was about to make a move when, to his surprise, Nan Zhi suddenly leapt up. As if venting her fury, she crazily slaughtered demons, carving out a path, then turned and swung her greatsword straight at Xuanyue.
She was knocked back by the arriving Le Xi, but in terms of combat experience, Le Xi was no match for Nan Zhi. So the moment she repelled Nan Zhi, she hadn’t expected a short blade to shoot toward Xuanyue.
But… it wasn’t aimed at Xuanyue’s vital points.
At first, Xuanyue also thought the attack had missed its mark.
But when the short blade lightly brushed past her wrist, leaving a cut at the place of the contract, Xuanyue’s expression stiffened.
Xuanyue glanced at Nan Zhi.
Nan Zhi’s eyes held nothing but icy coldness.
Xuanyue understood what that strike meant.
What, did she think she would care?
Her gaze shifted, and flames ignited where Nan Zhi landed.
At this moment, Mo Xuanli had already wrapped the two whips together, using his body’s rotation to force Xuanyue to spin with him.
Gu Baiqing was about to act when even more demons surged in, there were Demon Lords, countless high-ranking demons, and even demonic beasts.
At a glance, Gu Baiqing knew the situation was bad. Continuing to fight would only put them at a disadvantage. He immediately shouted, “Retreat!”
Mo Xuanli nodded. In an instant, God Nine Transformations twisted sharply, directly shredding Xuanyue’s whip.
Xuanyue was shocked, she clearly hadn’t expected Mo Xuanli’s weapon to be so powerful.
“Don’t let them escape!” Xuanyue retreated, letting the others advance.
Just then, a massive spiritual energy fluctuation suddenly came from not far outside, affecting the entire Saint Hall.
Everyone froze in shock at the sudden tremor.
But Gu Baiqing and Mo Xuanli knew, the teleportation array had been activated. A teleportation array of that scale required time to start, and the cultivation world’s side also needed a huge number of cultivators to cooperate. The teleportation process itself was extremely perilous, after all, they didn’t have a divine object like the Demon God Crystal on their side.
Gu Baiqing and Mo Xuanli exchanged a glance. Mo Xuanli immediately grabbed Nan Zhi.
Nan Zhi looked back at him.
Mo Xuanli awkwardly averted his gaze. “Senior Sister, let’s go.”
Nan Zhi replied with a simple “Alright,” with no change in tone, still the same cool, aloof senior sister.
Something stirred in Mo Xuanli’s heart, and he prepared to take the two of them and escape using the Void Spirit Space.
But at that moment, Gu Baiqing and the others heard Xuanyue order everyone to go to the Water Curtain Prison.
In that instant, both Gu Baiqing and Mo Xuanli realized a problem.
If such a massive demon force rushed over while the teleportation array had only just begun operating and still needed time…
So many people…
Mo Xuanli was about to speak when Gu Baiqing directly tossed Three Bean to him and said, “Go wait at the teleportation array. I’ll catch up at the moment you leave!”
“Master, I can…”
“You’re not qualified. You can’t hold these people back. Go, don’t waste time!”
Harsh as it sounded, it was the truth. With so many enemies, Mo Xuanli alone couldn’t hold them back. Aside from Gu Baiqing, no one else could buy them time.
Mo Xuanli forced himself to calm down, knowing Master was right and that he couldn’t be a burden. Before casting his spell, he shouted, “Master, if you don’t make it back, I’ll appear by your side immediately!”
Gu Baiqing rose into the air as he spoke, the corner of his mouth lifting. “I’ll keep the ring on, so you’ll be able to find me.”
That one sentence put Mo Xuanli at ease. Mo Xuanli cast one last look at Xuanyue, who stood behind all the demons.
An older sister he hadn’t seen in more than ten years, who would have thought that meeting again would be in such an ugly scene.
Mo Xuanli also saw Xuanyue staring at him. The madness from just now was gone, replaced by that half-smiling, half-mocking expression again. In the end, she even mouthed something at him.
Mo Xuanli had no time to react. At the instant he was about to disappear, he saw Xuanyue take out a section of pale red bone. In that split second, it was as if Mo Xuanli’s heart stopped beating, his entire body seized by an inexplicable, intense pain.
But in the blink of an eye, he had already vanished from where he stood together with Nan Zhi.
Just as large numbers of demons were about to rush out,
The one who should have fled suddenly shot up to the highest point, dazzling blue light of lightning blazing around him. Holding Morning Snow, he stabbed downward through the air, and a massive lightning barrier instantly descended, enveloping all the demons present.
The demons were furious, desperately crashing against it, trying to break out. But no matter what techniques they used, they were completely useless, there was no way out, and naturally no way to attack Gu Baiqing.
They looked up at Gu Baiqing above them, grinding their teeth in hatred.
After failing to release her insects, Le Xi even shouted provocatively, “I don’t believe you can hold on. When you can’t anymore, I’ll let the people of the cultivation world see how you, this Immortal Venerable, die at the hands of our demon race.”
Gu Baiqing didn’t even bother with her, focusing solely on watching the consumption of his spiritual power.
Because he didn’t know whether this mission would fail, and he had already used far too many points before, he didn’t dare use any more. So now he was relying entirely on spiritual power. If not for the sudden leap in his relationship with Mo Xuanli, such a powerful formation was really not something he could sustain.
Maintaining this formation was already Gu Baiqing’s limit. He couldn’t attack the demons at all, he could only do his best to buy time for the teleportation array over there. Hopefully the mission would go smoothly; don’t let his efforts be wasted.
“Older Sister!” Le Xi fumed and went to find Xuanyue.
Xuanyue narrowed her eyes and swept a glance at Gu Baiqing. He really was an extremely irritating presence, but since she couldn’t beat him, she could only swallow her anger.
She strolled back unhurriedly, found a spot, and casually sat down, toying with that pale red origin bone in her hand. Strange black patterns still marked the bone. She seemed not worried at all that the hostages outside would escape. A pair of dark red eyes gleamed as calculation flashed through them. Then she curled her lips, angry she might be, but the gains were not small.
What’s more, her younger brother had had no weaknesses in the past, forcing her to rack her brains to create one for him. Yet now, he had openly placed his weakness right in front of her for her to discover. She ought to be happy.
Go back.
Go back with peace of mind.
There’s still a good show waiting for them.
At the same time, when Mo Xuanli and Nan Zhi appeared, they saw an even more critical scene. Mo Xuanli had no time to dwell on what he’d just seen, nor did he dare to think about it. He focused only on dealing with the situation at hand, striving to leave quickly so as not to delay his Master too long.
Most of the people capable of operating the teleportation array were injured. Very few could help. Surprisingly, the main support right now was Li Xiuran.
At the center of the massive circular teleportation array, Li Xiuran knelt on one knee, Dingtian Sword in his hand plunged into the formation. With his eyes closed, he was operating the array. But from his pale face to the nosebleed that gradually trickled out, it was clear he couldn’t hold on alone.
Si Chun ran back and forth maintaining the formation, helping to alleviate the situation.
The others had their spiritual power sealed and couldn’t help for the moment. They could only sit anxiously inside the teleportation array, watching.
Xie Qingrong and Jingzhan led the cultivators who had arrived later to help, together resisting the endless stream of puppets, demons, and demonic beasts.
At this moment, Xie Qingrong was struck by a palm from the leading puppet. Jingzhan reacted swiftly, flying over, wrapping one arm around Xie Qingrong while using the other to repel the enemy.
Another demon leapt out. Just as the two were forced back again and again,
Mo Xuanli’s God Nine Transformations turned into eighteen nails, instantly dealing with all the surrounding demons.
The two turned back toward Mo Xuanli in surprise and delight.
Nan Zhi flew out to help.
Mo Xuanli was about to go over when he was stopped by Si Chun.
“Xuanli, help Li Xiuran. The formation can’t be delayed, it’ll collapse!” Si Chun said anxiously. Mo Xuanli immediately went over to cooperate.
Just like before when destroying the Demon God Crystal, Mo Xuanli came to Li Xiuran’s side, assumed the same posture, and worked in perfect coordination, jointly bearing the immense power of the teleportation array. Using the power of the God-Slaying Sword fragment along with his own cultivation, he operated the array.
With Mo Xuanli’s addition, Li Xiuran’s complexion improved considerably. The teleportation array seemed to suddenly rev up, no longer running half-dead as before, but now brimming with strength.
“Where is your Master!” Si Chun shouted.
“He’ll come.” After saying that, Mo Xuanli closed his eyes and focused on running the formation.
Above the massive formation were over a hundred captured hostages, like fish on a chopping board, waiting for their fate.
Suddenly, the runes on the ground began to tremble. An invisible force was dragging them upward.
Everyone seemed to see hope. Soon, a pillar of light enveloped the huge formation, it had connected with the other side.
Si Chun hurriedly called for the others to come up.
Those fighting outside all leapt onto it. At this moment, the pursuing enemies arrived, but they were already unable to break through the teleportation array’s barrier.
Everyone slowly ascended, wrapped in that power.
But just then, Li Xiuran suddenly spat out a mouthful of blood and collapsed. In the end, he had held on alone for too long earlier.
Although the others quickly took over as well, helping together to maintain it,
They were still ascending, almost at the critical point of entering the teleportation passage.
Yet the power still couldn’t hold. One by one, they collapsed. The formation also seemed to be stuck, insufficient power, unable to continue rising.
Only Mo Xuanli was still holding on. Otherwise, everyone would be flung back into the Demon Realm.
Everyone could only look at him in despair. Some shouted desperately, urging Mo Xuanli to hold on.
But Mo Xuanli was thinking: where is Master?
Mo Xuanli’s nerves were being torn apart by the power of the formation. His cultivation seemed on the verge of breaking through, while mentally he once again showed signs of losing control. He realized that one of his eyes was about to turn red beyond his control, and under everyone’s gaze, he could only lower his head.
He didn’t dare raise it, nor did he dare relax. He only wanted to send everyone away as much as possible, and then go find Master.
But he didn’t know whether he could hold on.
At that moment, a flash of blue light suddenly shot in, appearing as if out of thin air. A black figure landed beside him.
Everyone froze for a moment. When they realized it was Gu Baiqing, they were instantly overjoyed, thinking they had seen hope.
But when they reacted to the fact that Gu Baiqing fell into a coma the moment he returned, despair took over again.
Every second was torment.
Yet Mo Xuanli saw that Master was right there beside him. He knew clearly that Master’s old problem had flared up again…
But he was right beside him, safe and sound.
So… he had to bring Master back!
Mo Xuanli let out a painful roar, as if exhausting his very last bit of strength.
And amid this chaos, no one could pay attention to the fact that demonic qi was still swirling around.
Everyone was shouting for Mo Xuanli to hold on.
The light around them grew more dazzling as Mo Xuanli’s spiritual power was rapidly depleted.
In an instant, it was as if a hole had been torn open in the sky of the Demon Realm.
In the blink of an eye, the formation, along with all the people on it, vanished from the Demon Realm.
Within the twisted teleportation space, everyone was engulfed in a storm of spiritual power. They thought that in the next instant they would be swept away to some unknown place, only to find that Mo Xuanli was still persisting in casting the spell, already beginning to bleed from all seven orifices.
Seeing this scene, everyone was deeply moved.
Accompanied by the final sound of a dragon’s roar, it seemed as though one last surge of power had been added.
Very soon, they felt spiritual energy all around them, they had returned to the cultivation world.
But Mo Xuanli could no longer hold on and fainted, yet before losing consciousness, he tightly embraced Gu Baiqing.
Because of Mo Xuanli’s collapse, the storm of spiritual power swept through the teleportation array. Although it lasted only a few seconds, it resulted in only part of the group returning to the teleportation array of Tianyuan Sect, while the others were scattered and fell in various places.
After hearing the course of events from those who had returned, the people of Tianyuan Sect immediately intensified their efforts, dispatching people everywhere to search for the others.
Very quickly, all the hostages were found one by one.
Fu Zhiyi also found Mo Xuanli and Gu Baiqing.
Seeing the two of them tightly holding each other, Fu Zhiyi truly couldn’t bear to look.
They brought them back and immediately had Mo Xuanli treated.
This time, Mo Xuanli could be said to be a great benefactor to the entire cultivation world. A tremendous merit.
Wherever Fu Zhiyi went, he heard people praising their sect for having raised such a fine disciple. Some sects had rescued relatives of their sect masters or other important figures, and they even privately sent generous gifts to thank Mo Xuanli for his efforts.
But Fu Zhiyi sensed a different undercurrent. With his many thoughts, seeing that the border area was temporarily calm, he recalled Chu Fei and also sent a message to sect master senior sister.
Because Tianyuan Sect had suddenly rescued so many hostages, it fell into a flurry of activity.
Many things went unnoticed.
For example, Qian Yue, who disappeared the moment he woke up.
At this time, the incubus in confinement slowly raised his head upon hearing the commotion. When he saw that the monk was completely unharmed, he actually felt like crying. But then he turned his head away arrogantly and said, “Stinking monk, you really have a tough life, actually coming back alive.”
Qian Yue said nothing and stepped forward to undo his restraints.
The incubus suddenly spoke up, “What are you doing?”
“Saving you.”
“Are you stupid? If you save me like this, won’t you be discovered? A monk helping a demon escape, do you want to never be able to return?”
Qian Yue’s movements paused slightly. He raised his head and looked at the incubus.
Every time the incubus met those emotionless brows and eyes, his heart would tremble. Those brows and eyes, as if painted with thick ink, were truly… too deep. Just looking a few times made the incubus feel afraid.
But the incubus thought this was probably because the power of the Wuxiang Temple was naturally incompatible with demons, and had nothing to do with anything else. He absolutely refused to admit that the stinking monk looked pretty good.
Suddenly, there was warmth on his lips. The incubus immediately widened his eyes, twisting his head to look at Qian Yue as if in disbelief.
“Y-you… you…” Was that just an illusion? The stinking monk actually took the initiative to kiss him?
He touched him, right?
It wasn’t his imagination, was it.
Was it… real?
The incubus stared wide-eyed, not daring to ask.
Very quickly, all the chains were torn off. The badly injured incubus couldn’t stand at all and was carried on Qian Yue’s back.
The incubus realized that they didn’t seem to have alerted anyone, so the stinking monk must have come prepared.
Before long, Qian Yue disappeared with the incubus on his back.
They left along the route with the fewest people. Even so, they nearly ran into someone, seemingly a sneaky woman. But they dodged quickly and escaped smoothly.
For the first time, the incubus felt that he could fall asleep in peace.
But just as he was about to lose consciousness, he felt a very strange fluctuation.
It seemed to be… a teleportation array of the Demon Realm… and it was in the direction where that woman had just disappeared.
But how could that be possible?
The incubus wanted to tell Qian Yue, but his severely injured body couldn’t hold on, and he fell into a coma.
Only after they had escaped very, very far away, found a safe place to hide, and the incubus was revived, did he bring up the matter.
By then, it was already three days later.
Upon hearing this, Qian Yue immediately stood up. “I’m going back.”
“Huh? Why?” The incubus panicked at once.
“My friend… might be in trouble. I’m not at ease. I’ll go back and take a look.”
“Are you talking about that Mo Xuanli?”
Qian Yue suddenly asked, “You know he’s a mixed-blood, right.”
The incubus said with an awkward expression, “I more or less know. The Saintess has many plans for him. She seems to want to pull him into the demon race.”
Hearing this, Qian Yue’s expression became even more serious. “Wait here.”
“You…” The incubus couldn’t help reaching out to grab Qian Yue, but realizing something, he withdrew his hand. “Fine, go then.”
Qian Yue’s steps paused. He turned back to look at the incubus and said in a low voice, “I said, wait.”
The incubus was stunned by Qian Yue’s tone and suddenly reacted, what Qian Yue had just said was to wait here, which meant that Qian Yue would come back for him, not merely rescue him.
The incubus stared at Qian Yue in astonishment. Seeing that Qian Yue was really about to leave, he immediately blurted out, “I’ll wait for you.”
Qian Yue didn’t look back again, but before leaving he set up a protective barrier here, to prevent anyone from discovering the incubus.
Immediately after, he hurried back to Tianyuan Sect at full speed.
As these three days passed, the other injured people gradually woke up. No one paid attention to the fact that a demon race member had suddenly disappeared; they only thought he had escaped on his own. It was merely a lapse in management.
Everyone was extremely excited about having accomplished such a major feat. Especially since the two most seriously injured people were still recuperating, everyone went to pay them a visit.
Li Xiuran had just woken up, and everyone discovered that Li Xiuran had already advanced to the late stage of Soul Transformation. There was also a great beauty by his side, truly something that inspired both jealousy and envy. Afterward, good friends one after another went to look for Mo Xuanli. Although they knew he was still unconscious, they couldn’t help coming to take a look. They were genuinely worried; after all, in the end it was Mo Xuanli who held on and supported them so they could return.
Gu Baiqing was the first to wake up. Upon waking, he then discovered that Mo Xuanli was sleeping in the same room, on a bed in the other direction. Others happened to come to visit Mo Xuanli. Although they still held Gu Baiqing in awe, they couldn’t help surrounding him, chattering away nonstop.
The atmosphere was extremely harmonious, as if the great battle had already ended.
Indeed, the hostages had all returned, seven fragments had been collected, and the demon race’s conspiracy was basically considered bankrupt.
But Gu Baiqing still felt faintly uneasy inside.
After seeing everyone off, Gu Baiqing came to Mo Xuanli’s side and kept watch over him.
Mo Xuanli had not yet woken up, seemingly in a comatose state on the verge of a breakthrough.
It was just at this time that Fu Zhiyi brought a piece of news, they had received an urgent letter from the merfolk clan.
It said that strange circumstances had been discovered at the former Beast-Taming Manor, and they needed to go back and take a look.
Gu Baiqing was just thinking about this matter when Three Bean suddenly ran over with Ao Heng.
“Master, we need to go back to the shores of the Eastern Sea for a trip.”
Seeing Ao Heng in a half-unconscious state, Gu Baiqing asked worriedly, “To do what?”
Three Bean said anxiously, “Ao Heng’s body has expended too much. He needs to return to the sea to recover a bit. Master doesn’t need to worry, Ao Heng said that going back to soak for a while will be fine. And since Xuanli doesn’t need us guarding him right now, I’ll accompany Ao Heng back for a trip, okay?”
Gu Baiqing thought for a moment and then said, “Alright. When you go back, stop by to see Junhua as well. Ask what exactly happened. On my side, once Mo Xuanli’s injuries have healed, I’ll take him with me.”
Three Bean nodded. Gu Baiqing gave Three Bean some spiritual power and then watched them leave.
Hopefully everything will be fine.
