He hid in a corner, shocked, as he watched Chu Hechao working alongside other laborers, carrying bricks and sandbags at the construction site.

The Grand General, the founding emperor of Great Wen’s empress, the person who gave away a jade pendant as a gift, was actually doing manual labor at a construction site?

The foreman was taken aback and quickly had his men receive the skewers. “Who sent these? There are so many! We just finished eating, we can’t finish all of these!”

“Just eat as much as you can!” The barbecue restaurant owner laughed heartily. “I don’t even know the person who paid for these. He said he knows you guys and wanted to treat you to some skewers. It’s a good thing! Hurry up and eat while they’re hot, I need to get back to work.”

The foreman was amazed by the generosity. These skewers alone would cost quite a bit of money. Who could be so generous to treat them to such a meal?

Regardless, the foreman gathered everyone to share the skewers. “Everyone, today we eat to our hearts’ content!”

“I followed you,” Yuan Li answered truthfully, staring at Chu Hechao and asked, “Why did you go to the construction site to do manual labor?”

Chu Hechao hesitated for a moment, his expression somewhat strange. “You found out?”

Yuan Li nodded, frowning his handsome eyebrows. “Are you trying to earn money?”

Chu Hechao honestly replied, “Yes.”

“What do you need the money for?” Yuan Li didn’t understand. “Why didn’t you tell me? Both I and your brother could give you money.”

Chu Hechao looked at him but didn’t speak.

His eyes showed excitement and fervor. Yuan Li felt his body tingling under Chu Hechao’s gaze, and he couldn’t help urging softly, “Speak.”

“Le Jun,” Chu Hechao lowered his head and whispered in Yuan Li’s ear, “I really want to sleep with you.”

The husky voice made Yuan Li’s ears tremble, and he raised his gaze, looking at Chu Hechao’s jawline and Adam’s apple.

“I’ll show you when we get there,” Chu Hechao squeezed Yuan Li’s hand and his gaze was somewhat elusive, but his tone was certain, “They’re all good things.”

Really?

Yuan Li felt the sweat in Chu Hechao’s palm and sank into deep doubt.
