Chapter 196 – The End
<Previous Chapter<Table of Contents>
In August, the wind was scorching hot. People hurriedly walked, busy to get off work and go home for dinner, only the hotel had a bit of coolness.
There were many hotels near the construction site, with various price ranges and all kinds of people coming in and out. The middle-aged woman at the hotel reception glanced up, not surprised to see two men, and began to collect money and register.
Chu Hechao had almost spent all the money he earned from the three days of hard work.
The room was quite large and clean. Before doing “that,” they needed to take a bath. Chu Hechao went in first, and after a few minutes, he hurriedly came out, making way for Yuan Li to enter.
As an ancient man who had never experienced this before, Yuan Li was afraid that they might be too loud and disturb others. He turned on the television and tuned it to a music channel.
Songs he couldn’t understand immediately filled the room.
When Yuan Li walked out, he was greeted by the cold air from the air conditioner, which gave him goosebumps. He turned his head and saw that Chu Hechao had emptied the black plastic bag onto the bed.
Curiously, he walked over and took a look. His face turned black, “What are all these?”
Condoms, a piece of cloth-sized underwear, and various strange little toys… With every glance, Yuan Li’s headache worsened, and he felt embarrassed.
He pressed on his temple, gritted his teeth, and said, “Chu Hechao, you went to work just to buy all these things?”
He felt like laughing in anger.
All his concerns were for nothing!
“Darling,” Chu Hechao grabbed Yuan Li’s arm and pushed him onto the bed, intentionally using a more embarrassing term, “Come and try with me.”
…
The air conditioner worked diligently, and outside the window, birds chirped. The curtains were tightly closed, and the cool breeze made people shiver.
At first, Yuan Li felt cold after coming out of the bathroom, but soon he started feeling hot. The quilt was kicked onto the floor, and no matter how loud the TV was, it couldn’t cover up the loud sounds of the old bed shaking.
“Creak, creak.”
The bed, having seen some years, was experiencing its most intense challenge yet. The headboard was repeatedly slammed against the wall due to the immense force.
Sounds of pleasure mixed with pain, concealed under the music, muffled moans, gasps, angry “go away” and “that’s enough” cursing, as well as the man’s forceful commands of “separate” and “stop rolling, hold me tight.”
Yuan Li’s head was repeatedly hit and forced forward, but the man held his face with his hand to prevent him from hitting the headboard. His face was sweaty, and he didn’t know if it was sweat or tears. His skin felt like it had sparks on it, making him feel a tingling pain.
The man sucked the water on Yuan Li’s face, his movements fierce.
The sound insulation of the small hotel was not good. After a while, the person in the next room couldn’t stand it and angrily pounded on the wall, “Keep it down!”
The man, immersed in the moment, was like an untouchable beast and roared, “Get lost!”
The next-door person was scared and dared not knock again.
After a while, the hotel owner came up, knocking on the door and coughing politely, “Hey, my friend, keep it down. It’s already past 9 o’clock, and some people want to sleep.”
Is it already 9 o’clock?
Yuan Li’s voice was hoarse, “Let’s stop.”
Impatiently dealing with the hotel owner, Chu Hechao held Yuan Li up, and with the remote control in one hand, he lowered the volume. “The bed isn’t sturdy enough. Let’s continue against the wall.”
…
After two rounds, it was almost 11 o’clock.
Yuan Li laid on the bed, feeling completely exhausted. He didn’t want to move a single finger right now.
His head felt heavy and his muscles were sore, as if he had done excessive exercise, and his thighs were particularly sore.
The bedsheets were completely wet, and it felt uncomfortable.
Chu Hechao was still full of energy, as if he had taken stimulants. After showering with Yuan Li, he put Yuan Li on the sofa and went downstairs to get fresh bedsheets and covers from the hotel staff.
Yuan Li’s eyes were so tired they were sticking together, and his whole face was filled with the aftermath of the bed.
It was thrilling, really thrilling. And very embarrassing. Yuan Li began to doubt whether bringing Chu Hechao to the modern world was a mistake.
Chu Hechao quickly returned, swiftly changing the bedsheets and covers, and putting Yuan Li back on the bed. Just a moment ago, he was saying lewd things, but now he was gently stroking Yuan Li’s hair and caring, “Are you hungry?”
Yuan Li yawned, “I’m both hungry and sleepy.”
“I’ll go get you something to eat,” Chu Hechao was patient, “What would you like to eat?”
Yuan Li answered listlessly, “Anything is fine.”
Unable to resist, Chu Hechao kissed him on the cheek and then got out of bed to throw the used condoms and the torn underwear into the trash.
As he tidied up, he thought that these things were really good. When he returned to the ancient times, he would have to figure out how to obtain similar items.
Thinking of Yuan Li’s appearance from last night, he quickly coughed and rubbed his nose.
There was a dumpling restaurant downstairs. In a short while, Chu Hechao bought dumplings and wontons and brought them back.
Yuan Li leaned against him, being fed by Chu Hechao without having to move a finger.
The dumplings were hot, and eating them felt very comforting. The taste was also good, with juicy fillings oozing with oil. Yuan Li ate them one after another, looking at the remaining food on the table, he was puzzled, “Why did you buy so little?”
It looked like just enough for one person’s dinner.
Chu Hechao honestly said, “I ran out of money.”
Yuan Li was taken aback, but couldn’t help but laugh, “You’re so poor.”
After getting off the bed, being so broke that you can only buy a meal for your partner, it’s both heart-wrenching and funny. Yuan Li giggled while lying on Chu Hechao’s body for a while, but soon felt sleepy. “I’m full now, you should eat quickly.”
Chu Hechao touched his stomach, confirming that he was not lying, and then finished the rest of Yuan Li’s food in one bite.
Listening to him eat, Yuan Li unintentionally closed his eyes.
The next morning at 8 o’clock, Yuan Li woke up slowly. They packed up and checked out of the hotel to have breakfast.
There was a breakfast shop nearby, and it was packed with people. Yuan Li ordered buns, fried dough sticks, and two bowls of chicken soup, filling up the entire table.
While eating, they ran into the construction site foreman who came for breakfast as well. Chu Hechao didn’t want to waste time going back to the construction site after spending the night with Yuan Li, so he told the foreman that he quit.
Seeing the reluctant look on the foreman’s face as he left, Yuan Li teased Chu Hechao, “So, our great general is so talented at bricklaying that they don’t want to let you go?”
Chu Hechao raised an eyebrow and pinched Yuan Li’s earlobe. “I’m even more talented when I’m doing you.”
Yuan Li said, “….Shut up.”
Since last night until now, both of their phones had several missed calls from Chu Mingfeng. But at that time, they were busy and didn’t pay attention. Yuan Li only noticed now. Feeling a bit guilty, he sent a text message to Chu Mingfeng to let him know they were safe and then turned off his phone, not intending to call back.
Chu Hechao wouldn’t call Chu Mingfeng back either.
Yuan Li thought to himself that love and passion were unavoidable things. Besides, he and Chu Hechao were legally married husbands; it was understandable for them to go out and spend the night together.
He believed that Uncle Chu would understand too.
After breakfast, the two of them strolled slowly back home.
There used to be a gap between them, but gradually, the gap disappeared, and their hands, rubbing against each other, connected.
After all these years, why did they still act like young lovers?
Yuan Li hummed a tune, and there was no one on the small path. Weeds grew wildly, and in the distance, dogs barked, and birds chirped.
The shade of the trees was dense, and the scorching sun pierced through the gaps, casting alternating patterns of light and shadow on the two of them. It felt as if time stood still, and the flow of time remained unchanged.
Chu Hechao looked at the side of Yuan Li’s face, the golden rays of light glinting from the corners of his smiling lips to his ear. His heart thumped and thumped, beating for Yuan Li as it had done for the past ten years.
Unable to resist, he pulled Yuan Li close and kissed his lips.
“Le Jun,” Chu Hechao smiled and whispered, “I love you.”
The wind carried these words away, but the love they contained pressed heavily on Yuan Li’s heart, making him feel overwhelmed with emotion. He responded to Chu Hechao, his eyes shimmering with intoxicating light, “I love you too.”
Yuan Li had never changed.
Even though he held a high position and had great power, even though he became an emperor, he always retained the passionate and free spirit of his youth.
He was grateful for everything – grateful to his parents, grateful to his friends, grateful to time for not disappointing him.
And most of all, he was grateful that Chu Hechao held his hand, like the string that guided a kite soaring high in the sky.
What a fortunate thing this was.
Separated by thousands of years, their paths had coincidentally and arduously crossed through this vast expanse of time, miraculously meeting each other.
From now on, Yuan Li was no longer alone, and Chu Hechao was no longer solitary.
In this long night, they transformed from wandering alone to understanding and accompanying each other.
