Chapter 44 Why not count it above
<Previous Chapter<Table of Contents>Next Chapter>
Their dating plan was interrupted by a call from Zhao Jiu’s mother.
Zhao Jiu went out to answer the call and came back with a cold face. He told Song Youji, “My mom said the old man is seriously ill and asked me to go back.”
Song Youji’s heart trembled slightly, feeling uneasy. “When do you plan to go back?”
“I’m not going back.” Zhao Jiu said resolutely, “The old man is probably pretending to be sick. He’s healthy and can’t get sick at this time. I left the capital for only a couple of months, and Newman just went back. He called as soon as I left. How could things be so coincidental?”
Song Youji felt he made sense, but unexpected things were unexpected because they often happened beyond people’s expectations. He advised, “Why not go back and see? In case your father is really sick, if you don’t go back and miss seeing him, you’ll regret it.”
Zhao Jiu’s face showed a hint of hesitation. His tightly clenched hands revealed his inner unease. “I’ll check with Yuna.”
Back from the department store, the two went straight home. Zhao Jiu locked himself in the study for a while, and Song Youji waited in the living room, feeling a growing sense of unease.
After a while, Zhao Jiu came out, looking at Song Youji with a solemn expression.
“What’s wrong?” Song Youji asked nervously.
“I need to go back for a while, in a few days.” Zhao Jiu’s tone carried a hint of helplessness. “Youji, will you come with me?”
Song Youji instinctively wanted to refuse, “If I go with you, won’t your father be even more angry?”
He still hesitated to contact the Zhao family, and he has no plans to return to the capital for the time being. Moreover, his work in Xiaoman City is not finished yet.
“You go with me, we’ll see my father, and then I’ll come back with you. It won’t delay things here.” Zhao Jiu put on a gesture of bringing him to meet his parents, coaxing him with a gentle tone.
At the same time, Song Youji was also afraid of one thing. If Zhao Jiu’s father pretended to be seriously ill and deceived Zhao Jiu into going back for marriage, what would he do then? If, at that time, Zhao Jiu wanted to be a filial son and agreed to his father, wouldn’t Song Youji become a joke?
“I won’t go.” Song Youji replied. He turned around a bit panic-stricken, trying to conceal his inner unease. “I still have things to do.”
Seeing his firm attitude, Zhao Jiu didn’t press further and just said, “Then wait for me to come back.”
Saying that, he put a blue sapphire ring he had just bought on Song Youji’s right ring finger.
Song Youji sighed, and Zhao Jiu immediately grabbed his hand, threatening, “No taking it off!”
“Just wear it for now.” Zhao Jiu kissed Song Youji’s hand with the ring, lowered his gaze, and his eyelashes covered the desolation in his eyes. “I’ll be back soon. While I’m away, don’t take off the ring, ignore anyone trying to strike up a conversation, and especially don’t smile at them.”
“So many rules, you might as well just lock me up and not let me go out.” Song Youji laughed.
Zhao Jiu pursed his lips, and his deep pupils shimmered with a faint light. “That’s not impossible.”
“I was just joking!” Song Youji hugged himself, trying to step back. “I’ll wait for you. But if I hear any rumors about you over there, I’ll assume we’re done.”
“Absolutely impossible.” Zhao Jiu held his wrist tightly, pulling him to see the pile of things they bought today. He pulled out a white bag from it, precisely the set he had sneakily bought today.
“Before I leave, try on the clothes for me.”
Zhao Jiu showed unprecedented enthusiasm for this outfit, making Song Youji curious. When he took out the clothes, he realized they looked somewhat familiar.
Wait, weren’t these their high school uniforms?!
Where did Zhao Jiu get them? No, why did he buy them?!
“Specially bought for you, try it on for me.” Zhao Jiu had a hint of a smile, and he had gone through great lengths to find a similar style.
Blushing, Song Youji threw the clothes back into the bag. “I won’t wear it. I’ve graduated for so many years; what would I look like wearing this kind of clothes?”
“But I want to see.” Zhao Jiu used his usual coaxing techniques, cajoling Song Youji persistently. “Just try it, okay? I saw it, and I felt it suited you at first glance. Besides, I’m going back to the capital soon, and I won’t see you for a long time. Can’t you fulfill this little wish of mine before I leave?”
Seeing Song Youji’s expression loosen a bit, Zhao Jiu said, “How about I help you change?”
Song Youji grabbed his own collar. “No need! I’ll do it myself.”
Entering the bedroom with the bag, when he was changing, he found that the clothes were perfectly his size. The style was not a bit different from their high school uniforms; it was exactly the same. Looking at the face in the mirror, identical to the past, Song Youji felt emotional. He had no lofty ambitions in high school, and knowing the result of his childhood genetic test, he just wanted to become an ordinary Beta, build a happy little family with another Beta.
Over time, he did become a Beta, but he fell into Zhao Jiu’s hands. If he went back to high school and told his past self that he would be with Zhao Jiu in the future, he probably wouldn’t believe it.
Smiling in the mirror, Song Youji walked out of the bedroom, but Zhao Jiu’s figure was nowhere to be seen. He tentatively called Zhao Jiu’s name, and the response came from the study.
Suddenly, Song Youji had a bad premonition.
“Student Song, you’re late.”
The study was arranged like a classroom, and Zhao Jiu was also wearing a school uniform, sitting on the desk at the door, lazily looking at him.
“Where did you get so many desks?!” Song Youji suddenly felt a sense of shame. Not only desks, but there were also chairs, blackboards, and even a podium. It was the exact replica of their high school classroom.
“I don’t understand what you’re saying.” Zhao Jiu walked towards him, holding paper and a pen. “Being late for the morning reading is not a small matter. Do you remember the rules you set for yourself?”
Song Youji was stunned for a moment; he really couldn’t remember.
“Students who are late for the morning reading are responsible for a day of duty. Those who are late three times or more are responsible for a week. Student, you’ve been late twice this week; if it happens again, you’ll be responsible for next week’s duty.”
“No more next time.” Although Song Youji felt embarrassed, he naturally immersed himself in the situation.
Suddenly, Zhao Jiu smirked and used the pen to poke at Song Youji’s tie, saying, “Today is your third time being late.”
What?! Bringing this too?
“Zhao Jiu, don’t arbitrarily change the rules. I’ve never been so…so…” Song Youji frowned, starting to contemplate what kind of disciplinary committee member he was in high school to leave such a deep impression on Zhao Jiu.
Zhao Jiu continued with the plot, “However, I can help you scratch off this one, as long as you… Hmm?”
He lifted Song Youji’s chin, using a single hand to undo his tie.
The plot developed in a direction Song Youji hadn’t anticipated. He raised his arm in protest, saying, “I’ve never allowed favoritism! Don’t tarnish my reputation!”
“You were an exemplary student, but I wasn’t.” Zhao Jiu sat him down on the desk. “You bribe me, and I’ll let you off.”
“I don’t want to!” The diligent student Song Youji refused, “This is against the school rules. I am a member of the disciplinary committee and cannot break the law. I’d rather accept punishment!”
“Well then,” the mischievous student Zhao Jiu knew how to be flexible. He said, “From now on, you’re a member of the disciplinary committee. I’m late, so I’ll bribe you.”
“I won’t accept bribes!” Song Youji hadn’t finished speaking when he suddenly felt a chill beneath him. Zhao Jiu had already begun his seduction.
Song Youji’s voice suddenly changed tone, but he persisted, saying, “This won’t work… I won’t, I won’t yield to you.”
“Student Song, except for being stubborn, you’re pretty much defenseless/”
Zhao Jiu looked at him, his face flushed, but his eyes still showed stubbornness. Zhao Jiu’s desire surged, overwhelming him. He should have done this long ago, turning Song Youji into his, making that stubborn mouth only able to call out his name.
A sense of competition rose in Zhao Jiu’s heart, and he used all his tricks. After a few moments, Song Youji confessed in his hands.
“It seems that even members of the disciplinary committee aren’t so upright after all. How about being a bad student today and experiencing the feeling of being reckless with me?” Zhao Jiu whispered in his ear, like a demon.
Song Youji was still caught up in the aftermath, his voice somewhat distant, “Don’t go too far.”
After getting permission, Zhao Jiu lifted him up and sat him on a desk in front of a large screen behind a blackboard. Surprisingly, the screen began playing a health education course that Song Youji had recorded for a teacher during his university days.
“Class is in session.” Zhao Jiu flipped Song Youji over, and the two sat facing each other. Zhao Jiu smiled with a hint of ambiguity, “Pay attention to the class.”
“…”
In that instant, a peak of shame overwhelmed Song Youji. Blushing and annoyed, he shouted, “Zhao Jiu, have you gone mad?! Are you a pervert?!”
“Hush, speak softly, don’t disturb the teacher’s class.”
Zhao Jiu placed his index finger on Song Youji’s lips and kissed him.
…
The next day, Song Youji woke up on a bumpy ride. Looking around at the completely unfamiliar surroundings, he thought Zhao Jiu had changed locations again, but there was no sign of Zhao Jiu.
After the classroom incident, the desks were too hard, and Song Youji’s body felt almost shattered. Moving even a little was uncomfortable, and his throat was sore from yelling.
Staring at the sky in despair, Song Youji suddenly noticed the familiar emblem of the Three Summer Legion on the ceiling!
“You’re awake, Youji.” Zhao Jiu walked over, helping him up. “Feeling uncomfortable?”
“You—” As soon as he spoke, Song Youji felt like his throat had been rubbed with sandpaper. He simply glared at Zhao Jiu, asking silently, ‘What do you think?’
“Sorry, Youji, I got too excited last night.” Zhao Jiu showed no signs of remorse. He kissed Song Youji’s neck and said, “But don’t worry, I’ve restored the study, and everything is clean. I got you a leave from the association, and Big Brother has returned with us.”
“Huh?” What does that mean?
“We’re on our way back to the capital. Hey, don’t hit me yet, let me explain. My father is perfectly fine; it was all Hudson’s doing. My father outsmarted him. Yuna has almost finished his preparations, and this time we go back, we’ll witness Hudson’s downfall.”
“Big Brother is with us too?” Song Youji covered his face. How did he get on the spaceship in front of Big Brother?
Seeing his thoughts, Zhao Jiu comforted, “Don’t worry, I’ve explained everything to Big Brother. You were tired, so I carried you up.”
Song Youji covered his mouth. Shut up!
“Youji, you won’t blame me for bringing you up here, right? This time, I also want to make it clear to my family. Except for you, I don’t want anyone else. If they disagree, I’ll elope with you.”
“Also, before I went to eliminate the star bandits, I already had Yuna help me book the Royal Garden for our wedding. The deposit is paid. Don’t you want to go see where we’ll get married? If you’re not satisfied, we can choose another place.”
With three sweet talks, Zhao Jiu gradually softened Song Youji’s gaze. He said, “Fulfill your wish.” After speaking, he lay down on the bed. “My throat hurts, I want water.”
“Here, warm.” Zhao Jiu had already prepared these things, along with some medicine. He moved around Song Youji, and while massaging his waist, suddenly remembered something. His face became serious. “Youji, this time, there won’t be any more conditions, right?”
“Since you asked, then it’s two weeks.” Song Youji sighed, saying, “I’m a Beta, not as physically fit as you guys, and I’m tired. Plus, you’re going back to the capital soon, and there must be a lot of things to handle. Two weeks without sex, is it too much?”
“…” Too much!”
Zhao Jiu made a cute puppy face, and dared not to speak. He howled, squatting down to continue massaging Song Youji’s waist.
To give to eat or not was up to Song Youji, but whether he could eat was his ability.
The future was long; no rush.
**
Upon reaching the capital, Zhao Jiu sent them back home and went alone to the hospital.
Song Jing received a message from Yuna as soon as he arrived home, asking if they wanted to go see Cheng Yuan. The evidence collection was complete, and Cheng Yuan was currently staying in the palace, well-protected.
Thinking of those things, Song Youji felt indescribable sadness. He didn’t know how to face Cheng Yuan with what kind of emotions. After struggling in his thoughts for half a day at home, Song Youji decided to go with Big Brother to pick up their mother.
He rarely set foot in the palace. In Song Youji’s eyes, it was like a magnificent golden cage. The former king had two wives and seven children, and although the princes and princesses seemed to get along, there were always hidden conflicts. After attending a state banquet once in his childhood, Song Youji completely disliked entering the palace.
Yuna personally came to pick them up. After a long absence, the warmth between the two old friends was slightly distant amid polite greetings. Song Youji’s gaze swept over the two, always feeling something was a bit off.
“Aunty has been staying with my little sister these days, and they get along very well. My little sister likes her a lot, and they get along harmoniously.” Yuna said.
Song Youji was somewhat surprised. Mother and the little princess were living together? Even if Yuna and Big Brother were old friends, wasn’t he being too good to his mother?
Song Jing didn’t think there was anything wrong. He thanked Yuna sincerely and, after that, brought Song Youji to his mother’s room. Yuna, being a gentleman, did not follow in, closing the door for the mother and son.
Cheng Yuan was sitting on a sunbed on the balcony, basking in the sun. There was a book about perfumes beside her, and a bunch of blue gladioli in front of her.
“Mother.” Song Jing called her, and Cheng Yuan turned her head. Full of tenderness, she seemed to have returned to her former self.
When she saw Song Youji, tears welled up in her eyes, choking out, “Youji, you’re back?”
“Mother, I’m back.” Song Youji tossed aside all the past issues. At this moment, he just wanted to hug his mother.
Cheng Yuan opened her arms, wanting to hug him, but hesitated and retracted her hands. Tearfully, she apologized, “I’m sorry, Youji. I did a lot of things that hurt you. I pushed everything that should have been my responsibility onto you. I’m sorry… sorry for not bearing the burden that should have been mine, sorry…”
Song Youji didn’t speak, just holding her tightly. Cheng Yuan was somewhat surprised by the warmth. She kept crying, saying, “I don’t know how to explain to you. I was too selfish, only thinking about myself.”
“Mother, please don’t say anything. Can we turn this page and move forward? From now on, what we need to do is wait for Hudson to be caught and for Father to be released on parole.”
The past, no matter which part, was too painful for Song Youji.
He didn’t want to bring up old matters, reopen wounds. He wanted to silently turn this page, and wait for time to heal everything. For them, it was the best way to resolve things.
Cheng Yuan made a sound of agreement and cried on his shoulder for a long time. When her emotions stabilized, the three of them sat on the balcony, basking in the sun, and chatted about everyday life.
Song Youji told Cheng Yuan that he was now with Zhao Jiu.
A hint of self-blame flashed across Cheng Yuan’s face, and she lowered her gaze, saying, “That child does indeed like you.”
“You know too?” Song Youji asked.
“Occasionally, I used to see him at the door. Your father and I even teased him that he came early to see his future wife, but we didn’t know which one he liked.”
Song Youji blushed. The whole world seemed to know that Zhao Jiu liked him, except for him and Zhao Jiu.
When it came to Zhao Jiu, Cheng Yuan still felt guilty towards Song Youji. She avoided this topic, looking at the blue gladiolus on the table and said, “The king is gentler than I imagined. After the little princess told him I liked blue gladiolus, someone brings a bouquet every day.”
There was a touch of regret in her tone, “The king is not young anymore, and he doesn’t even have a queen.”
Song Jing said, “Yuna hasn’t been in power for long, and the foundation is not stable. After dealing with Hudson’s matter, he will probably put the matter of choosing a queen on the agenda.”
By then, those people would press him, and not mentioning it would be impossible.
Cheng Yuan looked meaningfully at Song Jing, “You and the king are the same age. It’s time for you to find a stable partner too.”
Song Jing replied, “The king is the ruler of a country, and naturally, there are people anxious about his marriage. As for me, I haven’t met the right person yet, so I’m not in a hurry.”
“Then, we’re not in a hurry either.” Cheng Yuan smiled and, as she spoke, unexpectedly fell asleep on the sunbed.
Lowering his voice, Song Jing carried Cheng Yuan to bed. After they went out, he said to Song Youji, “Mother is currently receiving medication and psychological treatment. Due to the medication, she often falls asleep without realizing it. After she recovers, stopping the medication should be enough.”
Yuna was still waiting in the corridor. Song Youji was somewhat surprised, but Song Jing was used to it. He turned to him and said, “Yuna and I have something to discuss. Can you go back by yourself?”
“You go ahead; don’t worry about me.” Song Youji nodded, watching them walk away.
On his way back, Song Youji pondered. He didn’t know if it was his illusion, but it seemed that his brother and Yuna became even more intimate after reconciling.
But Yuna, being the king, was he being too good to his brother? To protect Cheng Yuan, it was enough to find a private hospital; why bring someone into the palace?
Song Youji didn’t understand the thoughts of this king. Just as he was contemplating, Zhao Jiu’s call came in, and he put aside the matter of his brother.
“Youji, where are you!”
“Just came out of the palace, on my way home.”
“You went to the palace?”
“Yeah, to see Mother.”
“Oh~ Where are you staying tonight? During the time I’m not around, the old man cleaned the house extra well. He misses you a lot.” Zhao Jiu dug a pit for Song Youji and waited for him to jump in by himself, then he could carry him away in a sack.
Song Youji pretended to be in thought, “Song Lan and Song Shan are coming back tonight. I want to have dinner with them.”
“The younger brother and sister are coming back? I can’t miss such an occasion.”
“They don’t even know you.”
“Eating a meal will get them acquainted! I happen to have nowhere to go tonight. Can I join you?”
“The old man misses you, right?” Song Youji laughed.
“I forgot my keys and can’t open the door. If you don’t take me in, I’ll be wandering the streets.”
Facing Zhao Jiu’s clumsy excuse, Song Youji smiled, “Alright, come find me tonight.”
He set the trap, Zhao Jiu jumped in. Zhao Jiu played along.
“By the way, how’s your father?”
“He’s doing well. The tubes in his body are just decorations. He almost got up and hit me.”
Listening to Song Youji’s voice, warmth rose in Zhao Jiu’s heart. His expression was very gentle, “Youji, I’ll be very busy starting tomorrow, at least for two or three days.”
It should be related to Hudson’s matter, but Song Youji didn’t ask, expressing understanding, “Perfect, I’ll take this time to go back to headquarters and see Sister Jia and the others.”
“…Is Qiao Si also there?”
“Yes, Qiao Si is working at the association now.” Song Youji was concerned about Qiao Si and his brother’s affairs, not planning to mention them to Zhao Jiu. Unexpectedly, Zhao Jiu brought it up himself. He felt a bit guilty, saying, “Qiao He is facing a fifteen-year sentence, and I guess he’s not feeling well.”
“He doesn’t need you to comfort him when he’s feeling bad.” Zhao Jiu, feeling jealous, directly cut off Song Youji’s thoughts. “His brother almost hurt you; I haven’t settled that score with him yet.”
“Alright, I won’t see him then.” Song Youji changed the topic and asked, “When will you be back?”
“Right away. Baby, wait for me. Kisses.”
After hanging up the phone, a row of people behind him was looking in Zhao Jiu’s direction, including his father, mother, and some colleagues.
“What are you looking at? Haven’t you seen someone talking to their wife on the phone?” Zhao Jiu shamelessly said, not feeling embarrassed at all. “Old man, if you don’t have anything else, I’ll leave.”
“Wait.” Seeing his son’s shamelessness, Zhao Tong, with an old face, said, “If you need any help, you can come to us.”
Although he didn’t like power, in the military and political departments over the years, he still had some close friends and trusted allies. When necessary, he could provide a little help to these two ambitious wolf cubs.
“No need.” Zhao Jiu said before leaving.
Zhao Tong’s colleagues laughed and said, “Indeed, the newly-born calf is not afraid of the tiger, and the waves behind the Yangtze River push the ones ahead!”
“His Majesty and the Marshal are no longer kids. We, the old folks, should retire and enjoy our later years.”
“Hudson has been in power for so many years, probably never thought that one day he would be plotted against by two kids.”
“The way of heaven has its own cycles.”
**
During the dinner with Zhao Jiu, Song Lan and Song Shan appeared much calmer than Song Youji had imagined. With three alphas in one scenario, if it weren’t for Song Jing presiding over, they might even have fought.
Song Lan: “Do you like my second brother?”
Zhao Jiu nodded, “Yes, and your second brother also likes me.”
Song Shan: “How do we know if you are sincere or not?”
Zhao Jiu: “What do you want me to do to prove it?”
Song Shan didn’t answer and changed the topic, asking, “Does my second brother love you? Is he good to you?”
“Of course,” Zhao Jiu confidently nodded.
Song Lan: “You’re talking nonsense; my second brother loves us the most.”
“Your brother loves me the most.” Zhao Jiu looked at Song Youji and said, “Isn’t that right?”
“…” Song Youji smiled and didn’t say anything.
“You three are really childish.” Song Jing glared at the two younger ones, “Song Lan, Song Shan, you’re both in college, what are you arguing with him for?”
Song Shan pouted, grumbling, “My second brother clearly loves us the most.”
To be honest, he was very disappointed with Zhao Jiu as her brother-in-law. In her original fantasy, their sister-in-law should be gentle, beautiful, intelligent, and generous, a perfect match with Song Youji.
But this Zhao Jiu looked unreliable, and he’s even an alpha!
Then her brother would be the one below! What if her brother was bullied by Zhao Jiu!
Knowing Song Shan’s thoughts, Song Youji almost burst out laughing. He pulled Song Shan aside to comfort her, “Cough, actually…”
“Actually, your brother is the one above.” Zhao Jiu overheard their conversation and came over to help Song Youji out.
Song Shan’s eyes immediately lit up, “Really?! But you’re an alpha.”
“Can’t alphas make sacrifices for love? Your brother is really the one above; you can ask him if you don’t believe me.”
Under Song Shan’s expectant gaze, Song Youji nodded with a guilty conscience, “He’s right.”
Navel oranges, why weren’t they counted as the top?
After overcoming the hurdle of meeting the younger brother and sister, Zhao Jiu only spent one night being affectionate with Song Youji before diving into the plan with Yuna.
In just two days, many things happened in the capital. Hudson, the head of the military and political department, fell from power, General Song’s old case was reopened, the military and political department underwent reforms, and a large number of people were dismissed. After disappearing for three months, the Three Summer Legion commander Marshal Zhao Jiu returned to the capital, bringing about a bloody storm.
Not only that, but Zhao Jiu, who had never accepted any interviews and regarded the media as garbage, for the first time actively requested an interview.
As he circled through the TV stations, everyone everywhere was in danger: the Marshal didn’t look like he was here for an interview but rather seeking revenge.
The small reporter in charge of interviewing him was trembling. When everything was ready, he asked the first question of the day, “Marshal, why did you suddenly agree to the interview?”
“You media love to make up stories and misinterpret things. There are some things I need to say personally.” As he spoke, Zhao Jiu had been playing with his fingers.
The small reporter noticed this, and in fact, the people in the TV station had noticed it a long time ago. On the ring finger of the Marshal’s right hand, he wore a black ring.
“What do you want to say, Marshal?”
Zhao Jiu generously showed the ring on his hand, “I’m getting married.”
The small reporter was shocked, her professional demeanor almost turned into foam, “With, with whom?”
“With the one you’ve written reports to discredit, Song Youji. I’ve liked him since high school, chased him for so long, and finally, we are getting married. You must report it truthfully, not missing a single word.”
“….Alright, alright. Then, Marshal, do you have anything you want to say about Hudson?”
“No. Comment.”
“Then, Marshal, when did you and His Majesty discover that Hudson was acting unusually?”
“Hudson has been overbearing for a long time, and we have been paying attention to the feedback from the people.”
Under the powerful pressure of Zhao Jiu, the small reporter finally couldn’t hold on and looked towards the control room for help: can’t continue, ah!
At the same time, Zhao Jiu also didn’t want to continue chatting with them. He stood up and was about to leave, “I came today to tell you about my marriage. I hope you can broadcast it all without any cuts. Between Song Youji and me, I pursued him persistently and finally got what I wanted. If I see anyone distorting the facts and angering my wife away, I will teach them a lesson.”
Zhao Jiu’s interview aired in the evening, causing a sensation throughout the capital.
So, the Marshal is so affectionate?
So, he and Song Youji are truly in love.
So… the Marshal is too cool in protecting his wife!
Upon seeing the interview, people rushed online to find pictures of Song Youji. They only remembered that Song Youji was handsome, but they couldn’t recall exactly what he looked like. Now, they wanted to relive the love story between these two peerless beauties.
However… searching the entire internet, not to mention the news at that time, they couldn’t even find a single picture of Song Youji.
Tsk, the Marshal is so petty.
At the same time, Song Youji was nestled in Zhao Jiu’s arms, watching the interview. His attention was entirely focused on the ring on Zhao Jiu’s hand.
“How come I haven’t seen this ring before? When did you buy it?”
Zhao Jiu was waiting for him to ask about this. He snapped his fingers, the lights in the room turned off, and the balcony lit up with lights.
“Come with me.” Zhao Jiu pulled him towards the balcony. Over the capital’s sky, golden fireworks burst open.
As a golden rose exploded in front of Song Youji, a small parachute descended with a black ring box. Zhao Jiu took the ring box, and inside was a ring identical to the one on Zhao Jiu’s hand.
“This is a kind of ore I discovered inside the wormhole during my two-time traversal. It appears black, but under the illumination of light, you can see a brilliant galaxy, a vast universe inside. I had it crafted into two rings, all for the purpose of proposing to you today.”
“Youji, I am immature, arrogant, and emotionally unintelligent. I don’t know how to love someone. Would you be willing to teach me?”
Zhao Jiu stared into Song Youji’s eyes, focused and affectionate.
Song Youji couldn’t help but laugh. He reached out his hand, saying, “Put it on for me.”
“You’d better think carefully. Putting it on means you accept my proposal.”
“If you don’t put it on, I’ll take it back.”
Zhao Jiu took only 0.3 seconds to put the ring on him, and he wrapped his arms around Song Youji’s waist, lifting him up. “You agreed to marry me; no turning back!”
“I got it, I got it, all this flashy stuff.”
Zhao Jiu carried Song Youji on his shoulders, “I’m too excited; I want to take you for a spin!”
Let everyone in the capital know that he has a wife now!
Song Youji was being carried by him, giggling incessantly.
He didn’t tell Zhao Jiu that, in these busy two days, Father Zhao had come to him and sincerely apologized.
“I always wanted to give my son the best, but I never asked him what he wanted.”
“The Zhao family has been pursuing pure blood for many years, but compared to my son’s happiness, that doesn’t matter at all.”
“My son is still young and ignorant. I’ll trouble you to take care of him in the future. Thank you.”
Song Youji never thought there was anything wrong with being a Beta. Just like Zhao Jiu, who loved him without caring about his status or gender.
Such pure and passionate love, he would reciprocate with the most sincere feelings.
Song Youji leaned against Zhao Jiu’s ear and called his name, “Zhao Jiu.”
“Hmm?”
“I love you.”
“Wife, I love you too! I love you the most in the whole world!”
Song Youji kissed his cheek and whispered, “Thank you for loving me.”
“I should be thanking you.”
Zhao Jiu stopped and said, “I’ve changed my mind. I don’t want to flaunt in front of them.”
At this moment, all he wanted to do was hold onto his precious treasure that came not easily.
Song Youji, a Beta, had an Alpha as his lover, but that was not important.
What mattered was their deep love for each other. When Song Youji was tired, Zhao Jiu would hold him, with only him in his eyes.
“Youji, let’s go home.”
