Yimi Economic Company.
Knock, knock—
“Come in.”
“Chief Yang, these are several revised marketing plans for the anchors. Please take a look.” The tall and glamorous young secretary, in her high heels, gracefully walked to the desk.
Yang Huaishan lifted his head, the beautiful face of the woman entered his sight, instantly refreshing his mood.
He put down his pen and beckoned, “Come, Xiao Mei.”
The female secretary curved her red lips into a sultry smile and sauntered around to the back of the desk. Then, with practiced ease, she settled onto the man’s lap.
In a coquettish tone, she teased, “In broad daylight, aren’t you afraid someone might see us?”
“Without my permission, who would dare to come in? Besides, it’s not the first or second time. Why are you still so reserved?”
“You rogue! You’re incorrigible!”
“Haha…” The woman’s coquetry brought forth a pleased chuckle from the man. “By the way, were the bosses satisfied with yesterday’s dinner?”
“Very satisfied! Jasmine and Xiao Xia’s service skills are well-known, but Zhu Zhu…” The woman hesitated.
Yang Huaishan furrowed his brows, “Is she still uncooperative?”
“Not only that,” the woman toyed with her nails, her tone casual, “but she also embarrassed Mr. Wang on the spot. If it weren’t for Jasmine’s quick reaction and her efforts to appease him, who knows how big a mess she would’ve caused! Mr. Wang is not someone to be trifled with.”
“What a fool!” Yang Huaishan cursed under his breath.
The woman glanced at him sideways, “I told you, you spoil Zhu Zhu too much. Although she’s a college student, cute as she is, in our line of work, being reserved won’t cut it. It’s okay once or twice for novelty, but if it becomes a habit, even other women will find it annoying and pretentious.”
“You can rest assured, I’ll deal with her!” Yang Huaishan gritted his teeth.
The woman’s eyes flashed with ridicule, deal with her?
Ah, he’ll probably forget everything once she pleases someone, leaving all troubles behind…
However, those weren’t her main concerns. Her eyes flickered as she changed the subject, “I heard Zhang Kehua asked you for some people?”
“You’re well-informed,” he replied ambiguously.
The woman’s heart skipped a beat, though she maintained her smile, “I care about all your affairs. Is that not allowed?”
Yang Huaishan embraced her waist, chuckling softly, “Of course it’s allowed, and I wouldn’t want it any other way.”
“What does he need them for?” she inquired.
“It seems there’s been some conflict with Jiang Chenxing’s side,” he vaguely answered.
“Hmph! I knew Zhang Kehua was unreliable. When Wu Qian was around, things never escalated to the point of needing reinforcements. Now, just a few days after taking over, they’re already at odds?” she scoffed.
Yang Huaishan remained noncommittal.
The woman grew increasingly uneasy, “Brother Yang, Zhang Kehua is restless. You shouldn’t take his words at face value.”
“Oh?” he raised an eyebrow. “What do you mean?”
“He’s been eyeing Jiang Chenxing as a cash cow from the start, trying every means to snatch him from Wu Qian’s hands. Remember how many times he came to you asking for a change of agents?”
“Yes, there was such a thing, but I didn’t agree.”
“Right after Wu Qian was caught embezzling fan donations, although the evidence was solid, there were still doubts. In this way, Jiang Chenxing naturally fell into his hands. Isn’t it too coincidental?”
“That’s quite a coincidence.”
“With his temper, after taking over Jiang Chenxing, he’ll definitely assert dominance right away to intimidate them. The conflict might have stemmed from that. Even if there was no conflict, he’d probably stir up trouble himself to show off, taking advantage of our power.”
Yang Huaishan nodded, “Little Zhang has always been like this.”
“Yes, you’ve often covered for him…” She paused abruptly, her gaze suddenly turning up, “Wait a minute… why are you so calm?”
Yang Huaishan smiled darkly.
The woman blinked, “Do you have something you’re not telling me? Spit it out!”
While coaxing him, she poked his chest.
Yang Huaishan was quite pleased with her behavior. “Do you think I can’t see through Little Zhang’s little schemes?”
“What do you mean? Do you know that Wu Qian was innocent?”
“Wu Qian? Haha…” Yang Huaishan sneered, “He’s insignificant, just a pawn. He was caught by Zhang Kehua because of his own stupidity. Whether there’s one more or one less agent, it doesn’t matter.”
“Moreover, after securing Jiang Chenxing such a lucrative contract, where does the interest of the entire company lie? Letting him continue would mean the entire company working for a little brat. Forgetting who his real benefactor is, why keep such a person around?”
The woman pursed her lips, thinking about how he had agreed to that contract in the first place.
Now, seeing Jiang Chenxing’s growing popularity and increasing earnings day by day, he had become a rising star in the live broadcast industry. If properly planned and marketed, his future would be limitless. At this moment, he regretted the contract they signed, blaming Wu Qian for it.
“Hmm…” the woman suddenly realized, “If you’re intending to keep Jiang Chenxing, to elevate him further, why not send a more agreeable agent to handle it? Why let Zhang Kehua cause trouble?”
Yang Huaishan smirked, “I intend to keep Jiang Chenxing, but why elevate him? On what grounds?”
The woman didn’t understand, her expression showing her confusion.
“With a contract period of one year, he can leave whenever he wants, and the penalty clause has been reduced by sixty percent. Additionally, there’s an additional provision for reverse claims. If the company breaches the contract, he can hold us legally accountable. With all these terms, I wonder how Wu Qian negotiated this contract in the first place! It’s like playing with the company’s interests! In such a situation, how can I elevate Jiang Chenxing? How can I dare to elevate him?”
“If I give him resources, invest money, and one day he suddenly runs away, the company will lose everything. I’m not stupid, how could I take such a risk?”
“At the moment, I know of six talent agencies that want to poach Jiang Chenxing, offering him terms that are fifty percent better than ours. Money talks, and with Jiang’s family’s shabby conditions, it’s only a matter of time before they’re tempted.”
“What do you plan to do?” the woman asked.
“Let Zhang Kehua undermine Jiang’s family’s morale a bit, so they won’t think they can trample over my company just because they have Jiang Chenxing. They might think twice about crossing me!”
“But…” the woman hesitated, “If Zhang Kehua really ruins the relationship between us and Jiang family, they might hold a grudge and refuse to cooperate with us, making things even more troublesome!”
Yang Huaishan half-closed his eyes, exuding confidence. “What did I do? What did the company do? It’s all Zhang Kehua stirring up trouble under the guise of authority. When the time is right, I’ll personally apologize and fire Zhang Kehua, that troublemaker. Do you think the Jiang family will resent me or be grateful?”
The woman suddenly understood, “Brother Yang, you’re so clever!”
But Zhang Kehua was in for a rough time. He thought he was invincible, but he had unknowingly become a stepping stone, only to be discarded once the Jiang family was pacified.
Yang Huaishan stroked the woman’s chin, enjoying the smooth, delicate touch, and smirked. “This trick is called ‘hit them hard and then give them a sweet treat.’ Got it?”
“With such an excellent teacher, how could I not learn?” The woman giggled coquettishly.
Yang Huaishan sighed lightly, as if already seeing the Jiang family grateful to him in the near future. “By then, I’ll seize the opportunity to have them sign a new contract, keeping Jiang Chenxing tied up for another ten years or so…”
The woman was about to flatter him when a loud bang interrupted them.
The door was forcefully pushed open from the outside, and another secretary hurried in, “Chief Yang, you—”
Seeing the two entangled, she was instantly stunned.
Chief Yang and Xiao Mei? They were actually…?!
“Ah—” the woman screamed, quickly getting off the man’s lap, hastily adjusting her disheveled collar, her eyes flashing with embarrassment and anger.
Yang Huaishan’s face had already turned black as coal. He roared at the stunned secretary, “Get out! Is this your first day here? Don’t you know to knock?!”
“Chief Yang, I…”
“No excuses, go to finance and get this month’s salary, then pack your things and get out!”
The secretary finally snapped back to reality, “Chief Yang, let me explain, there’s a group of people outside—”
“What explanation? Don’t you understand? Get out of here!”
“Chief Yang, what a temper you have.” A clear, cold voice came from the doorway. A young girl stepped in slowly, a smile on her lips that didn’t reach her eyes.
Yang Huaishan was taken aback, “Who are you?”
The secretary, head bowed, whispered, “I came to tell you, someone has forced their way into the company…”
