Chapter 41

According to the Federal Mental Health Law, psychologists like Zhao Dongqi don’t have the authority to diagnose visitors. So what Qin Muye currently held in his hands wasn’t a psychological diagnosis but merely Zhao Dongqi’s casual notes.
This piece of paper briefly documented the duration, frequency, and depth of each session between Zhao Dongqi and Rong Qiu.
It bore Zhao Dongqi’s distinctive style.
Qin Muye scrutinized it carefully.
He could still vaguely discern phrases like “memory erasure” and several similar terms.
Even though Qin Muye was not an expert, he could understand what Rong Qiu had undergone during his sessions with Zhao Dongqi.
Five years ago, Rong Qiu underwent hypnosis, and Zhao Dongqi was the hypnotist.
Everything suddenly made sense.
The reason Rong Qiu forgot about him five years later was that Rong Qiu underwent hypnosis.
Rong Qiu erased his memories!
But there were memories related to him!
Reaching this conclusion, Qin Muye stood there blankly, as if struck by an invisible thunderbolt.
He was like a patient lying on a hospital bed, fully awake but with confused perception. In a place Qin Muye didn’t notice, the alpha’s hands trembled like bamboo leaves in the wind. The sweat in his palms dampened the fragile paper, staining a corner.
Forgetting was the most difficult thing.
Yet, Rong Qiu easily achieved it.
He went to a psychological clinic to undergo hypnosis and erase his own memories.
During this process, Rong Qiu removed all memories related to him.
He forgot about him.
He forgot about everything between them five years ago.
The man, rarely showing weakness, used his elbows to support his body due to weak legs. Leaning against the cold wall, he felt a chilling emptiness in his heart.
Qin Muye’s thoughts moved slowly.
In his view, Rong Qiu washing away memories was akin to discarding the past and embracing a new self. Beyond shock, only waves of unbearable pain remained in his heart. He would rather Rong Qiu still remembered him, harbored hatred, and could even maliciously act against him when they met, driven by the pain of five years ago.
Even if not love, Rong Qiu should have kept hating him.
But now, standing in front of Rong Qiu, he was just an insignificant person.
The grief and sorrow were so intense that they were almost impossible to conceal. It was far more painful than Rong Qiu remembering him or physically confronting him, or even saying hurtful words without reservation.
Because he was completely abandoned by Rong Qiu.
No love, no hatred—nothing.

Upon receiving Qin Muye’s video and text messages again, Rong Qin wisely didn’t open them immediately.
Currently, he was in the restaurant with Rong Qiu and Zhao Nanchen, waiting for Zhao Dongqi to arrive. Rong Qin glanced at his phone and, just by reading the texts, already knew the situation on Qin Zexi’s side.
Susceptible period outbreak, needing his reassurance.
Rong Qin gritted his teeth, thinking he couldn’t go so easily. Nevertheless, he displayed the discomfort to the extreme on his face.
Looking away from his phone, Rong Qiu asked, “Did something urgent come up for Brother Rong Qin?”
Rong Qin impatiently pressed the phone off, “Indeed, there’s something urgent. I might need to go out for a while.”
Rong Qiu nodded.
Zhao Nanchen also nodded.
***
Rong Qin drove to Qin Muye’s villa at the fastest speed allowed by traffic regulations.
The previous times Qin Muye sent him videos of Qin Zexi crying after drinking, he wasn’t this nervous because he knew Qin Zexi had just drunk too much and was acting up.
But the susceptible period was different.
This was the most vulnerable time for Qin Zexi.
This vulnerability wasn’t about physical strength but mental. Any trace of evidence could make the usually smart and wise alpha’s brain completely collapse. The Federation had numerous examples of susceptible period alphas turning into imbeciles, and there were many cases like that.
Especially for an alpha like Qin Zexi.
The stronger he was, the weaker he became during the susceptible period. Not to mention Qin Zexi, who was prone to losing control and even had a tendency for self-harm.
Fortunately, Qin Zexi had Qin Muye by his side.
But when Rong Qin arrived at Qin Muye’s house, he was greeted by two abnormal alphas.
Qin Zexi, weakened by the susceptible period, might self-harm again if he didn’t come quickly.
Rong Qin was well aware of this.
But what was going on with Qin Muye?
Qin Muye, who had always been more stable than Qin Zexi, now looked even worse than Qin Zexi. His face was devoid of color, and even his pale lips had a hint of white.
As Rong Qin approached, the man’s eyes seemed as deep as the ancient well, “Thank you. My brother is upstairs.”
“I understand.”
After Rong Qin finished speaking, he added, “I haven’t forgiven him yet. I’m here just because I don’t want to see him die during his susceptible period.”
“This is between you two, and I won’t interfere.”
Rong Qin was surprised, raising an eyebrow to look at him again.
Normally, Qin Muye wouldn’t be so easy to talk to. They had mutual dislikes, and although Qin Muye wouldn’t let Qin Zexi find a new partner, he was always unfriendly. It was the first time Qin Muye had declared that he wouldn’t intervene in the matter between him and Qin Zexi.
After saying this, Qin Muye turned and led the way.
Rong Qin felt even more puzzled.
Rong Qin glanced at Qin Muye’s back, for some reason, he felt that Qin Muye’s state was also not right. There was an indescribable sense of fragility about him. Each step forward seemed unreal, as if he might tilt his head back and fall at any moment.
But he quickly had no time to worry about Qin Muye.
Rong Qin entered Qin Zexi’s room.
As a beta, Rong Qin couldn’t smell the scent of pheromones, but he could sense an unbearable oppressive force in the air.
This is the dominance of an alpha.
Even facing a beta with extremely weak pheromone perception, there would still be some influence. Currently, what Rong Qin was experiencing was the negative impact. Even though the alpha who fell asleep tiredly on the bed was in a deep slumber, the scent of pheromones continued to emanate from his neck.
Enduring this almost unbearable oppression, Rong Qin locked Qin Muye outside the door.
“I’ll take care of it here. You don’t need to worry. Just make sure to send three meals regularly.”
“Okay.”
“The isolation system in the room should be turned on, don’t turn it off, keep it on continuously.”
“Okay.”
Rong Qin continued speaking, and Qin Muye responded accordingly.
It was surprisingly easy to communicate, even Rong Qin was surprised.
Forget it.
Thinking about what Qin Muye would do now was not important. The alpha in the room, who was in a dazed state, was the focus.
Just before Rong Qin completely closed the door, he called Qin Muye back, “Oh, there’s one more thing.”
Qin Muye stopped his hesitant steps.
“Tell your subordinates to quickly bring my suitcase from Rong Qiu’s place. Make sure to tell Rong Qiu that it’s the one with my clothes.”
This sentence was a bit long, and when Qin Muye heard the name Rong Qiu, his expression finally changed slightly.
The previously decaying and despondent aura scattered a bit, like a mosquito in the dark seeing light.
Seeing this change, Rong Qin sneered, “I know you’ve already met. If he forgot about you, just ask him politely; don’t provoke him.”
The phrase “he forgot about you” was truly heart-wrenching.
The light in the S-rank alpha’s eyes scattered for a moment, and he returned to his usual listless state, like an irredeemable person trapped in mud.
***
On the other side with Rong Qiu, Rong Qiu and Zhao Nanchen had already met with Zhao Dongqi.
Zhao Nanchen was shivering throughout, afraid that his brother would beat him on the spot.
His brother was super fierce.
But Zhao Dongqi didn’t even look at him the whole time. At the dining table, he treated Rong Qiu kindly, making Zhao Nanchen both anxious and fearful. The calmness before the storm was the scariest.
When he came over, for the convenience of working in the Thirteenth Military District and having a “heart-to-heart” talk with his younger brother, Zhao Dongqi’s hotel was booked not far from Rong Qiu’s house. After dinner, they all left together. They were heading to Rong Qiu’s house to have another conversation.
It was only then that Zhao Dongqi realized he seemed to have left his notebook at Qin Muye’s house.
Seeing his brother searching for it, Zhao Nanchen skillfully switched to complaining mode, “Brother, did you forget something again?”
His brother was good at many things, except for having a poor memory.
Always forgetful.
Once, when he went out to play with his ex-girlfriend, he even left her behind in the movie theater, coming out alone.
He could even lose a person.
Zhao Nanchen had already accepted his brother’s characteristic of being alone forever.
So, he thoughtfully bought a double grave.
It would be reliable for him and his brother to be buried together.
Zhao Dongqi didn’t know that Zhao Nanchen was silently mocking him. At this moment, he leaned out of the car and apologized to Rong Qiu, “I was planning to have another conversation with Mr. Rong, but it seems I left something elsewhere.”
Rong Qiu, with his hands in his pockets, shook his head nonchalantly, “No hurry, we can talk when you have time.”
“Alright, I want to take Nanchen back to my hotel for a talk. He won’t be coming back tonight.”
Zhao Nanchen: !!
Even if Rong Qiu wanted to help, he couldn’t save Zhao Nanchen.
Zhao Dongqi was determined to straighten out Zhao Nanchen.
Helpless, Rong Qiu could only watch Zhao Nanchen’s pleading eyes, shrugging and sympathizing.
***
Back home.
Tired, Rong Qiu laid on the sofa.
There were too many things happening these days.
His heart could only hold so much, and apart from his work at the research institute, his social circle was quite barren—Rong Qin was considered one, and now Zhao Nanchen and Chu Ming.
But the relationship with Chu Ming was a bit tricky.
He still needed to figure out how to tell Chu Ming tonight to move out.
When Chu Ming wanted to come and stay initially, Rong Qiu thought it would be troublesome. But at that time, Chu Ming was so miserable, carrying a few suitcases to seek refuge with him. People said his parents had cut off his bank cards, so what else could he do?
He could only let Chu Ming temporarily stay at his place.
But now, it seemed better to move out.
Zhao Nanchen seemed to be moving out too. This house would be best with only him.
Rong Qiu had not even rested for ten minutes when someone rang the doorbell.
Brother Rong Qin was out on business, Chu Ming was working in the military camp, and Zhao Nanchen was taken to the hotel by Zhao Dongqi. Who else could it be?
Casually kicking his shoes off, Rong Qiu walked over to open the door.
Before opening the door, through the peephole, he saw a familiar and cold yet handsome face.
The daylight shone beautifully, casting a soft glow on half of his face, emphasizing the other half’s deep and distinctive bone structure. Perhaps sensing that he had walked up to the door, the man tilted his head slightly, calmly observing him with those plain and cool eyes.
Their gazes confronted each other.
Rong Qiu’s heart suddenly trembled.
For no apparent reason.
He had to admit that he was somewhat of a face-con person.
At least Qin Muye had this carefully crafted face from Nüwa. He remained silent for a moment, opening the door slightly.
Half of Rong Qiu’s head appeared through the brown lacquer door, and he watched Qin Muye warily, “Commander Qin, is there something you need?”
Seeing Rong Qiu’s guardedness, and knowing that Rong Qiu had already erased memories related to him, Qin Muye silently clenched his fists where Rong Qiu couldn’t see.
But this time, he chose to get straight to the point, “Rong Qin asked me to come and get his suitcase.”
Upon hearing the name Rong Qin, Rong Qiu’s tense brows eased a bit, but he still didn’t let the person in, “Do you know Rong Qin?”
“He is the partner of my brother.”
Rong Qiu suddenly widened his eyes, “Your brother is the dog alpha mentioned by Brother Rong Qin?”
Rong Qiu said this in a low voice, muttering to himself. After all, he was too amazed; the world was so small that they had formed a closed loop.
Even though Rong Qiu’s voice was low, Qin Muye, with excellent hearing, heard it clearly.
To some extent, Rong Qiu was right.
Rong Qin had always considered his brother as a dog alpha.
Confirming that Qin Muye had no ill intentions, Rong Qiu restrained his expression and let the person in, “Change your shoes.”
Qin Muye was stunned. He hadn’t expected Rong Qiu to actually let him in. But soon, he stepped inside.
The shoes at the entrance were neatly arranged. Some pairs were distinctive, obviously belonging to regular residents.
Thinking about who the regular residents might be, Qin Muye’s mood turned sour again.
He was jealous, bitter.
Rong Qiu forgot about him but found a new bed partner.
However, he silently suppressed these dark and unhealthy emotions. Following Rong Qiu, he obediently changed into a pair of white disposable slippers. However, in the process of changing shoes, his gaze passed over a pair of black wolf slippers, a Q-version animal design with a “Q” tag in its mouth. It was placed at the innermost side, obviously not worn frequently.
Did anyone with the letter “Q” exist around Rong Qiu?
If it were the previous Qin Muye, he would have thought that these shoes were left for him.
But now, Qin Muye wouldn’t think that way.
Rong Qiu had completely forgotten about him.
So, these shoes were left for someone else.
Qin Muye searched through his memories.
Rong Qiu’s name abbreviation was RQ, and so was Rong Qin’s. Perhaps these shoes were Rong Qiu’s backup shoes or belonged to Rong Qin.
So, what was the use of thinking so much?
With the changed shoes, Qin Muye followed Rong Qiu, mirroring his every step, like a shadow.
Originally, Rong Qiu didn’t plan to let him go upstairs, but he wasn’t sure which suitcase belonged to Rong Qin, so he tacitly allowed Qin Muye to accompany him.
The first and second floors were no different.
Once on the second floor, Qin Muye felt more comfortable.
It gave him a feeling of entering Rong Qiu’s private domain.
The decorations on the first floor were too messy and didn’t have a consistent style. The husky on the sofa and the blinking lilies on the table on the terrace were not the flowers Rong Qiu liked.
Rong Qiu liked yellow roses as bright as the morning sun.
After climbing the stairs, there was a not-so-long corridor. To the left and right were rooms, and at the end was an outdoor terrace.
Rong Qiu led Qin Muye towards the room on the right.
Rong Qiu stopped in front of a room, preparing to turn the doorknob. However, just in the short span of one or two seconds, his shoulder and back were forcibly pushed against a hot wall.
Qin Muye was too close.
Directly crashing into him.
Rong Qiu felt annoyed. Not waiting for him to turn around and push the man away, a long and powerful arm passed through the side of his ear, directly landing on the two-meter-high door frame.
“Don’t move.”
The man’s voice was low and hoarse.
Rong Qiu’s ears twitched slightly. Soon, he watched in silence as the man’s fingertips quietly picked up a familiar exquisite metal object – a miniature camera.
