Chapter 49: Wedding

“The Prince hasn’t come out yet?” Hanchester asked Raptor, who was standing guard at the door. He knocked on the door, but there was no response from inside.

Raptor sighed with an old-fashioned air. Its mechanical arm extended and retracted a few times, trying to convey something. The little robot expressed its concern, “The master hasn’t eaten for several days. Prime Minister also came before, but when he heard the master won’t open the door, he left. The General is too busy, and I don’t know who to find to persuade the Prince. He hasn’t come out since he returned from Dr. Xu’s place.”

Hanchester furrowed his brow upon hearing this. He continued knocking on the door, but Dong Du still didn’t respond. Afraid that something might happen to Dong Du alone inside, he contacted the control room and had Dong Du’s door opened.

With a click, the electronic lock was released. The moment he pushed the door open, the huge floor-to-ceiling window in the room shattered. However, what Hanchester saw first was a glider, an old-fashioned model from hundreds of years ago.

Novisane hugged Dong Du tightly. Both were holding onto the glider’s handle. Novisane exerted force, and the glider, carrying the two of them, descended from the high tower like two lead balls.

Something from hundreds of years ago, operated by very few people today. Who knows if it can fly?

Hanchester’s heart almost stopped beating. He rushed to the window, only to see Dong Du and Novisane safely flying quite a distance away, just halfway up the tower.

His heart finally settled, and he turned to see the little robot shaking its head. “It seems we don’t need to worry.”

“I’ve been waiting at the door and didn’t see the Prime Minister coming in.” Raptor was puzzled. Sliding on its wheels, it reached the window and suddenly understood.

There was a clear footprint by the window. The Prime Minister climbed in through the window.

The whistling wind blew away Dong Du’s shouts. When the glider landed by the artificial lake inside the high tower’s territory, he had completely calmed down. The suffocation in his chest seemed to be dispersed by the wind. He took a deep breath, and all thoughts disappeared from his mind.

“Feeling good?” Novisane stood by and watched him. The pink candy in his mouth was faintly visible. This guy kept eating candy without stopping.

“Feeling good.” Dong Du exhaled and asked, “Why do you always eat peach-flavored candy? Let me taste it.”

“No, you can’t have this one.” Novisane laid down on the grass. “If you want, I’ll get you another flavor when we go back.”

“Why can’t I have it?” Dong Du also laid down. The topics at this moment did not need a purpose. They just enjoyed chatting casually.

Novisane turned over, propped up his body, and looked at Dong Du. “Don’t you know? Everyone in our family is crazy.”

Dong Du was momentarily stunned. He did say before that Novisane was crazy, but he meant it in the sense that he acted eccentrically and unpredictably, not with any deeper meaning.

Seeing that Dong Du seemed genuinely unaware, Novisane continued after lying back down, “I can’t control myself. In this candy, there’s actually a certain amount of sedative.”

“Why are you telling me this?” Dong Du asked. It seemed like he didn’t consider the inability to control himself a big deal.

“I want you to understand all my flaws,” Novisane chuckled. There was a subtle gentleness in his voice as he continued, “I want to marry you, based on your complete acceptance of me, both the good and all my flaws.”

Dong Du turned to lie on his side, facing away from Novisane, and his ears turned red. “I can list ten of your flaws, but do you have any virtues?”

“You don’t need many virtues. Having one that can move people is enough,” Novisane curiously asked him, “Do I have such a virtue in your eyes?”

Dong Du pondered for a long time, then asked in confusion, “Is relentless pursuit considered a virtue?”

Novisane burst into laughter but didn’t continue that topic. Instead, he asked, “The Qin family’s wedding is approaching. Have you decided on a gift? How’s your suit for the occasion?”

“Suit?” Dong Du sat up straight, realizing he hadn’t thought about whether or not to wear a suit to attend a wedding.

Seeing his reaction, Novisane understood. Dong Du didn’t care, and all of Xi Yuan’s arrangements were handled by the servants. Hence, no one paid attention to the fact that this little prince didn’t actually know he needed to wear a suit for the Qin family wedding.

“Don’t worry about it. Leave it to me,” Novisane said. “There will be many people from Clos’s capital star coming as well.”

“Indeed,” Dong Du was unenthusiastic about the people from the capital star. After all, most of the guests were likely his enemies; the little prince had no friends.

But in the blink of an eye, the Qin family’s wedding arrived.

Dong Du looked at the white suit he was wearing, suspecting that it might get dirty when he ate later. He felt like changing the color, but Novisane was already waiting for him on the high tower.

They hadn’t arrived at the wedding venue yet, but the people from the capital star had already arrived early. Since it took time to travel from the capital star, they had nowhere to go after reaching the Black Gold Fortress, so they arrived at the Qin family’s residence early.

The guests gathered at the Qin family, whether alpha, omega, or beta, were all dressed elegantly and splendidly. They all came from the capital star and more or less knew each other. Sitting together at the moment, they were boredly chatting.

One flamboyantly dressed male omega asked the person beside him, “By the way, do you remember the little prince? He was sent to the Black Gold Fortress by His Majesty. It’s been so long; I wonder how unfortunate he’s become!”

“Haha, he used to be so arrogant. Now that he’s down on his luck, shouldn’t we congratulate him? He should be coming to the Qin family later, right?”

“After going to the Black Gold Fortress, does he have money to spend? What if he’s still wearing old-fashioned suits? My goodness, I’m sure he’ll be embarrassed.”

“Don’t say that, it’s really possible. When he arrives later, let’s go say hello to him.”

The nobles from the capital star considered themselves part of the upper-class circle. After coming here, they couldn’t be bothered to interact with the country bumpkins from the Black Gold Fortress. If it weren’t for the special nature of this wedding, they probably wouldn’t have come. But even so, it was still good to see the suffering little prince.

The wedding was held outdoors, and the venue gradually became lively. The people from the capital star and the Black Gold Fortress did not interfere with each other, forming two separate circles.

Dong Du and Novisane went out together. Every step they took, they encountered familiar faces. What was originally a walk for two turned into a group of five. Zhu Di, Hanchester, and Meng Ruan were all encountered by Dong Du at the entrance of the high tower.

They came in the same car, and Dong Du felt crowded. He walked at the front of the group of four. As soon as they entered the venue, he was captivated by the various cakes on display, not only cakes but also champagne towers. However, he had never drunk alcohol before, so he didn’t know if it was good.

The five of them took their seats together, but Dong Du couldn’t resist for long. He wanted to go eat the small cakes, fearing that the flavors he liked might be gone later.

Seeing that he couldn’t sit still, Zhu Di, without lifting his head, said, “You can go eat, Your Highness.”

Dong Du made a sound of acknowledgment and quickly got up to go to the cake area.

Dong Du looked too dazzling. At first, the nobles from the capital star didn’t realize that the person picking cakes was the little prince. It wasn’t until someone voiced their doubts.

“Hey, that person looks a lot like the little prince.”

“Which one? That can’t be right. The clothes he’s wearing, the fabric is good, and it’s not an old-fashioned suit.”

“Then, could he be doing well in the Black Gold Fortress?”

“…Impossible. By the way, where’s Xia En? If he’s here, we can ask.”

“Lita, why don’t you go ask him?”

The named female omega made a dissatisfied sound, saying, “Why should I go? I don’t want to talk to him.”

“Have you forgotten that he once embarrassed you at the ball? Now’s your chance,” someone nearby encouraged her.

After thinking about it, she felt it made sense. Lita walked over arrogantly, but the grass was uneven, and she was wearing high heels. She couldn’t catch up with Dong Du, who was weaving through the cake forest, almost without stopping.

Lita’s feet were sore, and Dong Du finally sat down holding a cake. Although there were four other people at the table, this place couldn’t have any important figures. Having someone was just right, and she could humiliate Dong Du in front of others!

She walked over angrily, but the uneven ground and her high heels caused her to lose balance. With a loud “smack,” she fell straight at Dong Du’s feet.

Dong Du: ?

He was still eating a lemon-flavored small cake, and his eyes widened in surprise. However, he quickly reacted, stood up, and helped Lita up. “Do you want this small cake?”

When he took it just now, there was indeed only one lemon-flavored small cake, and this person had been in the cake area all the time.

Lita’s face turned red. “You, only you want this small cake!”

Dong Du thought for a moment, finding this omega’s words really strange, but he was righteous, “I just want the small cake!”

Lita was so angry that she cried. She had not yet achieved victory, but she was hindered by a pair of high heels. Moreover, this little prince, he didn’t even recognize her.

“Don’t cry, I’ll give you some. It’s just a little cake.” Dong Du hurriedly cut the lemon-flavored small cake in half, leaving a tiny piece, and handed it to Lita. “Here, why do you girls want everything? If you can’t get it, you’ll cry.”

Lita: She already said she didn’t want the small cake!

Lita looked at the tiny piece of cake in front of her, facing the indifferent eyes of the other four men, feeling a lot of pressure, and ate it.

It was so sour, too sour.

She sniffled and stood up, walked back with her head held high, and then told her companions who were watching the show, “That’s not the little prince.”

The little prince wouldn’t share his cake with her!
