Are All You Straight Guys Like This Chapter 25

The New Relationship Part 3

Original Poster: 【I’m speechless. Just went to ask our campus heartthrob for his WeChat, and he told me he has a boyfriend. I thought, who could it be? Looked up—and it’s his straight roommate! Straight guy pretending to be gay, may thunder strike you! Anyone got insider info—are they real or fake? Do I still have a chance??】

1F: Front row for drama. Let’s decode this at the speed of light.

2F: It’s an anonymous forum—just say their names already.

3F: The roommate’s probably Ye Ran, right? Those two are glued together all day. Maybe he’s just using Ye Ran as a shield.

4F: I thought our campus heartthrob was above this. Using such a cheap trick?

5F: Filter shattered. If the guy’s straight, then it’s obviously fake.

The first ten or so comments were all in agreement— Blaming Shen Shi for being underhanded and calling Ye Ran a straight guy pretending to be gay.

But starting from the 15th comment, the tone of the entire thread suddenly shifted.

15F: ???

16F: Wait a sec? Am I misunderstanding something? Who are they saying is straight?

17F: Ye Ran. Shen Shi’s roommate.

18F: Huh? Ye Ran’s straight?

19F: Yeah.

20F: Are you sure? Ye Ran’s total top-tier eye candy—every 1 who’s seen him wants his WeChat. Even Liang Feng from the art department, who’s been chasing him forever, couldn’t win him over. You think he’s pretending to be gay? Come on.

21F: I’ve been gay for ten years. If I can’t tell whether Ye Ran’s straight or not, I might as well retire. He’s clearly straight!

A gay guy who wandered into the forum: Ye Ran’s gay.

The gays in the forum: Ye Ran’s straight.

Wandered-in gay: He admitted he’s gay during truth or dare. My friend heard it firsthand.

Forum gays: Got proof? Slap it in my face. I can also say he admitted to being straight.

Wandered-in gay: Don’t talk crap. If Ye Ran’s straight, I’ll wash my hair standing on my head.

Forum gays: If Ye Ran’s gay, I’ll eat sh*t live on stream.

Wandered-in gay: …

Forum gays: …

Both sides went silent, equally shocked by the bold declarations.

Suddenly, all the gays—both forum regulars and outsiders—fell into existential confusion.

Wait… could Ye Ran actually not be gay?

Impossible. If Ye Ran wasn’t gay, then their “relationship” was clearly fake. But if he was gay, then that ten-year veteran wouldn’t have sworn on his pride.

The two factions stared at each other’s comments across the internet, their dignity hanging by a thread.

No—better to die than lose gay pride! If Ye Ran really was gay or straight, that would mean someone’s gaydar had failed catastrophically!

By the 30th comment, the thread’s tone mutated again.

Wandered-in gay: …Okay, maybe you have a point.

Forum gays: You probably aren’t talking out of nowhere either.

Wandered-in gay: I suspect… Ye Ran used to be straight.

Forum gays: I suspect… Ye Ran recently got bent.

Wandered-in gay: Yes, yes.

Forum gays: Exactly.

Wandered-in gay: Rainbow meets rainbow, and they bend each other.

Forum gays: They’re gay for each other now—but to this day, we still don’t know who bent first.

The original poster, realizing his thread had completely derailed from its purpose of condemning Shen Shi and Ye Ran, finally couldn’t hold back.

OP: Are you people insane? Ye Ran’s obviously straight! What’s there to argue about? They’re faking it! How can you just let them off like this? You’re polluting the ecosystem of the gay community!

Wandered-in gay: Almost forgot about you.

Forum gays: Oh right, there’s still you.

Wandered-in gay: You little brat. They’re happily in love—does that bother you? We gays aren’t like you. Go suck on a sour plum if you’re that bitter. Playing third wheel, you idiot.

Forum gays: Trying to steal someone’s man and acting smug about it? If I were Ye Ran, I’d slap you right now. Bad vibes—close the thread, close it! The feng shui here’s rotten, there’s something dirty crawling around.

Wandered-in gay: Farewell, brother.

Forum gays: Respect, until next time.

A second later, a blue pop-up appeared:

OP: ?

OP: …What the hell—f*ck!

***

When Ye Ran received the message from Little Fatty’s phone, he had just stepped out of the shower.

The bathroom was still misty with steam, his hair damp and clinging to his forehead.

Little Fatty and Brother Shu had gone to a class meeting that afternoon—braving the rain to get to the teaching building. The meeting turned out to be painfully boring, so Little Fatty started scrolling the campus forum, stumbled across a certain post, took a screenshot, and sent it to Ye Ran right away.

[Little Fatty]: Can you believe this? Do people really need to debate whether you used to be straight? Those gays are just seeing everything through their “rotten” filter—so mad I almost jumped in to argue for you.

[Little Fatty]: Bro, even if the whole world doesn’t believe you, I believe you.

[Little Fatty]: I’m your last safe harbor, man. You and Shen Shi were innocent as white sheets—Brother Shu and I saw it with our own eyes. Next time someone posts cr*p like this, I’ll clear your name first thing.

[Little Fatty]: ?

[Little Fatty]: You didn’t see my messages yet?

[Little Fatty]: Ye Ran, you there?

Ye Ran: “…”

He stopped midway through drying his hair, looking completely baffled.

Why on earth was a normal campus forum going ten layers deep into whether or not he was straight—and doing it with such detailed reasoning too?

His expression stiffened.

Wait. Could it be… he really hadn’t been gay before?

The public eye is sharp, after all. When he first confirmed he was gay, it was because his childhood friend took him to see a doctor after learning he’d had a dream about a man…

Ye Ran: …

Right. He had seen a doctor.

He rubbed at his hair in exasperation, feeling a little embarrassed.

He almost got led astray by a forum thread.

The door opened.

A gust of cool air drifted in.

Shen Shi came in from outside. The finance department professor had called him to the admin building the moment he learned Shen Shi was back on campus. Now, with the wind and rain outside, his jacket was damp, collar turned up against his jaw, his profile pale and sharp.

“What’s wrong?” he asked when he noticed Ye Ran sitting there, dazed.

Ye Ran shook his head. “Nothing.”

Shen Shi unzipped his jacket, walked over behind him and his eyes immediately caught the screenshot on Ye Ran’s phone.

Right in the middle of the image were the lines from that thread, debating whether Ye Ran was gay or not.

He paused, lifted his gaze to Ye Ran, and asked evenly, “Who sent this?”

“It’s from the forum. Little Fatty saw it and sent it to me,” Ye Ran explained quickly. “It’s nothing—it’s already been deleted.”

Shen Shi: “Then why were you looking at it so long?”

“They sounded so sure,” Ye Ran coughed lightly. “I almost started doubting whether I’m gay myself.”

The dorm room lights were bright.

Outside, the sky was a murky gray. It was around three in the afternoon, and rain pattered softly against the balcony of dorm 211, the sound faint but constant.

The sound of the zipper stopped.

Ye Ran was just about to delete the picture and reply to Little Fatty when, suddenly, a shadow fell over his phone screen.

He looked up blankly.

Shen Shi’s features were close—so close that every detail seemed magnified.

Deep-set eyes, pale skin, dark brows faintly lowered. His shadowy gaze caught Ye Ran’s dazed expression—and then his lips pressed down on Ye Ran’s.

The tip of Shen Shi’s tongue brushed lightly against the roof of his mouth.

Ye Ran’s breath hitched, his waist going weak from the sudden ticklish sensation.

The kiss felt so natural. Before he could even react, Shen Shi had already straightened up, casually removing his jacket while asking, as if nothing had happened, “Did you feel something?”

Ye Ran was silent for a few seconds, thinking how strangely familiar this scene felt.

“…Yeah,” he admitted finally. His freshly showered body was already breaking into another light sweat.

Shen Shi made a quiet sound of acknowledgment and asked calmly, “So, you’re sure now?”

“…Sure,” Ye Ran nodded again.

“Then stop reading the forum,” Shen Shi said as he pulled out a clean set of clothes from the closet, his tone mild but final. “It’ll just mislead you.”

Ye Ran: “Mm.”

Soon after, Shen Shi took his clothes and headed to the bathroom for a shower.

The moment he was gone, Ye Ran quickly dried his hair and climbed into bed.

Only then did the heavy atmosphere in the room finally begin to dissipate.

After a while, he remembered he still hadn’t replied to Little Fatty.

He opened the chat and typed:

– I saw it. It’s fine. Don’t worry about them.

Little Fatty replied almost instantly: [You’re just gonna let them off like that?]

[Yeah.] Ye Ran typed honestly. [Shen Shi told me not to read the forum anymore.]

Little Fatty: […]

Little Fatty: …………

He got it.

He got it.

So Ye Ran really had been bent by Shen Shi.

Good grief, Shen Shi—thick brows, righteous face, and such a schemer underneath.

Status: Ongoing
— Ye Ran feels like his straight roommate might be… flirting with him. * 【Conscientious, gentle, polite art-department little-angel shou × aloof flower, calculating, self-bent, teasing gong His “straight” roommate is a campus celebrity — a god-tier figure in the university town. Handsome, quiet, distant — he’s the well-known aloof flower everyone admires from afar. Love letters pile up until his hands go soft; his admirers are countless, and they come in both genders. Feeling troubled, Ye Ran calls up his childhood friend to complain. After listening, the friend instantly understands: “Got it. You want to chase him.” Ye Ran: “?” Friend: “I support you.” Ye Ran: “……” Friend: “I’m super experienced in this kind of thing. I’ve chased plenty of hotties — you can tell right away if they’re into you once you confess.” Chasing someone, after all, only comes down to a few approaches:
  1. Show concern and care
  2. Be attentive in every detail
  3. Be gentle and thoughtful
…… Ye Ran struggles to explain: “Actually…” The friend, enlightened again: “Ah, I see. You don’t get it yet.” He gives examples: “When he’s sick, you take care of him — buy medicine, bring water — that’s showing concern. When he needs something, you help right away, always keeping an eye on his social media — that’s being attentive. When he’s sad or upset, you comfort him — that’s being gentle.” Ye Ran stays silent for a long while.  Then, gathering his courage: “What if… he’s the one doing all that to me?” Friend: “?” Ye Ran’s ears flush red, his voice soft: “He… he lets me wear his clothes, join the same club as him, takes me traveling with him… and… and…” Friend urges impatiently: “And what else?” Ye Ran: “When he got drunk, he hugged me and slept with me.” Friend: “Tsk.” Friend: “Sneaky straight guy.” Friend: “Pah — devious top.” …… Ten minutes later. Friend: “Plane tickets booked.” Ye Ran: “Huh? You’re coming back to the country?” Friend: “Yep.” “Romance is always most fun when you’re watching someone else’s.” Reading Notes:
  1. Slice-of-life; written in memory of my own college days.
  2. The gong is cunning and teasing, but only teases the shou.
  3. The pre-relationship tension and post-relationship sweetness are about equal — I love that silent, unspoken ambiguity before the window paper is pierced.
After starting university, Ye Ran is assigned to a mixed dorm. His roommate Shen Shi is a campus heartthrob — handsome, quiet, and considerate, which quickly earns Ye Ran’s admiration. Living, eating, and attending classes together, their feelings subtly change with time. The story’s characters are vivid and realistic; the tone is light and humorous. It gently explores family, friendship, and love, resonating easily with readers. Definitely worth a read.
