“Has he left?”
Gu Huai came out from the inner room holding a white bath towel and wiping at his hair. His soft black bangs were wetly sticking to the temples of his forehead, framing that fair face that looked especially handsome.
Yan Chen didn’t reply. He walked over and touched his head, his deep eyes carrying some tenderness, “Blow dry it before you come out, otherwise you will catch a cold.”
Gu Huai inclined his head and raised his eyes to look at him calmly, “Ye Mu has been with you for so long, accompanied you through so many hard times, so towards him, don’t you have any feelings?”
Yan Chen’s facial expression turned cold, “It has always been his wishful thinking. I only agreed to live with him out of sympathy and compassion. You have to know that I’ve been sick and tired of him for the past few years.”
Gu Huai looked at him, his eyebrows slightly raised, “Aren’t there any other feelings, like…”
Yan Chen snorted indifferently, interrupting him, “Like what? Love? This isn’t a very good joke, Gu Huai. You should know, from the beginning to the end, I only like you. Back then, if it wasn’t for your capriciousness in leaving the country, we would still be the same as before, there wouldn’t be Ye Mu this kind of unattractive backward goods appearing.”
Gu Huai lowered his eyes and remained silent.
Yan Chen looked at him steadily for a moment, “Are you fighting for him now?”
Gu Huai shook his head and slowly said, “No, I’m just thinking about what to do to make up for the void we’ve had these past eight years.”
Yan Chen gently rubbed his cheek and walked over to embrace him in his arms, his voice magnetic, “Don’t think too much.”
The unique texture of the black sweater and the warm touch between the male chest gradually soothed one’s uneasiness, and Gu Huai unconsciously nodded his head.
Yan Chen pursed his lips slightly and wrapped his arms around him, dropping a deep kiss on his silky hair.
Gu Huai silently closed his eyes, and at that moment, he felt that time hadn’t washed everything away and that Yan Chen still loved him deeply.
……
Ye Mu went to the company early in the morning of the next day to submit his resignation, and Xu Yang, the director of the HR department, looked a little surprised when he saw his resignation letter.
“Why so sudden? Didn’t you just take over a very important business deal?”
Ye Mu lowered his eyes and did not look at him, his voice did not rise and fall, “Nothing, just tired.”
Xu Yang shrugged. “If that’s the case, I can ask Yan Chen to release you for an annual vacation. Based on the relationship between the two of you, it’s not a problem to release you for ten days or half a month.”
Ye Mu was silent for a while, moving his lips. His tone was calm and subdued as he replied: “No need; he’s the one who let me go.”
Xu Yang paused. In just a few seconds, he had guessed most of what happened and couldn’t help but persuade him bitterly, “That’s how couples are sometimes, prone to bickering and always acting out of spite. Why don’t you take back this resignation application first, and wait for both of you to calm down and then deal with it, what do you think?”
Ye Mu didn’t move a muscle, “We are both calm.”
Xu Yang, the HR director, has always paid close attention to the employees’ working abilities, and he really didn’t want to let go of such an outstanding talent like Ye Mu. “In fact, you should reconsider.”
Ye Mu could see that he wanted to keep him, so he pushed the application form towards him, saying, “I’m busy.” He meant to sign it before it was too late.
Xu Yang no longer forced him. He sighed somewhat helplessly and got up to handle his resignation.
Ye Mu’s popularity in the company is not very high; when he left, no one was there to see him off.
Xu Yang saw that he was lonely and a bit pitiful and walked him all the way to the company’s door.
Ye Mu said thank you and walked into the elevator.
The moment the automatic doors closed, he saw pity in Xu Yang’s eyes.
Yes, the company employees knew about his relationship with Yan Chen, and Xu Yang was so smart that he should have guessed.
He was dumped by Yan Chen.
And dumped in a very ugly way, without leaving a trace of mercy.
“Ding dong.”
The elevator slowly opened on the first floor; Ye Mu raised his eyes and saw Yan Chen.
Yan Chen also saw him. He still had the same masked expression from before, cold and indifferent.
Ye Mu looked at him and didn’t say anything.
Yan Chen did not stop; he directly brushed past him and walked into the elevator, just like a stranger.
Ye Mu smiled bitterly, held his box of things, and walked out.
While waiting at the bus stop, he lit a cigarette.
Since he changed the brand of cigarettes, Ye Mu choked on a few puffs and couldn’t stop coughing.
There was a tearing pain in his throat, but he didn’t acknowledge it and continued to smoke without stopping.
Cigarette butts piled up one after another, piling up into a small mountain.
As the sky darkened, Ye Mu got up and wiped his face, feeling depressed in his heart.
When Yan Chen suffered a double blow of emotional and career trouble at once and suffered from severe depression, it was he who brought him to see a psychiatrist day and night, it was he who secretly arranged for people to invest money in Yan Chen’s company, and it was he who utilized his own contacts year after year to pull in business for Yan Chen’s company.
When people from outside hear the name LOTTO, they only know how outstanding and capable Yan Chen is, but they never know that Ye Mu is the ultimate manipulator behind the scenes.
For so many years, for the sake of Yan Chen, he hid all his sharpness, kept a low profile, and lived as humble as a mole cricket; he never thought he would get anything in return.
He never thought that he would have any reward, but today Yan Chen’s behavior was too scummy, too heinous.
The gray sky suddenly fell with heavy rain. Ye Mu exhaustedly sat down on a chair, feeling that he had really raised a white-eyed wolf in the past few years.
