Don’t Sink Chapter 42

Chapter 42: No More Kiss

<Previous Chapter<Table of Contents>Next Chapter>

Excessive blood loss caused Hu Bin’s vision to darken, and he was on the verge of fainting. The intense pain in his knee, however, stimulated his nerves.

Hu Bin crawled on the ground in a sorry state, with sweat and tears streaming down his face. He knew there was a gun pointed at his head, and his pale lips trembled as he pleaded, “Please… It wasn’t me… I didn’t do it!”

The Alpha in front of him didn’t resemble a police officer. His deep black eyes were like those of a wild wolf, exuding a savagery honed in the depths of the wilderness.

He was dressed in a crisp uniform with military insignia on his shoulders. Under normal circumstances, Hu Bin would have had no resistance left, and this soldier should have taken him to the police station.

However, the gun remained suspended in mid-air. Hu Bin felt a sudden warmth in his crotch, and he was so scared that he couldn’t even shed tears, trembling all over.

The Alpha, looking down on him from above, stared at him with eyes that seemed to pluck out his most sensitive nerve. His gaze revealed undisguised murderous intent.

“Click—”

The crisp sound of a bullet being chambered echoed. Guan Shu’s brows furrowed, his eyes filled with melancholy. He had lost his patience and rationality, and he asked one last time, “Which hand?”

He didn’t consider shooting Hu Bin’s head directly; that would be too merciful. Guan Shu had taken an interrogation class during his time at the military academy, where he learned that making someone wish for death was more agonizing.

This Alpha wanted to kill him! This Alpha genuinely wanted to kill him!

All Hu Bin could hear in his ears was his own panicked heartbeat as he frantically crawled backward.

“You can’t kill me! Do you know who I am?!” Hu Bin began to babble incoherently, biting his tongue. In his moment of despair, he pointed directly at the gangsters who were too terrified to run due to their weak legs. “They made me come… It was them!”

“F*ck you!” The gangster’s voice cracked as he shouted, his face filled with fear as he tried to shift the blame. “You were the one who gave us money! You even said there would be a beautiful omega for us… Ah!”

A gunshot rang out, hitting the gangster’s knee, causing him to collapse to the ground, wailing and rolling in pain.

The other gangsters were too afraid to go and help him. They had never encountered such real and deadly gunfire before. Their fingers trembled, and they didn’t dare to escape.

This wasn’t the first time they had done something like this, thinking it was a stroke of luck. Not only were they getting paid, but they also had the opportunity to be with such a beautiful omega. However, they hadn’t expected to run into a living Grim Reaper.

It was only when the chilling muzzle moved away that the gangsters came back to their senses, feeling like they had narrowly escaped death. They struggled to swallow their saliva.

This Alpha had lost all rationality, leaving only his primal instinct to protect the omega. No matter who it was, if anyone said something offensive to the omega in his arms, he would bite off their throat.

The sounds of screams mixed with the thick smell of blood, but Shen Yao didn’t even furrow his brow. Leaning his face against Guan Shu’s shoulder, he raised his head slightly, his gaze shifting and landing on the pale-faced Hu Bin.

Shen Yao knew that if he were to cry out in pain to Guan Shu right now, telling him that he wanted Hu Bin dead, Guan Shu would not hesitate to pull the trigger and kill for him.

He turned his head, this time looking up at Guan Shu, who held him tightly.

To burden Guan Shu with a life, or even more than one life, in his name. If that were to happen, it would be deeply engraved in Guan Shu’s heart.

After he left, Guan Shu would never remember him, nor would he ever forget him.

“Ah!”

Another piercing scream pierced Shen Yao’s ears. His eyes were beautifully cold, like the most precious gemstones.

In the end, he raised his hand. The omega’s fingers were slender and pale, noticeably smaller than Guan Shu’s hand.

The gun held by Guan Shu instilled fear in everyone, but Shen Yao felt no fear. His hand gently covered Guan Shu’s hand, his fingertips resting on the black gun barrel.

“Guan Shu, don’t kill him,” he said softly. “Just call the police.”

This time, Hu Bin was a true rapist, and all the evidence was there. He would spend the rest of his life in prison.

He would come out of the impregnable walls when he was already sixty years old, thinking he could finally breathe the air of freedom but on the eve of his eagerly anticipated release, he would meet an unexpected death.

Compared to dying after a brief moment of suffering in the present, Shen Yao was more satisfied with this arrangement.

Subconsciously, Guan Shu covered Shen Yao’s eyes. He had let Shen Yao witness such a bloody scene.

The screams continued in his ears as Guan Shu pressed Shen Yao’s head into his chest, hastily retracting the gun so that he could use both hands to cover Shen Yao’s ears.

“Yao Yao…”

In his uncontrollable rage, Guan Shu’s memories briefly became muddled, causing him to completely forget what had happened before. He believed that he and Shen Yao were still together, and he even blamed himself, thinking that he hadn’t protected Shen Yao well enough.

Guan Shu bent down, carefully lifting Shen Yao into his arms. He walked towards the SUV parked by the roadside, gently placing him in the passenger seat.

As he wiped away the dust from Shen Yao’s cheek with one hand, he took out his phone and dialed an internal number to contact the police.

The nearest police station was not far away, and they should arrive in about ten minutes. Guan Shu caressed Shen Yao’s face and whispered softly, “Yao Yao, which hand did he use to grab your hair?”

Shen Yao glanced out the window, where the thugs had taken the opportunity to flee, leaving behind Hu Bin, who lay on the ground unable to move. But he wasn’t worried because he knew Guan Shu would track down every last one of them.

He was as delicate and precious as a carefully protected artwork. Shen Yao calmly replied in a soft voice, “His right hand.”

Just as Hu Bin was about to lose consciousness, a military boot stomped on his right hand, the excruciating pain of crushed bones instantly jolting him awake.

Instinctively, he tried to let out a scream, but a gloved hand covered his mouth, muffling all sound.

Guan Shu slowly crouched down, pulling a combat knife from his waist belt. Expressionless, he raised his hand and slashed directly at the alpha’s gland.

Hu Bin was engulfed in darkness, unable to even let out a scream. This pain was more intense than all the injuries he had endured before.

According to criminal law, Hu Bin’s gland would have been destroyed. However, the methods used in prisons were too mild, and they administered anesthesia out of humanitarian concerns.

Guan Shu cut off his gland using the most agonizing means.

By the time it was over, Hu Bin had completely lost consciousness. Guan Shu removed his gloves and used them to wipe the bloodstains off the blade before tossing them on the ground.

After confirming that there was no trace of blood on himself, Guan Shu got back in the car.

Throughout the journey, his phone kept ringing non-stop. The police had already arrived, and Guan Shu’s actions had even exceeded the boundaries of excessive force. He knew he had to go there in person.

But Guan Shu didn’t answer a single call. Right now, all he wanted was to get home as quickly as possible and administer medication to Shen Yao.

He parked the car and gently carried Shen Yao up the stairs.

Guan Shu placed Shen Yao on the sofa and ran his fingers through his hair. The remaining traces of anger started to well up within him.

He had noticed that Shen Yao had been clutching his stomach the whole time. Guan Shu fetched the medical kit and half-knelt in front of Shen Yao, his voice gentle as if coaxing a child, “Where does it hurt? Did he hit your stomach? Let me see.”

Without waiting for Shen Yao to answer, Guan Shu couldn’t help but reach out and lift Shen Yao’s clothes. Shen Yao didn’t resist, and as soon as Guan Shu saw the wound, his fingers clenched into a tight fist, the veins bulging.

Shen Yao’s skin was too pale, and a large patch of red spread across his flat abdomen. Based on Guan Shu’s experience, it would soon spread and become a bruise that would take a long time to fade.

This wound pierced Guan Shu’s eyes. He had suffered many injuries himself, with many old scars on his body, each one more severe and painful than the ones on Shen Yao’s body.

When he had to endure bullets dug out from his flesh without anesthesia, Guan Shu bit down on cloth, never uttering a word of pain or shedding a tear.

Guan Shu took out the ointment for promoting blood circulation and reducing bruises. He applied it to Shen Yao with the lightest touch. As he looked at Shen Yao’s wound, his eye sockets uncontrollably warmed up and even became slightly moist.

Shen Yao was so delicate. When had he ever been beaten like this? When had he ever suffered such a severe injury?

Guan Shu, who had just raised his gun with a stern and murderous expression towards those who had harmed Shen Yao, didn’t hesitate to pull the trigger and was relentless in his actions.

Now, his cold and stern features couldn’t find a trace of fierceness, only revealing heartache and self-blame.

“Guan Shu.”

Shen Yao had expected that Guan Shu would feel sorry for him, but he hadn’t expected Guan Shu to show this side of himself. He almost thought he had misjudged him.

In reality, the pain had subsided as long as he didn’t move. Shen Yao raised his hand and lightly touched the corner of Guan Shu’s eye, saying straightforwardly, “It seems like you’re about to cry.”

Shen Yao’s fingers were cold, and when they touched the corner of Guan Shu’s eye, it instantly snapped him back to reality. His hand subconsciously held onto Shen Yao’s fingers, wanting to warm them up, but his chaotic brain, after a brief moment of shutdown, suddenly rebooted.

The jumbled memories fell back into place, and Guan Shu’s expression turned extremely unpleasant, with no trace of moisture in the corners of his eyes.

He vividly remembered his loss of control when Shen Yao was injured, how he protected Shen Yao and ruthlessly avenged him.

Those alphas deserved it. Their actions and intentions were disgusting to the extreme, and regardless of anything, he would have taken action against them. But their relationship was purely physical, yet he went to such lengths for Shen Yao? How could he let Shen Yao see this?!

Shen Yao might misunderstand that Guan Shu still had feelings for him, that he still had lingering affections, and then treat him as he had before, like a dog summoned with a beckoning finger, cast aside when not needed.

“Why didn’t you call the police when you were in danger? I came to save you because I’m a soldier, it’s my duty. And I taught those alphas a lesson just because they disgusted me. Don’t you dare misinterpret it.” Guan Shu’s finger, applying the ointment, exerted too much force all of a sudden. He heard Shen Yao let out a soft gasp, paused, and then eased his touch. With a stern face, he continued, “Where’s Xu Yibai? And Yan Zhixing? I’m just an ex-boyfriend. Shouldn’t you be closer to them? Why message me instead of them?”

Shen Yao lifted his foot and stepped directly on Guan Shu’s knee. He bent down, one hand holding Guan Shu’s hand, the other resting on his shoulder, and then he lowered his head and lightly kissed his lips:

“Because you would definitely come to save me.”

“Right, big brother?”

He had already broken up with Xu Yibai, so it was impossible to go to him. As for Yan Zhixing, he was too suspicious, and Shen Yao felt that he would dig into his past with Xu Yibai.

Guan Shu was the most reliable and convenient choice.

The cap of the ointment that Guan Shu was holding fell to the ground, making a crisp sound. When he realized it, he furrowed his brow and said, “So, you think it’s okay to kiss me?”

“Oh.” Shen Yao leaned back on the sofa, smiled apologetically, and said without any objections, “Then I won’t kiss you.”

The ointment for promoting blood circulation and reducing bruising required a certain technique. Guan Shu continued to massage Shen Yao in silence. After finishing, he stood up, still wearing a serious expression, as if someone owed him millions.

He didn’t speak to Shen Yao and walked straight to the bedroom. When he reached the doorway, he paused and turned his head unreasonably, saying, “So, I can only be kissed when I agree?”

“It’s fine.” Shen Yao acted considerate and gentle, smiling as he said, “If you dislike it, I won’t kiss you anymore.”

Guan Shu stood silently for a while, waiting for Shen Yao to change his mind. But since that didn’t happen, he turned his face and walked into the room, his expression even more displeased than before.

After a while, Guan Shu came out with a shirt, the one Shen Yao had worn before and had been hanging in the closet ever since.

Shen Yao noticed it and raised his lips, smiling as he said, “Didn’t you forbid me from wearing it last time?”

“Of course, it’s because you’ve worn it before. That’s why I don’t want this shirt anymore.” Guan Shu expressionlessly threw the shirt beside him, his tone extremely cold and sounding like he was speaking to a subordinate. “I don’t have time to take you back now. You’ll sleep here.”

If he didn’t return to the military district soon, someone would come looking for him. Guan Shu lowered his head and glanced at his watch, finally noticing the warning symbol on it.

Due to the special nature of his identity, the watch had some special features. He looked down and his eyebrows furrowed deeply.

“Shen Yao, do you know your phone has a locator?” Guan Shu lowered his eyelids and tugged at the corner of his mouth. “Let me tell you another piece of information. A few days ago, Xu Yibai had your phone.”
