General’s Gown Chapter 39

Chapter 39 The Desert Kiss Part 4

<Previous Chapter<Table of Contents>Next Chapter>

Soft, warm lips pressed against each other and a few beats later a slippery thing took the opportunity to pry open the innocent, unsuspecting lips and teeth. Yan Changqing’s eyes widened. Looking at Helian Rongchuan’s unwavering expression, he felt an aura of pure masculine aggression. His heart was beating all too violently.

Yan Changqing feeling completely stunned at this moment hesitated.

Helian Rongchuan sighed utterly infatuated with the man in his arms. He gently pushed a few strands of damp black hair off Yan Changqing’s face. After a long time apart, his Changqing had gotten thinner. Is the dog emperor making life difficult for him? Or was he working hard to fight against the Beirong barbarians? Was he injured in the battle?

He must have suffered a lot.

It’s just that no matter what blows and hardships he suffered, his precious Changqing still held his head up stubbornly. The black eyes – still so sharp and pure. His whole being – still so cold and fierce.

In their long-awaited reunion, Helian Rongchuan felt that Yan Changqing seemed to move his heart even more than when he saw him for the first time. Especially at this moment because Yan Changqing didn’t have time to put on clothes after swimming.

So naughty thoughts couldn’t help but arise.

An unfamiliar, crisp and itchy sensation was winding up his spine. Yan Changqing lowered his head in surprise, and found Helian Rongchuan’s hand along the skirt of his clothes, rubbing at the bare skin.

Where did Yan Changqing experience this before? Shame and anger rose in him. Furious, he lifted his leg and kicked out. Helian Rongchuan was caught off guard, and Yan Changqing didn’t know where he was kicking.

With an oof, Helian Rongchuan plunged back into the river, sending splashes in all directions. Yan Changqing stepped onto the river bank putting some distance between them and turned around. He draped himself in a snow-white coat and a long gown.

Helian Rongchuan, still oof-ing, was struggling in the river. It seemed that he could not get up because of Yan Changqing’s kick.

Yan Changqing stood on the shore, watching him coldly.

Did he not just prove himself to be very capable? He was able to swim all the way in from outside of the city against the river’s current. Now he can’t climb back up after a mere kick?

Yan Changqing couldn’t help but think of the time Helian Rongchuan pretended to be drowning in the Jiaolu River and tricked him into the river.

Hmph. Same old routine. If Yan Changqing was tricked again, he would be the number one fool in the world!

Helian Rongchuan fluttered in the river for a while, choking on a lot of water and coughing violently. His body sank into the water and then was swept towards the center of the river by the current.

Yan Changqing continued to watch coldly.

Keep pretending.

Let’s see how long you can keep this up.

It’s best that he gets washed out directly by the river, so Yan Changqing wouldn’t have to drive him out himself.

Although that’s what he was thinking, Yan Changqing’s fingers gradually curled up from worry.

In the White Wolf river, Helian Rongchuan seemed to get weaker and weaker. After a few more moments, the river went over his head and he even stopped flopping around. Helian Rongchuan was undeniably sinking.

Yan Changqing’s heartbeat picked up, and finally, he couldn’t hold back. He shouted at Helian Rongchuan: “Not coming up yet?!”

However, Helian Rongchuan’s call for help answered him.

“Help!!”

Yan Changqing’s heart sank, and he plunged into the water without hesitation.

Fortunately, Helian Rongchuan didn’t drift away too far. Yan Changqing was anxious and swam over speedily. After just a few strokes and he scooped up Helian Rongchuan by the waist and swam back to the shore again.

—Cough cough cough! Cough cough cough!

Helian Rongchuan’s continued to cough violently, his face pale as if he indeed choked on a lot of water.

Yan Changqing stood aside, a little annoyed at Helian Rongchuan, but mostly annoyed with himself.

Helian Rongchuan came all the way with relief supplies and tends to show his kindness no matter what, even if in a freezing river… But to him… why was he so cruel? Although Yan Changqing wanted to drive him away, he shouldn’t…

—Cough cough cough!

Helian Rongchuan lay on the ground, curled up in a ball, looking very fragile and pitiful. He sounded as if he was about to cough up his heart, liver, spleen, lungs and kidneys.

Yan Changqing lowered his eyes guiltily. He hesitated, then finally moved closer to Helian Rongchuan, wanting to help him up and rid of the water in his lungs.

However, Helian Rongchuan remained curled up on the ground and kept on tossing around. His eyebrows were furrowed and he was clutching his lower abdomen. He kept yelling out, complaining: “Oh, oh, oh, the kick! It hurts, it hurts!”

Yan Changqing was shocked. Did the kick really hurt Helian Rongchuan that badly? At the time he was so angry that he forgot to control his strength. What if that kick landed on a wound? If it opened his wound, it really wouldn’t be a joke.

“…Where did the kick land?” Yan Changqing looked at the sprawled out on the ground Helian Rongchuan and couldn’t help feeling a little guilty and worried.

Helian Rongchuan gritted his teeth, blue veins on his forehead throbbing violently. He seemed to be suffering through a lot of pain. He clutched his lower abdomen: “…it hurts …here” He waved at Yan Changqing beckoning him over to take a look.

Huh? Could it be that his kick landed on Helian Rongchuan’s belly?

But replaying the kick in his mind only made that seem impossible.

Yan Changqing frowned, a little suspicious, but still worried. He hesitated for a moment, then moved closer, carefully lifting the clothes on Helian Rongchuan’s upper body, reaching out to his abdomen to see how badly he was injured.

But when he made contact…

It was a body part that jjwxc would not let me describe, or else they would need to lock my chapter. So in fact, it was honestly just the abdomen of the Gong covered up with clothes, but I deleted that part and couldn’t rewrite the part with the original number of words. I’m so angry, I’m even angrier than Yan Changqing. There were no wounds, not even bruises. (this is actually written in the novel by the author)

Yan Changqing: ? ? ?

Then he watched as a satisfied smirk slowly appeared on Helian Rongchuan’s face. He quickly grabbed Yan Changqing’s hand and guided it——

Yan Changqing went still as if bitten by a poisonous snake. He yanked his hand back fast as lightning taking a step back. The base of his neck and his face lit up crimson and he was starting to feel hot.

Yan Changqing was engaged with Helian Rongchuan’s never-ending antics. He was actually fooled by this man again!

He was simply… simply…

“SHAMELESS!!”

Yan Changqing was furious and finally couldn’t hold back.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!

Helian Rongchuan clutched his stomach and laughed hard, gasping for air. Once again he succeeded in his mischief. The happiness he felt at that moment wiped out all the depressing thoughts and feelings he lived with for the past several days. While smiling, he looked at Yan Changqing, who wore an expression of shame and anger. He promised to commit to his memory his person’s every subtle (and every not-so-subtle) expression.

This man was too cute. He usually acted like an arrogant and stubborn iceberg and his attitude towards him was either hot or cold. Helian Rongchuan knew that in reality Yan Changqing’s mind was very simple, and his heart was kind and pure.

This made Helian Rongchuan want to bully him even more. He wanted to watch Yan Changqing’s ice-carved jade armour crack little by little under his offence, revealing the warm and soft heart that only he could see and touch.

Helian Rongchuan was lying on the ground, with his arms behind his head and long legs extended. He finally quit rolling around pretending to be in pain: “Obviously you undressed me yourself. And obviously, you touched *it* yourself, yet you blame me?”

As he spoke, he deliberately lifted his clothes revealing most of his upper body. Wheat-coloured skin, defined pectorals, smooth abdominal muscles still wet from their swim.  Helian Rongchuan simply glowed under the bright stars, like he was one of them.

Yan Changqing suddenly felt his face heat up even more. Suddenly he couldn’t wait to beat Helian Rongchuan half to death.

Obviously, they were both men, what kind of evil curse did he get hit with?! (T/L: The BL curse haha)

“——You are twisting words and forcing logic!” Yan Changqing said through gritted teeth while clenching his fists.

“What twisting of words and forcing of logic are you talking about?” Realizing that he couldn’t see Yan Changqing from his current position on the ground, Helian Rongchuan turned over. “I didn’t lie to you. I do feel pain here.”

As he spoke, he pointed to the spot: “I spent every day missing you so much! I would turn hard just thinking about you… so hard that it hurt!”

The expression on his face was of pure innocence which was far from matching what his eyes were trying to convey.

Yan Changqing still processing the other man’s words, glanced down to where Helian Rongchuanh was pointing, and finally understood what he meant.

“You——!!!” Yan Changqing felt his temples throb. He was so angry that smoke could’ve come out of his ears were this not real life. He was left speechless once again.

Helian Rongchuan smiled and looked at Yan Changqing’s shameful and angry expression:

You, you…what you? My Lord Yan, you aren’t going to say that I am ‘shameless’ and ‘disgusting’ again, right? Just those two curses repeated over and over again. You truly are as pure as a babe.” Helian Rongchuan continued to tease Yan Changqing.

Yan Changqing’s eyebrows twitched, his anger almost unbearable, but he couldn’t bring himself to hit the other. He pursed his lips tightly, put on his clothes and without saying a word left with his sword in hand.

Helian Rongchuan knew when to stop his teasing, and quickly got up to follow Yan Changqing.

Yan Changqing abruptly turned around which prompted Helian Rongchuan to take a big step back.

Even a rabbit can bite when he is anxious. Helian Rongchuan was suddenly a little afraid that Yan Changqing couldn’t help but smack him with his sword.

Yan Changqing’s expression was as cold as ever: “Don’t follow me!” He pointed his sword in the direction of the city wall: “Leave right now!”

Helian Rongchuan smiled and looked at him: “Go where? We’ve already kissed and hugged. More so, someone in the city had already touched me too. If there really is a plague, I definitely won’t be able to avoid it.”

Yan Changqing’s face paled when he heard this. He even forgot to refute Helian Rongchuan’s deliberately inverted logic.

Yes, if there was a real plague and if he had already come into contact with someone sick, he must have already been infected.

Yan Changqing’s lips were pursed tight disturbing his usually handsome face. His heart was a mess, a feeling previously unknown to him, so all he could do was continue moving forward. But after walking a few steps, he stopped again.

Cr*p, he was so muddleheaded just now that he forgot the brocade that Helian Rongchuan gave him by the White Wolf River!

He glared at Helian Rongchuan, then turned his head to look for it. But the strange rocks by the White Wolf River were rugged and this night wasn’t a bright one. Where did it go?

A little anxious, he raised his head but saw Helian Rongchuan playing with something. Deliberately showing off the small object in his hands.

It was the same small silk pouch.

Yan Changqing immediately exhaled a sigh of relief: “Give it to me.”

Helian Rongchuan knew that if he went to tease Yan Changqing at this time, the man would blow up. He chose to restrain himself a little and said: “I can give it to you, but first you have to follow me to see something.”

Yan Changqing frowned: “What?”

Helian Rongchuan beckoned him over mysteriously: “You’ll know when you see it.”

Together they walked toward the outskirts of the city. The White Wolf River flowing in the same direction kept them company. Soon, they came to the edge of the city wall on the west side of Qinchuan.

The river glowed, reflecting starlight, lowing out of Qinchuan City through a small gate under the city wall. It seems that Helian Rongchuan used this narrow opening, capable of accommodating just one person to get into the city.

He was not afraid of being stuck in the gate and drowning.

Yan Changqing glanced at Helian Rongchuan reproachfully. Thinking to himself he decided that he had been negligent when he first arrived and he must assign patrol guards to this area tomorrow.

Both of them were very strong swimmers and passed through the gate with little effort. Outside the city wall, thousands of tents belonging to the Black Armoured Troops were neatly arranged in the vast desert. Soon after nightfall, each camp was lit with bright orange lights. Under the indigo blue starry sky, it looked like countless stars falling from the Milky Way to earth. The view was simply magnificent.

Helian Rongchuan took Yan Changqing’s hand and led him into the nearest camp.

Strangely, there were no guards posted here. And when did Helian Rongchuan contact his Black Armoured Troops?

Yan Changqing was puzzled and was about to ask but was shocked by what he saw next.

In the middle of the tent, there was a large coffin made of cypress painted in gold and red lacquer.

So Helian Rongchuan wanted to show him this coffin? What does this mean?

Helian Rongchuan stepped forward, with a smile playing on the corner of his mouth. His fingers now dancing and stroking the cover. Pushing it aside he leaped over the side and climbed into the coffin. Laying down he asked, “Master Yan, dare to come in?”

Yan Changqing: “”

Receiving no response, Helian Rongchuan started again singsongy: “Oh——General Yan is such a chicken! So scared~”

He was deliberately trying to provoke him.

Scared?!

Ridiculous!

Yan Changqing fell into Helian Rongchuan’s little traps every time without a fail. He didn’t know what Helian Rongchuan was trying to accomplish with his teasing this time. He was vigilant, but when Helian Rongchuan was this aggressive he managed to get on each one of his nerves and irritate his pride and self-esteem.

So he laid down in the coffin without any longer hesitation.

But Yan Changqing regretted it as soon as he got side. He found that the coffin was unreasonably designed. It was a little roomy when lying down alone but when lying down beside someone it was quite stuffy.

Unless of course if they were in a half-hugging position: two of them lying face to face.

Yan Changqing: “…”

Helian Rongchuan was afraid that Yan Changqing’s head would feel uncomfortable against the wood, so he put one of his arms under it. With a gentle smile in his eyes, he whispered: “What, are you angry about now?”

Yan Changqing: “…”

“Master Yan has quite a big temper.” He continued to tease him with fondness.

Two of them were laying very close to each other, their noses almost touching. Yan Changqing shot an icy glare at Helian Rongchuan but the tips of his ears were turning crimson.

Hands.” He said.

Helian Rongchuan raised his eyebrows, feigning stupidity: “Hands?”

Your—hands!!!” Yan Changqing spat out each word through gritted teeth.
