General’s Gown Chapter 53

Chapter 53 Tan Hua Dream Part 2

<Previous Chapter<Table of Contents>Next Chapter>

Welcoming the wind, the horse ran wildly, and the wolf chased.

Closer and closer and in the chaotic sound of horse hooves, two more vigorous, strong white wolves caught up. Their two strong front paws leaped forward towards the horse belly of Shuang Zhui.

Yan Changqing tensed the reins, and Shuang Zhui immediately knew. With a neigh, he raised his iron hoof and kicked it hard at the white wolf. This kick was very powerful. It landed in the middle of the white wolf’s chest, and the white wolf fell to the ground and was immediately stepped on by countless horses’ hooves behind him. One could only see a splash of blood in the grassland, blowing in the wind, a piece of scarlet.

The crazy wolves immediately launched a more ferocious retaliation. Learning from the lesson of the tragic death of their companions, instead of chasing horseshoes, they chose to attack from the side. Their powerful hind legs allowed them to jump up like lightning, open their mouths, bite the thick but extremely fragile throats of the horses, and then use gravity to yank them down!

The painful shrill cry of horses resounded across the vast grassland. Yan Changqing turned his head and saw that several horses behind him had their throats bitten off by the white wolf. The soldiers on the horses couldn’t react quick enough, and they fell to the ground with their horses. Before they could get up, they were overwhelmed by the wolves that rushed up!

“Changqing!” Helian Rongchuan halted.

Yan Changqing glanced at him in the galloping wind. He understood what Helian Rongchuan meant.

At this time, he can not return to help!

Although these white wolves were fierce and sturdy, because of their size, their running speed was not as fast as these tall, broad-chested, four-legged steeds. Head-to-head, they have no chance of winning. At this moment, they can only run wildly and throw off the wolves far away!

Yan Changqing suddenly thought of the water of the White Wolf River they had waded on along the way. The clear, shiny lake water flashed in Yan Changqing’s heart. He immediately shouted to the team behind him: “Retreat to the other side of the river, hurry!”

The wolf’s legs were short and the horse’s were long. In the half-a-person deep water, these tall horses could easily wade across with their long legs. But for those white wolves, it was much more difficult. Coupled with their thick fur, it would increase their burden when swimming.

The long, white wolf river that would like a silver-white ribbon on the grassland was the most advantageous barrier for them to avoid the wolves.

Crash! Crash! Crash!

The chaotic horse hooves stepped into the river water, and the water splashed all over. The wolves plopped and jumped into the river water. As expected, their speed was greatly slowed down.

Yan Changqing did not dare to relax his vigilance and held the horse’s rein tightly. He knew that the faster he waded across the river, the better his chances of surviving. However, at the moment when the horseshoe was about to set foot on the river bank, Yan Changqing suddenly heard a “click” under him, and Shuang Zhui shook his body and knelt down!

Yan Changqing was shocked and almost plunged into the river water because of this huge force, but he reacted extremely quickly, grabbed the horse’s mane with one hand, turned forward and jumped into the river water.

“What’s the matter!”

Helian Rongchuan had just gone ashore and found that Yan Changqing was not there. He immediately turned his horse’s head without hesitation and rushed towards Yan Changqing against the fleeing team.

It turned out that the hoof of the Shuang Zhui got stuck in the cracks of the boulders at the bottom of the river!

“Go!” Helian Rongchuan leaned down from his horse and stretched out his arm to Yan Changqing. Yan Changqing was about to take his hand, but suddenly a sharp light flashed in his eyes.

With no time to prepare, Yan Changqing drew the scimitar with his backhand and threw it at Helian Rongchuan with all his strength!

“Aw——!” Helian Rongchuan felt warm blood sprayed on the side of his ears and his neck in the sorrowful cry. A white wolf was struggling painfully in the river, a large pool of bright red blood welling out of its eyes.

Helian Rongchuan raised his head to look at Yan Changqing, his complexion instantly changed. Yan Changqing also immediately realized the danger behind him and leaped forward. Helian Rongchuan hugged his waist and rolled on the river bank, nose to nose. They could feel a white gust of wind brushing against their ears, and could even feel the wet and hairy touch of the silvery-white wolf fur.

The white wolf jumped into the air, immediately turned around and charged at them again. Its speed was extremely fast. Before the two of them could get up, in the blink of an eye, the gleaming white wolf teeth were already in front of Yan Changqing’s eyes. Helian Rongchuan’s heart trembled, for fear of any mishaps with Yan Changqing, he could not care about anything else in his desperation. He suddenly turned over to protect Yan Changqing behind him. He stretched out his hand to hold onto the wolf’s mouth and jaws regardless, arched left and right, and pulled hard to both sides.

“Ka!”

With a crisp sound of torn bones and flesh and blood, this white wolf’s mouth was broken by Helian Rongchuan!

“Aoowuu!” In the painful long howl of the white wolf, more and more white wolves were swimming in the splashing river water. Yan Changqing and Helian Rongchuan swam over.

Yan Changqing repelled the close attacks of the white wolves next to him. Looking forward, the panicked team had already run off. The few white wolves who had just come ashore realized that it might be difficult to catch up with the main force, and turned their heads. The bright green eyes looked at Yan Changqing and Helian Rongchuan.

Helian Rongchuan took a deep breath, calmed down, then firmly held Yan Changqing’s hand beside him. Yan Changqing looked at him sideways.

“I’m here.”

“I’m here.”

The two of them were taken aback, unexpectedly blurting out two identical sentences at the same time. Helian Rongchuan bloomed with a brilliant smile, and his light brown eyes shone as bright as the sun’s amber.

“Great!”

At the same time, Shuang Zhui finally pulled out his hind legs from the crevice of the stone. While both of them were happy, at the same time, they flipped onto the horse neatly and rushed straight to the shore!

Yan Changqing held the sword on the left, Helian Rongchuan drew the sword to protect the right, and the two pulled their bows from left to right.

The wolves turned red with hatred, and finally, some of them caught up with the horse, but in a flash, a silver light would cut their throats or blind them.

The bloody wolf blood wafted in the wind, and the entire wolf pack went crazy. They tried their best to show their sharp fangs. They were determined to make a desperate move, even if they risked being crushed by horseshoes to bring down those two people and tear them apart.

But at this moment, the head wolf rushing at the front suddenly stopped.

The wolf glanced at the figure who was fleeing, and the green and secluded wolf eyes narrowed.

“Woo-”

It raised its wolf’s head and let out a long, sharp howl.

All the white wolves raised their pointed wolf ears and stopped when they heard the wolf’s command.

They gathered around the wolf, and then, with a low roar of the wolf, all the white wolves turned and ran away in the opposite direction like a whirlwind of white.

When Yan Changqing and Helian Rongchuan saw this scene before them, they couldn’t believe their eyes. This pack of wolves was almost caught up with them, they were even ready to fight to the death. Why did these white wolves give up?

However, before they had time to think about it, they just felt a sudden sinking under their bodies.

Shuang Zhui hissed in horror. The grass under its hooves suddenly collapsed. Helian Rongchuan was shocked and immediately tightened the horse’s rein, trying his best to turn the horse’s head. However, it was too late, and Shuang Zhui stomped forward with its hooves. In a panic, Shuang Zhui couldn’t think of anything else. It suddenly lifted its hooves and touched the edge of the collapsed pit. After a few movements, it finally jumped up.

However, the owner of Shuang Zhui was not so lucky.

Yan Changqing was caught off guard, was thrown off by the struggling horse, and fell straight into the collapsed pit. The pit was very deep, but fortunately, the new soil in the pit was soft. He rolled to the side and immediately got up.

“Helian Rongchuan!” Yan Changqing’s voice was a little anxious, but he could not see Helian Rongchuan’s figure for a while. Strangely, at the moment of falling from the horse, he clearly saw Helian Rongchuan also fall!

Yan Changqing hurriedly dug into the mud that just collapsed under him. After digging a few times, he suddenly saw a familiar corner of his clothes and hurriedly pulled it out.

Helian Rongchuan showed his face from the sand. Yan Changqing hurried to pat him: “Hey! Hey!”

Helian Rongchuan laid motionless on the ground.

Yan Changqing could almost hear his heart beating violently. He subconsciously probed Helian Rongchuan’s breathing, his fingers trembling slightly.

It was very quiet around, there was no movement at all.

Yan Changqing withdrew his hand abruptly, his pupils shrinking sharply.

Impossible!

How could he not be breathing? How is this possible!!

Yan Changqing felt a huge shock in his heart, and shook Helian Rongchuan’s shoulder again, only to see Helian Rongchuan’s head drooping softly, showing no vitality.

Yan Changqing felt his entire mind blank, with only one thought.

Impossible!

Obviously, this person was still smiling at himself just now, so brilliant and confident, how could it be…

Yan Changqing firmly supported Helian Rongchuan’s head with both hands, and his voice trembled uncontrollably:

“Helian Rongchuan, look, look at me, open your eyes…look at me?”

“You can’t die…can’t.”

This soft call was mixed with great fear and despair that Yan Changqing had never experienced, and even a trembling cry.

This sound also pierced Helian Rongchuan who was pretending to be dead at this moment.

Helian Rongchuan closed his eyes tightly, groaning in his heart.

In fact, Helian Rongchuan did not deliberately pretend to be dead from the beginning. From the moment he fell off the horse, the frightened horse had kicked his chest. Although this kick was kicked unconsciously by Shuang Zhui and was not very powerful, it still made Helian Rongchuan unable to come out immediately. He fell into the pit and was buried in the sand, covering his chest.

Helian Rongchuan did lose his breath for a moment. After he recovered in a daze, he heard Yan Changqing patting him in a panic.

Helian Rongchuan had planned to open his eyes, but when he saw Yan Changqing, he couldn’t stop his evil tricks from coming out.

Hearing that Yan Changqing was so anxious, he suddenly became a little curious about how Yan Changqing would really react if he was dead?

Will he cry with red eyes? How cute would that be?

So for a while, he didn’t think about anything else and closed his eyes and stifled his breathing to pretend to die.

However, after a little while, Helian Rongchuan regretted it. Even if he didn’t open his eyes, he could feel Yan Changqing’s anxiety and fear at this time. Especially his trembling call made Helian Rongchuan’s heart tremble.

This was a distressing feeling.

How desperate and painful must Yan Changqing be at this time?

Helian Rongchuan suddenly wanted to slap himself and scold himself for being a jerk!

But the more Yan Changqing was like this, the less Helian Rongchuan dared to open his eyes. He was really afraid that once Yan Changqing found out that he had been cheated, he would fly into a rage out of humiliation.

Maybe his fake death would turn into a self-created real “death”!

How can this be good?

[Small Theater]

Helian Rongchuan: Who dares to bully my big baby, I will tear his mouth! (One foot on the shivering white wolf, acting triumphantly)

Yan Changqing looked at him blankly: Are you serious about this?

Helian Rongchuan continued and placed his hand on his hips: Seriously! Speak, who is bullying you, see if I don’t beat him to death!

Yan Changqing silently took out a bronze mirror and placed it in front of Helian Rongchuan and pointed with one finger:

“It’s this person. Do it.”
