Seeing Lu Haoxiu like this, Lou Yan felt a piercing pain in his heart.
He took a deep breath and quickly walked up to Lu Haoxiu, crouching down beside him, ignoring Lu Haoxiu’s struggles, and forcibly hugged him. With one hand patting Lu Haoxiu’s back, even though Lou Yan knew Lu Haoxiu couldn’t hear him now, he kept comforting him, “It’s me, don’t be afraid, Little Lu, it’s me who’s back!”
Lu Haoxiu couldn’t hear Lou Yan’s voice, but he could feel that the person hugging him didn’t have any malicious intent, and there was a familiar and reassuring feeling. After a moment of hesitation, Lu Haoxiu suddenly hugged Lou Yan tightly, his hands groping around Lou Yan’s body, and suddenly burst into tears with a sobbing voice, “Brother Lou, is it you? Have you come back?”
Lou Yan’s hand touched his face, awkwardly wiping away his tears. Lu Haoxiu immediately confirmed that it was Lou Yan. He hugged Lou Yan tightly, burying his head in Lou Yan’s shoulder, his tears soaking Lou Yan’s clothes. Like a little dog being bullied, he whimpered and cried, vaguely expressing his fear and sadness, “Bro, I can’t see anymore, and I’m deaf now… I can’t taste anything either, I can’t do anything… I’m so scared, wuwu…”
Upon hearing the commotion, Li Sanxin hurried down the stairs from upstairs and saw the scene of Lu Haoxiu holding onto Lou Yan and crying on the ground. His tense nerves relaxed slightly.
Li Sanxin’s complexion wasn’t very good, with dark circles under his eyes, a tired and anxious expression, looking like he hadn’t slept well. He nodded gently towards Lou Yan, who had just arrived, without disturbing the two of them, but instead looked around. Finally, his gaze settled, and with a serious expression, he walked to the sofa and was surprised to see Duan Zege sleeping soundly with his head covered.
That guy had his face covered with a hat, sleeping soundly, not even awakened by the movements of Lou Yan and Lu Haoxiu.
Li Sanxin clenched his fists, veins bulging on his forehead. He forcefully threw off Duan Zege’s hat, grabbed him by the collar, and rudely pulled him up. Duan Zege woke up in a daze, lazily saying, “Morning, Sanxin.”
Li Sanxin restrained his anger and said, “Morning my foot! I told you to watch over Lu Haoxiu properly, but you slept like a baby, not knowing anything happened!”
Their bedrooms were on the second floor, but because Lu Haoxiu’s current condition made it inconvenient for him to go up and down the stairs, Li Sanxin had cleaned up a room on the first floor originally meant for the servants for Lu Haoxiu to stay in. He and Duan Zege took turns sleeping on the living room sofa, fearing that Lu Haoxiu might need help in the middle of the night.
Last night happened to be Duan Zege’s turn, but what was this guy doing? He slept soundly, snoring away on the sofa as if he couldn’t hear a thing!
Duan Zege rubbed his head, somewhat bewildered, and turned his head to see Lu Haoxiu crying miserably in Lou Yan’s arms. He was stunned, “….Lou Yan’s back?”
Then, Duan Zege noticed the wound on Lu Haoxiu’s forehead and the blood stains on the wall.
With just one glance, he guessed how Lu Haoxiu got the injury on his forehead.
Lu Haoxiu had lost his sight, hearing, smell, and taste successively, starting two days ago. Now, even his sense of touch was weakening. No one could imagine how Lu Haoxiu felt. He was like being trapped in a sealed box, mentally awake but surrounded by utter silence and darkness.
After his sense of touch began to weaken, Lu Haoxiu started using various methods of self-harm to feel pain. Pain made him feel that his body was still alive. He began to hurt himself frequently, which was the main reason Li Sanxin and Duan Zege took turns watching over him.
Duan Zege pursed his lips, putting away his unserious demeanor, and said apologetically, “Sorry, it’s my fault. I was too tired last night and fell asleep without realizing it.”
Li Sanxin let go of his collar, his face grim, “What’s going on?”
“Little Lu tried to hurt himself again last night,” Duan Zege’s voice was hoarse, his exhaustion evident even from his voice. He pinched the bridge of his nose, “When I rushed into his room, the kid was trying to trap his fingers in the gap of the drawer. I was so angry that I tied him to the bed. When he struggled, the bed made banging noises. I thought tying him up would be enough, and accidentally fell asleep before dawn. I vaguely heard banging noises in my dreams just now, thinking it was him struggling… sigh, my bad.”
Li Sanxin’s face turned even darker upon hearing this. He strode over to Lu Haoxiu and Lou Yan, too preoccupied to ask Lou Yan about the situation. He murmured softly, “Let me see his hand, you keep him steady. Little Lu’s emotions have been off these past few days. It’s good for him to cry it out.”
Lou Yan nodded, and Li Sanxin carefully examined Lu Haoxiu’s hand.
Three of Lu Haoxiu’s fingers had suffered strong impacts, swollen two rounds and bruised purple all over. Fortunately, Duan Zege had treated Lu Haoxiu’s wounds, and quite well at that.
Only then did Li Sanxin relax a bit. “Luckily, it didn’t damage the bones. It should be fine in a few days.”
Lu Haoxiu felt his hand being lifted and cried, his red eyes and reddened nose showing a subconscious guilty look on his face. He explained softly, “I accidentally pinched my hand, I didn’t do it on purpose.”
Looking at him like this, Li Sanxin couldn’t muster any more anger. He sighed and turned to Lou Yan, after scrutinizing his cousin several times to ensure nothing was missing, his gaze softened a bit, “Are you feeling better now?”
Lou Yan nodded, “Yeah, I’m fine.”
“Good, that’s good,” Li Sanxin muttered, wanting to ask Lou Yan about his time with Fu Xuezhou these past few days, what they did, how they resolved the berserk state, but each question was swallowed back before it could be asked, “Little Lu isn’t doing well. He’s losing his senses one by one, and now only his sense of touch is still there, albeit weak. Yanzi, do you have any ideas?”
Lou Yan’s expression was serious, but he was calm, “What about his card? The one with ‘Count Grey’s Shop’ written on it.”
“I put it away in the safe,” Li Sanxin said.
“Bring that card, and also bring the rotten apple that Lu Haoxiu had. I also have a card given by Count Grey, placed on the bedside table in my room. Sanxin, help me bring it over.”
Li Sanxin immediately stood up to fetch the items upstairs.
Lou Yan then turned to Duan Zege, saying calmly, “Duan Zege, go get the car. We’ll take Lu Haoxiu to Count Grey’s Shop now.”
Duan Zege’s spirits lifted, and he grabbed the keys to head out, “Alright.”
Lou Yan patiently patted Lu Haoxiu’s back, his eyes deep as he continued to explain to him, “I’ll take you to find Count Grey. Trust me, I’ll find a way to restore your senses. Little Lu, hang in there a little longer, you’ll be fine.”
Lu Haoxiu didn’t know what he was saying, but he subconsciously smiled in Lou Yan’s direction, clumsily patting Lou Yan’s arm, “Big brother Lou, I’m fine as long as you’re back.”
Even though he couldn’t see or hear, with Lou Yan around, Lu Haoxiu felt safe. He didn’t have to worry about his safety or whether he would endanger Li Sanxin and the others if they encountered danger.
Lou Yan heard the “thump thump thump” footsteps coming from the second floor, and raised his gaze to see Little Yu running over barefoot in her pajamas with a worried look on her face.
Upon seeing Lou Yan, Little Yu’s dark eyes lit up, and tears welled up in her eyes. She whimpered and threw herself into Lou Yan’s arms.
“Ah!”
Lou Yan freed one hand to hold Little Yu, feeling somewhat uncomfortable as he pursed his lips.
He deeply regretted entering a berserk state after killing the “Water Ghost,” wasting a whole four days and causing much suffering to those around him.
“…Don’t cry,” Lou Yan gently patted Little Yu’s head, sighing softly.
Little Yu choked up and pointed anxiously to Lu Haoxiu next to them, hurriedly gesturing to Lou Yan about Lu Haoxiu’s condition. Lou Yan touched Little Yu’s face, “I already know about your brother Little Lu’s condition. It’s okay, don’t worry, there must be a way to restore your brother Little Lu to normal.”
Tears still in her eyes, Little Yu nodded obediently.
Lou Yan looked at her bare feet, picked her up and sat her on his lap, then felt Little Yu’s cold hands and frowned. He told Little Yu to go back to sleep.
Little Yu shook her head, insisting on staying with them and accompanying Lu Haoxiu.
Lou Yan said seriously, “Little Yu, we’re taking your brother to get treatment. We can’t take care of you.”
Little Yu shook her head again, tears welling up in her eyes. She carefully reached out and grabbed Lou Yan’s sleeve, gesturing with one hand, “I can take care of my brother Little Lu.”
Lou Yan tried to persuade Little Yu several times, but she stubbornly refused to leave. Lou Yan sighed again and rubbed his forehead, conceding, “Then go put on your shoes and change your clothes quickly, get ready in two minutes. Oh, and wear an extra coat, it’s cold outside.”
Little Yu nodded eagerly and hurried back to her room to change.
After a while, Li Sanxin came down with the items. In less than two minutes, Little Yu also dressed and ran back. Lou Yan and Li Sanxin couldn’t help but chuckle at Little Yu’s colorful outfit, despite feeling somewhat heavy-hearted.
Leather pants, long boots, a green hoodie, and a red thick coat—thanks to Little Yu’s cute face, otherwise such an outfit would be somewhat unconventional.
Lou Yan couldn’t help but recall the green and red floral pajamas Li Sanxin had made him wear.
With everyone present, Lou Yan didn’t waste any time. He picked up Lu Haoxiu and headed out. Li Sanxin held Little Yu’s hand and followed behind them as they all got into the car.
Lou Yan instructed Duan Zege to drive towards the Chengjiang City Library.
Originally, he had seen “Count Grey’s Shop” on a street near the Chengjiang City Library.
Six days had passed since the flood, and most of the roads in Chengjiang City had been cleared. Walking through the city, Lou Yan looked at the ruins on both sides of the road, feeling unexpectedly calm.
This “Water Ghost” disaster, thanks to his preparations, didn’t claim as many lives as the previous disaster. Still, tens of thousands of people died in this catastrophe, demonstrating the terrifying power of A-rank horror anomalies.
Half an hour later, they arrived at their destination as Lou Yan had described.
This street had also been ravaged by the flood, with collapsed buildings and inaccessible vehicles. The group got out of the car, and Lou Yan supported Lu Haoxiu as they walked towards where “Count Grey’s Shop” was supposed to be according to his memory.
Both he and Lu Haoxiu had a business card given by Count Grey. Lou Yan remembered Gray Count saying that as long as they had the card, they could see “Count Grey’s Shop” and become a guest of the shop.
However, after walking down one street, Lou Yan didn’t see “Count Grey’s Shop.”
Feeling a sinking sensation in his heart, Lou Yan, with Lu Haoxiu in tow, walked down the street again, but still didn’t find “Count Grey’s Shop.”
Was it not here?
Lou Yan tightened his grip on the card in his pocket and began searching the surrounding area.
But as they searched throughout the night, wandering through countless streets and areas, their efforts ultimately ended in failure. Forget about “Count Grey’s Shop,” they didn’t even see a few open shops.
D*mn it.
Even Lou Yan, usually calm, started to feel anxious. He pursed his lips, his eyes scanning the roadside in frustration.
Where on earth was “Count Grey’s Shop”?
